Sunday Riley C.E.O. collection: serum or oil?
Sunday Riley is famous for its revolutionary formulas that offer fast and visible results, and the brand consistently dedicates itself to keeping products safe, green, and adaptive to consumer's needs. Vitamin C is an essential part of skin health, contributing to photoprotection and would healing, so it is an excellent ingredient for brightening skin and diminishing dark spots like new acne marks. The Vitamin C used in this collection is called THD Ascorbate, which is highly stable and oil soluble. However, VC can cause dryness of skin and does not replace sunscreen, so hydration is essential after VC products and sunscreen is a must if you need to go outside. Today I want to share two of their C.E.O products and focus on the differences between them. Let’s talk about the face oil first. It is called C.E.O Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face Oil, which is $40 for 15ml and $80 for 35ml. That is an instantly absorbing face oil infused with advanced VC (THD ascorbate), turmeric, and evening primrose oil. What I love about this oil is that it’s helpful to my uneven texture and new acne, and I prefer using it in the evening because it is oil-based. But there is something I don’t like. For example, sometimes I would apply lotion with hyaluronic acid first after washing face, and when I rub the oil on my face it will not be absorbed. So I recommend using some light toner before this, and it may not suitable for oily skin type. Besides, I don’t really like the smell of it, so I would give it 3.5/5. SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. My Beauty Year in Review
I think everyone can say 2020 has been a challenging year, but with lots of opportunity for growth. In February I had my daughter. 4 weeks later Ontario was locked down, everything but non-essential businesses were closed, including schools & daycares, so I had my 3 year old son home and 4 week old home with me with no support (no grandparent visits, drop-ins etc). And, what started as a 3 week lockdown turned into months. I’m not going to lie it was difficult at first. I was exhausted. It felt like I had no time for myself. I was going from when they woke up at 6:30am till bedtime at 8:30pm (plus night feedings 😴) But we’ve adjusted to this “new normal” and the biggest blessing of this year was the arrival of my daughter and all the extra time with my family. The picture on the top right is what pushed me to start my skincare journey. It was a good day. I started carving out “me” time by going for a run, but when I looked at the picture all I saw was my crows feet and how tired I looked. I had the CLINIQUE - 3-Step Introduction Kit for Drier Skin (Type 2) in my cupboard, but have to admit I was rarely using it. Sometimes using the cleanser in the shower. Grabbing the lotion if my skin felt dry. I wasn’t wearing any makeup. I wasn’t taking care of myself. I decided I wanted to buy some anti-aging skincare because I wasn’t ready for wrinkles. And I decided it was okay to spend money on myself. I turned to Clinique because it was the brand I had always used. I ordered: CLINIQUE - Smart Custom-Repair Serum CLINIQUE - All About Eyes Later this fall when I was running low I started researching more about skincare and stumbled upon Cherie 🍒 This has been a great resource, teaching me what I should incorporate into my routine (i.e., Vit C, AHAs), and reading honest reviews. I now look forward to my AM & PM routine. I’ve started doing a quick 5min make-up routine (see previous post), and found a creative outlet posting here about my journey. The bottom right picture is recent. I am would say I am just as tired as the other pictures (my baby still is getting up every 3hrs at night!), but I’m taking care of my skin and I feel much better about myself. Skincare has become my self care this year! Here are a couple new products I discovered and loved: SUNDAY RILEY - Good Genes All in One Lactic Acid Treatment You really see your face brighten & get smoother before your eyes! SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face Oil Loved the wake me up scent & morning glow The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil I wake up with my skin feeling soft & rejuvenated
Sunday Riley Empties!
I freaking love this brand! Their marketing, packaging, and products continue to impress me as I try new things. SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face Oil probably the least favorite product I’ve tried from Sunday Riley. I mainly just didn’t feel like it sunk into my skin, and left me oily, which is something I definitely don’t want in the mornings when I am applying vitamin C. SUNDAY RILEY - Ceramic Slip Cleanser just meh. Don’t love the consistency or color (like a murky gray color??) it was fine as a cleanser, but I didn’t find anything special about it. SUNDAY RILEY - Ice Ceramide Moisturizing Cream this stuff is good, just a little heavier than I tend to use. I know ceramides are great for retaining skin moisture, but since my skin leans oily, it just was a bit much for me! I like the consistency and clean feel though! SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. Vitamin C Rich Hydration Cream I love this stuff!!! Favorite vitamin c product I’ve tried so far. It works great as a morning moisturizer in the morning, and sinks in to my skin great as a base for my makeup!! Big fan. SUNDAY RILEY - Good Genes All in One Lactic Acid Treatment there’s nothing I can say about this stuff that hasn’t already been said by everyone else. I truly saw a difference in pores, brightness, and just general appearance of my skin quickly after beginning to use this. Super happy with it. SUNDAY RILEY - Luna Sleeping Night Oil amazing. I love this as an intro to retinol, and it has had no negative effects since it’s so gentle! I love the smell, the blue color, and will continue to buy this as long as they will sell it to me!

🧡 FAVORITE Vitamin C Product 🧡
Don’t forget to check out my Instagram for more content! @skincare_by_reba 😍 🧡 𝐋𝐞𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐕𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧 𝐂 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐬! 🧡 𝗪𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭? Meet the boss, SUNDAY RILEY - CEO 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum This serum is “targeted to quickly fight the look of dullness, dark spots, and discolorations at the source, while diminishing the signs of premature aging. Skin looks firmer and plumper, as youthful skin bounce and even-tone are restored.” And again featuring SR’s blue hearts bubble wrap that I just can’t get enough of! 𝐌𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: For once, I can say I tried several other Vitamin C products before ultimately coming back to this one. I promise I don’t have blind loyalty to SR! 😂 I started with Pixi to get used to Vitamin C at a good price point. Then I tried CEO in a kit my mom got me for my birthday (which ended up being the starting point for my SR obsession). Once that bottle was gone, I wanted to try something else just because there are so many Vitamin C products out there! I tried Drunk Elephant’s C-Firma and wasn’t impressed - it was way too tacky for my liking. I also tried Ole Henriksen’s Truth Serum for a while, which I liked but still found myself itching to get back to CEO. One thing I really love is that it is a creamy serum, and is so hydrating for my skin that I often don’t need to follow with moisturizer! Some people really like the clear, orange, sticky Vitamin C serums on the market but for me, CEO is the one. It literally makes me glow, and has helped immensely with some PIH I have. I love it so much that I’ve recently added a Vitamin C night to my PM routine so I never go a day without this baby ☺️ 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞: The price point is identical to A+ at $85/oz or $122/1.7oz. If you are wanting to try this product without the commitment to the price tag, I encourage you try it out in one of SR’s kits first! Bright Young Thing is the kit I got for my birthday last year, and it was a perfect intro to the brand for me! 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘢𝘷𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘝𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯 𝘊 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘶𝘮??
Ingredients to Build your Routine Around
I am 35 years old with two kids. I have dry / normal skin. My top concerns are fine lines & wrinkles, preventing aging, dullness, and dark circles. When I started my skincare routine, all I knew was that I started to notice fine lines & wrinkles and wanted to buy new products for “anti-aging”. After a lot of research, here are my Top 5 Ingredients with proven benefits for 30s Skin: 1. Retinol Retinol is a powerhouse for wrinkles. It is a synthetic derivative of Vitamin A. It alters the behaviour of aged skin cells. It smooths skin texture, enhances radiance and treats aging. Retinol can be irritating to skin, so build up your tolerance gradually starting with a lower percentage and only 1-2 days per week. DRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni Retinol Cream Murad - Ready, Radiant, Retinol SKINCEUTICALS - Retinol 0.3 SUNDAY RILEY - Luna Sleeping Night Oil If you need an alternative to retinol because you have sensitive skin or you are pregnant or breastfeeding, bakuchiol is a good plant-based all natural alternative to retinol or rosehip oil is high in Vitamin A. HERBIVORE - Bakuchiol Anti-Aging Serum BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Phyto-Retinol Serum The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil 2. Vitamin C A potent antioxidant that helps reduce skin inflammation, irregular pigmentation, and promotes healthier collagen production. It neutralizes free radical damage and great for AM routine. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Time to Wake Up Duo SUNDAY RILEY - CEO 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum VERSED - STROKE OF BRILLIANCE Brightening Serum 3. Exfoliate / AHAs Exfoliation is about boosting cell turnover. You should do it twice a week. Use different acids like lactic acid and glycolic acid. Build up a tolerance. You can use toners, serums, or creams. Kate Somerville - Liquid ExfoliKate Triple Acid Resurfacing Treatment SUNDAY RILEY - Good Genes All in One Lactic Acid Treatment The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA FARMACY - Honeymoon Glow Serum 4. Peptides Peptides preserve and boost collagen production. Peptides are short chain amino acids that act as building blocks for proteins such as collagen. It improves the appearance of firmness and wrinkles. Extensive research supports that peptides improve skin function and appearance. The Ordinary - ''Buffet'' OLAY - Wrinkle Correction Serum with Vitamin B3+ Collagen Peptides PAULA'S CHOICE - Peptide Booster 5. Hydration In your 30s your skin tends to get dehydrated. Hydration will plump up skin. Add a hydrating toner, facial spray, hyaluronic acid serum. The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 **BONUS** SPF Never forget you sunscreen ☀️
Vitamin C Very Cherry Bright
The product: a 15% Vitamin C Serum with acerola cherry and hyaluronic acid. It claims to help brighten, firm and hydrate skin. My impressions: worked very well for my skin. It didn’t break me out which a lot of vitamin c serums do. It helps reduce a lot of texture on my forehead and also reduced some redness on my cheeks. It smells like cherries but once it’s on you don’t notice it. I wouldn’t say it’s tacky but as you rub it in you can feel it. It’s also hydrating for sure. How it worked for my dry skin: didn’t dry out my skin at all, it actually helped add another layer of moisture. Length of use: 4+ months Cost: $62 Recommend: yes! Especially if you can test out a mini or sample size! Repurchase: yes I started with a mini and the recently purchased a big one Overall rating: 5 out of 5 because it has taken me a while to find a vitamin c serum that works for me! I love the results I get from it. Doesn’t have a crazy smell and the price is kind of high but that’s why I recommend a mini first! Kismet with SkinCeuticals’ C E Ferulic
C E Ferulic is a serum with 15 percent L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C), 1 percent alpha tocopherol (vitamin E) and 0.5 percent ferulic acid. It is designed for dry, normal and sensitive skin. SkinCeuticals also specified that it was made for “sensitized, dehydrated, discolored and aging” skin conditions. 🙋🏾♀️ My dermatologist gave me samples of two SkinCeuticals products — niacinamide and the SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum to help with my hyperpigmentation. While the brand website says it formulated for dry, normal and sensitive skin — my skin is oily because it is so dehydrated. Now that you know the background let’s circle back to my hyperpigmentation: C E Ferulic, which is an oil, did make my Dalmatian spots fade quicker than normal. (I have been using it for about 3 months.) I would have give it 4⭐️, but I cannot justify the price for the average person. Would I recommend it? Like any product it does take time to work and I am not sure that it is worth the $166 price tag. If my derma wants to give me more samples, I wouldn’t turn her down. Yes, if you have money. But there are cheaper alternatives if you don’t have $166 to burn.
SKINCEUTICALS-C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum
“ SKIN CEUTICALS C E FERULIC “ $210 AUD (ouch😩) ✨ Finally finished up this beauty and thought it deserved a pretty picture and a review ✨🧡 Firstly I was nervous to spend this much money on one product not knowing if it would work for me. I decided to do it after hearing so many amazing reviews and I’m glad I did! 🤩 This has seriously been a game changer for my skin, it has really brightened my overall complexion and evened out my skin tone < something I have struggled with for so long. It also definitely has helped fade some old acne scares that I had from years ago! Amen 🙏🏼 It leaves my skin super super soft which I didn’t expect but I’m not complaining! 🙌🏼 I didn’t use this every single morning because sometimes I like to let my skin breathe and use no actives and my skin would still be brighter and glowey so it’s not just a product that works when you put it on 🙌🏼It’s also super hydrating at the same time and doesn’t dry my skin out at all! I did find after some time the colour changed from a clearer colour to a more orangey/ yellow colour but I didn’t find it changed the effectiveness. It can also have a funky smell that I’ll occasionally notice when I’m wearing it but it’s definitely bearable and so worth it 👌🏽 If you’ve been eyeing off this serum for awhile I say go for it if you can! 🙌🏼 your skin will thank you for it! ☺️ I will definitely repurchase soon! My skin is going to miss it ✨

🌻Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate🌻
Kiehl's - Daily Reviving Concentrate About me 🤗 and the product 🌻 Skin type/skin tone I have combination skin. My t-zone is in the range of normal to oily skin and I have dry skin on my cheeks. My skin tone is warm ivory with a slight reddish discoloration in my cheeks 🧐I also have some freckles across my cheeks and my nose bridge. 🌻Product function The product claims to energize💪🏼 the skin by reducing skin fatigue and makes the skin radiant ✨✨. The product also claims to protect the skin from free radicals by using antioxidants 👊🏻. 🌻Texture/consistency The consistency is liquidy but thicker than water. It had a slightly greasy feeling due to the botanical oils that are infused within. 🌻Packaging The packaging includes a dropper lid and a glass body. When the product came, there was a slight leakage so I don’t know if it’s a faulty cap or the cap is not leak protective. 😤 Beauty story 📖 🌻Overall experience I’ve seen this product a lot and heard lots of good things about it so I wanted to try it out. However, I didn’t want to risk spending $50 and getting something that I don’t like 😬 so I got the sample size to test out how I like it. As stated above, when I got the product, there was a slight leakage which caused the bottle and some of my other products to become slightly greasy 😐. 🌻Verdict💔 I tried the product for the first time and right away...did not like it🙅🏻♀️. They claim that the product works for all skin types. I have combination skin and I don’t think it worked well on my skin. It felt heavy and greasy😰. It also felt like it clogged my pores. The product did not feel like it got absorbed into my skin and it’s probably since I usually don’t use oils on my skin so my skin is not used to it. However, I wanted to give the product a chance and I wanted to see if it did what it claim it would do so I tried the product out for a week. It caused some parts of my skin to break out 😭but in the areas of my skin that are usually dry the concentrate seemed to work! 🤔 🌻Recommend? ✅I would highly recommend this product for people with dry skin since it does work well as a moisturizer and brightening the skin ✨ ❌I would not recommend this product for oily skin and acne prone skin since it is essentially botanical oils and when I used it it felt like it clogged my skin. For anyone with combination skin like me, I would recommend the product to be used in only the dry spots. 🌻Worth it?💰💰 👍🏻Totally worth the time and money if you have dry skin. 👎🏻Not worth it if you have oily skin!!

Pore Minimizing Serum
Pore Minimizing Serum - Farmacy Honeymoon Glow Honeymoon glow is an AHA resurfacing night serum formulated with hydrating honey and gentle flower acids to resurface, hydrate, and clarify dull skin while you sleep, AHAs work to get rid of old skin cells that are hanging on, reduce hyperpigmentation, and reduce the appearance of pores. It also contains hyaluronic acid to hydrate, and a honey blend to make the formula more gentle and soothing. With all these ingredients combined, you get the most nourishing, hydrating, gentle AHA formula I have ever used! It has a very smooth and thin milky consistency making it it so easy to glide over the skin. It also feels so nourishing as you rub it in. I have been using honeymoon glow for a few months now and it is hands down my favourite AHA serum on the market. I started using it when it was gifted to me by Farmacy. Since I have sensitive skin, I have to make sure that products with acids contain other ingredients to make them gentle, which this product totally does! I love the additions of hyaluronic acid and honey to the formula, because I really notice the skin nourishing properties when I wake up with the most plump and supple skin. The only downside I can say about this product is that it may sting a little bit after you have rubbed it in, but this is normal with products containing acids so don’t freak out! Just monitor your skin with use, and it is also always beneficial to do a patch test 24 hrs before using the product. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a resurfacing serum, especially beginners. Since it is such a gentle AHA formula with the hyaluronic acid and honey, I think its a really good one to start out with if your skin isn’t used to AHA. Although this was gifted, at $58 I will definitely be repurchasing this product. My Cherie rating: 5/5FARMACY - Honeymoon Glow Serum
FARMACY-Honeymoon Glow Serum
Sunday Riley - C.E.O Vitamin C Rapid Flash Brightening Serum 5/5 ——— Claims to rapidly brighten and increase radiance - Brighten: Yes / Radiance: Yes! Texture - Creamy Scent - Citrus Residue - Non-sticky Parabens - No ——— Okay DUDES continuing my vitamin C month here is the vitamin C of the year! And it doesn’t smell like bacon! It actually smells citrusy! And has a creamy texture that doesn’t need a dropper like most vitamin c products or has a liquid consistency!!! This doesn’t oxidize easily either as it is formulated different from other vit cs. This works well as a light moisturizer, too. It has anti-aging benefits which I can’t speak on yet but wow I am amazed! This is my first sundayriley product and I love it. It gives me radiance, I love using it, the consistency is soft and creamy, is not sticky and it brightens up my skin and look. It smells nice every time I apply it and doesn’t sting if I happen to apply it on sensitive areas/small open scarring. This contains 15% THD ascorbate, squalane, jojoba esters, glycolic acid and phytosterols that help with redness and skin sensitivity... and more! Love this ingredient list, for good ingredient and its length. It has the formula for perfection. A good mixture to multitask a little on your skin but focusing on brightening. It has brightened my skin and I see an instant luminosity after using it. My skin just feels good after using this product! I have nothing bad to say about this except that it’s a little pricey. I got the mini kit with this and the Luna Oil for $28 which wasn’t bad but if you want this full-size it’s a $85 tag for 30ml. So if you want to give this a shot and hopefully like it as much as I do, the mini kit is worth it if you’re also interested in the Luna Oil. 8ml lasted me two months! I already repurchased the mini kit about a month ago. But once again, work with what you have and what works for your own skin!
