Banana Bliss 🍌
I am a sucker for bananas! So when I heard about Glow Recipes Banana Moisturizer I definitely wanted to try it. It only took me forever to do so!!! I personally like this one because it feels lightweight but you get a rich feeling moisturizer. It’s packed with amazing ingredients like banana, chia seed, magnesium, turmeric, and cica all to help keep your skin balanced and hydrated. It does have a banana scent, reminiscent of a banana laffy taffy (which happens to be one of my top favorite candies). The added fragrance is listed as last where as banana is listed in the top 15 so the fragrance is very minimal and can be from the banana BUT although this is listed as non-comedogenic and non-acnegenic there are reviews stating the opposite. If you are prone to breakouts you definitely want to patch test and be aware this has caused breakouts. I’ve had no issues with this and use it both as an am and pm moisturizer. For me that says a lot. I typically use a lighter moisturizer for the am and a heavier for the pm but this is balanced enough for both. I’ve tested a handful of moisturizers over the last few months and I’d put this in the top 3. 1- PAULA'S CHOICE - Resist Barrier Repair Moisturizer, 50ml 2- Milk MAKEUP - Vegan Milk Moisturizer 3- GLOW RECIPE - Banana Soufflé Moisture Cream I’ll have reviews to come on more moisturizers (Kate Somerville, Farmacy Beauty, Paula’s Choice) $39 is pretty average for a moisturizer and I’d say with daily use it would last around two months. The amount shown is all needed to cover face, neck and chest. I’ve actually not been a big Glow Recipe fan. I feel for a K-Beauty brand they are very gimmicky and overpriced but I was pleasantly surprised by this one. And they seem to be coming out with a few more hits that I’d like to try before making a final decision on the brand itself. Hoping to try soon: GLOW RECIPE - Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask GLOW RECIPE - Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer What I do like of theirs: GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon Glow Jelly Sheet Mask(no longer made 😢 best hydration boost. Next best thing... GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon + AHA Glow Sleeping Mask GLOW RECIPE - Plum Plump Hyaluronic Acid Serum(review coming soon) Have you tried anything from Glow Recipe? What’s been a hit? What’s been a miss? Thanks for reading. Hit the 👏 and follow if you enjoy ❤️ you my skinnies 🍒
One Year Progress
Exactly one year apart! I started my skincare journey 9 months ago. I primarily use Glow Recipe, but am slowly venturing out and replacing my lesser favorites of their products. These are some of my tips and holy grails! GLOW RECIPE - Banana Soufflé Moisture Cream holy crap this stuff really helped my redness, that was my biggest skin concern 2-3 times a week I do a chemical and physical exfoliant, I got this one in a boxy charm box and fell in love. I would recommend doing this in the shower and leaving it on your face for a couple minutes to really absorb the acids. Also I would recommend skipping the serums and night masks after this. Just use toner, eye cream, and moisturizer. Murad - AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser I mix a vitamin C serum in with my AHA every other morning. I’m undwerwhelmed with GLOW RECIPE - Pineapple-C Bright Serum I don’t hate it, but I think I can find better once I run out. However I love their GLOW RECIPE - Plum Plump Hyaluronic Acid Serum it is gentle enough (for my skin) to use every morning and night, and one pump is all you need! double cleansing is a must! I’ll just use the tiniest bit of GLOW RECIPE - Papaya Sorbet Smoothing Enzyme Cleansing Balm even when I’m not wearing makeup because it has a lot of good ingredients for your skin. However if your skin is feeling dry, I’d skip it and just use a water based cleanser. I am also underwhelmed with GLOW RECIPE - Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser I’m going to use it for before and after my workouts, but not worth the price point. Plus it is irritating if it gets in your eyes. I just ordered FARMACY - Whipped Greens: Oil-Free Foaming Cleanser With Moringa and Papayafor my morning and night cleanser and I am beyond excited to try it. a nice spray is a must! I use it after I cleanse and after I shower. J.R. WATKINS - Heritage Store Rosewater & Glycerin Spray this stuff is soo good!! My face is so soft after I have to force myself not to touch it. I loved GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist but I got to say I like the Heritage one and it is wayy cheaper. don’t be afraid of supplements! I just got some vitamin E supplements and I’ve been taking magnesium and collagen everyday too. lastly look into anti-aging pillows and silk/satin pillowcases. This is especially important for side sleepers. If you sleep on your side, you are smushing your face against it. When you are young, your skin is elastic enough to bounce back, but you’re hurting your skin over time. YourFacePillow - Anti Wrinkle Back & Side Sleeping Pillow

Florence by Mills skincare- Is it worth it?
Florence by mills, let’s talk about it. I did not hate these products, but for all my girlies (and guys) who have acne, this won’t help. The face wash simply isn’t formulated for acne prone skin. All of the products made my skin feel refreshed and hydrated, but while I was using it, I just wasn’t seeing any sort of results. I sort of assumed that this would happen since most celebrity skincare is bogus, but I honestly think that this set is a great refresher. florence by mills - Clean Magic Face Wash One thing that bothers me about this product is that is doesn’t show you all of the ingredients. But the ingredients that they do show you, are just mediocre. Ferulic Acid- This ingredient is used to smooth out fine lines and reduce the appearance of spots, which is great, but I would recommend using this in a serum form which is more concentrated than in this face wash. I would also recommend using the serum with Vitamin C and Vitamin E. The Ordinary - Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% Ellagic Acid- This is an antioxidant that is found in many fruits, vegetables, and nuts. It is said to help protect the skin and it’s barrier. It can also help brighten the skin and improve pigmentation. Again I would recommend using this in a face cream or oil rather than in a face wash. Mad Hippie - Antioxidant Facial Oil It also mentions a “Oil-Balancing Blend” in its ingredients, but while using it, it didn’t help combat my oily skin. florence by mills - Dreamy Dew Moisturizer I actually really liked this moisturizer, when you put it on you felt refreshed. It was a nice thick moisturizer which would be good for someone with dry-normal skin. I also loved that it didn’t make my skin feel greasy after using it. Let’s look at the ingredients. Willow bark extract- This is basically a more natural form of salicylic acid. It helps reduce inflammation and it is antibacterial. Lotus Flower Blend- This product helps improve elasticity and reduces wrinkles. It also has other effects if ingested... for example, if can make you feel high lol. I don’t suggest eating it! Vitamin B12- This is a great ingredient, it helps improve fatigued skin. I personally take this in pill form along with my other daily vitamins florence by mills - Lily Jasmine Zero Chill Face Mist I loved this spray, let’s see what’s in it... Thyme extract- Thyme extract is well known for its antibacterial properties, meaning this ingredient helps to fight acne and clear your skin. I don’t know about anyone else, but all this product did for me was give a nice cooling effect and did not help my acne. Bladderwrack seaweed- This ingredient is an effective antioxidant for the skin. It is best used as an extract pulled form the seaweed as used in this product. This spray smelt delicious and felt wonderful on my skin. Overall I would rate this skincare set 5/10! The ingredients are only mediocre, and won’t help or hurt your skin.

The O2 lift system from Image Skincare is absolute amazing. I use this system every two to three months and the results are always amazing. I’m left with extra clean, extremely soft and glowing skin. This is a 5 part system that takes about an hour. Step one is the gel to milk cleanser. This cleanser can actually be used daily. It is an acid free, sulfate free, oil based milky cleanser that helps remove all surface impurities while helping balance and optimize the skins PH. Step two is the enzymatic facial peel. You massage this into your skin until the gel into your skin until it liquifies, after that you continue massaging for another 3-5 minutes. When I use this I can literally see and feel the dead skin cells flaking away! Step 3 is the oxygenating facial mask. You apply this all over and relax for 15 minutes. This mask turns thick as it settles and then turns to a cloud like fashion. It tickles but it’s amazing! Step 4 is the stem cell facial enhancer. You apply Three pumps fills all over the face, neck and décolletage. It smells wonderful! Last and final step is the tinted moisturizer. You apply this all over! Results are amazing!
Last night's routine was anoth
Last night's routine was another custom and featured a modeling mask kit that was difficult to part with. I even pulled out a couple new products specifically for this routine to see how well they played together. 🌟blissworld olive oil foaming cleanser stick - more on this soon but my immediate impressions are positive. It foams a bit slow but its easy to use and glides smooth along the face. There no oil left behind either and it washes off like a normal cleanser. 🌟itsskin power 10 GF effector 🌟drunk elephant b-hydra intensive gel 🌟letmeskin ultra H2O modeling mask in - review this in the past and it still stands. Its like having a spa facial at home. Simple and clean to mix, easy to apply and once removed its like you have new skin. Every pore is calm and happy! I’m so sad I used my last one 😥. 🌟drunke elephant virgin marula luxury facial oil 🌟farmacy sleep tight firming night balm - upon first impression I love the texture and consistency. I don't need alot to seal everything else in. It feel like a thin sleep mask 😴and it dries so fast it's as if I don't add it at all.

Fav skincare brands: Youth to the People
Fav skincare brands: Youth to the People
Considering a brand as a “favorite” of yours should go deeper than your love of their products. Youth to the People has longtime been a brand touting their sustainability efforts and their packaging is glass which can be recycled as well as the inking on the glass being made to be removed easily. They time and time again are sure to be inclusive, supporting and bringing in black creators to be part of their campaigns. I appreciate their awareness and wanting for change. I feel like they are never stationary—they are always evolving and moving forward in their space. I have been vocal about this in the past, but their adaptogen line gave me allergic reactions. This is because adaptogens are mushrooms, and my skin has had consistent reactions to mushrooms in makeup and skincare. That being said, I thoroughly enjoy their Superberry Dream Mask YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask as well as their Superfood Cleanser YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser . I feel these are formulated to help nourish the skin while being aware of harsh or irritating ingredients for sensitive skinned people. They’ve also recently came out with a “Pride” focused kit where they’re matching 100% of profits up to $75,000 to GLSEN, the leading education organization working to create safe and inclusive schools for LGBTQ+ students. I urge you to do your research on brands you support to see what they’re doing for their communities and what they’re being silent about. I want to address that YTTP did not have the most proactive approach to the recent murder of George Floyd. They only posted about it seemingly after pressure from the skincare Instagram community & did not mention anything about donating. I am disappointed, but with their track record I am monitoring their actions moving forward to see how they react to other issues, and I’m hoping they act in a more proactive manner next time and continue to support black creators. That being said, overall I have to say YTTP is one of my favorite skincare brands. I can’t wait to see what they do next.

My first #farmacyfridays showcasing a few favorites of mine from the brand - & because I am super excited for their Honey Halo moisturizer that is coming soon! Right now Farmacy is running a 25% off site-wide sale if you use code: STOCKUP. This is the perfect time to “stockup” on all of your Farmacy faves! 💚 I really love their cleansing balms - 𝒢𝓇𝑒𝑒𝓃 𝒞𝓁𝑒𝒶𝓃 & 𝒱𝑒𝓇𝓎 𝒞𝒽𝑒𝓇𝓇𝓎. Their cleansing balm is probably their bestseller & what really put the brand on the map! It effortlessly removes makeup, sunscreen & debris. These cleansers don’t irritate my eyes or cause any burning sensation, but I do find my vision to be a tad bit blurry if it does get in my eyes - but nothing intolerable. They are definitely on my top three favorite cleansing balm list! 🍃 𝒟𝒶𝒾𝓁𝓎 𝒢𝓇𝑒𝑒𝓃𝓈 is an excellent daytime moisturizer - it is oil free so it is perfect for those with oily / combo skin types. It has a gel like texture and sinks into the skin beautifully. 🍃 𝐻𝑜𝓃𝑒𝓎 𝒫𝑜𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃 has quickly become a favorite mask of mine - I honestly don’t know what took me so long to try it, but I am so glad I received it in a Boxycharm a few months back! This will be perfect for fall & winter as it gives a gentle warming sensation; leaving the skin hydrated & supple thanks to all of the antioxidants in the formula. 🍯 Let me know down below what your Farmacy Faves are! 💚 FARMACY - Daily Greens Oil-Free Gel Moisturizer with Moringa and Papaya FARMACY - Honey Potion Renewing Antioxidant Hydration Mask FARMACY - Very Cherry Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm FARMACY - Green Clean Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm

Here’s what I’ve been think ab
Here’s what I’ve been think about the three that I’ve tried so far. Keep in mind that I haven’t been using these for long so it’s really more of my first impressions. 🌟Skin Dope with Argan Oil + 100mg CBD: I’ve said it before, not a huge oil person. But this oil is one that I find incredibly hydrating with only two tiny drops being enough to use. I’ve also used it on other areas of my body to soothe any random itches (I get these a lot for some reason). 🌟Argan Exfoliating Cleansing Powder: exfoliating powders and detox masks are my recipe to get rid of congested skin. This is really gentle on your skin and not too abrasive of a scrub. It’s gentle enough to use everyday, which I prefer to do at night. 🌟Whipped Mud Mask: I use this mask a couple times a week after exfoliating. It really helps clear up any congestion I have around my nose, forehead and chin. It doesn’t leave your skin feeling tight or dry although it is a clay mask. And when it starts to harden on your face it doesn’t feel like it’s sucking out all the moisture, leaving you unable to make facial expressions 😂 I chose these products based on the fact that there are no ingredients in it that I know my skin has problems with. I used Skincarisma to help decode the ingredients list before making my selection! If you ever need help reading an ingredient list I highly suggest Skincarisma, it’s like a better CosDNA in my opinion 😊

Knours Your Only Cleanser

Knours Your Only Cleanser This guy here is a 2-in-1! Its oil to foam formula works to both remove makeup and cleanse your skin at the same time. I love using this - it smells of something earthy and fresh, but I can’t quite put my finger on it. It does a great job at cleansing my skin thoroughly, and while I don’t find that it’s non-stripping as it claims to be, I don’t mind because that’s what moisturizers are for 🤷🏻‍♀️ 💛 Double Duty Mist What a cool product! I’ve never seen anything else like it. I’ll quote the website directly on this one: “A customizable toner with two layers that transforms to address complexion needs. The bottom layer contains aloe vera water and MultiEx BSASM Plus® to calm and soothe; the top layer features jojoba oil and botanical extracts to deeply nourish and moisturize.” I think this is one of the coolest 2-in-1 products I’ve ever used. I use this travel size guy at the office for a refresher throughout the day, depending on what my skin is feeling! “- Shake to mix when skin is dry and flaky - Do not shake when skin is at its most sensitive and acne-prone - Shake just once when skin is at its peak condition to add just a drop of the nutrient-rich oils” 💛 Sweet Enough Rescue Mask I freaking love this mask, you guys. It smells lovely, and it contains restoring and hydrating honey extract to soothe the skin during its worst moments. I find that this is so hydrating, if I massage in the serum after taking off the mask, there’s not much else to be done for my skin moisture-wise. And, I find that it works amazingly to help soothe any angry zits I’ve got.
