I hate my skin ‼- 2 months into skin journey 👉
I hate taking photos of my skin, especially bare faced. I am currently feeling insecure about posting this photo. but in a moment of strength here I am. bare faced on the internet. omg 😬😬 I have always had some kind of breakout but since March 2020. it has progressively got worse. While Sydney was in lockdown from March to June I promised myself that once the quarantine lifted I would take my skin care seriously. immediately made an appointment with Laser Clinic Australia and started a 6 month course of microdermabrasion and enzyme peels. I took this photo today- which is 1 week since I got my first enzyme peel. like most of you I have been trying product after product and despite my seemingly clear forehead, I am still incredibly insecure about my skin and the lack of a quick fix. The products I have been using religiously for the last 3 months are: CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin

Skincare routine for acne
THE BEST RETINOL EVER 🙌🏽🙌🏽
First things first - FOLLOW ME 🤍 So I’m 21 years old with oily/acne-prone skin. This is the best retinol I’ve tried - WAY better than The Ordinary. Skinstitut’s Retinol uses an encapsulated form of Vitamin A within an advanced delivery system to not only preserve its potency but to help to calm the skin and minimise any associated irritation. Retinol is considered one of skincare’s superheroes, particularly when it comes to targeting acne and premature ageing. It works to refine, retexturize, and strengthen the skin by helping to increase Collagen production while also helping to improve tone, fade pigment and scarring, soften skin texture, and reboot radiance. Skinstitut’s Retinol is further boosted with peptides to further fortify the skin from within. Hands down best retinol, definitely worth a try! skinstitut - Retinol Serum
CLEAR SKIN HACKS 💛✨
First things first, FOLLOW ME 🤍 As someone with oily/acne-prone skin, I’m always on the hunt for tips and tricks to help get my skin nice and clear. Here are some rules I stand by: Double cleanse always! I use my micellar water first then go in with the oil. Really make sure you massage in that oil with your fingers and then go into cleansing straight after so it doesn’t clog your pores or break you out. (The BEST cleansing oil tagged at the end). SUPPLEMENTS! (Disclaimer I am not a doctor but this is what worked for me). I take Omega 3 Fish Oil, Zinc and Vitamin A daily. Overall my skin has become clearer and a lot less oily. Don’t over exfoliate! I use a chemical exfoliator ONCE a week, and a gentle, natural scrub ONCE a week. I don’t use any actives on my face the night I do my chemical exfoliation. I just use my toner, moisturiser and eye cream. When doing my makeup, I mix my moisturiser into my concealer before highlighting my face. This gives me the longevity of a matte finish for my oily skin, but looks a lot more nice and natural on the skin. Retinol every night! Niacinamide every morning! Cerave foaming cleanser and moisturisers will save you! Don’t over-cleanse. Treat your skin like the delicate little petal it is. Use a nice and thick eye cream. They aren’t gimmick like some say. I use Paw Paw cream under eyes before makeup and this has been a game changer. I hate to be THAT person, but drink water. Lots of it. And add in lemon and cucumber if you can. Also don’t eat dairy (this changed my skin) and overall tryyyy to eat healthy. CHANGE YOUR PILLOW CASE REGULARLY!! And opt for silk/satin if you can xx PALMER'S - Cocoa Butter Gentle Facial Cleansing Oil ANDALOU NATURALS - Pure Pore Toner, Willow Bark, Clear Skin skinstitut - Retinol Serum

Empties + mini reviews
✨Empties✨ The Ordinary Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%. A holy grail for me. This has definitely made a big difference in the brightness and evenness of my skin. It is oil and water free. The low percentage of Vitamin C isn’t too strong for my skin to tolerate. I have already replaced this and am on my third bottle. ✅ Definitely Repurchase. CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser is definitely a oldie but goodie. I do enjoy using this as a morning cleanse, however I never felt like it was quite enough to cleanse the day off in a P.M. routine. I like to use it in P.M. if I’m having a eczema flare or reaction, otherwise I stick to use in the A.M. If you saw my La Roche Posay Vs. CeraVe post, you’ll know my current stance on this product. ✅ Would repurchase (and have many times.) CeraVe Moisturizing Cream. I Can’t live without. My dry skin LOVES this moisturizer as my final step in my evening routine. It is thick, occlusive, and reparative. Probably not the best choice for oily skin or day time use.. but I will never go without it. $12 for this bottle that lasts MONTHS. Currently on my 100th bottle (estimated😜). ✅ Definitely repurchase. Purito Centella Green Level Unscented Sun. Despite the current controversy, I will still give this product a good review. It is comfortable, moisturizing, and beautiful on the skin. As far as protection... well you know, we will see what happens. 🤞🏼 ✅ Would repurchase (assuming we aren’t being outright deceived.) Sending hugs to you all.🌻 The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+
✨My Morning Routine For Acne & Pigmentation✨
I’ve been testing out this routine for a few weeks now and it’s been working very well for me so I wanted to share it on here😊 CeraVe - SA Smoothing Cleanser I use this to cleanse my face for two reasons: I have been breaking out quite a bit (it’s that time of the month🥲) so I want a cleanser with salicylic acid (0.5%) in it to get into my pores and flush all of the gunk out of them; since this is an acid cleanser, the pH will be slightly lower and since vitamin C works best in a low pH environment, this is perfect for me. The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% I apply this to my skin once it’s dry, and I use about 3 drops for my face. I have a lot of pigmentation left behind from past blemishes and some dullness that I want to correct and so far I think this product is doing a nice job! It is very thin and absorbs quickly into the skin. It feels silky but not greasy on the skin once it’s applied. It is also very brightening. The Ordinary - Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% I use this in conjunction with my vitamin C + AA to amp up the effectiveness of the vitamin C and for added antioxidants. I have been enjoying this product quite a bit. It is thicker in texture than the vitamin C + AA serum. It is an oil-free serum but I think the texture does feel like an oil. I apply 3 drops of this to my face and once it’s absorbed it leaves a shiny finish but it does not feel thick or greasy. CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin My favourite moisturizer of all time. Super moisturizing and soothing. My skin is on the drier side so I can use this in the morning without it making me feel greasy or like my skin is suffocating. The product has a matte finish which is surprising since it is a thicker cream. I apply this about 5 minutes after my serums. SKIN AQUA - UV Super Moisture Gel SPF 50+ PA++++ I have been loving this sunscreen so much. It’s super easy to apply and it absorbs quickly. It leaves a dewy finish on the skin. It uses chemical filters so there is no white cast. I can put this around my eyes without experiencing any irritation or stinging. I like to wait 5 minutes after I apply my moisturizer before I apply my sunscreen. When I’m not using my Skin Aqua sunscreen, the #Benton - Mineral Sun Cream SPF 50+ PA++++[products]#[FiveStars] is my go-to. This one is great if you prefer mineral UV filters. Even though it is an entirely mineral sunscreen, it has zero white cast! It is also very nourishing and hydrating. This is my favourite mineral sunscreen that I have ever tried. This has been working really nicely for me so far and I have noticed that my skin is brighter and my pigmentation is beginning to fade after a few weeks of use.
After microneedling and 3 weeks update
I had microneedling 3 weeks ago using 0.75mm on my forehead and 1.5mm arround my cheeks. They told me to use mild cleanser on the night after followed by skinstitut Rejuvenate 15. I then add micellar water and mist before rejuve15 on my 3rd day and use cerave moisturiser after rejuve15 until the 5th day. After all the scabs have been removed I then used my niacimide and buffet because skin is still purging but I stop using the rejuvenate15. I also add retinol once a week to control my fine lines. skinstitut - Rejuvenate 15 Serum CeraVe - Hydrating Cream-To-Foam Cleanser skinstitut - Multi-Active Mist CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream The Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion The Ordinary - ''Buffet'' The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% OLAY - Complete UV365 Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 I noticed my skin became brighter and my pores smaller after the sesh of microneedling. With all the products Im using I dont know now what actually works for me. 🤦♀️😩
Skinstitut - your thoughts ?
Skinstitut - the start of my skincare journey. I had never dealt with acne or breakouts growing up until I hit my early 20’s, where I started breaking out on my chin, so, around June-2017 I started going into a clinic and having microdermabrasions / peels etc. The therapist there recommended that I start using Skinstitut - I had never really been into skincare products so I thought I would give it a go. They were expensive, but if you bought 3 at a time it worked out to be cheaper. The products I was recommended were : AM Routine: skinstitut - Gentle Cleanser skinstitut - Rejuvenate 15 Serum skinstitut - Multi-Active Mist skinstitut - Age Defence SPF 50+ PM Routine: Skinstitut - Gentle Cleanser skinstitut - Even Blend Serum Skinstitut - Multi-Active Mist skinstitut - Moisture Defence – Normal Twice a week I would also exfoliate with skinstitut - Glycolic Scrub 14% When I started using the products, I absolutely loved them! The products, combined with the skin treatments seemed to really be working for me. But, as time went on, I started to notice that my face was getting quite oily. I had advised the therapist what was happening, and she told me that I was probably dehydrated and using too much product - I know that I am not dehydrated (I drink thattt much water!!!) and I definitely don’t use too much product - they are so expensive, I try and savor as much product as I can! I kept my skincare routine up, but wasn’t noticing any changes, if anything my T-zone in particular was getting more and more oily. So, I decided to change the products I was using - and this is where my love for skincare began! I would love to know anyone’s thoughts on Skinstitut - have you used it ? What did you think of it ? Let’s have a chat!!
Night time skin care routine🌙🛀🏻
I have combination to oily skin and this routine makes my skin very happy :))) Step 1💚 I start out with FARMACY - Green Clean Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm and massage it for about 30 seconds and then rinse it off with water. It melts off effortlessly. I absolutely love this product the best first cleanse I’ve ever used, gets rid of glam makeup easily. Step 2❤️ I then go in with a dime size amount of the FIRST AID BEAUTY - Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser With Red Clay this cleanser is amazing it cleans deep into my pores. It isn’t overly stripping at all, makes your skin feel freshly moisturized. Step 3💛 While my skin is still damp I apply the The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% this is a great inexpensive serum. It has helped with sebum control and the appearance of pores. I was hoping it would reduce my redness but I haven’t seen any results with that. This works really well for preventing breakouts and can be used with other active ingredient. I use this every morning and night. Step 4💙 I then apply the CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin this is a great basic moisturizer that does its job of protecting my skin from transepidermal water loss overnight. Step 5🤍 I apply a pea size amount of 1-2 times a weekDRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni Retinol Cream this product is pricy but will last forever. I have been slowly introducing retinol to my skin. Applying over a moisturizer dilutes the penetration of a retinol, doing this I haven’t experienced any purging or drying. I’ve only been using this for 3 weeks and it has really helped fade some acne scars. I haven’t seen any results for wrinkles yet. Overall I would definitely recommend this product

Quick but EFFECTIVE morning routine using Cerave
Fun fact: using too many products on your skin can actually have more harm than good. The best advice someone gave me was to start simple, then ADD once you understand what products and ingredients work for you! So this is my super quick but effective morning routine for when I’m in a rush! Using only 3 products from one of my favorite skin care company. I started using Cerave from a recommendation from a dermatologist. I was having a hard time controlling my breakouts and couldn’t find any products that weren’t overly expensive. He told me about Cerave and how it was affordable with natural ingredients to help my skin. I started this 3 step routine and immediately saw my breakouts clear. I’ve since been able to add additional steps to my skincare routine but like I said starting off simple, figuring out what works for your skin is so IMPORTANT! I love Cerave because it is affordable, clean, and a great start to improving your skincare routine! Three steps: Cleansing Vitamin C Moisturizer Sunscreen (so technically 4 steps cause we can’t ever forgot to protect our skin!) My skin is oily/combination so I found using the CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin this is my all time go to facial cleanser. If your skin is oily or combination I would highly recommend. I would not reccomend if your skin is dry. It’s fragrance free, non-irritating, and it won’t clog your pores. I prefer this cleanser over others because it helps control the oil on my face without drying out my skin. It also contains 3 essential ceramides, niacinamide & hyaluronic acid to help restore your skin barrier. This product actually was one of the main reasons my face stopped breaking out so bad. I’ve been using this product for about 6 months now and have seen some great results! Next up I love using the CeraVe - Skin Renewing Vitamin C Serum this vitamin C serum helps to brighten my skin, stimulate collagen, and even help with fine lines. Only use vitamin c in the morning. This is actual the first vitamin C product I’ve used on my face. I use this every morning (NOT at night) and it helps brighten my face, improves skin tone, and texture. I actually use this instead of using a face toner. Toners tend to clog my pores and this provides the brightness and evenness I crave for my skin! Step 3 is always an important one: moisturize! I can’t live without my CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin I even keep the travel size in my purse. Like I said Cerave is so affordable this Daily Moisturizer is only $12. And for $12 you get a lightweight formula that provides 24-hour hydration. Does not contain any oil and it’s recommended for normal to dry skin. I use this in the morning (I use a different moisturizer at night). And ALWAYS WEAR YOUR SUNSCREEN!! In a rush, no big deal! Use this simple but still effective morning routine. Less than 5 mins and you’re out the door!

1 week progress - repairing my moisture barrier
This week I’ve cut out chemical and physical exfoliants. I do plan to slowly add them back in and not overuse them. (See previous post) The first video is from this morning and DISCLAIMER I am wearing making but I’m wearing a tinted moisturizer and not a full coverage foundation. Also - I’m not wearing any highlighter. I feel like this new routine as really helped me have that natural glow by adding moisture back to the skin. I see major improvements in my texture and decrease in acne and red irritated skin. What I’ve been using this week: CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skin TATCHA - The Essence Plumping Skin Softener The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion

Vulnerability check in. I’m very proud of what my skin has been through to get this far but sometimes I’m not completely satisfied! Does that make sense? In a perfect world I would have glass skin but I know as a large pore person that is going to take some time lol. So I’m learning to be patient with myself with this skin care journey I’ve been on and just enjoy the ride! And even if I don’t ever have that glass look, I’m happy knowing I’m giving my face the best things for it to be healthy and hydrated 💛 What are your #skinthoughts ?
