Strong artificial banana scent 🍌🍌
Strong artificial banana scent 🍌🍌
I purchased this eye cream because it claims to help with dark circles and was recommended by several people. I used this for about a month and didn’t notice a difference in the appearance of my dark circles. But what I did notice was the strong artificial banana scent. The scent was too much for me to tolerate. I also noticed some bumps along my cheek bone right where the application of this cream ends. This was right around the time that people started reporting rashes and break outs from this cream. I stopped using it and the bumps went away. Either my skin can’t tolerate this cream or it was reacting to something in the product. Either way, I will not be finishing this one. OLEHENRIKSEN - Banana Bright Eye Crème

Lemme just say up front that I love bioderma. I bought their sensibio 3 piece kit back on Black Friday to try their micellar water, moisturizer, and this eye cream. This is my least favorite item in the 3 piece kit BUT I still like it. It claims to de-puff, soothe, and moisturize the under eye while also reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I don’t actually need de-puffing. In fact I need the opposite as my eyes look a lil sunken in so I can’t speak to that effect. However, I do feel that my under eyes are very well moisturized and I think my super dark circles are actually lightening up. Of note, I have used this little guy religiously for three months during my nighttime routine. Another important thing to mention is that my eyes don’t burn or tear up after using this eye cream. Some eye creams really make my eyes water or sting/burn so this one is a real pleasure. It honestly feels like a moisturizer for your under eye plus it sinks into the skin really quickly. I want to try other products just to see what’s out there but I know I’ll be restocking this because it’s a perfect backup. And I have a feeling I’ll be coming back to this one very soon! I love Glossier. But I don’t love this product. I wanted to love it but it was soooo drying for my skin. Every time I used this cleanser my skin was so tight and uncomfortable. Of note, I have dehydrated combination and sensitive skin. I know people rave about this product and it’s got a good price point, so I’d recommend it for some but probably best to steer clear if you have dehydrated or dry skin. Too stripping! This lives up to the hype!!!! It smells so deliciously of watermelon. I’m shook how good it smells. It’s such an authentic fragrance and I usually hate products with fragrance! For application, it does go on a little grainy due to coconut for some exfoliation. At first I didn’t love that, but I realized rubbing my lips makes the graininess disappear. It leaves a light pink tint and lasts for several hours. It definitely hydrates as well. It’s clean at Sephora (#cleanbeauty) which is an important distinction. It’s $22 which is on the more expensive side but I do feel this will last a while and knowing that it’s clean without harmful ingredients (which usually means paying more) gives me peace of mind. I’m obsessed with coola products and have been for years. I recently discovered their makeup setting spray and given that it had added SPF I knew I needed to try it. This really sets the makeup nicely. It has a bit of an alcohol smell to it but thst disappears on application. The spray feature allows for dispersion if product easily and equally. It also comes in a nice glass bottle! Will definitely repurchase. COOLA - Makeup Setting Spray Organic Sunscreen SPF 30

I really really wanted to like this because it seems like everyone loves it but I found it very meh. It’s yellow tinted (see second picture) so you really have to rub it in for the color to disappear. It also has a chemical scent to it that in combo with the color is a little off putting. Obviously I can’t speak to the results yet because I haven’t been using it for 4-6 months but I haven’t had any redness or flakiness which is promising because I have sensitive skin! Overall, would not repurchase. I don’t think it’s worth the price ($74). It is considered clean at Sephora, which is an important distinction! Especially for retinol products. Ingredient spotlight: the silk canvas
Ingredient spotlight: the silk canvas
I’ll admit it: I used to think primers were unnecessary, or that you only needed one if you were “serious” about makeup and did a full beat face every day. Fortunately, I recently saw the error of my ways and learned that I had been missing out BIG TIME. No wonder my makeup always creased by the end of the day 🙃 I received this primer as part of a Cherie-sponsored giveaway (yay!) and I was super excited to try it, as I had never tried anything from Tatcha. My first impressions: this looks, feels, and smells luxurious. It’s described as a velvety priming balm that melts into skin and protects it from makeup: basically, it keeps makeup out of your pores. It smooths on so well and it really does feel like it’s melting into my skin. Tatcha says you only need an amount the size of a rice grain, and while I think I use slightly more than that, you really don’t need much. With the amount you get, I think the price tag of $52 is very fair. I think I could use this every day for... six months? More? I typically don’t wear makeup on weekends, so it’ll probably last me even longer than that. As the name indicates, this product contains silk: both silk powder and hydrolyzed silk. Tatcha says that the silks diminish the look of pores and fine lines, and it also helps makeup glide on smoother and last longer, giving a soft focus finish. I personally love the idea of silk in skincare and makeup—just thinking about it makes my skin feel smoother. I do think this product delivers on its claims. I’ve used other primers, and this one delivers as well as MILK’s hydrogrip primer (my favorite). While I like the cooling feeling of MILK’s primer, the silkiness of this one is very addicting as well. I think it comes down to which texture you prefer (gel or balm), because they both work well. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good quality primer. I think this would work well for all skin types. I’m oily and it helps keep my shine under control, but everyone could use a little help getting their makeup to last longer. I know the price tag can seem a bit steep, but seriously, you need the tiniest amount. Have you tried The Silk Canvas? What did you think?
