Skincare solutions for stressed-out skin
YourGalSkye
There is a tonne of reasons that your skin becomes ‘stressed’ - dehydration, exposure to UV, harmful pollutants, free radicals... When your cortisol levels are too high, it does more than throw your metabolism out of whack and induce insatiable sugar cravings. It also wreaks havoc with your skin.
Stripping it back to basics, the simplest things you can do to keep your skin happy are sleep, exercise and relax, what else can you do?
Sometimes, products can begin to irritate your skin during a time of extreme stress, so bringing your routine back to basics and eliminating any products with excess fragrance, colors or dyes, letting your complexion breathe without foundation for at least 6 to 8 hours a day. It’s a good time to give your skin a little break.
I actually don’t have a major skin concern, and I just feeling like my skin is not as good as it could be at this time. Sometimes it gets sensitive and dull.
I don’t want to use anything too harsh that would irritate or dry out my skin further at this time.
I typically pairing my routine way back and adding simple, hard-working solutions. (Eliminate any products that may cause irritation.)
I'd add an emollient moisturizer into my lineup. CeraVe is always my first choice, it’s not going to be too heavy or rich, it just bring back the barrier protection of my skin.

I used the skin ceuticals Vitamin C holy grail
6 months after I started to take better care of my skin.
Here’s some pics non filtered of my routine.
1. I purchased the SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum the most recommended from dermatologist and was definitely not sure whether to purchase or no because of its price. Thank god I did 🙏 this is really the holy grail.
2. The OLE HENRIKSEN - Banana Bright Eye Crème this eye cream was gifted to me by cousin over a year ago. I love it. It’s absolutely amazing.
3. Last but no least thanks to Cherie for gifting me absolutely the best eye cream ever used Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40
Highly recommend these products. The most important is being consistent and using them every morning.

Is it going to be worth the 💸?
I just received this in the mail and I am SO EXCITED! I have heard so many good things about the SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum and as I read further about it, the SKINCEUTICALS - Phloretin CF Prevent Serum Antioxidant Treatment seems to be more suited for my oily and acne-prone skin.
I will be trying this product and make a review in a month. I hope it is going to be worth the price. 🙃
Have you tried it? Let me know in the comments!

CeraVe Facial Mosituriser: Sunscreen and Lotion!
Hey Beauty’s 🙋🏽♀️
I started using CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin four weeks ago. I needed a new day cream as I had completed a 3 month trial using Auquest 5 Second Wrinkle Cream. I posted my results in January so if you want to know more check out my previous post. ☺️
CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin was highly recommended here so, Cherie 🍒 made me buy it! Although it’s for normal to dry skin, it also works well for people with skin conditions, like psoriasis. I suffer from psoriasis. 🙃 I have combination skin which is more on the oily side but I really wanted to give CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin a try as it’s recommended by dermatologists.
CeraVe was developed by dermatologists and uses a patented formulation to protect the skin barrier. The Company call the formulation, Multivesicular Emulsion Technology. It’s ensures CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin will be time released throughout the day for complete hydration. It also uses three different ceramides which help retain water 💧 and strengthen and repair the skin barrier.
My thoughts 💭
🧚♀️ It’s fragrance free, no parabens and non-comedogenic (doesn’t clog pores), ✅ which is great since I have larger than average pores 🙃
🧚♀️ CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin has an SPF 15 with broad spectrum protection and can be classed as a secondary sunscreen in Australia. An SPF15 can block 93.3% of UVR compared to SPF30 which blocks 97%. So technically I feel I could use it as my sunscreen but, because I’m 45, I like to apply an SPF30. ☺️
🧚♀️ It has a nice lightweight texture and easily absorbs into your skin. I didn’t purge when I added it to my day routine! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
🧚♀️ My skin loves this cream, it feels smoother and softer and it keeps my skin hydrated 💦 all day.
🧚♀️ It retails for $22 in Australia 🇦🇺 I love the price point!
Although I’ve only been using it for a month, I’m giving CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin 4 stars!!!! It’s ticked a lot of boxes for me but as it’s only my initial review I didn’t want to give it too much Kudos. I’m loving it and feel a little sad as I have a new GLOW RECIPE - Banana Soufflé Moisture Creamthat I’d like to trial after the CeraVe. But, I don’t really want to swap it out. 😂😂😂 I guess that’s the Dilemma of being a Creator. I don’t always keep using what’s working because I like to review new products. 🙃
Let me know if you tried the CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin and if it worked for you. I’d love to hear from you.
Have a wonderful day!

Skin Journey
Just wanted to share my journey struggling with acne. Growing up I had perfect clear skin, no acne whatsoever, was comfortable going in public with no makeup on and I had a perfect complexion until I graduated high school and I started breaking out. I used to call it, puberty but backwards lol.
I tried everything and nothing worked on me. I even tried changing my diet and stopped eating dairy and meat all in one but still, nothing changed. I even drank more water and that didn’t do anything either.
I started watching Dr. Dray on YouTube about a couple years ago and I feel like she’s changed my routine. She says less is more and I swear by that.
Remember: what works for me may not work for you.
My skin is no where near perfect, but I’m extremely happy with how far I’ve come 🤍
Morning Routine:
- (I try to wash my face once a day. Usually wash with only water in the morning)
Sometimes I use Panoxyl if I’m breaking out.
COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence (On damp skin)
The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid Serum
 The Ordinary Azelaic Acid
Neutrogena - Sensitive Skin Oil-Free Moisture
CeraVe - Face Sheer Tint Hydrating Sunscreen SPF 30
Night Time Routine:
CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser
COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence
The Ordinary Niacinamide and Zinc
CeraVe - Resurfacing Retinol Serum
CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin
When I first started my skincare journey, I mainly started out small using cleanser, moisturizer and SPF then slowly incorporated these serums into my routine. I started using products with no fragrance in them and I feel like that helped my skin out a lot.
Also, I highly recommend watching Dr. Dray on YouTube!

Products to Mix for Aging Skin
🐘 Drunk Elephant A-Passioni Retinol Cream
-A 1% retinol (which is pretty dang strong for an over the counter) to speed up cell turnover and minimize signs of aging that also contains plumping peptides so form the skin and antioxidant rich ingredients such as winter cherry juice, kale leaf extract, and marula see oil to brighten and nourish
🐘 Drunk Elephant B Hydra
-A hydrating gel serum containing humectants such as hyaluronic acid and pro vitamin B5 to draw in moisture and plump the skin as well as ceramides to strengthen the skin barrier.
🐘 I love these two together because retinol while an amazing ingredient can definitely be a little bit drying for some. B Hydra helps work as a buffer when mixed A Passioni and minimizes dryness and irritation while delivering hydration. I also am not a huge fan of the texture of A Passioni so mixing it with B Hydra really makes the texture more palatable for me. And the best thing about Drunk Elephant is that because they don’t use silicones any of their products can be mixed and applied in one step.
DRUNK ELEPHANT-A-Passioni Retinol Cream
B-Hydra💧
B-Hydra was the first @drunkelephant product I started using when I first picked up their littles to try everything out. It did not irritate my sensitive skin at all and made me feel confident to continue to slowly try more of their line.
I was recently traveling and ran out of my second mini and wasn’t able to replace it immediately and went 5 days without it. I’m glad this happened because I was able to see how it affected my skin after not having it for the first time in months. I noticed that my skin looked and felt less hydrated and I felt I had to add some extra moisture in other areas. As someone with dry skin, I will continue to purchase this since I appreciate the hydration that it offers.

Aveeno - MaxGlow Infusion Drops
This serum is designed to give your that “yoga skin” look you’ve always dreamt of. It enhances your natural glow while locking in moisture for over 48 hours.
Soy and kiwi are their featured ingredients. Soy helps moisturize, improve skin tone, texture and radiance.
The serum’s texture is a little milky but it is very lightweight and it won’t make your skin look oily, which crucial because dewy shouldn’t feel or look oily.
I like mixing it with my moisturizer in order to add that extra glow and hydration. (Mix it with an oil free moisturizer, otherwise it does get oily).
I love the natural look it leaves on your skin. It’s also great for when your skin is going through dryness or redness. It soothes it nicely.
Overall it’s been a good experience, it’s a fun serum to play with and it delivers what it claims to do. Nothing out of this world.
I think I would recommend it if you’re into having a natural look but if that’s not your style, I probably would pass it because it isn’t all that cheap ($24).
Is it worth it? It’s a hard call knowing that there are many serums that offer the same result for maybe less. I think it all goes back to personal preference. Maybe start with the smaller size.

The BEST k-beauty skincare product!!!
Amorepacific Vintage Single Extract Essence ($145/4.05oz)
What it is: An anti-aging essence with only six ingredients to improve skin’s firmness, clarity, and texture with the antioxidant power of fermented green tea.
Skincare Concerns: Fine Lines and Wrinkles, Dryness, and Dullness and Uneven Texture.
Formulation: Lightweight Liquid.
My Experience: To be honest, I have been wanting to try this beauty since I discovered k-beauty. But I just could not justify spending over $100 for an essence, so I was incredible grateful when they gifted me this bottle back in April. This baby is priceeeey ($145) but since the green tea leaves are handpicked and fermented for 50 days, then aged naturally for another 50 days, and extracted for 24 hrs in a slow extraction process to create the perfect product; I totally get the price. Green tea leaf extract helps visibly improve skin’s clarity, texture, and elasticity with anti-pollution properties. And it does exactly that! I love how insanely hydrating and plumping my skin feels. I also think it makes other products to sink better. I apply two (or more) layers of this gem because my dehydrated skin loves all the hydrating layers. It is watery and I can detect an earthy smell. With only 6 ingredients, this essence is everything I have ever wanted in an essence and even more. And I am obsessed with it!! Especially since it does not contain fragrance and I truly think my oily skin is more balanced since I started using this gem. It has helped with my oil production, reduced redness and evened out my skin tone. It is powerful! I know it is an essence but this beauty works overnight. Since my skin type is oily, I can use it everyday without any issues but if you have dry skin I think this can be too much for everyday usage, I would recommend using it 3x a week instead. Is it worth it ? If you have oily skin, hyperpigmentation, uneven tone, redness, and it is within your budget, I say it is absolutely worth it! It is an investment for sure but this miracle product truly works overnight. Are there other alternatives? Maybe. The Fresh Kombucha Essence is the closest I have found but my only concern with that one is that it contains fragrance, which I prefer a skincare product not to have.

Battle the dark spots
Hey! 👋 it’s been a bit but I am going to try to be a bit more active as I have some products I’ve been using to give you the scoop on! .
———
First up is this lovely set by @caudalie I’ve been using it for a full month now (nights only) so I feel confident giving you my thoughts
.
Vinoperfect Anti-dark Spot Serum - said to be 62 times more effective than vitamin C. Retails for $79
This can be used morning and night. I just used it in the evenings.
Thoughts - I really liked this serum. Very lightweight, little bit more structure than water. Minimal scent. I experienced no irritation. After a months use I still have 3/4 a bottle. So this will last quite awhile, but not as long if using both day and night .
Vinoperfect Brightening Glycolic Essence - An natural brightening essence powered by Glycolic Acid for brighter, more evened skin. Retails for $49
My thoughts - Again a hit. The light scent of grapes is heavenly. This is a water consistency as most essences are. My face felt instantly hydrated. I sometimes used this in the am for that extra boost of hydration .
Vinoperfect Brightening Overnight Glycolic Cream
A dark spot diminishing cream. Retails for $65
My thoughts - This wasn’t my favorite. I found it very hard to absorb into my skin. I’d have a white cast similar to sunscreen no matter how little I put on. I’d add it after the serum and follow up with a moisturizer or oil. I just didn’t care for the consistency but overall I liked it
.
Final thoughts - while I did find this to brighten and help (slightly) to fade some spots I can’t say I’d purchase again. One, the price range is just too high for my liking and two, I like the results I get from FARMACY - Honeymoon Glow Serum better. Even if I stuck with just the serum and cream it would be $114 compared to Honeymoon Glow at $58
I was influenced by my girl Hope @skincareandgreentea and very glad I gave it a shot. No regrets! .
Hope this Sunday finds you all healthy and full of cheer. Keep focus on the positives!
Last night my family and I had a breakfast feast! I love every once in awhile to do breakfast for dinner. Everyone manned a station and we ate to our hearts content ❤️ #blessed
CAUDALIE-CONCENTRATED BRIGHTENING ESSENCE
Sephora for the win!!
Many serums can be priced around $30-50, even when they might not work that well! When I was looking to renew my skincare routine I found this- for only $20!!
Claims: Works with sensitive skin, helps increase radiance, improves and evens out skin tone
My thoughts: I would definitely say that this works with sensitive skin and helps even out skin tone! My redness has gone down a lot since I started using this product. As for radiance it definitely helped, but I only saw much difference after 2-3 months of usage (which is why I have it 4 stars). Overall a great product- would reccomend!!
