5 min trick for limp hair
5 min trick for limp hair
My natural hair is usually limp and can be frizzy, and since I’m home most of the time now, that’s OK. On days when I want to look more put together, the flat iron comes to the rescue. A flat iron is an intentionally uncomplicated tool. For that, I will always own a flat iron in my bathroom, especially since it helps to smoothen and straighten my frizzy hair. One of my favorite ways to save my limp hair is to create volume with natural looking curls with the flat iron! It is not impossible to curn my shoulder length hair with the flat iron. The trick to curling shorter hair with a flat iron is to run the tool quickly through your locks. Take a strand of hair in the iron, flip the tool once, and drag it slowly but steadily through the length of your hair. If you hold the iron for too long, the curl will become super tight or obvious straight lines will form, which can be a nightmare as they can be hard to smooth out straight. Tips: The general rule is the shorter the hair, the thinner the flat iron. If you have longer, thicker hair, go for a wide flat iron as it can capture more amount of hair each time. Applying heat directly on your hair can cause dryness, breakage, and overall fried hair! Spritz on a heat protectant spray while your hair is damp to put a barrier between the flat iron and your hair. Check out my other reviews for leave-in conditioner recommendations. Do you know that hair burns at the same temperature as paper: 451°F? The highest temperature that you should use your flat iron on is 365°F, and no more than 325 degrees if you have finer hair. When you get to the crown, flat-iron your hair up and toward the ceiling to get volume for a more balanced look.

Detangling Hair without Damage & Pain!
Detangling Hair without Damage & Pain!
Just because we’ve grown out of our kids detangling shampoo doesn’t mean we’re any less inclined to getting annoying tangles than we were in our youth. Between trying new hairstyles, teasing for volume, and even just sleeping on our hair, we still need to address knotted strands once in a while. To save hair from damage and breakage when detangling, here are some tips to do it safely. 1. Use wide-tooth combs Choose your tools carefully, especially if you have fine or damaged hair that’s prone to breakage as well as tangles. Skip the hair brush and choose a sturdy wide-tooth comb to gently detangle dry or damp hair. PATTERN - Wide Tooth Comb 2. Condition with hair masque A good conditioner or mask helps to keep tangles at bay. It is ok to comb your hair in the shower while it’s wet. I use Maria Nila Pure Volume hair masque, a gentle lightweight treatment for fine hair that moisturises hair without weighing it down. It contains Vitamin B5 to add moisture and long-lasting volume. To use, coat the hair in conditioner or mask and let it sit for a few minutes, then use your wide-tooth comb to run the conditioner through your hair from mid-shaft to tip. This will help immensely to loosen knots, and it’ll also help distribute conditioner throughout the hair so that all your bases are covered. Hydrated hair strands will also be less prone to breakage and tangles! I use this masque at least once a week for healthy, silky hair. US$31 for 250ml Maria Nila - Pure Volume Masque 3. Start from bottom If you have been yanking hair with a brush or comb down from your roots to the tip, your hair will be more prone to breakage, split ends, and even hair loss. Instead, start first by combing the bottom few inches of your hair, then work upward, combing down as you go. 4. Use fingers Your fingers are your best friends to untangle knots in ways that a brush or comb just can’t. Gently pulling apart the tangled strands patiently will incur far less damage than simply combing through the knot over and over again. Once you’ve got it mostly undone, you can then spray on detangler and go in with your comb to smooth things out. I comb my hair with my fingers and only brush it when it’s almost dry.

Have you done your scalp detox?
Have you done your scalp detox?
An intergral part of our hair care routine is a scalp detox. A scalp detox is a method of massaging the scalp by brushing or using an exfoliating scrub, which helps buff away dead skin cells, unclog the pores on your scalp, and clear product buildup from the hair follicles. Detoxing the scalp can also help relieve itching, dandruff, and other forms of irritation. To have healthy hair, we need to build a healthy foundation/ scalp for it to grow well. I have using an amazing multi-use scrub from OUAI to build a healthy scalp. OUAI Scalp & Body Scrub The Sell: - Suitable for all hair types - A deep-cleansing, foaming skin and scalp scrub - Sugar: Unclogs and gently exfoliates and conditions while increasing microcirculation - Probiotic Blend: Supports your scalp and skin’s microbiome’s natural defenses - Coconut Oil: Rich in fatty acids that nourish and moisturize the skin, scalp, and hair The Look: I always love multi-use skincare and beauty products and this scrub works well for both body and scalp. While the particles can get stuck in the hair, all it takes is a couple of washes to ensure that they are removed well. It definitely helps to apply the scrub on exposed scalp for ease of cleansing. After washing, my scalp feels cleansed and light. The fragrance - Melrose Place smells like heaven, it boasts a velvety rich rose fragrance with hints of bergamot, lychee, cedar-wood, and white musk. This scrub is perfect for self-care spa day. How to use: Section wet hair to reveal scalp and massage in circular motions to gently exfoliate. Rinse and dry hair as usual. Good to know: Winner of Allure Best of Beauty 2020. Sulphate & paraben free, cruelty free US$38 fo 8.8oz, 250g OUAI - Scalp & Body Scrub

Organic & Natural Shampoo + Conditioner Set
Organic & Natural Shampoo + Conditioner Set
Lately, I have been more conscious of the brands I use to make my hair routine a little greener. Shampoos can claim they're made with all kinds of plant ingredients but the formula can still be packed with ingredients that are harsh for hair and the environment. And when we do use a super-clean hair shampoo, the formula may not meet our expectations. Without certain cleansing agents, natural shampoos can leave hair feeling limp. Luckily, natural and organic shampoos have come a long way. I am loving Maria Nila Pure Volume shampoo and conditioner range that really lives up to its name! The Sell: - A volumising shampoo that thickens and adds body to fine hair without weighing it down. Vitamin B5 to add moisture and long-lasting volume. Colour Guard Complex preserves the colour by protecting your hair from UV radiation and free radicals. - A detangling conditioner works with the shampoo to soften and moisturize fine hair without weighing it down. The Look: Wow guys, I have found it. This is the shampoo + conditioner set that really gives my limp, dry hair both bounce and shine without the unwanted frizz! It’s truly magical. A small coin sized formula works into a nice foamy lather that I prefer. My hair always feel so fresh and healthy after use. I also adore the citrusy and floral scent that comprises Neroli, Lemon and Hyacinth for a fresh feel. After drying, my hair stays in place and is much easier to manage. Highly recommended! How to use: Apply to wet hair and massage gently through the hair and scalp. Rinse and repeat by applying shampoo a second time. Follow up with the masque and finish off with conditioner. Can be used daily. Good to know: Sulphate & paraben free, 100% vegan & cruelty free, CO2 compensated packaging US$28 for shampoo (350ml), US$28 for conditioner (300ml) Maria Nila - Pure Volume Shampoo Maria Nila - Pure Volume Conditioner
