Red Face Diaries ft. Herbivore
Lol Let me first preface this by saying I did do a patch test. I made sure HERBIVORE - Prism 20% AHA + 5% BHA Exfoliating Glow Facial sat on my skin just underneath my chin area for 10 minutes. Everything was A ok, so I preceded to put the product on my face... I have fairly sensitive skin so I typically avoid masks altogether because I’ve yet to find one that doesn’t burn the sh** out of my face. Luckily, I didn’t actually buy this, this is just a mini sample I got with my birthday haul order. *Le sigh* My face started burning about five minutes in. I washed it off and was left with a hot tomato 🍅 of a face. To be fair, my skin was super soft the next day, mad sensitive still, but soft! I didn’t do much research into the ingredients in the HERBIVORE - Prism 20% AHA + 5% BHA Exfoliating Glow Facial so that’s on me. I also have very little experience with acids, so I should have been more prepared! Aside from that though, no products should ever make ones face burn or get red. I just don’t believe that that means the product is “working” lol no.

Tower 28 : first impressions ✨
I couldn’t wait to try this lipgloss from my birthday haul and share my thoughts on it with everyone 😙 The funny thing about lipgloss is I don’t love it. As a matter of fact, I very rarely wear any lip product even before COVID, aside from a lip balm for moisture. For some reason, I just don’t like the feeling of something on my lips 😅 it’s weird ik.... But the entire reason for purchasing the TOWER 28 - ShineOn Milky Lip Jelly Gloss was so that I could start getting used to having something on my lips. First things first, can we talk about this colour?! ‘Almond’ is stunning. I absolutely love, love this gorgeous brown/bronze vibe with just a few hints of peach. It’s beautiful and subtle. Another thing I love is Tower 28’s packaging. This tube is so dang cute and I love their logo. I don’t mind the applicator too, it does work well, evenly distributing the product but I’m so bad with applying lip products 😅 I’m still trying to learn how to evenly distribute products to the shape of my lips because I have a prominent Cupid’s bow, but we’re getting there! The formula of this product is lovely as well. It’s just in-between the right amount of thickness without being gross and isn’t tacky or sticky at all! As a matter of fact, it almost feels wet on the lips. In terms of staying power, like any gloss, it wipes off when eating or drinking, but aside from that, it stayed put! So far, I really love this product! There’s not much CONS to be said about it aside from the off-putting smell. It’s not perfumey actually, and to me, resembles the smell of melted plastic if I’m being specific. It’s pretty strong when you open the tube but it dissipates immediately and I found I couldn’t smell it when I was wearing it. Admittedly, you could spend less than $18 for another lipgloss product that I’m sure would be almost the same. But what makes TOWER 28 - ShineOn Milky Lip Jelly Gloss unique is the formula. It’s by far the most lightweight formula I’ve ever experienced in a lipgloss! (Which tbh, isn’t much to go on lmao)

Glass skin or greasy mess?
When I initially discovered what ‘glass skin’ was, I honestly thought it was just a glorified version of dewy skin. And tbh, it’s really not that far off lol If you don’t already know what glass skin refers too, don’t worry, I gotchu. Essentially, glass skin refers to skin that is so lustrous, smooth, and “flawless” that it gives the appearance of glass. It also gives the impression that skin is intensely moisturized giving that “youthful” glow from within. I also read that skin shouldn’t have any bumps or texture, that it needs to be completely smooth in order to achieve this so called glass skin. Clearly, I don’t fit the bill seeing as I have hormonal acne scars, bumps and visible pores, oh my! But I digress... TheMAYBELLINE - Facestudio Glass-Skin Makeup Finishing Spray is quite the interesting product. Normally, when a makeup brand comes out with a product marketed as “dewy” it’s more like, here’s some scented glitter water that’ll make you look and feel like you bathed in a vat full of grease. But to my surprise, this product has no added glitter. I also like that the scent isn’t overpowering, it’s actually nice! The loop featuring my hand is just one spritz of the product dried. Yep, that’s dried lol. It’s so dewy that it does look greasy. You cannot, and I repeat, cannot use more than one to two spritz’s if you just want a realistic dewy look as opposed to feeling like you rubbed olive oil all over your face. Overall verdict: I think I like the idea of this product more than the actual thing lol. It does make my face look nice and dewy when I only use one to two spritz’s as shown in my pictures. But using any more resulted in my face feeling sticky, tacky and downright uncomfortable. My hair was constantly sticking to my face and because my nose was so slippery, my glasses were literally slipping off my face 😫 If you like a really dewy look, or you want some glass skin Instagram shots, you might love this product but realistically, for me, it’s just not practical.

Super sizer or super downer?
When it comes to mascara there are two important things I always look for when it comes to daily wear. First, that it doesn’t get clumpy upon first application and second, it doesn’t get flaky throughout the day. We can all agree that a flaky mascara just ain’t cute, amirite? So did the COVERGIRL - The Super Sizer Mascara pass my 8 hour wear test? 🕵🏻♀️ When I went to apply it for the first time I didn’t notice any clumping until I applied the third layer, which to me, is expected. The formula, like almost all mascaras when they’re super, duper fresh and new, was wet and runny. I usually like to let my mascara get a little dry as it helps with application but I’m an eager beaver, what can I say? As you can see, it definitely gave my lashes a nice lift. The wand is really unique! I don’t love it but I also don’t dislike it. It doesn’t have as much bristles and is longer, which actually works great for angling and getting all the little lashes that may be forgotten with a regular wand. I found when using the MILANI Make It Last setting spray as opposed to a more dewy setting spray, the mascara barely flaked at all. When I did use a more dewy makeup setting spray though, this mascara was a hot mess! I had flakes all over my under eye, yikes. Verdict? This is a nice mascara. Is it better than my all time holy grail Maybelline COLOSSAL Mascara? No, definitely not but I do like the uniqueness of the wand. Because it’s longer with less bristles, I found it easier to get to my little baby lashes near my tear duct, which is normally difficult to do with shorter wands that have more bristles. I like the lift it gives my lashes, it’s not spectacular, as in, you’re probably not going to ask if they’re real or fake, you know what I mean? lol but I prefer the more laidback lash anyways, so I dig it. Also that packaging though, I’m a huge stickler for packaging. I love the tube, idk maybe it’s just me lol The COVERGIRL - The Super Sizer Mascara deserves a 4/5 rating for it’s super cool, light wand and lack of flakiness when worn for several hours when combined with a non-dewy setting spray. It’s also affordable, which is awesome! I’m going to continue to use it and also, wait for the formula to dry out a little bit to determine if this is a repurchase or not 😗

The high dive 🌊
You know those products you buy, end up not liking at first but then slowly start loving? The R+Co - High Dive Moisture Shine Cream is that product for me 😅 Let’s analyze🕵🏻♀️ The loop above is a couple hours after I washed my hair, completely unstyled and productless. The photo was after styling my bangs and using High Dive. You can definitely see a difference in frizz! My hair is more tame and soft, but no difference in terms of shine. An important thing to be mindful of when using this product is less is more! I can’t emphasize enough that you just need a little drop, even if you have a lot of hair or else you risk the day after greasy hair. I also tend to steer clear of applying this directly to my roots but just close enough that I get all the halo frizz. I made the mistake of putting far too much product in my hair and my hair felt so weighed down and gross, ugh don’t be me 😆 Verdict? 💭 I do really like this product! It does what it says it’s supposed to do and a bottle will probably last a while seeing as you don’t need much. If I had to say one thing I don’t love about High Dive it’s definitely the really strong scent. I’m super sensitive to scents, so I find it quite overpowering because it doesn’t dissipate. Another dislike is the cost. This baby retails for roughly around $26 and higher depending where you choose to buy it. At the salon I bought it at, it was $25, which IMO is preposterous. I normally never drop that much on a hair care product unless it has the tears of Christ in it. But no regrets! I won’t be repurchasing when I do finish it though.

A cleanser that can soothe redness
First of all, have you tried this gem? If so, share with me your experience I want to know. After I failed another attempt to fix my skin with some products, I ended up with a very angry acne all around my cheeks and mostly my forehead. I found this cleanser in a target run and I was really looking for a good moisturizer that could heal my skin barrier and saw this line of aveeno oat that calms and restore the skin. I use this cleanser as part of my morning routine. Using a lot of salicylic acid can sometimes dry your skin out, that’s why I needed a good hydrating and nourishing cleanser that could help me to avoid this problem. This cleanse is not simply a hydrating one, it also lifts away impurities and dirt from your skin. Which is helpful when you simply have some skin care product left over from the night before. I do not recommend it to remove make up at all. If you have eczema I think this will help a lot, since it has some hydrating ingredients that does not harsh your skin. I wash my face with some lukewarm water, and then I proceed to massage my face with this cleanser for 60 seconds. This will be enough time for our skin to absorb it and feel the comfort and hydration as well. I am enjoying it a lot. Let me know if you are curious about it, or what do you think of it. 😯

Why I 💙 Sugaring Hair Removal
Hey Babes 👋🏼 Have you ever been sugared instead of waxed?? It’s an organic hair removal removal process that dates to 1900 BC and uses just THREE INGREDIENTS. Water 💧, lemon 🍋 and sugar!! There are many reasons why I like to sugar VS wax. It’s safe for sensitive skin! The paste can be used either cold or warm, so there is no burning!! Sugar wax also only removes dead skin 💀, compared to wax that removes both dead and living skin cells. Both still exfoliate your skin, so you’re left with a hairless and brighter body. 😍 THE TECHNIQUE: With sugaring, you apply the paste against the growth of hair. You go over set area 2-3 times to “mold” the sugar paste around the hair follicle. Afterwards, you “flick” the paste off in the direction of the hair growth. When doing this method, it’s less painful and there is a lesser chance of breaking the hair follicles since you’re pulling with the growth and not against it. Also less chance of ingrowns!! Another benefit is that you can go over the same area twice. Typically with waxing, it’s a one and done shot. With sugaring, you can go over a second time if needed. THE RESULTS: You will notice your skin might have little to no redness from sugaring because you’re not using a hot temperature!! Skin is left smooth and bright and you’re ready to slay the day. 😉 ‼️ Please do not sugar yourself or make this paste at home to prevent injury. ‼️ There is a special technique and should only be done by a trained professional. Natural Deodorant That WORKS! 😍
Natural deodorant and anti-perspirent products usually get a bad rap, but the lackluster formulas are a thing of the past. No more smelling un-fresh mid day, no more staining shirts, and no more underarm irritation! The kai - Deodorant does it all and then some, all while maintaining an ingredients list free from aluminum and other heavy metals (which have links to being endocrine disrupters and breast cancer), along with parabens and sulfates. I’ve gone on runs and to the gym, traveled at length in 90 degree heat with it, and gone to the beach with it on, and it’s not let me down yet! When I do the mid and end of day smell tests, I smell about the same as when I first put it on. No re-application necessary. The clear formula goes on easy and seamlessly and leaves no residue behind. Staining and crumbling white marks or streaks on shirts is an issue you don’t have to worry about with this product! The formula includes a great mix of brightening and soothing botanicals to cut down on shaving and other irritation, along with combating dark underarms (if that’s something that bothers you!) along with deodorizing and controlling perspiration. Natural sugars (AHAs) and the inclusion of witch hazel condition the skin while helping control perspiration and odor as they both work by killing the bacteria that makes underarm sweat smell unpleasant. The AHA within the sugars then gently exfoliate to aid with ingrown hairs. Vitamin E hydrates and further soothes inflammation from shaving and ingrown hairs Chamomile lightens dark marks and further reduces bumps from shaving. It’s antiseptic properties further aid in eliminating oder, and the fact that it’s a low level anti-perspirant means you’ll stay matte and dry all day The inclusion of fragrance isn’t irritating for me— I prefer it in my deodorant. It smells like gardenias, and reminds me of Hawaii. I’ve been using this deodorant on and off for the last five years, and I always find myself coming back to it. At the jump, 24$ for deodorant seems quite pricy, however this lasts me longer than a year with daily applications. Do you have a favorite deodorant? What are some of the things you look for in a must have formula? As always let me know what you think below! ✨
⚡️Dry and flaky scalp problems no more!✨
Are you struggling with a dry scalp? Is it itchy or burning or flaky? Boy do I have a treat for you. So as a licensed cosmetologist I didn’t really learn as much as I wanted to about the ingredients in hair products. The instructors just told us that drugstore products were bad and did a lot of bad things to the hair. But when I started asking “why?” They had no answers. I wanted to know WHY are drugstore products bad? WHAT ingredients make these products bad and what happens when using them WHO makes these products and gets them into stores if they are so bad?! This took a lot of time and research on my own, but I am so glad I did it so I can help you understand a little bit more! I have been dabbling with making my own hair care products! I’ve made some waterless shampoos and conditioners (ended up very sandy but still worth a shot) and natural shampoo and conditioners. I’ve worked with a cosmetic chemist to help me make sure I wasn’t going to blow anything up or cause an accidental chemical reaction so it’d be safe! With what I’ve learned, pure extracts are what give you your benefits in your hair products! It’s not just hair products either I might add. There’s extracts in your body wash, your face wash your lotions and your toothpastes sometimes! The extracts I’ve found to help out with your itchy scalp are: Colloidal oatmeal-okay so this ones not necessarily an extract, but this really helps sooooothe the scalp. If you have eczema colloidal oatmeal is where it’s at! Amla Berry Extract- this extract is so rich of Vitamin C and antioxidants! This helps to prevent dandruff and itchiness due to its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties! Aloe Vera Juice Extract- aloe contains little enzymes that actually REPAIR your dead skin cells! Aloe is also very hydrating and moisturizing you give your hair a shiny finish (with no dandruff I might add) Bamboo Extract- this extract improves overall hair health! Helps with fullness and elasticity and it’s packed with antioxidants to really take care of the your hair(: Caffeine Extract- this is the creme de la creme of extracts for itchy scalp. Caffeine actually sloughs off dead skin cells by exfoliating the scalp! Cool right?! Exfoliation of the scalp means you’re really increasing blood flow and circulation. Increasing blood flow and circulation means its stimulating the scalp enough to promote hair growth! This literally helps with dry itchy scalp and promotes hair growth! It’s an amazing extract that I think everyone should try out because i mean..who doesn’t want their hair to grow?! If you choose to add extracts to your haircare regimen, I’d definitely try to add it to a deep conditioner you already have. If you choose to add it to your colloidal oatmeal, add some xanthan gum to thicken it up almost like a conditioner! Photo from bellatory.com
Skincare routine suggestions from TIKTOK??
Of course I found myself on the skincare side of Tik Tok and I’ve found a very helpful video that helps remind me what order to use my products. But I have a question: Is Niacinamide not suppose to be used with Vitamin C or does it not matter?
The best lip scrub!
Fresh Sugar Lip Polish Exfoliator ($24/0.6oz) What It Is: A hydrating lip scrub and prep step that gently buffs and smooths for the sweetest, softest lips. Skincare Concerns: Dullness and Uneven Texture and Dryness. Texture: grainy balm. My Experience: I have been using this gem for about 3 years and it has holy grail status in my book! I know there are tons of more affordable lip scrubs out there but they do not compare to this one. The particles are either too small or too big, or not hydrating enough. This beauty contains brown sugar crystals which are natural humectants that prevent moisture loss, buff away dry flakes; grape seed oil which is an emollient and has strong antioxidant properties; and shea butter and jojoba oil to nourish the skin. This has the most perfectly sized sugar particles, and amazing nourishing ingredients that leaves my lips INCREDIBLE soft and fully prep for the most matte liquid lipsticks and the most staining red. It is expensive at $20 per 0.5oz but it does last me a really long time and I usually get it at the Sephora Sale. In my opinion, this is the best lip scrub there is and I always keep coming back to it. Cherie Rating: 5/5 fresh - Sugar Lip Polish Exfoliator
