ElisabethDomondI’ve never heard of Afro Love before! Their products look good! Is the deep conditioner as good as you mentioned?? I have trouble retaining moisture with my hair sometimes so any deep conditioner that can help with that is a good one in my book 😂

Yarlin_I love this line. The deep conditioner is amazing,, it’s literally my favorite mask. Your hair will feel like butter every time you use it. I totally recommend it, you can get it on Amazon(it’s more pricier though) or in the beauty supply.

Natural hair chronicles.👩🏽‍🦱 Based off research & experience I’d say my hair is either high porosity or a mixture of ALL; medium, low & high. Knowing your hair porosity is far more important than the texture(s), when it comes to the health & hair integrity. However, I have multiple textures when its wet. Therefore, I still don’t know exactly how to cater to my whole head just yet & I’ve been natural for years. Protein overload 🚫 Ahhh, I realized recently that almost every product i’ve used had some type of protein in it.😳 My hair is very strong but doesn’t retain moisture like it used to. Consequently, I have to change my entire routine to products that don’t contain any protein or coconut oil. ❗️Knowing the difference between oils that can penetrate & provide strength vs oils that can penetrate & retain moisture is vital❗️ ⚠️Current Routine: Shampoo: SheaMoisture - Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo. I’ll be alternating withKinky-Curly - Come Clean, Natural Moisturizing Shampoofor clarifying. Conditioner: #Aussie - Miracle Coils[products]#[FiveStars] for detangling. Deep Conditioner: AS I AM - Jbco Moisturizing Masque ~ Styling: (not in order) 💆🏽‍♀️ SheaMoisture - Raw Shea Butter Extra-Moisture Detangler Kinky-Curly - Knot Today, Natural Leave In / Detangler MIELLE - Pomegranate & Honey Leave-In Conditioner #Camille Rose Naturals - Camille Rose Naturals Aloe Whipped Butter Gel[products]#[FiveStars] AS I AM - JBCO Leave-in Conditioner Curls - Brule Whipped Curl Cream Kurlee Belle - Thirsty Kurls Leave In Conditioner[products]#[FiveStars] DIY hair butter for sealing. ~ Ingredients: Shea, 🥭 Mango butter, Cupuacu butter, & Tucuma butter w added oils. (still experimenting) ❗️🗣I know my hair care needs some tweaking, if anybody could recommend any products that don’t contain anything that’ll contribute to my problem, or if anybody has dealt with a protein overload with Afro hair feel free to tell me your tips, experiences & how you overcame❗️🗣

Curly Girl Method! I've tried these so you don't need to try again!
I've tried several hair products for curly hair, and these are my favorite! Shampoos SheaMoisture - Argan Oil and Almond Milk Shampoo It smells like milk. I love that and the way this made my hair feel. Very smooth and non-greasy after washing. Conditioners SheaMoisture - Superfruit Complex 10 in 1 Renewal System Conditioner Some people don't like its scent, but I personally can accept it. The moisturizing effect is perfect. TRESemmé - Botanique Nourish + Replenish With Coconut Milk & Aloe Vera Conditioner It's affordable and it's so large that you can use it for a long time. Apply it and wait 5-8 minutes, then your hair will be like seaweed. Kinky-Curly - Knot Today, Natural Leave In / Detangler It smells like coconut. I use it as a moisturizer. I have now purchased 3 bottles of this. My hair cannot get enough. It is pricey, but so worth it. It is the best leave in conditioner I have ever tried. The best part about it is it's sans silicones sulfates or waxes. If you're looking for a great detangler that doesn't leave your hair greasy, this is the one for you. Leave-in conditioners SheaMoisture - Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Leave-In Conditioner It is a little greasy. I brush my hair with this leave in in during the shower and it keeps my hair silky and curls not frizzy Hair masks SheaMoisture - Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Masque I use it once every two weeks, staying for 15-20 minutes before washing off. After using it, it helps hydrate my hair. It’s very light and doesn’t dry with any residue! It leaves my curls feeling light weight! Curl defining gels DevaCurl - Light Defining Gel Soft Hold No-Crunch Styler I have medium length curly hair and I use about a quarter size for the initial scrunch from ends to root. I touch up around the entire head with another quarter size. Let dry and scrunch to release the cast from the gel. My hair and curls are so happy with this product. It is the holy grail for sure. SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie I use it to apply a little bit to the hair before setting. It makes your hair look a little oily.

Revlon one step review + thanks for 1k!
Christmas was extremely good to me last year (ah that sounds so weird 😣) I received a lot of things I was thankful for and one of those things ended up being my REVLON - Salon One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer ... okay so technically my mom told me to buy it as her gift to me but hey a gift is a gift 😂 Let me just start off by saying I have extremely thiccckkkk 4b/c hair. This went through my hair like nobodies business without me risking carpal tunnel like blowing my hair out with a blow dryer and brush does 😂 I was so amazed at how well it did because I thought it wouldn’t be heavy duty enough to get the job done and it was! Now I will say that a key to me doing my hair thoroughly was parting my hair. Usually when I do my hair I do four parts. I part my hair down the middle breaking it into 2 and then I part each section in half give me 4 parts in total. When I was using this I think I had 16 parts in total. Sounds super crazy and time consuming but I promise it wasn’t. I also made sure that I had my heat protectant on deck. I used twisted sista blow out creme and an ors olive oil heat protectant. I also deep conditioned my hair with the aussie - 3 Minute Miracle Moist Deep Conditioner for like an hour or two before blowing my hair out. As seen in the last picture I currently have my hair braided down. Over quarantine I’ve become a sucker for protective styles so I’ll braid my hair down like it’s nothing 😂 I really like the length blowing my hair out gave me. So this is my testimony for my coily girls! Also thank you for 1k everybody! This is really unreal to me (bc I have never been this popular before Omg) and I can’t wait to give you guys more content :) thank you so much for following me and reading my posts, it means so much to me ❤️

Starting the Journey to Healthy Curls
I started my journey to happy, healthy waves when I started quarantine (mid March). It’s been about seven months, and I’d like to drop some tips for people just starting! Some tips for starting: you do NOT need to break the bank when you’re just starting. A leave in conditioner and curl cream are all you need to get started! there is a transition period, and things will be rough at first. When you transition, your hair may get worse or not change before it gets better. Hair in transition needs moisture and a patient, gentle hand 💗 start with a clarifying shampoo. Buildup from everything you’ve done to and put on your hair will make transitioning and improving your hair 1000x harder don’t get overwhelmed-you don’t need to understand protein/moisture balance, density, what ingredients are good and bad, and also the other intricacies when you’re just starting keep a journal and take progress photos! I can’t even tell you how helpful it is Tips on your hair type: your actual hair TYPE, or how tight/loose your hair is is nearly irrelevant, especially when you start your type may be different throughout your hair, and it will change as you progress what’s more important is hair density, porosity, and damage ^ that’s what will affect how and which products are best for your hair Things I wish I’d known: don’t do everything at once! Add a product, wait and see how your hair reacts you don’t need to follow every curly girl rule! Your hair is unique and some rules will do more harm than good once you get out of your transition stage, experiment! Different types of styling will make a world of difference take photos of your journey! I feel like I’ve missed out on being able to actually SHOW how much my hair has improved because I hardly have any photos from the start Favorite products: PAUL MITCHELL - Clarifying Shampoo Three I have hard water so a weekly clarifying shampoo combined with a deep conditioner is essential to prevent buildup. This shampoo leaves my hair so smooth and light without being harsh! A necessity if you have hard water Aunt Jackie's - Curl Boss Coconut Curling Gelée A cheap, easy to find and super reliable gel. Still my favorite. Makes a nice cast, adds definition, and when scrunched out leaves a voluminous, soft curl that remains consistent until your next wash day aussie - 3 Minute Miracle Moist Deep Conditioner My absolute favorite feel conditioner, perfect for transition and is still my staple seven months in. Cheap and last forEVER! Nice smell, can be washed out immediately for a lighter condition or left 5+ minutes for an extra deep condition I’ll also strongly recommend apple cider vinegar washes-never has my hair been softer, smoother, shinier, and clumped easier then after an acv rinse(definitely will get around to doing a post on this!) Overall, just be patient with and love your hair and it will love you!

How I fully transitioned and grew my 4b/c hair
My hair journey is something that means a lot to me. As a child I was always known to have hair so long it reached the middle of my back. Whether my hair was curly, straight, braided or in twists it generated a lot of talk. That’s why when I went natural and lost basically all the length that I somewhat had it was such a shocker. I was natural as a child before I began to get a relaxer at around 3rd grade. It was needed since my mom had just gotten over breast cancer for a second time and my long thick curls were too much for her to take care of. My hair still retained its length, even as I went into middle school but once I hit 9th grade I’d realized something. My length was gone. Now I will say SOOOO many hair mistakes were made when I began doing my own hair in high school. I put too much heat to it, I manipulated it too much, and I didn’t care about my strands enough. I honestly don’t know at what point I realized I wanted to go natural but at the end of my sophomore year I did. My mother who is a very traditional black woman when it comes to hair made it crystal clear there was no way in hell I was getting the big chop I wanted. Because of this I was forced to transition over. I vividly remember the first product I used as a natural being SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie this served a good purpose since my number one goal at the time was curl definition. I don’t mind that as much anymore because I have come to terms with the fact that my hair type is NOT loose curls. Since quarantine that goal has changed. My goal I’m March went from “how do I get my hair to curl” to “okay how do I retain length and keep my hair healthy” and I knew my answer. Braids. I’ll be the one to say I absolutely LOVE braids but I HATE getting them professionally done for so many reasons. The main one being when my scalp gets too dirty the braids gotta go. That is a problem when braids cost 100 and I’m over them in a month 🗿. This pushed me to doing my own braids minus the braiding hair. Every two-three weeks I take my braids out, condition my dry dirty hair, wash the conditioner out, wash my hair, deep condition, and prep my hair for braids. Sometimes I blow dry my hair before I braid it (because I want the length😗) and sometimes I just braid my coily hair as is. This has helped keep my hair healthy and grow it all quarantine. These are the products I’ve used: AFRiCAN PRIDE - Olive Miracle Anti-Breakage Leave-in Conditioner AFRiCAN PRIDE - Olive Miracle Anti-Breakage Growth Oil DOO GRO - Mega Thick Hair Oil ECOCO - Eco Style Argan Oil Gel ECOCO - Eco Style Professional Styling Gel Black Castor & Flaxseed Oil cantu - Argan Oil Leave-In Conditioning Repair aussie - Miracle Moist 3 Minute Miracle with Avocado for Dry Hair Repair Maui MOISTURE - Heal & Hydrate + Shea Butter Hair Mask Aunt Jackie's - Don't Shrink Elongating Curling Gel

The perfect wash & go!🥰
🌀I’m in love with this hair product just bomb! If you have textured hair I recommend you to try this product because it is so good that it works as a one product wash & go for my thick curls. Makes my hair soft, defined and juicy(moisturized) . 🌀Afro Love curling puree is a thick curling cream which makes me think that could work on many different Afro textures depending on how much product you use. A little goes a long wait, so have that in mine if you’re heavy handed because you only need a little bit per section. 🌀This makes my hair look so juicy by providing moisturizer, definition, some hold and most of all softness. I’m big on having definition, volume and softness, however, I don’t like using gel; so I feel like this curling puree solve all of my problems. 🌀You can even use this to refresh. You can spray so water on the frizzy areas of your hair then add a bit of the curling puree and after it dries you can scrunch it out because it does leaves a cast which is good because it lets you know it can last a few days or even a week. 🌀I 100% recommended it. Afro Love never lets me down😌 AFRO LOVE - Curling Puree

🎀“Baby Hairs”🎀 (3A curls)
So before I get into this topic I want to give credit to all of the amazing Black & Latina women creators on all social media platforms bc they truly hold all of the best beauty advice So to get into this, I’m Latina & white. My dad is Hispanic and my mom is white. I wasn’t around my dad much growing up (or his family) so my mom was the one guiding me through my hair journey. If u know where I’m going with this.. it was kinda disastrous bc she gave me white girl hair advice and not mixed/textured hair girl advice. But luckily youtube exists. Fast forward to today, I’m still learning about my hair and trying to maintain my hair the best I can. I recently started playing around with my baby hairs because honestly it is such a look. I definitely keep it pretty simple and reserved by just trying to slick back and decrease frizz but this has been such a game changer for me. I’m able to achieve a more refined look using this gel in generally but also on my baby hairs. 10/10 if you have curly hair try this out. Also I have a new found respect & appreciation for laying edges because it is so challenging 💆🏽‍♀️ ECOCO - Eco Style Argan Oil Gel Also plz don’t roast me if this isn’t the best im still new to it 🥵

🍍Sleek Buns & Ponytails 🍍
This is such a great product , super affordable, and really could be used on all hair types. I pretty use it anytime I need to make my casual ponytails or buns a little more sleek and clean. My little frizzies can make my updos sloppy and this helps hold my hair in place, especially around my face. I wish I would have been using this years ago 🥰 ECOCO - Eco Style Argan Oil Gel

My Bunny & Her Hair 🐰
We call her Bunny. Her name is Heather Olivia. She is almost 5 years old. I was a mother long before she came along. A mother to 3 boys which, at the time of her birth, made me feel unqualified for the job of raising a girl. The youngest girl in my family at the time was 18 years old so I did not have much experience with girls since there were so many males in my family. Over time, this irrational feeling of not measuring up went away and I am now confident in my mothering of a young African American female. There was only one issue I had a problem tackling - her hair! I didn’t know much about doing a girls hair and I couldn’t just take her to a barber like my boys. So, I started out by doing what I did to my hair when I started my natural hair care journey. I even used the same products and she still uses these products to this very day! I searched YouTube videos and learned so much from them. I practiced on her and now I think I’ve got it! Now, she loves when I do her hair and I’m more comfortable doing it. Today I had to do some finger coils on her hair and she absolutely loved it. I even let her pick out her headband! Here is the list of products used during her normal regimen and today: Mane‘n Tail - Deep Moisturizing Shampooand SheaMoisture - Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Rinse-Out Conditionerwere used for washing her hair. cantu - Shea Butter Leave in Conditioning Repair Cream and SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus, Kids Curling Butter Creamwere used on her hair as leave ins. Hot Six Oil, SheaMoisture - 100% Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, ECOCO - Eco Style Olive Oil GelandMiss Jessie's - Pillow Soft Curlswere used to seal in moisture as well as for styling her amazingly curly 3C/4A hair.

CG Method-Friendly Curl Defining Gels for Summer
Summer is around the corner in the Southern Hemisphere. In Australia, the weather is already warming up and the sun is getting shinier by the day ☀️ With a humid climate on the way, you’ll want to protect your wavy, curly and coils hair with moisture. You’ll also need a curl defining gel that can withstand the conditions. Here are some examples of affordable curl defining gels that are Curly Girl Method friendly for your upcoming summer adventures:   What is Curl Defining Gel? This type of product is designed to tame and define curls by trapping moisture in the hair and protecting it from frizz. This is all whilst enhancing your natural curly texture. Wavy Hair Textures: AA curl defining gel might be too heavy for waves. Try lighter styling products like creams or mousses. Try kms - Curlup Control Creme or MATRIX - Curl Please Super Defrizzer . Curly Hair Textures: Those of you with more defined and tighter curls can probably handle a curl defining gel. A gel like aussie - Instant Freeze Hair with Jojoba Oil & Sea Kelp Gel is great for humidity. You can also try BIOSILK - Rock Hard Gelee for another affordable option. Coily Hair Textures: Our coily CGM friends always rave about the cantu - Shea Butter for Natural Hair Coconut Curling Cream and ECOCO - Eco Style Olive Oil Gel for an affordable and long-lasting hold. Why are These Products Curly Girl Method Friendly? The curly girl method approves brands and products that don’t include harmful, drying and dirtying ingredients. These include sulphates, silicones, mineral oils, parabens, alcohols etc. You can use a site like www.isitcg.com to check your products ingredients! Pro Tips for Using Curl Defining Gel: 🖤 Most hair types will benefit from additional moisture during the warmer months. 🖤 When you get out the shower after washing your hair, wring some water out, take a blob of leave in conditioner, and squeeze it into your hair. 🖤 Scrunch from the ends up to the root. 🖤 Follow this up with a blob of curl defining gel, mousse or cream. Scrunch it into your hair to lock in the moisture and encourage a curly texture. 🖤 Towels can be damaging to curly hair so scrunch with an old t-shirt to dry off the hair some more.

ALWAYS detangle your curly hair wet!
So when I was a kid, I learned the hard way that you can't brush dry, curly hair. I know it's doable for straight haired-peeps, but curly hair is NOT having it. Even if you NEED to detangle it, but can't shower, it's a good idea to spray it with water. Seriously, little spray bottles of water and conditioner are our friends. My 3A curled hair mom taught me how to brush my hair properly after. I've added my own twists to it, but here's what I do: 🌿 STEPS 🌿 Start with wet hair. As said above! Yes, your hair is more sensitive and elastic wet. But dry brushing disrupts curl patterns. Also, use lukewarm - cold water in the shower! Hot water makes curls more frizzy. Apply generous detangler/conditioner I've found that any conditioner, even non leave-in, can work. If you use leave-in, make sure it's a silicone-free conditioner so it doesn't build up in your hair. My favorite is the SheaMoisture - Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Conditionerwhich I've reviewed as a great, moisturizing product with rice protein and coconut oil. It has no sulfates or silicones, and has helped make my best hair days. Here, I also tried the Carol's Daughter - Black Vanilla Moisture & Shine Hydrating Conditioner ($10.99 for 12 oz) It has a delicious, warm scent, with nourishing biotin and Vitamin B5. The only con is it has some silicones, so this may be better as a wash-out product in the shower. Start with your fingers, and work from the bottom Basically: little by little. Your fingers can work out the biggest tangles better than a wide tooth comb can. Also, brushing from the top of your head tends to break hair there, causing the dreaded frizz halo. Starting from the bottom means less tugging- And even if there is breakage, it's in a section you can trim. Pick gentle tools. Wide tooth combs work out big knots- Whereas fine tooth ones can get stuck in tangles and tug at more hairs. I use the Wet brush - Original Detangler The bristles are gentle and bendy- So they won't snap through stuck hair. Use it only after you’ve work out the biggest knots. The balls at the end of the bristles can get snagged, so this is best for your final touches. Still, with conditioner, it glides through hair like better- And it gently works through subtle tangles so my curl pattern can form neatly again. Use preventative measures. Put your hair in a ponytail while you do sports. Make sure to wash it every week. Don’t neglect conditioning. And to REALLY amp up your curls after brushing, scrunch them with gel! What brushes do you guys recommend for detangling wet curly hair ?

All-Natural Drugstore 💇🏻‍♀️Brand You Must Know
Shea Moisture Lets started by introducing my favorite drugstore Brand Shea Moisture. This is the product of my transitioning to all-natural hair products. This a very popular brand. I’ve seen so many reviews on each lines and finally decided to try myself. I am impressed by this line, Shea Moisture uses certified organic ingredients with no sulfates, no Parabens, no Phthalates, no Paraffin, No mineral oil and no Petrolatum. Shea Moisture got tons of lines targeting each hair type. The 2 lines I want to talk about today s #1. Manuka Honey and Mafura oil. SheaMoisture - Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Shampoo SheaMoisture - Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Conditioner This line is specifically made for intensive hydration and replenish your hair. It claims to solve the objective to be super moisturizing hair especially for type 4 hair which is super hard to keep moisture in. It also helps to fight frizz and reduce breakage. Based on my feeling, it helps to strengthen and smoothes my hair since it contains all these nourishing ingredients like shea butter, Manuka honey and Matura oil. The product itself feels very creamy on the hands #2 Another my favorite line from Shea Moisture is this Manuka Honey & Yogurt which is made for hydrate and repair damaged hair. I’ve seen a lot of YouTube trying it. it is designed for type hair 3 and 2. Basically this line gives a super packed protein treatment to your hair to moisturize and nourish dry hair. It works best for curly hair. It holds the curls and gives it a lot more definition. SheaMoisture - Manuka Honey & Yogurt Hydrate + Repair Conditioner SheaMoisture - Manuka Honey & Yogurt Hydrate + Repair Multi-Action Leave-In For me this serie is a little heavy and I normally do not use it too often. But I really like the consistency and textures. I used it when I hair was terribly damaged and nothing worked to now it is soft and shine. My roommate has curly hair and she LOVES LOVES it. This stuff is thick. It melt fast into the hair, I use their conditioner more of a hair mask. Although its thick, it doesn’t feel drying or sticky. When I rinse it off, omg every time I was surprised by how soft, nourishing and moisturizing my hair is becoming.

CALLING FOR HELP AND ADVICE‼️‼️: Curly help.
HELLO EVERYONE 😊❤️✨, this is my first post and it cost me a lot to write it. As you see in the title; I would like to have my curly hair back and feel good about it. I come from a family with a lot of hair and curly hair (part of my father) and during my youth I was a full curl! I didn't use many products and it was always fully defined. During the last 6 years I and my hair have gone through a lot and I know that also affected me, the last two years I lost a little more than half of my hair due to stress, dyes and depression. I am currently beginning to change both my diet and my emotional health. But I still miss my curly hair!!! my type of hair was 3A. Here are the products I currently use: I try to wash my hair the less possible (1-2 times a week) SheaMoisture - Manuka Honey & Yogurt Hydrate + Repair Shampoo I like this shampoo, my hair looks and feels shiny SheaMoisture - Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Hair Masque I use this mask 1-2 times at week, love the small and helps my hair to stay strong, shiny, not splits. SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus Hair Masque ok ok, probably I’m a little obsessed with this brand 😂😂😂✨ oh! also I take the NATURE'S BOUNTY - Optimal Solutions Hair, Skin and Nails Gummies I started with them 2 years ago and it helps me a lot. if anyone has recommendations or options, I am in everything. thanks for your time in my post, I love this app and the community.

Very Un-Millenial of me
Really quick lesson in marketing to millennials, we do a ton of research on a product before we purchase it. So honestly, that was my big mistake with this product. Had I done my research, I would have learned this hair mask was NOT for me. Shea Moisture actually has a guide for what level of moisture your hair needs. I would be a 1, this is for a 4. I was just desperately looking for a deep moisture treatment...be careful what you wish for. once a week, a little on my roots, not bad. But too much, I am a grease ball. I do like the ingredients, and the smell, so I have been using it to shave with. If you go to their site, and you are a 4, grab this stuff, it's a nice little product

Back to my Natural Hair Journey
In my previous post, I highlighted Black owned skincare and now I want to discuss hair care. I made the difficult decision to go back to relaxed hair in the summer of 2018 bc it felt right to me at the time for my lifestyle. During the pandemic, I’ve been wanting to go back to natural and I’ve finally decided to. So now, I’m in the transitioning phase. I’ve already been using these products for months but they will carry into my natural hair routine for sure. Kreyòl Essence - Haitian Black Castor Oil Goat + Coconut Growth Milk Kreyòl Essence - Haitian Black Castor Oil Chocolate Kreyòl Essence - Haitian Shea Butter Kreyòl Essence - Pomad Kreyol Natural Scalp Treatment Kreyòl Essence is so awesome! They blew up after appearing on Shark Tank last year and with good reason. Their products consist of the natural ingredient Haitian black castor oil and are very conditioning to the hair. Using these gems have made my hair strong and well nourished which is key for black hair!! The oil is pretty heavy so I only use it when I need some extra conditioning, like during a hot oil treatment. melanin haircare - Multi-Use Pure Oil Blend This brand was founded by the super popular natural hair YouTuber Naptural85 aka Whitney White. The oil blend has a wonderful combination of nourishing ingredients but light enough to use everyday. It’s been a life saver applying to my scalp while I’m wearing a protective style. PATTERN - Edge Tool PATTERN - Edge Control PATTERN - PATTERN Hair Clip PATTERN - Satin Scrunchies Pattern Beauty sold me bc I love the founder, Tracee Ellis Ross. Styling wise, I’ve only tried her edge control and brush. I’m not the best at slaying them edges 😂 but it slicks them down after I put a scarf on. I also like the hair clip and jumbo scrunchies. Pattern has a new scalp oil/serum that is targeted for itchy and sensitive scalps and it’s calling my name 🗣 MIELLE - Rosemary Mint Strengthening Hair Masque #MIELLE - Rosemary Mint Strengthening Edge Gel[products]#[FourStars] Mielle Organics rosemary and mint line is very refreshing. It has conditioned my relaxed hair but not sure how well it will condition my 4C natural hair. TBD on that!! Kreyòl Essence, Pattern Beauty, and Melanin Haircare are all sold at Ulta. Mielle can be found at Target and your local drugstore. Cherie Creators, which haircare products are you a fan of?

You Can’t Cut Curls at Home and Other Myths
How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Make The Cut. Cutting curly is much like eating a pufferfish. In the hands of the wrong chef, you’re dead. Every curly haircut my whole life felt like dropping a rat dropping into a bag of Raisinets and reaching in blindfolded. There was always a chance things go horribly wrong. Every inch can be a mile difference. Every layer can behave like it’s in its own social sphere completely isolated from the rest of your hair. In fact, for me, it was more like dropping a Raisinets into a bag of rat droppings. I’ve had a total of two haircuts I liked in my life. I was getting pufferfish poisoned so consistently I just accepted it. The last thing you want to do when you want to eat pufferfish is buy some yourself, pull up a Pinterest recipe and try to extrapolate the directions from the life stories, and go to town. You go to a five star restaurant with a chef who’s been doing this so long he’s begun to believe he’s a pufferfish himself. So when you think about cutting your hair, yourself is probably the last person you imagine holding scissors. I had a Deva Cut last year about this time and I will say that I liked the look and fully intended on going back to the stylist. Then 2020 happened. Hence sixth months into quarantine I’m standing before my bathroom mirror holding a pair of styling scissors. There was a self-sufficiency push coming from my soul. Did I need to be privy to a $50 haircut every few months just to feel good? The first slash away at my hair was like breaking a chain. I realized like with makeup and skincare, looking good was just a veneer on the important task of feeling good. Every cut I was closer to accepting that whatever the outcome, this decision and process was mine. When I finished what I had thought was a decent job, I felt ready to accept the result because even if it sucked like a blowfish, I did it myself. For years I’d believed I needed to trust someone else with my hair and yet I’ve been the one who’s owned it my whole life. I encourage you all to take a moment to ask if your beauty processes are helping you feel ownership of your self-image or are the machinations of others on social media and advice forums. Are you confident that you know yourself well enough to make mistakes? Do you really trust yourself with the scissors? ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ Routine: NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - Blue Sea Kale & Pure Coconut Water Sea Minerals Shampoo and NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - Blue Sea Kale & Pure Coconut Water Sea Minerals Conditioner VO5 - Herbal Escapes Clarifying Shampoo Kiwi Lime Squeeze every fourth wash or so. SheaMoisture - Manuka Honey & Yogurt Hydrate + Repair Protein Power Treatment every clarifying wash. Cantu Curl Activating Creamcantu - Shea Butter for Natural Hair Moisturizing Curl Activator Cream after washing, plop for 10min in a tee, then rake inHerbal Essences - Totally Twisted Curl-Boosting Mousse with Berry Essences . Air dry and alligator clip the roots. Cutting Technique: I used the clockwork method as I read in Vogue, pulling each curl layer by layer to the 12 o clock point at the center and top of my skull. You cut the same height every curl, thus creating layers. The back was a challenge, but it can be done.

Ok. I combined one of my favorite products cantu - Shea Butter for Natural Hair Moisturizing Curl Activator Cream combined with a newer product I've picked up MANE CLUB - Honey, That's How I Roll Curl Defining Cream . What I usually do is get some kind of curl sculpture or activator and combine it with products specifically for definition. I squeeze out the cantu in my hand first and then I squeeze half of the amount of the defining cream. i also THE Mane CHOICE - Tropical Moringa Sweet Oil & Honey Endless Moisture Restorative Spray if my hair starts to dry too much. I have always used a wide tooth comb to comb out my hair. Also, it took me a long time to buy a DENMAN - D14 MINI STYLER 5 ROW and I've been using it for 2 years now. Anyhow, these pictures are the finished product of using those 3 products. Air dried as I don't like to diffuse since I'm way too easy. my hair dries within an hour anyway.

Inexpensive Curly Hair Products & Routine 🙌🏽
Inexpensive Curly Hair Products & Routine 🙌🏽
If I had a dollar for every time someone asked what I put in my hair… 🤪 No, but seriously. I have been playing around my hair routine (products and styling) for about 7 years. This has allowed to try various products, styling techniques, etc. But it has also taught me exactly what ingredients can and can’t work for my hair type. 🥑 I know a lot of the routines on YouTube & IG call for moderately priced to very expensive products that most people don’t have access to 😩🤑 So, I am here to share with you all 3 products I have been using on and off for years and exactly how to layer them in order to achieve flawless curls/coils. Well… almost lol PLUS! Two of the products are under $5 each, so you can get amazing curls for less than $25! 🥳 TRADER JOE'S - Tea Tree Tingle Shampoo with Peppermint - This shampoo is truly divine. Its cleansing without being overly stripping and lathers well onto the scalp. I would suggest washing once if you don’t have a lot of build up, but if you are looking to clarify for your scalp, an additional wash would be necessary. It contains amazing cleansers (No SLFs) that won’t strip your hair of its natural oils and does an amazing job of cleaning the scalp and the minty-ness adds a very spa-like sensation to your wash day. TRADER JOE'S - Tea Tree Tingle Conditioner - One word: MULTIPURPOSE. I love this conditioner because not only is highly moisturizing and has a lot of slip but it can also be used as a leave-in due to consistency. After washing your hair, apply a generous amount to your hair making sure majority of strands are coated, and wait 2-3 minute before detangling and rinsing. After rinsing (with cool water) apply another amount to hair making to coat it but not excessively. You want enough to add moisture back in without the strands being weighed down. SheaMoisture - Sacha Inchi Oil Omega-3-6-9 Rescue & Repair Curl Defining Smoothie - A little goes a long way with this product and I make sure to only add little bit to my hair after getting out the shower. If you have thicker hair, I would suggest using a bit more. I love this because of the smell and how soft my hair feels after using it. I also use this as a styling product when doing other hairstyles, so it has different purposed for me. Honestly, any Shea Moisture curl smoothie/leave-in will work well! 🙌🏽✨ Have you curly babes used any of these? Would love to know your thoughts as well. 💛

Alcohol free shampoo?? Its a thing!!!
Alcohol free shampoo?? Its a thing!!!
After reading the ingredients on my cantu shampoo/conditioner, I discovered they had different types of alcohol in them. Why??? Just like in skincare, alcohol isnt a necessary ingredient in your hair care, i did some research and found PACIfICA - Pineapple Curls Curl Defining Shampoo and PACIfICA - Pineapple Curls Curl Defining Conditioner they SAVED MY HAIR!! The shampoo has ZERO alcohol in it and the conditioner only has ONE!! Which is so much less than my old cantu and other curly hair products. They also smell AMAZING!! Theyre made with all ORGANIC AND NATURAL INGREDIENTS! I truly love this brand!!

Curly Hair Routine
Hey guys! This is my current hair routine 🤗👩🏽‍🦱 ~ i was my hair about 3 times a week ~ All my life i disliked my hair. It was super frizzy, unmanageable, and I was very insecure about it, up until this year. I stopped being lazy, educated myself on my hair type and was able to find beauty in my natural hair. Now i absolutely love doing my hair! it’s a lot of work & takes a lot of effort but i wouldn’t trade it for anything else. 💋 Now for the breakdown of the products: tgin - Rose Water Leave-In Conditioner Right after my wash i apply this leave in conditioner and rake it through my hair, making sure it covers every strand. I absolutely love the smell of this!!! Carol's Daughter - Hair Milk 4-in-1 ''Combing'' Crème Then i apply this super lightweight creme. It is very hydrating & smells soooo good. I’ve also noticed this product definitely makes all the difference in my hair. Support black owned businesses!! 🖤 DevaCurl - Light Defining Gel Soft Hold No-Crunch Styler After i flip my hair upside down and begin scrunching this product throughout my hair. What i love about this product is that it does exactly what it’s names. Super soft gel that does not leave a nasty crunch feel behind. Great for holding that shape. Lastly i diffuse my hair till it is about 80% dry ogx - Nourishing Coconut Oil Weightless Hydrating Oil Mist I finish it off with this spray, it’s great, efficient and inexpensive! & that’s it! 💞💓💗 Let me know if you guys try any of these out. Would you guys like more hair related posts? If you have an other suggestions or questions please leave a comment! 🤍

Need Curl Help?!
Need Curl Help?!
Have you struggled to find the perfect products for your curly hair routine? Well look no further, I have the answer- Miss Jessie’s! Miss Jessie’s has a wide variety of hair products that cater to all natural hair types! Whether you have beach waves to a thicker grade of hair this brand has you covered! The two products in my picture show the end result after using both products in the photo. I have tried dozens of hair products and these buy far, since transitioning to natural hair, have been my favorite go to products to use. Both products give you the hold you need while not leaving hair in a hard “crunchy” state. Your hair will feel light and fluffy! The Leave-in Condish is not thick in texture but i wouldn’t say it’s light weight either. I would say it’s the perfect weight for the desired wash and go look you are trying to achieve. The smell is also very nice. It’s a fresh smell that both men and women can use. The Pillow Soft Curls cream is AMAZING! I’m seriously obsessed with this product! It’s a cream product that pairs perfectly with the condition to provide and amazing wash n go look! This cream based product is not thick at all and definitely helps to define your curl pattern! The product has a GREAT smell! Smells like fresh linen and leaves your hair smelling fresh and clean throughout the whole day! So if you ask me what my go to products are for perfectly defined pillow soft bouncy curls, the answer is MISS JESSIES!!!! I hope my review is helpful for you! Disclaimer- my hair type is 3b/3c ish and these products work perfectly on my hair type, however, there are a wide variety of products that this brand offers. If you have a different hair type I’d recommend trying other products from the brand as well until you find the one that works best for your hair because I will say products results do vary from hair type to hair type. *Remember- Patience is key when finding the best hair products! #Cheriecreator #beautywithoutbarriers Miss Jessie's - Pillow Soft Curls Miss Jessie's - Leave In Condish - Lightweight Leave-in Conditioner

My Curly Girl Method Routine for healthy curls
My Curly Girl Method Routine for healthy curls
Since puberty, I’ve had thick spiral curls and of course, a boatload of frizz. Like skincare, it’s a journey to find the routine and products that will best accent your natural hair. As always, healthy is beautiful! Focus on healthy habits before you worry about picture perfect results! I helped my curls by following the curly girl method, a way of treating curls that avoids sulfates, silicones, and alcohols that strip hair of natural oils. Now, I’ll fully admit that my hair used to be greasier than a New York Slice. I chalked it up to genetics, and blasted my hair every other day with a lathering shampoo. Before CGM, I’d soak my hair in mousse and pray to the curl gods for a good hair day. What is the curly girl method? As stated above, it avoids products that strip oil from your hair and focuses on balancing your protein and moisture levels for healthy curls. Much like over cleansing your face can kickstart oil overproduction, using harsh shampoos on curls can make your scalp overproduce oil and can frizz out your hair. So, what do you do? Like skincare, it takes different products for different people and a lot of experimentation to get your desired results. Knowledge is power, so do your research. The biggest part of the CGM is co-washing: using conditioner to wash your hair. This cleans your hair without harsh sulfates or silicones in shampoos. You can then follow with leave in conditioners and styling products depending on what you want! It’s extremely unique to your hair and your needs, so learn to listen to your hair like you listen to your skin. Research and knows what your products are supposed to be doing so you can evaluate what works and what doesn’t. So is that it? I’ve had to simplify it down a lot, but there’s plenty of information online to help you get started, even an online bot that scans ingredient lists for CGM-banned compounds so you can find products that work for your budget and your curls. Like always, there are expensive options that may sound appealing, but the most basic CGM can be done for under $10. My routine is currently under $30: NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - Blue Sea Kale & Pure Coconut Water Sea Minerals Conditioner NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - Blue Sea Kale & Pure Coconut Water Sea Minerals Shampoo cantu - Shea Butter for Natural Hair Moisturizing Curl Activator Cream I spent over five months perfecting my routine, and it took a lot of research, experimentation, and asking for advice to get it down pat, so be patient! My routine: 🌀Wash with NYM low-poo (sulfate free) 🌀Condition and leave for five minutes and rinse 🌀Add in some NYM conditioner as a leave in 🌀Scrunch excess water with a cotton t-shirt 🌀Rake in Cantu’s curl activator (just a little bit) 🌀Wrap my head in foil (seriously, it helps my hair absorb product and water through heat) 🌀Unwrap my head after 30min 🌀Air dry And that’s it!
