Foundations from Make up for ever—liquid or powder?
Today I want to share two products from Make up for ever, which is a professional brand with a great reputation. And their face products are really popular. I tried both the HD foundation and the Blurring powder foundation. I have dry skin, and I usually use moisturizing cream before I apply foundations, and my main expectation for them is to cover at least 50% of my pimples and acne marks. Besides, I have serious pores problem, and I need my foundations to fill and blur my pores. About the shade selection, I don’t want to look too white so I always go for the color that with neutral or yellow undertones. Let’s start with the Ultra HD Foundation, which is their best-selling, everyday liquid foundation. It has 50 shades, which is awesome, and my shade is Y225-Marble, for light skin with golden undertone. I had high expectations for this because lots of people said it didn’t dry out their skin and was comfortable to wear. It also has Hyaluronic Acid inside for hydrating. The finish is okay for me because it does give me a pretty natural look and can last for at least 6-7 hours. But there are several things I am not happy with. First of all, if I use a regular beauty blender to apply it, I can’t get much coverage even I use a lot. I can either use a dense brush or the velvet sponge from JUNO & Co. to have around 60% coverage. Besides, if I didn’t use a hydrating primer, I would have dry patches on my nose, cheeks and my smiling lines. The last thing is that I expected it to give me a luminous finish, but as you can see, it’s quite matte. So I need to use a setting spray to give myself some glow. To be honest, I use this foundation a lot for my daily makeup because it is really easy to blend and long-lasting, and it just doesn’t give me a surprise. Then let’s talk about the Matte Velvet Skin Powder. It claims to be full coverage, blurring powder with a lifelike matte finish, and you can wear 12 hours without cakes, flakes or fades. There are 30 shades and the names are the same as the HD collection. I use the shade Y235-ivory beige, which is a little darker than my skin but looks good after I finish my makeup. Compared to the HD one, I love this one much better—higher coverage, more blurring, longer-lasting, and almost no caking. At first, I thought it could be too dry for me to use powder products, but this one is really smooth and visibly reducing pores and still lightweight. Besides, it’s convenient to carry with and has a mirror inside. After buying this, I never used the HD one again. In conclusion, I feel like if you have the same skin problems, need coverage, and love matte finish. I highly recommend the Matte Velvet Powder Foundation no matter what skin type you got only if you prime well. And this is my favorite foundation ever!

Fall Makeup 🍁
ANASTASIA Beverly Hills - Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette - By far one of the best neutral palettes on the market. I love the powdery yet velvety quality of the shadows as well as the wide variety of shades. The shades within this palette flatter my hazel eyes, but I’d imagine this would work for all eye colors, and are so great for fall. On days where I don’t want a full eyeshadow look, I use a small Morphe brush to create soft eyeliner with the Cyprus Umber or Noir shades. I use my URBAN DECAY - Eyeshadow Primer Potion to make the look last and throughout the day, I get so many compliments—it’s a must have! Charlotte Tilbury - Lip Cheat Lip Liner - Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk Collection contains some of my favorite products! The matte lipstick, gloss, and eyeshadow quad are some of my favorites and this Lip Cheat absolutely lives up to the hype. So many lip liners can be too patchy, thin, thick, drying, etc., but this is so velvety and lasts all day! SEPHORA COLLECTION - #LIPSTORIES Lipstickand MAKE UP FOR EVER - Matte Velvet Skin Blurring Powder Foundationare two products I picked up during the Sephora Friends and Family sale! I’ll get back with reviews soon!
Okay so shout out to my absolute fav kathleenlights for introducing me to the makeupforever Matte Velvet Skin Blurring Powder foundation... I was watching her favorites video and when she mentioned this I was like “UHM Kathleen?? We have dry skin!? Wyd!?” but thank God I trusted her and went to try this out bc WOW! So it claims to be a full coverage powder that you can sheer out or build for a natural matte finish that lasts for 12 hours! I don’t know what witchcraft is in the formula bc despite having super dry skin, this powder amazes me and honestly lived up to the claims in my opinion! I used it after my morning routine following SPF as well as with a dewy primer that keeps me hydrated and both yielded beautiful coverage that didn’t budge throughout the hot Houston day!! My favorite part about this is how easy and versatile it is, you can use the double sided puff provided or go in with a brush or even a makeup sponge. I mean the compact is beautiful and perfect for travel so seriously, I think it’s worth the $38! I’ll of course keep testing it further and give you all an update but so far.. I’m obsessed. 😍 Also, thank you to miss Ruthie and my amazing ctilbury fam for these two beauties that are long time favorites of mine! The Hot Gossip lip liner is one of my all time favorite lip shades! 🙌🏽
Wish they would bring the lip gloss back though
Aqua Lips by Make Up ForEver is my all time favorite. Sadly they don’t make these anymore; but I pick them up whenever I see someone selling them. I wish they would bring them back. Sorry, but none of their new formulas are the same. The one I am wearing is 16C and the lip liner (which is still sold) Is also being worn. I put this on this morning, was running around all day, are pulling pork and barbecue beef, drank, it was raining (and I had no umbrella), and I took this pic at 11:30 at night. Not bad at all! There was a little transfer to my cup and fork, and also onto my face mask; but overall not as bad as usual. Just don’t expect to make out in this and not see a mess...you and your partner may resemble a lighter version of Harley Quinn and the Joker, depending on the shade. What didn’t hold up as well all day was my face makeup. I’m not sure what the oil thing was I had going on, it wasn’t a very warm day at all, but I had some shine and oil. The only thing different in my routine was the Make Up For Ever HD foundation. I had a deluxe sample and really wanted it to work. While it went on nice and didn’t settle into fine lines or exaggerate pores and seemed like a great everyday foundation for when I want something nice and light; what I definitely don’t want is something that doesn’t have staying power. Nor do I want to have to go heavy on the powder; as then lines and pores tends to become more obvious. I feel like finding the right setting powder is the key to making this work. Eye makeup held up great! Too Faced makes fantastic eye primer and I always have good luck with it and with my Urban Decay palettes and eye liners. I recently discovered that Essence makes some pretty amazing mascaras too. Shocking, since I am so used to spending a fortune. These go for between 3 and 7 dollars, depending where you get them and if they are on sale. Are you kidding me? Unless it’s a mini, I hadn’t spent less than $15 on mascara in years! I should mention that my eyes get pretty watery, so finding eye makeup that holds up in a challenge.
Cover-girl Clean Foundation Review
I have always had a special place in my heart for this foundation if I’m speaking honestly. Back when I was in cosmetology school, and we were given our SICKENING Makeup Forever kits, I was SO excited to start playing even though I had literally -12 makeup knowledge. So after wasting a full bottle of the MAKE UP FOR EVER - Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation I needed to find something more cost effective that still gave the amazing results that foundation did! I remember my mom used to use the Cover-girl Sensitive Line, and the smell of that foundation was my childhood! I loved watching my mom put it on in the morning, because it meant she would feel her most beautiful 😇 I figured since I had oily skin, ALL my base products had to have matte finish, and I’d never get glowy, dewy skin like the girls on Instagram! I’d have to just highlight later and hope for the best. Since school, I have opened my eyes to a wide variety of drugstore foundations, (Be ready for reviews on them later!) and after discovering MAYBELLINE - Fit Me Matte + Poreless Liquid Foundation and wet n wild - Photofocus Liquid Matte Foundation I all but forgot about it! But as of lately, my makeup budget is TIGHT and I really needed new foundation like yesterday! Cue Cover-girl Foundation in Clean. I’ve grown out of matte finishes, I find they are too limiting when you place products on top of them, because even if you have a GORGEOUS shimmery blush, the shimmer seems dull because of the matte base it’s adhering to. I tried this stuff for the first time yesterday and I was pretty impressed, honestly! It blends kind of strangely but I’m also a blending ADDICT so it doesn’t bother me TOO much, but for someone who needs efficiency it might go downhill for you. It does apply well with fingers but a little goes a LONG way so be careful, sponge girls! And can we talk about the smell?? It smells almost like a medicated cleanser??? And it has a slight drying effect on the skin, but it doesn’t really finish matte. It’s medium/buildable coverage doesn’t appear heavy, and it sets BEAUTIFULLY under powder! I’d recommend using a stick concealer with it though, as it is rather liquidy. Overall, this foundation is SUPER good for the price, I’m actually shocked I can find any foundation under even $15 these days! It shall hold me over for now until I get my photo focus back by wet n wild and I can be a satin dream like I’ve always wanted!
A foundation that will last through apocalypse!
📌My skin type: Dry/ Combination 📌Product information: Dior backstage foundation 📌Product texture: light weight liquid 📌My Experience: If I want something that will last an apocalypse I will apply this foundation. It makes my dry skin feel a little bit tight after application and I honestly thought I would not use it again however life had different decisions for me. I used it before going on for tubing in a river and I swam, I was in water for most of the day, after that I had dinner and honestly thought nothing would be on my face but when I looked into the mirror everything had vanished in the sun, the river however this foundation was intact. When I say intact, it means there weren't even a few patches like chin where the foundation had worn off. It was still intact and that was the moment I fell in love with it. 📌Like/ Dislike: LOVE 📌Would I recommend it? YES 📌Rating of the product: 5/5

Pick the Perk! Aqua foundation for combination
My skin Type: Combination,Normal, Fair-Medium, Warm Prpducts: Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation – Color 0 SPF 15; 1.01 Fl Oz / 30 mL; $63 CAD Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation – Color 113 SPF 25; 1.01 Fl Oz / 30 mL; Made in Japan;$65 (Price might vary on different platforms) Compare & Contrast: These two products have very similar texture. Both are very runny, sheer and moisturizing foundation. Both have pump applicators. Personally I found the pump applicator is really useful. Normally I use 2 pumps with sponge or 1 pump with fingers. Bobbi Brown skin foundation – Water-based, oil-free formula. This foundation is Paraben-free; phthalate-free; sulfate-free; sulfite-free; gluten-free; vegan. It has a buildable coverage by just patting on more products on area that you need. It is very light but with enough coverage. With an SPF of 15 which is not serious this coverage can help if you like layeringIt can even out my redness and dark spots. Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation - goes on like a second skin with a healthy glow. is very lightweight and buildable However picking the right color is nightmare because of the terrible color range. I got this from my friend because she got the wrong color and it matches well with my skin tone. It's very light and buildable so if you're looking for more coverage you can do a couple extra pumps. If you have oily skin, you will find this foundation hard work. My Favorite of the two: Bobbi Brown BOBBI BROWN - Skin Foundation SPF 15 I love this Skin foundation from Bobbie brown. It really brightens my face and adds a healthy glow. I like applying it with my fingers for a more skin line finish. I would apply this with a brush or sponge to get more coverage where you need it most, but it'll still look incredibly natural.
Let’s be flawless✨
Choosing the best foundation for makeup is important for a flawless and clean look. MAC’s Studio Fix and ESTEE LAUDER’s Double Wear Stay-in-place Makeup are two very welcomed products, l’ll compare & contrast these two and hope this post help you pick the right one! ESTEE LAUDER’s Double Wear is already known far and wide, and I personally think it worths the praises! I have light warm skin tone and after finishing so many bottles (yes Double Wear is my fav!!) I found shade #1W1 – Bone is the best match. It performs outstanding abilities to the aspects of coverage and long-standing. I mean…these are basically the key criteria that we look at for foundation, right? I have acne marks and pore problems in my T-Zone, Double Wear provides almost flawless full coverage that sometimes I feel like concealer is unnecessary. As one with oily skin I must say that this is the most long-lasting foundation I’ve ever used and it’s not dry. Many will be less familiar with MAC’s Studio Fix compared to Double Wear. The shade I use for this one is NC13. This one is also famous for its coverage; however, the texture is more lightweight and makes the coverage less powerful than Double Wear. While it is this lightweight texture that enables your skin to breath better, as some people might encounter problems like clogged pores and pimples with Double Wear. If your skin does not need such heavy coverage you can consider about MAC! By the way, with MAC you will get a more dewy, hydrated and fresher finish, while Double Wear creates a more matte look.

✨Good Foundation for Acne✨
I have typically oily skin that gets the occasional breakout and dry spot, but has been extra dry due to recent fluctuations in temperature here in TX. This can been seen in the close up pics of my foundation, but wanted to show how the foundation looked after a day of wear, so please be kind 😥 I also know this is a summer color, so it’s def not my shade right now either 😅😝 the purpose of this medium-to-full coverage foundation is to give the skin a matte finish! The fourth through sixth pictures are of my makeup freshly applied, while the seventh through ninth pictures are of my makeup after 8 hours of wear. It was raining today and did have to walk through it, but it wasn’t too bad. My nose was also really runny since my body has been rundown due to the weather and causing my allergies to act up. It did hold up around the sides of my cheeks, where my acne scars are, and it’s bad oily around my forehead and nose (where I typically get oily; I didn’t touch up my makeup at all). I got this whenever it came out in fall 2018 because my skin was very oily and nothing could contain the grease. The applicator of this is also really neat, I love this! It’s so easy to pinpoint the area where you want or need extra coverage. There are also a variety of shades and undertones so it’s easy to find a match! I think this was reformulated into the Tarte Shape Tape foundation and they just got rid of the matte and hydrating versions and just made one. This definitely keeps me matte the whole day. I don’t have any problems with oils peaking through and know I can count on this when I need a foundation that lasts all day. This also can be built up to a very high coverage and conceals my acne scars easily, while also not looking mask-like and still looks nice and natural. It does cling to dry spots, but usually acne-prone skin is oily. I loved this product whenever I had acne and oily skin, it easily covered blemishes (current and recovering ones) and kept me matte throughout the whole day, no matter what I did. I would definitely recommend this to those with acne or oily skin! I think this is worth the price and effort it takes to blend it out (work in small sections though, it does dry fast)! #Tarte - Double Duty Beauty[products]#[FourStars] Price: $39 for 1.01 oz Rating: 4/5
Love the entire tarte collection of their clay line! Recently tried this foundation and so far works great on my skin. Blend-able even coverage that is buildable but doesn’t require much product to gain a full coverage.

THIS OR THAT？two foundations for oily skin
With typical oily skin (especially in summer) and sometimes occasional pimples, my needs for the foundation is strong oil-control power, concealing power, long lasting, and also should be friendly to the sensitive skin. It’s not easy for me to find an ideal product until I met these two types of foundations. both of them are pretty good for my skin but there are still some differences. 1.ESTEE LAUDER double wear stay-in-place makeup. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I bet all girls with oily skin should know this super-star product. You can see it in almost every vlog of those make-up bloggers. Yeah, it is popular for its strong concealing and long lasting power. But also because of it, it will be a little thick and heavy if you put too much on your face. (But just a little, better than a lot of foundations from YSL…) So I strongly recommend to use a beauty blender to make the effect more natural. It does set quickly but the runny texture means it spreads easily and is easy to blend. I don’t feel like I’ve got much make up on, I suppose maybe because it has good coverage. All in all, it almost meet all my needs as a foundation. 2.MAC fix fluid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If I give 5 stars to ESTEE LAUDER double wear, this one wins 4. Mac foundations to me are notorious for transferring, which doesn’t change for this one. Also, it isn’t for all-day wear. But except these, it’s perfect in full coverage. Every time my skin was in bad situation with some pimples, I would definitely choose this one as my daily routine foundation. For me the concealing power of this one is better than double wear, it’s phenomenal. One thing should be noticed is that I don’t think this one is suitable for dry skin. And several of my friends told me this one may cause some breakouts on face (but never happens to me) so maybe the sensitive skin should pay more attention.
