VITAMIN C PRODUCTS
🍊 Let’s talk about one of my favorite skincare ingredients: Vitamin C. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that works to firm and brighten the skin while protecting against environmental stressors. Here are some of the Vitamin C products currently in my rotation and some pros and cons. (Left to right) 🍊 Farmacy Very Cherry Bright Serum is a blend of four Vitamin C derivatives and four types of hyaluronic acid. This is a great serum if you are sensitive to vitamin C and prefer a gentler derivative. I’m not sensitive to vitamin C but I find this to be just as effective as my abscorbic acid serums. I love the texture of this because it’s not thick or sticky at all like some vitamin c serums can be. This lightweight gel sinks in quickly and leaves my skin soft and plump thanks to all the hyaluronic acid. If you have dry, dehydrated, or sensitive skin you will love this vitamin C. 🍊 Sunday Riley C.E.O. Glow is a facial oil containing the Vitamin C derivative THD Abscorbate as well as other brightening ingredients such as turmeric, ginger root extract, and bisabolol in a blend of botanical oils. Another great option for those who may be sensitive to vitamin C because this product does use a derivative and is buffered by the oil base. I like this when I’m dry or traveling and find it gives me beautifully glowy and soft skin. However this is a little rich for me on a daily basis. If you are dry or live in a dry climate your skin will probably love this. Wouldn’t recommend for oily skin though. 🍊 Drunk Elephant C Firma Day Serum is a 15% Abscorbic Acid serum and is the most potent of the three this product also contains firming peptides and enzymatic exfoliators. This one helps so much with brightening my skin and lightening hyperpigmentation the texture is a little bit thick and sticky but sinks in relatively quickly. If you are sensitive to vitamin C this will probably not be the one for you but if not it’s amazing.

Favourite acne scarring fading products?
2 years ago I had successes with COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence and The Ordinary - Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% to fade mild acne scarring. More recently this year I had a bad breakout (see my profile for pictures) which left me with a lot of scarring, more than I’ve ever had in my life 🥺 so now I’m looking for something a bit stronger. I have tried PAULA'S CHOICE - Resist C15 Super Booster before my breakout, but I believe this was one of the causes of my breakouts so I’m hesitant to try this again, at least until my skin barrier is fuller recovered. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% works well with my skin but I feel results are slow. Maybe I’m impatient 😅 I have not tried Melano CC Intensive Anti-Spot Treatment Essence, DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serumor SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C and Turmeric Face Oil yet due to the nature and stability of vitamin C, I’d like to try 1 product at a time. Have you tried these products? Let me know what results you’ve gotten with these products! Or feel free to share any products not listed here that worked for your skin!

Fall in love with my morning routine 🍁
Anyone else love taking their time to do their skincare routine in the morning?! ⠀ Now I don’t have time to do this entire routine every morning but most days I love waking up an extra 5 minutes early just to do my in depth routine. ⠀ With the colder months coming and mascne still being a thing in my life hydration is key for me ⠀ Here’s a breakdown of my morning routine 🍁 cleanser: I have been loving the @instanatural_beauty vitamin c cleanser in the morning. It’s not only gentle but helps to brighten my complexion which is everything I look for especially during these dreary cold months insta natural - Vitamin C Cleanser, Anti-Aging ⠀ 🍁 vitamin c: I have been using the @paulaschoice C15 super booster for a few months now. I have to say it’s not necessarily my favorite and I definitely miss my @farmacybeauty very cherry. It’s more of a liquid serum and does cause a slight tingle but overall I don’t hate it. PAULA'S CHOICE - Resist C15 Super Booster ⠀ 🍁 Hylauronic acid: @earthharbor Celestine is my one true love! Not only does it smell amazing but it’s not sticky on my skin and keeps it hydrated all day long. EARTH HARBOR - Celestine Hydra-Plumping Peptide Serum ⠀ 🍁 moisturizer: @katesomervilleskincare goat milk moisturizer is perfect for the AM. It’s light enough to not be too heavy on your skin but gives the perfect amount of hydration. It’s a silky formula and I love it! Kate Somerville - Goat Milk Moisturizing Cream ⠀ 🍁 Face oil: Now I haven’t always been a face oil gal! I have normal-combination skin so I don’t suffer from dry skin much but with masks I find that breathing back onto my skin all day dries out my chin terribly. I like to use @sundayriley ceo glow every morning to not only nourish my skin but to help give it even more of a brightening boost! SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C and Turmeric Face Oil ⠀ Have you tried any of these products in my AM routine?
Vitamins for your FACE 🍊🤯
So, the best part of the Sephora checkout (in store or online) is the TINY THINGS 👶 and the FREE SAMPLES 🆓. This is a fact. And what happens to all these littles? They are subjected to a very brief testing period also known as JUDGEMENT DAY 🧐 Some: ✨ Are used once and handed off to friends/relatives. The old “this didn’t work for me” hand off 🤝 ✨ Are used to the end of the contents and branded a solid “meh” 😕 ✨ Cause irritation, smell funky 🥴 or otherwise “bad vibes” and are tossed in the bin 🗑 And finally, rarely, a little guy comes along that you keep reaching for, hoping there’s still a little left. After he’s empty you find yourself thinking about him during your skincare routine. It’s time ⏰ He’s getting UPGRADED ✅ And this is how SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C and Turmeric Face Oil 🍊 made its way into my daily routine. I added the sample mostly because of the name (#girlboss 👸🏻) and the vitamin c as I’ve tried a couple vitamin c serums that haven’t won me over. The oil goes on light and absorbs fairly quickly, I usually give it ten minutes or so to sink in after cleansing 🧼 Didn’t cause me breakouts or redness, does smell a little like a health food store 💊 (I blame the turmeric) And it makes my face feel so NICE 🥰 So soft and dark spots are fading and just gives me the indescribable GLOW 💡 In conclusion: it is good ✔️Avoided the bin and made its way into regular rotation. What samples are you hooked on now 🤔 ???

My Favorite Serums 🌸
I have sensitive combo skin that is acne-prone and these are my favorite skincare serums! A lot of my serums are focused in helping with acne and its aftermath and these are the best I’ve found. ✨Antioxidant Pore Purifier by Paula’s Choice $31 for 1oz This serum has salicylic acid in it and white tea. It is meant to unclog pores and help with airborne pollutants. It’s a light fluid that is the tiniest bit sticky on skin before adding a moisturizer. Before finding this, I was dealing with a lot of really intense cystic acne. After using for about two months, I eased up on this product and noticed my breakouts got worse which is when I realized what an effect this was having for my skin. I eventually did ease out of regular use and my skin has been behaving but if it does get bad again, I’m definitely repurchasing this product. ✨Very Cherry Bright by Farmacy $62 for 1oz This is a lightweight Vitamin C serum by Farmacy made with four forms of Vitamin C, the most obvious being from the Acerola Cherry extracts which make this smell so good! This serum is gorgeous. It’s lightweight and effective. This is a clean brand and comes in packaging that is meant to reduce oxidation which makes Vitamin C serums less effective. I find this helps with red spots, scarring, brightening and fighting free radicals. My biggest issue is the price but this brand does regular sales which helps. I’m about to try the Naturium Vitamin C Complex so we will see how that compares given the lower price point. Stay tuned! I’m also liking the Naturium Niacinamide one a lot. ✨Great Barrier Relief by Krave $28 for 1.52 fl oz This is a moisture barrier saving serum by Krave which I fall more and more in love with each use. It has Tamanu Oil, Safflower Oil, Rosehip Oil, Vitamin B3 and Ceramide for for skin regeneration, hyperpigmentation, anti-aging, brightening, acne-fighting and generally repairing a damaged skin barrier. This serum is turning into an all time favorite. I actually use this after a lighter Vitamin C serum on my mask area and it’s been helping to prevent breakouts from mask wearing. This product mimics your skin’s moisture barrier so it’s great for skin that needs help from too many actives, sunburn, etc. ✨Honeymoon Glow by Farmacy $58 for 1 oz This is an nighttime resurfacing serum that for me gets rid of breakouts and leaves me glowing the next morning. It has AHA, flower acids and honey in it. It tingles a bit when first applied but that quickly stops. I couldn’t go without this one and have a back-up. I like to use acids like this with a stronger nightly moisturizer like Healing Ointment by CeraVe! I use this maybe twice a week at most. 🌸What serums are you loving? Morning skincare routine for combination skin ✨
I’ve switched up my skincare routine as my skin has been really acting out recently. I’ve always had dry, dull skin so facial acne is a new problem for me (at 23🙃). However I didn’t want to strip my skin and cause further breakouts so here’s what I’ve been trying recently. This is my first post so please comment and let me know what you think/ would recommend! Cleanser: I start the day with the CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser It’s gentle, with a simple ingredient list of ceramides and hyaluronic acid. It’s non foaming and doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight (which I find frequently happens with foaming products). It’s basic but does the job of sweeping off last nights products well. 💦 Toner: then on a still slightly damp face I sweep on LANEIGE - Cream Skin Toner & Moisturizer either patting it on with my hands or using a cotton pad. My skin drinks this up fassst & I haven’t had any dry patches on my nose since using this daily. It’s lightweight & very watery and although it claims to be a 2 in 1 toner and moisturiser I definitely wouldn’t say that I could skip moisturiser after using this. 🐄 Serums: I try and get The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 onto my face as quickly as possible so that the hyaluronic acid draws moisture from the toner and not deeper layers of my skin. This serum absorbs quickly & isn’t tacky at all, it also doesn’t interact with any of my other products so I’m already on my second bottle & use it in my morning and evening skincare routine. 🐳 I then use OLE HENRIKSEN - Truth Serum I feel pretty meh about this, it has a nice texture and absorbs quickly but it also has (a nice!) fragrance & I can’t say I’ve seen much of a difference in the few weeks I’ve been using it. It claims to have anti aging properties thanks to its collagen, but at most, topical collagen will moisturise your skin (the molecules are too big to penetrate deeper) so I think I’m keen to try other vitamin C serums, I’m thinking of getting the FARMACY - Very Cherry Bright 15% Clean Vitamin C Serum with Acerola Cherryor The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%so any thoughts on those would be welcome! 🍊 Then The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% which has been driving me a bit mad recently. I’m only halfway through my first bottle but have had such hit and miss results in terms of pilling! Think I’m going to permanently relocate this to just my nighttime routine 🌚 Moisturiser: OLE HENRIKSEN - C-Rush Vitamin C Gel Moisturizer is lightweight and has a nice texture so it’s a great summer moisturiser, in terms of brightening though, I’ve not seen much change. Finally Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Sunscreen SPF 50 it’s non greasy, but does create some shine & it stings like hell if you get it in your eyes so be warned! But no white cast & a nice texture🌞
It’s time for the review on this strawberry c serum by Volition beauty ! So many people love this one, but I haven’t used it long enough to form any long term opinions on it. What I can tell you is it feels like gel serum almost but it surprisingly soaks in faster than who done it and why 🤣 and leaves only the slightest bit of tackiness behind or you wouldn’t even know it was there. Let’s cover the facts first! I used over the course of a few weeks (not long) sometimes in the morning & sometimes at night. ⚡️Retails $42 for 30ml or 1oz Key ingredients: 20% strawberry derived vitamin c, kakudum plum, hyaluronic acid, cucumber fruit water 🍓It’s for all skin types & helps with -Dullness -Redness -Uneven skin tone -Dry skin -Fine lines & wrinkles -Skin texture -Radiance ✔️ Cruelty Free, Gluten Free, & clean Thoughts: I think it’s a very well made product & I didn’t experience any kind irritation from it. I did notice some brightening effects & calming of skin in the short period I used it. My skin also started to feel a bit smoother. It took me a few days personally to see/feel a change. I do think it’s a lovely serum & with more time & consistency I’ll report any future changes! 🍓 it’s super easy to wear this vitamin c during the day because it soaks in so fast! It’s not like an oily or greasy type of serum. It feels thick but it amazes me how fast it soaked up! Loves it & will continue to use it!

SUNDAY RILEY - Luna Retinol Sleeping Night Oil Ok this was my first Sunday Riley product and I truthfully had no expectations for it. I figured it was another overhyped product but I was so wrong! The Luna Oil claims to help “boosts the look and feel of skin plumpness, while improving the appearance of wrinkles, redness, and pores for visibly younger-looking skin”. With that being said, the main star of this is the Trans-Retinol Ester that is gentler than normal retinols to help fight the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, all the while helping with the skins elasticity. I 1000% love this product. They hit it out of the park. This product is a godsend! I’ve repurchased this multiple times and I have this in a mini travel size cause I’m always on the go. I add around 2-3 drops on my hand and press into my skin after moisturizing every other night. When I wake up my skin is brighter, smoother, and more supple! I give this a 4/5 stars only because it has colored dyes in it to give it the blue look, which I feel they don’t need to add since they have blue tansy in it already. (Personal preference). Also this does not make your face blue, just so you know LOL *item pictured is from their multivitamins kit that comes with their C.E.O Rapid Flash Brightening Serum which retails for $28. I carry the small one and refill it from my full-size when I travel!

An empty and replacement
DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum This was my second C firma that I had just finished. While I like c firma for its potency there are a few downsides I noticed the second time around using it. Because it’s so potent it is also unstable. It can oxidize fairly quickly leaving the very expensive product to not work as well as it should be. The smell is pretty unpleasant however I’ve always been willing to overlook that side effect. This product also stayed on my skin and left it feeling sticky for longer than I’d like, especially when I’m in a rush trying to apply my skincare and makeup before work it was difficult to work with the prolonged stickyness. That being said I really think it is probably the most potent and fast working vitamin c serum on the market. I would consider repurchasing in the future but for the time being I have other vitamin c serums I would like to try first. GLOW RECIPE - Pineapple-C Brightening Serum I recently opened this serum as a replacement to C firma. I had heard mixed reviews about it so I was a little uncertain what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. I love the formula, it’s a silky feeling serum that glides onto the skin. The chamomile in the formula helps to soothe and calm skin and is great for sensitive skin. It also leaves skin feeling a little moisturized which is great when you have dry skin. Skin looks brighter thanks to the combination of vitamin C and AHAs. I would be interested in purchasing a replacement for this in the future.

Takes time, but worth it: Kiehl’s Vit C Serum
Sooo while we’re on the topic of antioxidant serums, we can’t NOT talk about Kiehl’s Vitamin C Concentrate serum. I will say this one isn’t for beginners, unless you’re prepared to stay the course- vitamin C can be a little harsh on your skin at first, but it’s worth the pay out. In terms of texture, it’s not a clear, slippery gel like many serums. It’s a thin, easily absorbed creamy serum instead. I much prefer this. Kiehl's - Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate 12.5% Vitamin C I have sensitive skin, and I did find that my skin was a little oversensitized for a few weeks when I first started using this. think flakey skin, though not in a dehydrated sense- more so like a deep exfoliation. I don’t think this would cause that reaction for everyone however. And my skin adjusted with glowing results! The surface has never felt softer, nor looked more glowy. I use at night time only, and always use an SPF the next day (I don’t use this every night... every two or three nights usually). It’s on the more expensive side, but the bottle lasts quite some time. Plus I think it looks gorgeous- it has a cute apothecary product aesthetic. It’s infused with hylauronic acid too, for an extra bonus! Kiehl's - Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate 12.5% Vitamin C
Kiehl's-Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate 12.5% Vitamin C
DOES VITAMIN C WORK? 🍊 I think we all ask this question because when it comes to Vitamin C there isn’t a large sum of evidence for the effectiveness compared to say, Vitamin A. Ceo glow by sundayriley has THD Ascorbate ‘TETRAHEXYLDECYL ASCORBATE’ which is a form of Vitamin C that has been modified to be more lipid soluble meaning it is more successful at getting to the dermis in turn promoting collagen production. It can also help lessen free radical damage and help fade pigmentation. The next day I really do feel my skin is brighter. 8/10 Vitamin C suspension 30% in silicone by the ordinary contains L-Ascorbic Acid which is water soluble but not highly stable however it has been shown to have the same benefits as THD, it just doesn’t penetrate as deeply. I’m not a fan of the application of this and it stings a little so I’d give this one a pass. 6/10 The Vitamin C powder cream by drsebagh contains Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate which is more stable than L-Ascorbic Acid and is less likely to oxidate. It’s honestly my favourite Vitamin C that I’ve tried and really does fade pigmentation. 8.5/10 C Tango multivitamin eye cream by drunkelephant contains 5 forms of Vitamin C, and 8 peptides so it has great potential for lightening pigmentation and promoting collagen growth. I really do like this but it doesn’t brighten as much as I’d like. 7.5/10

My lovely team got me SUNDAY RILEY - CEO 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum for my birthday (THANK YOU LADIES!😘) I use it every morning after toner and before moisturizer. It smells just like oranges which is fresh and yummy. It's very light and a little goes a long way. It's only been a few weeks since I got it. I haven't noticed any significant results yet. But vitamin c is supposed to brighten your skin and protect it from sun damage. Will report back after a few months. So far so good! 😝
