My Favorite Hair Products for Wavy Hair
💫 So one of my goals this year has been to embrace my natural wavy/curly hair and stop frying it into submission with a flat iron. The quarantine has really helped me on this mission but so have these these products! 💫 Amika Supernova Shine Cream Blonde- This stuff is phenomenal. I use this cream after I get out of the shower on wet hair. It weighs my hair down just enough that I don’t look like I’ve just gotten into a car accident, but still leaves a natural bouncy wave. This helps so much with minimizing my frizz and increasing shine and the purple tint keeps my blonde from looking brassy. 💫 Verb Ghost Oil- Hands down the best hair oil I’ve ever used. This makes my hair INCREDIBLY soft without weighing it down and helps a ton with defrizzing and adding shine. I’ll sometimes use this instead of the shine cream. 💫 Bumble and Bumble Hairdressers Invisible Oil Heat & UV Protective Primer- This was the first oil I ever fell in love with. It’s so light and easy to use...it almost feels more like a spray leave in conditioner than an oil. I prefer this one when my keratin is fresh and my hair is a little more on the oily/flat side because it’s so incredibly light. I love that in addition to smoothing frizz and adding shine it also protects against heat and UV. 💫 Verb Sea Texture Spray- This is only $16 and it’s my favorite texture spray of all time. I’ll use this on wet hair after an oil or shine cream and it really helps define my waves and lock them into place without being crunchy. I’ll also use this on like day 3 hair to refresh and touch up my waves.

New Year, New Hair 💇🏻♀️
Happy New Year!!! I spent 2020 focusing on enhancing my skincare routine to figure out the products I needed to use to clear, enhance, heal, soften, and glow and I’m now spending 2021 focusing on establishing a hair routine! I love the feeling and look of hydrated, smooth, shiny, voluminous, and weightless hair after a haircut and I’ve found some products that help me replicate that look! R+Co - One Prep Spray — Following shampoo and conditioner, this is my first step before any other product. I towel dry my hair and spray One evenly through brushed hair and run my fingers through my hair to make sure the product evenly coats my hair. It’s weightless, has a nice scent that’s not overbearing, preps, and provides incredible moisture. Since I’ve started using this before using my blow dryer/air drying, I’ve noticed that my hair is shinier and softer. As a person with fine hair, products like this mist are great because they aren’t greasy or heavy. VERB - Ghost Oil — After getting my hair cut in early November, my stylist suggested using an oil to prevent split ends and the light I have frizz and the Ghost oil has been a great choice for my fine hair. After using the One Prep Spray, I apply a small drop of Ghost Oil to my hands, rub it together, and then apply it on the last two inches or so of my medium length hair, and then blow dry (I only use Ghost when I blow dry my hair). Since my hair is oily at the roots, I make sure that I don’t apply it everywhere. This hair oil is incredibly light and a little bit goes a very long way, the amount I use is about the size of half a popcorn kernel. Ghost has a faint grapefruit scent, isn’t thick, tames frizz, creates a great shine, and prevents split ends. What hair products are you trying out this new year?
As a redhead, I’ve always taken great pride in my hair. However, it wasn’t till quarantine that I actually started taking care of it. I have 2B hair that is prone to frizz, I used to use drug store brands and would wash my hair daily due to my vigorous workout routine. I started washing it every other day, and while that helped, it wasn’t until I found new products and a new routine that I can actually say I’m happy with my hair. Here is my entire routine! Wash day: Shampoo and condition: Redken All Soft - it is hard to go wrong with this shampoo and conditioner, good for all hair types Post shower: I start by combing through a pump of jojoba oil thru the bottoms 3/4 of my hair with my fingers then I use IGK - Good Behavior 4-in-1 Prep Spray (my miracle product, ideal for blow outs, but still helpful when air drying) next IGK - Thirsty Girl Coconut Milk Anti-Frizz Leave-in Conditioner (a must leave in conditioner for my curly friends) and then I finish with VERB - Ghost Oil on my ends Once a week instead I use: IGK - First Class Detoxifying Charcoal Shampoo to help with product build up and VERB - Ghost Hair Mask to help with softness. These products work great! Thanks to the charcoal shampoo, an oily saturated scalp is a thing of the past. And the ghost mask smells of lovely sandalwood and my hair is so smooth after, it’s mesmerizing. Non-shampoo days: If I have a light workout I normally just use IGK - First Class Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo before and after my workout. Best dry shampoo I have ever used. The charcoal really helps with the sweat. Now if I did my typical 5 mile run and weights, I need something a little more powerful to help me out. I start by using IGK - First Class Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo prior to working out, this helps to absorb the oil as you workout. After my workout, I rinse in the shower with IGK - Smoke & Mirrors this is the next best thing to shampooing! My hair feels clean afterwards, however, it doesn’t strip your hair and dry it out. I follow with my normal post shower routine, however I skip the jojoba oil. I also started adding a scoop of collagen powder to my first cup of coffee. I mainly started using it because at 23, I’ve already been running nearly every day for 9 years 😅 so my joints need all the help they can get; however, I think it’s helped in making my hair stronger. My hairdresser noticed an extreme difference in my hair, which was all the confirmation I needed to continue on this pursuit.
The Best & The Blah - Hair Products @ Sephora
My hair is long, fine, and blonde naturally but has also been bleached and colour treated for years. So with it being fine, that means it’s extra delicate and I have to make a special effort to take good care of it in order to prevent breakage/damage. I do a lot of shopping at Sephora (more than I’d like to admit) and have tried my fair share of brands and products when it comes to hair care. While I will say that most of my hair care favourites are NOT from Sephora (they’re from the salon), I’m here to showcase some of my faves products and some that are just meh...here we go! 1. BLAHBriogeo - Apple Superfoods Shampoo & Conditioner Hair Pack ($35/bottle CAN) - I like the light scent and I feel it does a decent job overall, but it’s not my favourite and I don’t feel it’s worth the price because it’s very basic. 2. BESTOUAI - OUAI Leave-In Conditioner (Full Size $34 CAN, this is a deluxe sample) - I use a leave-in every single time I wash my hair because my hair is long and fine and gets tangled so easily, so leave-in helps to combat that. I will definitely be purchasing the full size of this! 3. BLAHOUAI - Detox Shampoo ($39 CAN) - I find that this does cleanse my hair decently well but definitely doesn’t deep cleanse the way some other detox/clarifying shampoos I’ve used have. I was hoping it would be a bit more clarifying than it is, but I’m also glad it’s not super harsh or stripping. 4. BLAHdrybar - Hot Toddy Heat Protectant Mist (Full Size $36 CAN, this is a sample) - this is a basic heat protectant and you can definitely find something just as good, if not better, for much cheaper. Overall, would not recommend this one and it’s very strongly scented. 5. BLAH drybar - Prep Rally Prime & Prep Detangler ($32 CAN) - this one is definitely meh...I’m not entirely sure it does anything at all. It’s very lightweight and doesn’t provide any hydration, it might be better suited for hair that gets greasy easily🤷🏼♀️ 6. BLAHVERB - Sea Texture Spray (Full Size $20 CAN, this was in a set) - honestly, I don’t really love very many aerosol texture sprays. I find that they don’t really do much for my hair, but I keep trying them because I really want to find a good one😆 7. BEST VERB - VERB Dry Shampoo ($20 CAN) - this stuff is BOMB! I got it in a set and have been loving it. I love that it’s not aerosol and it does an amazing job at absorbing oil and giving the hair volume and texture. Highly recommend! 8. BESTVERB - Ghost Oil ($20 CAN) - I cant believe I waited so long to try this! It’s lightweight but hydrating and is great at combating static and frizz - it doesn’t make my hair feel greasy or weighed down at all! #CheriePartner
VERB DRY SHAMPOO —for dark hair SEA TEXTURE SPRAY Sometimes words aren’t enough, so here are some receipts! Two empties of verb Dry Shampoo and a newbie to replace it because I am committed. It leaves my hair feeling so refreshed without any heaviness and smells amazing! If aerosols aren’t your thing, the powder is great, too. I also love the Sea Texture Spray (empty, already replaced) for adding some body to my Day 2 hair! Great, reasonably priced products. Can’t recommend these and the Ghost Line enough!

#Amikagiftedme their Blonde in the Big Apple Wash + Care Set 🥰 This set contains: - 1 Bust your Brass Cool Blonde Shampoo - 1 Bust your Brass Cool Blonde Conditioner - 1 Supernova Blonde Violet Moisture and Shine Cream It retails for $50 (regular retail value of $73). I absolutely love these products! My hair has become quite dry and frizzy since I bleach my hair quite often to maintain my blonde color! This is normally because it is hard to find the right purple shampoo/conditioner to keep my hair from getting brassy or yellow! I honestly think I found my new fav hair products for blonde hair🤩 My favorite has to me the moisture and shine cream though, it’s very hydrating but lightweight which works great for my natural wavy hair! 10/10. #amikagiftedme @amika @sephora @octoly #amika #trendingatsephora #octolyfamily amika: - Perk Up Talc-Free Dry Shampoo amika: - Blonde Bombshell Bust Your Brass Set amika: - Bust Your Brass Cool Blonde Conditioner amika: - Bust Your Brass Cool Blonde Shampoo amika: - Supernova Blonde Moisture And Shine Cream amika: - The Shield Anti-Humidity Spray amika: - Money Makers Set Perk Up Dry Shampoo, Fluxus Touchable Hair Spray, + the Shield Anti-Humidity Spray
Best Amika Products For Frizz
💆🏻♀️ Amika is a hair brand that has consistently knocked it out of the park for me. Their products are reasonably priced, adorably packaged, and they do what they say they’re going to do. My main concern with my hair is frizzy and dullness and these are two products that have worked wonders for me. 💆🏻♀️ Amika Supernova Blonde Moisture and Shine Cream: I use this on wet hair after washing it. This is definitely the richer of the two but it doesn’t weigh my hair down or make it oily. This is available in the blonde version or the original. The blonde has a purple tint to it and gives my hair a cool tone as well as enhancing shine, helping manage my frizz, and functioning as a heat protectant. 💆🏻♀️ Amika Flash Instant Shine Mask: This one is absolutely amazing. The Supernova used to be my favorite but this has replaced it. After shampooing I apply this mask to my hair for 60 seconds (which thank god because I just do not have the patience to stand in the shower waiting for hair masks) then rinse and condition. This just an AMAZING job of sealing hair and giving it shine. This almost totally eliminates frizz for me and helps define my curls as well. And because you rinse it out it doesn’t add heaviness to the hair. Love love love this mask.
My curly hair products
I have naturally curly hair and it was very hard to find products that fit the needs of my hair. I found these two products. The crème brûle whipped curl cream is a product that I have never seen someone use before, but I love it. It keeps my hair from getting frizzy and gives my hair the moisture it needs. It has organic sweet almond milk shea butter and aloe leaf juice. The cantu shea butter spray is what keeps my hair smooth and holds the shape of my curls perfectly. I like to spray it into my hands, warm it up and comb it through my hair with my fingers. I then scrunch my hair with my hands. This spray contains no sulfates, no silicones, no parabens or mineral oil. If you have naturally curly hair, then theses products are a must.
Curls- Brule Whipped Curl Cream
My hair: Thick, wavy, curl, frizzy, dry, unruly, has a mind of its own What I look for: Smoothing, definition, lightweight hold, nourishing I try not to have a lot of hair products open all at once, but ya know 💁🏻♀️ These are two products I have open and alternate using. The IGK - Rich Kid Coconut Oil Gel has been a favorite of mine for a long time, and the KRISTIN ESS - Hair Hydrating Curl Defining Crème has been in my collection for a couple months. I like each of them for slightly different reasons. The IGK rich kid is a gel cream. Thanks to coconut oil and aloe vera, when you dispense the product and rub between your hands, the product melts down and it’s easy to work into towel-dried hair. It is excellent for adding piecey texture and definition to waves and curls, while also nourishing the hair a bit. Due to its texture, this would probably even work with straight hair to give a beachy look. Now, there’s something wrong with the one I purchased (from Ulta). It’s got a very off-putting scent that is not normal for this product. I’ve gone through a mini and several sample packets, so I know this for sure. Nevertheless I decided to keep this bottle because it would be wasteful to return, and the product itself works just fine. It *should* have a light, fresh scent. Just a quick PSA because I noticed some others in the reviews on Ulta mention a bad smell. I love that this is lightweight, provides a bit of hold, and I need very little product, so this bottle will last for a longggg time. $29 for 5oz or $15 for 1.7oz. Worth it and will repurchase. The Kristin Ess curl creme is a creamy, slightly thicker texture. It has a lovely scent (the KE “signature scent”) that is fresh and light, but not overpowering. It adds a little bit of weight to my hair and that helps provide definition to my waves/curls. However, by no means do I think this cream is heavy. It doesn’t provide any hold, so if that’s what you’re looking for I would go with the IGK. This cream makes my hair feel softer and less frizzy than the IGK. I do need more of this product, but at $14 for 6.7oz, this bottle will still last a while and it’s affordable, so I would repurchase. By the way, I follow the “curly girl method” involves “plopping” and air drying. I have used both of these products and diffused my hair in a pinch, and they work great for that too. #CherieCreator

Caring for my wavy hair 💗
Not too long ago, I really didn’t know that I had wavy hair. Like many people I had spent years brushing it and straightening it and not giving it a second thought. Finally, my laziness got the best of me and I decided to stop heat-styling my hair. I think the first step of caring for wavy hair is finding the right stylist. Around the time I decided to stop heat styling my hair I went to a new hair stylist who absolutely transformed my hair. He cut in long layers and took out a lot of the bulk in my hair, and I really think these two things were key to getting my waves to hold up. Having more layers definitely helps enhance the waves and keeps them from falling out. So here is my current styling routine! Wash and condition hair: honestly I am not super picky at all about what shampoo or conditioner I use, but I try to get ones that have less sulfates and silicones in them. If anyone has any great recs for shampoo/conditioner for wavy hair, feel free to drop them below!! Post-shower: I know the Curly Girl Method has you apply your products when your hair is still soaking wet, but I can’t stand standing there, freezing cold with my hair dripping everywhere. So I wrap my hair loosely in a t-shirt as soon as I get out of the shower while I dry off and apply my skincare. Then once I am dressed, I take my hair down and apply my products. Leave-in conditioner: I have talked about this before, but this is the most amazing leave-in conditioner I’ve ever used. sexyhair - Healthy Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner Smells amazing and leaves my waves so amazingly soft. I apply this all over my midshaft-ends and lightly rub it in. Wave spray: Again, I’ve talked about this product before but it is seriously my holy grail hair product. OUAI - OUAI Wave Spray I spray this all over my head, seriously you cannot use too much of this stuff. (Side note: I don’t recommend spraying this on dry hair because it can get sticky, but if your hair is wet you are 100% good to go.) Once I have applied this, I flip my head upside down and SCRUNCH. Depending on what I’m doing, sometimes I will plop my hair with the towel again just to keep the wet hair off my shoulders, otherwise I just let it air dry. And voila! I love being at a place where I really just love how my hair looks daily, and I never have to spend more than 10 minutes styling it!

Living proof.-No Frizz Instant De-Frizzer
I remember growing up wondering how all the beautiful people of the world got their hair to not be frizzy and manageable. Imagine my surprise when I found out about all the things you can put in your wet hair to make it dry beautifully. I've been on the search ever since to find great products that give me movie star hair. Randco haircare is one of the brands that I'm excited to have found. . They have all of these great products that really have great results. The Vicious Strong Hold Hairspray ($32) is a great flexible hold hairspray that doesn't leave your hair feeling sticky or stiff. I really love the Waterfall Moisture + Shine ($29) lotion is a great add in before you blow dry your hair. I always get compliments on my hair when I've used this. . One of the best finds from R+Co is their Trophy texture and shine spray ($18). After I curl my hair, I spray this in to give it that oomph I need.
I love amika. I genuinely have to say that the un.done texture spray and perk up dry shampoo are the best products of their kind that I have tried in a while. So light weight, not crusty, not crispy, not sticky and my hair never has any of that white residue I commonly get with other dry shampoos! The texture spray makes my hair massive and bouncy. I use these a lot in between washes and walk around with fabulous hair. In the UK Amika products can be purchased on Birch Box and Revolve. I hope that they will be available in more places soon but that is it for now (that I am aware of!) For cheaper dupes (although the quality is not quite the same) I highly recommend tresemme max the volume hairspray and colabhair dry shampoo (available in boots/online!)
