My workout makeup
Hi y’all! So before the pandemic hit and before I decided to be extra cautious to make sure I don’t get the virus and I don’t infect immunocompromised people in my family, I used to go to the gym with a full face of makeup. Yup. That girl was me 😂 How did I workout proof my makeup? 1️⃣ Well, it always starts with moisturized skin for me. The more hydration my skin has, the longer my makeup stays on. 2️⃣ Next, it’s definitely the primer. I’ve used the MAYBELLINE - Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer before, and it’s a great silicone based primer! Nowadays I’m using the MANUKA DOCTOR - Apirefine Flawless Primer since I’m trying to also add more skincare into my makeup routine. 3️⃣ Then, it’s the foundation. I’ve used foundations that are more for “active” lifestyles. This one today is the e.l.f. - Beautifully Bare Foundation Serum I love how quickly it’s absorbed into my skin and it doesn’t move when I set it. 4️⃣ Obviously we need to talk about setting the makeup. For powder, I used to use the basic drugstore foundation powders before. I also used baby powder, like the one from J&J. I just make sure it’s mostly cornstarch and has some vitamin E. For sprays, my go to is URBAN DECAY - All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray which I’ve used on my makeup before to run in 5Ks. The rest of my routine is my normal makeup routine! Hopefully these tips help! What other tricks do you use to workout proof your makeup?

Hi y’all! It’s Sunday therefore it’s skincare day! yesto - Grapefruit Vitamin C Glow-Boosting Unicorn Mud Mask So I’ve heard that this mask has caused skin irritation and I looked at the ingredient list. It’s because Vitamin C is in the tetrahrxyldecyl ascorbate form (aka ATIP). It is used because it is fat/oil soluble, unlike pure vitamin C. ATIP is also known to be gentler than regular vitamin C and is good for sensitive skin. That being said, any time you put higher concentrations of any compound, it can cause different reactions. ATIP is pretty high up on the ingredient list so there’s a higher concentration of it. So what the skin irritation could be is from people overusing any of the Yes to Grapefruit products with ATIP - ie. Using more often in the week, leaving it on longer than recommended, putting on other vitamin C products afterwards. Now that that’s out of the way, I decided to use this after doing my normal double cleanse. I didn’t put a thick layer on and I left it on for about 7ish minutes, to be safe. When this mask dries, it becomes this really pretty pearlescent baby pink color, hence the unicorn name. When I washed this off with lukewarm water, I was STUNNED. My skin was glowing. It brightened up my skin so well, my acne spots were much much lighter. The only skin irritation that I experienced are in my normal spots - 1) the skin between my mouth and nose and 2) the skin under the nostrils on the side of the nose. I followed it up with some soothing sheet masks and lots of hydrating products. I did not use another vitamin C product afterwards. I think this is a pretty good mask, and it just needs to be used with caution. Always do a patch test and don’t use too many acidic products afterwards. Have you used this before? Let me know what you think! 😊👇🏽

Black-Owned Vegan Beauty Brands 👌🏾💕
I ran into this article on VegNews titled “THE VEGNEWS GUIDE TO VEGAN BLACK-OWNED BUSINESSES”. I’m not vegan but I do gravitate more towards vegan and cruelty free products. I honestly just wanted to share this list for anyone who has been looking for B.O.B’s that are vegan/cruelty free and are having trouble finding those types of companies. My favorites from this list are Mented, Beauty Bakerie and Kinky Curly. Reference(s): https://vegnews.com/2020/6/the-vegnews-guide-to-vegan-black-owned-businesses

Is this luxury $225 facial kit worth it?
I was INCREDIBLY lucky to be gifted this Med Spa facial kit AND the Supernatural Anti-aging Facial kit by Tata Harper!! Review on Supernatural coming soon. When it comes to luxury skincare, I don’t buy it. 1) Money is tight, especially with Covid etc. and 2) I have always thought there’s not much difference between a $30 serum and a $150 serum. We always hear you get what you pay for but I don’t think that’s true the majority of the time. HOWEVER, this kit blew me away. My experience ~~ I was so excited to get these to try out. I tried this Med Spa kit first. I love that it has several steps and I felt like I was truly getting a spa experience. Step 1- Double cleanse with the Regenerating Cleanser then the Clarifying Cleanser. Both of these are indescribable. Especially the Regenerative Cleanser. Step2- Apply thick layer of the Clarifying Mask. This is a gorgeous green color and feels really good on my face. After 20 mins, you wet your hands and gently massage as it has AHA super fruits and exfoliating Quartz Crystal sand. Step3- Hydrating Floral Essence. Plumps and allows for maximum absorption of following treatments. Step 4- Resurfacing serum and then Elixir Vitae Eye Serum. BOTH PHENOMENAL Step 5- Repairative Moisturizer and Retinoic Nutrient Face Oil. I can’t tell you guys enough how phenomenal each and every product in this box is my skin after following all the steps looked flawless my texture was even, my wrinkles and fine lines were completely filled, and the face oil was unlike any oil I have ever used. It’s a very dry oil but still moisturizing and it leaves your face feeling like perfect skin. My face still feels wonderful 2 days later. This is definitely pricey. But I think this is well worth the price of 4-5 facials, used as a treat. A special self care day. I give this 10 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️‼️
Easy Guide - Reading Ingredients 🔍
With skincare becoming so popular, it’s very important to know what you’re using. No one wants to use something bad for their skin or something that will have no effect. When you first pick up a product, what do you see? Is it the packaging? Or maybe you’re familiar with the brand? Do you read what it’s marketed for? The first thing I do is CHECK THE INGREDIENTS! 🔍What are you looking for?🔍 Ingredients are in order from HIGHEST concentration to LOWEST: if the ingredient you’re looking for is at the end you’re most likely not gettin any benefits from that ingredient! If you have allergens, look for a “ * “: the INCI (interaction nomenclature of cosmetic ingredients) is a type of system used for labeling ingredients! There are 26 listed allergens. If you look on a label you’ll see an asterisk (*) behind some ingredients that are considered allergens! I don’t speak Latin!: if you see Latin terms, it’s the scientific name of the ingredients listed. This is most common if you have plants or botanical oils in your product. Sulfate, Parabens, Phthalates?: okay this gets tricky and has a lot of divided opinions but mines is clear. I try to avoid these at all costs! -Sulfates: “detergents” mostly found in shampoos. They are harsh and can create irritation -Phthalates: chemicals used to “add moisture and soften skin”. They can damage your kidneys and reproductive system -Parabens: these are preservatives. I am cautious of these because they have been traced to estrogen disruptions and breast cancer Fragrances?: ALL BECAUSE A PRODUCT SAYS FRAGRANCE FREE DOES NOT MEAN IT IS! Federal laws do not require companies to expose that factor. A lot of skincare products have fragrances in them, which is why I’m not too fond of the “fragrance free” train. I will make an ingredient list to avoid based on research. I have found a lot of products I’ve used didn’t have results and after I did my extensive research the list I will provide will show you why 🥰🥰 👇🏾👇🏾Let me know how you guys read ingredients 🥰🥰
Best Leave-In Conditioners for Type 3A Curls
Happy Sunday everyone, As promised, here are the best leave-in conditioners that I have/or continue to use that have worked best on me. Just a reminder that I have type 3A curls and have also thin hair, so it may not work best for everyone. However, I just wanted to share them because they are also pretty underrated and unknown in the industry. aussie - Miracle Curls with Coconut Oil Paraben Free Detangling Milk Treatment The name speaks for itself honestly. This is my FAVORITE leave in conditioner so far. I cannot emphasize the difference in my hair when I used this product and then switched to try other leave-ins. The difference was so overwhelming that I decided to stick with it. You will notice that I use a lot of conditioning that has milk and has detangling properties because part of taking care of our hair is keeping it moistured (NOT WITH PURE OILS) and not allowing it to get too tangled. I will post, in the near future, other tips on how to minimize tangling in curly hair, so stay tuned! I also like that this product has small quantities of Coconut and Jojoba oil. While I NEVER recommend buying and applying pure oil, the fact that these are blended with milk allows for the properties of these oils to work more effectively without clogging your hair shafts. Coconut oil helps PROVIDE more moisture, while Jojoba oil helps SEAL in that moisture. Also, jojoba oil is the oil most similar to out bodies’ natural sebum, so this eases into our hair much more effectively that the other oils. You won’t see these mixtures in common products, so I highly recommend. Carol's Daughter - Hair Milk 4-in-1 ''Combing'' Crème This is another great product that I also use! What I do is use the Miracle Curls right after I wash my hair and style it. I use the Carol’s Daughter product on a daily basis to retouch my hair before going out. It’s really nice to use due to its detangling, styling, defining, and shining properties! And without the need of adding oils, which I like. novex by EMBELLEZE - My Curls Memorizer Leave In A product from Brazil that I really love! I’m definitely thinking of going back to this once the Carol’s Daughter product is completely consumed to see how it works alongside the Miracle Curls. The uniqueness of this product is the use of cranberry which help maintain a healthy and non-irritant scalp with its antioxidant, antibacterial, AND anti-inflammatory properties. And it also has a blend of oils in SMALL quantities that help moisturize and seal that moisture for a healthy hair without clogging the hair shafts. Please let me know how your hair feels if you decide to try these products for yourself! I would love to see if these posts are helping anyone, as that is the goal! Take care!
