Skincare solutions for stressed-out skin
There is a tonne of reasons that your skin becomes ‘stressed’ - dehydration, exposure to UV, harmful pollutants, free radicals... When your cortisol levels are too high, it does more than throw your metabolism out of whack and induce insatiable sugar cravings. It also wreaks havoc with your skin. Stripping it back to basics, the simplest things you can do to keep your skin happy are sleep, exercise and relax, what else can you do? Sometimes, products can begin to irritate your skin during a time of extreme stress, so bringing your routine back to basics and eliminating any products with excess fragrance, colors or dyes, letting your complexion breathe without foundation for at least 6 to 8 hours a day. It’s a good time to give your skin a little break. I actually don’t have a major skin concern, and I just feeling like my skin is not as good as it could be at this time. Sometimes it gets sensitive and dull. I don’t want to use anything too harsh that would irritate or dry out my skin further at this time. I typically pairing my routine way back and adding simple, hard-working solutions. (Eliminate any products that may cause irritation.) I'd add an emollient moisturizer into my lineup. CeraVe is always my first choice, it’s not going to be too heavy or rich, it just bring back the barrier protection of my skin. CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin

🌞MORNING ROUTINE ESSENTIAL🌞
Do you have Vitamin C in your morning routine ? I got the ONE LOVE ORGANICS - Botanical C Facial Serum in my September Laurel & Reed box and haven’t looked back ever since, you won’t believe the GL☀️W. 💪🏼 |PERFORMANCE| This vitamin C serum is amazing, I’m so impressed with the glow. I’ve been using it every morning for a couple weeks now and my skin has been looking bright and fresh. It’s a clean and effective product with a nicer price point then some of the other vitamin Cs out there. 🤲🏻 |TEXTURE| this oil based serum is super hydrating and easy to spread, you really only need 1 pump of this super concentrated product to get serious results. 👃🏻|SCENT| okay, so I actually really like the scent of this serum. Some vitamin C serums can smell really.... interesting ?! I’m looking at you SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum.. anybody else think this smells like hotdog water? Anyways, This ones a ultra faint floral smell that probably comes from the rosehip oil and rose extract. Which can sometimes give me a bit of a reaction, but in this case it’s quite pleasant and not overbearing 💦 |INGREDIENTS| 🌱Vitamin C ester: a potent, moisturizing and stable form of vitamin C to boost radiance. 🌱Plant-powered C complex: Rosehip, baobab, acerola and sea buckthorn deliver a full range of plant-based C nutrients. 🌱Hops extract- a botanical active to encourage a more radiant complexion 💸 |VALUE| This bottle goes for $95 for 30mls, it’s quite an investment but I think it’s well worth it. I use it every morning and you literally only need 1 pump to cover your entire face. Less is really more with this product. It comes in a brown bottle which is super important with vitamin C serums, that they aren’t exposed to light. I also like that it’s in a pump bottle instead of a dropper so you don’t have to worry about excess oxidation, which will make your serum less effective
The perfect dupe (better than??) SkinCeuticals
Left: DR. BRONNER'S - Vitamin C Serum with Ferulic Acid (Vitamin C 20%, Vitamin E 1%, & Ferulic Acid 0.5%) Right: SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum (Vitamin C 15%, Vitamin E 1%, & Ferulic Acid 0.5%) The first obvious pro for Dr. Brenner? Price. $17 vs $166 (😬). Now let’s compare ingredients— •Dr. Brenner: Water, Ethoxydiglycol, L-Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) 20%, Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Laureth-23, Tocopherol (Vitamin E) 1%, Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid ) 1%, Ferulic Acid .5%, Panthenol, Triethanolamine, Phenoxyethanol •SkinCeuticals: Water, Ethoxydiglycol, L-ascorbic acid (15%), Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Laureth-23, phenoxyethanol, tocopherol (1%), triethanolamine, ferulic acid (0.5%), panthenol, sodium hyaluronate So they quite literally are the exact same ingredients. In fact, Dr. Brenner’s has more hyaluronic acid @ 1%. Although no percentage is listed w/ SkinCeuticals, we know it’s less, as it’s listed lower on the ingredients list. Both are manufactured in the U.S. Dr. Brenner’s has helped with my discoloration, acne scarring, and brightening/tightening my skin. If these are concerns you have and have been considering SkinCeuticals but don’t have the budget, this serum from Dr. Brenner is a fantastic dupe! Apply serum to dampened face to increase absorption, after washing but before any moisturizers or oils.
THIS CLEARED MY ACNE IN 3 MONTHS!(IM IN LOVE )
Ok the title may be a bit dramatic but seriously back in June or July I started noticing I got serious case maskne I was very depressed about it was spending $60-100$ on skincare and it didn’t do crap :( I thought drying lotion and biore was doing it for me , and it wasn’t at all my skin was so overwhelmed with all the things I was putting on it until I went back to basics and subscribed to curology (that didn’t last long btw) the products - CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin MARIO BADESCU - Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater sukin - Certified Organic Rosehip Oil 50ml DICKINSON'S - Original Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser 1. First I wash my face with CeraVe Pat dry with a paper towel next I take a cotton pad and drench it in witch hazel ( I know witch hazel is iffy for some people but it works for me and it really improved my skin care routine all the years I’ve had acne . I use CeraVe Moisturizer Cream + Azalaic Acid I used Curology for 3 months , it improved my skin texture blemishes and overall pimples however it got expensive and I started to use alternatives as the weeks went on , Azelaic was in my prescription (4%, I use 10% now ) That combo is a bit drying even if CeraVe says it’s moisture 😩so I usually spray my face with rose water spray (there’s no real benefits to it I just like doing it tbh ), after that I slap my face with rose hip oil , the best thing /oil ive ever purchased I spent years thinking oil meant acne and breakouts I just had to find the right oil and it’s rose hip it’s a game changer my maskne scars are completely gone .
Soothing Stressed Skin 😅🤧🍂💻
School + Change in Weather + Blue Light + Anxiety = STRESS😩❗️ 🧖🏻♀️2nd & 3rd Slide: Left Pic=before, Right Pic=after/taken today!🧖🏻♀️ I’m a college student (studying Cosmetics & Fragrance Marketing) & I’ve recently had to endure two weeks of midterms. 😰😰 this meant MORE time on the computer studying (my school is fully remote learning), MORE time anxiously touching my face, & MORE time wiping the tears from my eyes lol 😂 & did I mention I’ve been working with a 6 hour time difference ?😅 some nights I have class til midnight! The excessive blue light I’ve found has been making my skin dull. And due to my anxiety, I’ve noticed that I was touching my face more often & biting my nails😅 And with the weather becoming colder, my skin & my lips have become so dry & tight 😕 and my sleep pattern has already been disrupted. 😴 I was seeing redness & splotchy patches develop on my skin. A few spots started to take form but not a lot of texture, more so irritation and stress. Now that midterms are finally over, I’ve been taking EXTRA care of my skin (and involving my boyfriend too 😊). Here are some of the products that I found that helped soothe my skin ⬇️⬇️ CAUDALIE - Instant Detox Mask 🍇 The Caudalie mask has gently helped the irritation & redness while also treating the blemishes. It leaves the skin feeling nourished & moisturized instead of stripped. (My bf’s fave mask) CLARISMA - Angel Sleeping Balm Night Mask 👼🏻 The Clarisma mask has helped soothe & moisturize my skin without any greasy feeling. I love to double mask & will use this sometimes after the Caudalie one. CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin 🦋The CeraVe cream has been a staple in my skincare routine. I variate between this one and the CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin but recently it’s been the Moisturizing Cream I’ve been reaching for because of its richer consistency & texture. ❕And I’ve been adding a thicker amount under my eyes as an “eye cream” which I’ve noticed has been helping with dullness❕ The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% 💧My go-to product! Everyone talks about this product&to me, it’s worth the hype. You cant beat the price point & results from it. 🔊Trying to calm the redness around my nose! Recs welcome 😘 ❓What do you use to help soothe your skin❓ 📱Would love to discuss in the comments 📱
Products to Mix for Aging Skin
🐘 Drunk Elephant A-Passioni Retinol Cream -A 1% retinol (which is pretty dang strong for an over the counter) to speed up cell turnover and minimize signs of aging that also contains plumping peptides so form the skin and antioxidant rich ingredients such as winter cherry juice, kale leaf extract, and marula see oil to brighten and nourish 🐘 Drunk Elephant B Hydra -A hydrating gel serum containing humectants such as hyaluronic acid and pro vitamin B5 to draw in moisture and plump the skin as well as ceramides to strengthen the skin barrier. 🐘 I love these two together because retinol while an amazing ingredient can definitely be a little bit drying for some. B Hydra helps work as a buffer when mixed A Passioni and minimizes dryness and irritation while delivering hydration. I also am not a huge fan of the texture of A Passioni so mixing it with B Hydra really makes the texture more palatable for me. And the best thing about Drunk Elephant is that because they don’t use silicones any of their products can be mixed and applied in one step.
DRUNK ELEPHANT-A-Passioni Retinol Cream
B-Hydra was the first @drunkelephant product I started using when I first picked up their littles to try everything out. It did not irritate my sensitive skin at all and made me feel confident to continue to slowly try more of their line. I was recently traveling and ran out of my second mini and wasn’t able to replace it immediately and went 5 days without it. I’m glad this happened because I was able to see how it affected my skin after not having it for the first time in months. I noticed that my skin looked and felt less hydrated and I felt I had to add some extra moisture in other areas. As someone with dry skin, I will continue to purchase this since I appreciate the hydration that it offers.
DRUNK ELEPHANT-B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum
INGREDIENT HIGHLIGHT: HYALURONIC ACID
What is it? Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that occurs naturally in the skin. It binds water to collagen, trapping it in the skin, thereby keeping skin plump, healthy and hydrated. Why is it important? There are several factors that can make skin dehydrated. HA acts as a humectant to attract water to the skin thus increasing hydration. HA is great for all skin types as it retains moisture, improves appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, replenishes cell moisture, speeds wound healing. Medik8 - HYDR8 B5 Liquid Rehydration Serum This is my favourite hydrating serum. I also like their Hydra8 B5 Intense serum. It contains a blend of Hyaluronic acid and Vitamin B5. It improves skin texture, boosts moisture retention, and keep the skin healthy. It also helps rebalance moisture levels in oily skin. It has anti-inflammatory and anti-itching properties. It has a lightweight watery texture. It is vegan and cruelty-free, suitable for all skin types including the sensitive skin. It has a oil-free formulation. It has a glass packaging. I use 5-6 drops of it after cleansing my face, both in my morning and evening routine. It absorbs easily into the skin. It plumps up my skin along with deeply hydrating. This serum provides much needed moisture boost to my normal to dry skin. The price is $49 for 30 ml . I recommend this to everyone especially who has dehydrated skin. This serum will provide deep hydration along with other skin benefits. #CherieCreator
Medik8-HYDR8 B5 Liquid Rehydration Serum
Aveeno - MaxGlow Infusion Drops This serum is designed to give your that “yoga skin” look you’ve always dreamt of. It enhances your natural glow while locking in moisture for over 48 hours. Soy and kiwi are their featured ingredients. Soy helps moisturize, improve skin tone, texture and radiance. The serum’s texture is a little milky but it is very lightweight and it won’t make your skin look oily, which crucial because dewy shouldn’t feel or look oily. I like mixing it with my moisturizer in order to add that extra glow and hydration. (Mix it with an oil free moisturizer, otherwise it does get oily). I love the natural look it leaves on your skin. It’s also great for when your skin is going through dryness or redness. It soothes it nicely. Overall it’s been a good experience, it’s a fun serum to play with and it delivers what it claims to do. Nothing out of this world. I think I would recommend it if you’re into having a natural look but if that’s not your style, I probably would pass it because it isn’t all that cheap ($24). Is it worth it? It’s a hard call knowing that there are many serums that offer the same result for maybe less. I think it all goes back to personal preference. Maybe start with the smaller size.

The BEST k-beauty skincare product!!!
Amorepacific Vintage Single Extract Essence ($145/4.05oz) What it is: An anti-aging essence with only six ingredients to improve skin’s firmness, clarity, and texture with the antioxidant power of fermented green tea. Skincare Concerns: Fine Lines and Wrinkles, Dryness, and Dullness and Uneven Texture. Formulation: Lightweight Liquid. My Experience: To be honest, I have been wanting to try this beauty since I discovered k-beauty. But I just could not justify spending over $100 for an essence, so I was incredible grateful when they gifted me this bottle back in April. This baby is priceeeey ($145) but since the green tea leaves are handpicked and fermented for 50 days, then aged naturally for another 50 days, and extracted for 24 hrs in a slow extraction process to create the perfect product; I totally get the price. Green tea leaf extract helps visibly improve skin’s clarity, texture, and elasticity with anti-pollution properties. And it does exactly that! I love how insanely hydrating and plumping my skin feels. I also think it makes other products to sink better. I apply two (or more) layers of this gem because my dehydrated skin loves all the hydrating layers. It is watery and I can detect an earthy smell. With only 6 ingredients, this essence is everything I have ever wanted in an essence and even more. And I am obsessed with it!! Especially since it does not contain fragrance and I truly think my oily skin is more balanced since I started using this gem. It has helped with my oil production, reduced redness and evened out my skin tone. It is powerful! I know it is an essence but this beauty works overnight. Since my skin type is oily, I can use it everyday without any issues but if you have dry skin I think this can be too much for everyday usage, I would recommend using it 3x a week instead. Is it worth it ? If you have oily skin, hyperpigmentation, uneven tone, redness, and it is within your budget, I say it is absolutely worth it! It is an investment for sure but this miracle product truly works overnight. Are there other alternatives? Maybe. The Fresh Kombucha Essence is the closest I have found but my only concern with that one is that it contains fragrance, which I prefer a skincare product not to have. Battle the dark spots
Hey! 👋 it’s been a bit but I am going to try to be a bit more active as I have some products I’ve been using to give you the scoop on! . ——— First up is this lovely set by @caudalie I’ve been using it for a full month now (nights only) so I feel confident giving you my thoughts . Vinoperfect Anti-dark Spot Serum - said to be 62 times more effective than vitamin C. Retails for $79 This can be used morning and night. I just used it in the evenings. Thoughts - I really liked this serum. Very lightweight, little bit more structure than water. Minimal scent. I experienced no irritation. After a months use I still have 3/4 a bottle. So this will last quite awhile, but not as long if using both day and night . Vinoperfect Brightening Glycolic Essence - An natural brightening essence powered by Glycolic Acid for brighter, more evened skin. Retails for $49 My thoughts - Again a hit. The light scent of grapes is heavenly. This is a water consistency as most essences are. My face felt instantly hydrated. I sometimes used this in the am for that extra boost of hydration . Vinoperfect Brightening Overnight Glycolic Cream A dark spot diminishing cream. Retails for $65 My thoughts - This wasn’t my favorite. I found it very hard to absorb into my skin. I’d have a white cast similar to sunscreen no matter how little I put on. I’d add it after the serum and follow up with a moisturizer or oil. I just didn’t care for the consistency but overall I liked it . Final thoughts - while I did find this to brighten and help (slightly) to fade some spots I can’t say I’d purchase again. One, the price range is just too high for my liking and two, I like the results I get from FARMACY - Honeymoon Glow Serum better. Even if I stuck with just the serum and cream it would be $114 compared to Honeymoon Glow at $58 I was influenced by my girl Hope @skincareandgreentea and very glad I gave it a shot. No regrets! . Hope this Sunday finds you all healthy and full of cheer. Keep focus on the positives! Last night my family and I had a breakfast feast! I love every once in awhile to do breakfast for dinner. Everyone manned a station and we ate to our hearts content ❤️ #blessed
