1 week update!
This is my one week update on my simplified routine. I can see a big improvement on the little bumps/textures on my cheeks. In the middle of the week I had a huge breakout cluster on my cheek but resolved its self pretty quickly. Once my cheeks calmed down my forehead decided to take its turn..... I’m really hoping this is a purging stage... I will continue with this routine with no add ins for now. Any tips???

Hello! I’m in need of urgent assistance. I’ve done absolutely everything I can think of and I don’t have the money to continue spending on expensive products that don’t work! I used to have very bad cystic acne and am now on medication for that. Right now, I’m dealing with fungal acne on the forehead, and some persistent pimples along my cheeks and by my nose and chin. I have oily/combo skin, primarily in the T-zone and I’m a college student, so my under eye bags are awful. I have pictures of my morning routine and my nighttime routine. Please help and give suggestions on what products I should discard/keep or which products I should try!! Thanks so much!
New addition to my night routine
So far I have only used this product for a little less than a week, but I am already seeing results. Of course, only time will tell if this product will make a lasting effect on my skin. The first few nights I experienced some purging, but after that, the product seems to calm any inflammation overnight. I did decide to eliminate The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%. I wasn’t loving the way it felt on my skin and couldn’t tell if it was truly doing much. I thought since my face wash CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skinand night moisturizer CeraVe - Skin Renewing Night Cream both have niacinamide that the ordinary was a bit unnecessary. We’ll see how my current PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Boosterand PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA (Salicylic Acid) Liquid Exfoliatorcombination works. 🙏🏼🤞🏼

First Impression Review: CeraVe SA Cleanser 🧼
Okay I finally got my hands on this cleanser! I always talk about how my hormonal acne is awful and flares up time from time so now I’m working on prevention. I got this from target for $11.99. It’s also at Walmart & online at Ulta ($13.99). I have combo skin and this is marketed for “Normal Skin”. Highlights: SA=Salicylic Acid: BHA CREW ! This is a HG ingredient for treating acne! Its made from willow bark (bark from willow trees used in medicine since forever) and has many healing properties. This ingredient is “oil-soluble”, which means it’ll penetrate your skin lipid barrier (sorry I love science). This penetrates your skin and absorbs oil & dirt, as wells as, exfoliates. Fragrence free: for my sensitive skin lovelies Vitamin D: great for age prevention, antimicrobial, antibiotic, & anti—inflammatory (all great for acne) Non-Comedogenic: doesn’t clog pores. I used this for the first time tonight and my skin was like whew! I have combo skin currently, oily in my t-zone and dry around my cheeks and mouth and this really got my dry spots DRY! I have a few spots on my cheek and forehead that I’m looking to get rid of so I’ll see how it goes. I did replace moisture in my skin 🌙 Routine: Cleanse CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin Tone PAULA'S CHOICE - Enriched Calming Toner Serum The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Eye Cream SKINCEUTICALS - A.G.E. Eye Complex for Dark Circles(will be reviewing this soon!) Moisturize CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion Cliganic - 100% Rosehip Oil ** I might use dr. brandt - Hydro Biotic Recovery Sleeping Mask is my skin feels dry before I actually go to bed** I’m only going to do this routine 2-3xs a week!
Hi everyone! This is my first time posting on here so I’m not too sure if anyone will actually read this but if anyone does, I would really appreciate the advice! I recently purchased the Cerave PM moisturizer because the ingredients seemed amazing and I was super excited. I love the texture and really enjoy applying this but for some reason it has been causing me a lot of redness (specifically around my cheeks and nose). I also feel minor stinging and tenderness to the touch. I’m not too sure why this could be as most of the ingredients are already familiar to my skin (I’ve been using hyaluronic acid and niacinamide in the morning for months). In case there is another red flag in my routine that could be causing this, I can share current PM skincare routine! • LUSH - Ultrabland I use this as a cleansing balm on nights when I double cleanse (I know it’s not the best but I want to finish my tub before buying a new one). •DERMA•E - Anti-Wrinkle Cleanser I don’t mind this but I think I’d like to try out a more gentle cleanser once I run out of this! •The Ordinary - ''Buffet'' I really enjoy this serum but I’m not too sure if I’ve seen many results after using it for about 2 months. •The Ordinary - Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG Amazing for under eyes! • CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion Still figuring out if my skin can handle this but I was previously using The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA and I really enjoy this moisturizer, but I think I would prefer a gel consistency similar to the Cerave one. •The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil I don’t fully know what this does for my skin but I absolutely love using it. It has never clogged my pores or caused me to be more oily in the morning like other oils have. Not to mention how amazing it feels on your skin! Thank you so much for reading and taking the time to try to help!

The 2nd slide is my current routine and described as below :) Since starting retinol I haven’t used anything else (the first pic is all of my products) and I don’t know if/when I can add any of these into my routine. Any advise would be helpful. Also I am open to recommendations to a gel moisturizer for oily/sensitive skin, I’ve been using TRADER JOE'S - Ultra Hydrating Gel Moisturizer with Aloe & Green Tea Extractsand CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotionbut I’m not in love with them and would be open to any suggestions. AM: CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin Let my skin dry and apply clindamycin phosphate topical solution usp 1% then wait 20 mins and apply TRADER JOE'S - Ultra Hydrating Gel Moisturizer with Aloe & Green Tea ExtractsandCeraVe - Hydrating Sunscreen Face Lotion SPF 50 PM: CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin Then apply tretinoin cream 0.025%
Trader Joe’s Has Skincare?!
Did you know Trader Joe’s sold skincare products? Neither did I until TikTok told me. These 3 products have slowly but surely have been incorporated into my night time routine! 🌝 TRADER JOE'S - Ultra Hydrating Gel Moisturizer with Aloe & Green Tea Extracts This is one of the best moisturizers I’ve come across! I love the way it feels! It’s so lightweight and isn’t sticky at all. And it pairs so nicely with the oil! TRADER JOE'S - Vitamin Oil E I swear, pairing these two products have been magical. Sometimes I’ll only put on these 2 things when I don’t feel like adding a serum ~ As for serums? A couple nights a week, I’ll mix The Ordinary’s Lactic Acid and Niacinamide, then apply this moisturizer and oil on top. And I always wake up with super smooth skin! TRADER JOE'S - Rose Oil Ultra Moisturizing Hand Cream As for the hand cream, it doesn’t exactly smell like roses. It’s kind of thick and fragrancey but the smell doesn’t linger that long. I’ve really enjoyed it so far and you can’t beat $5!🌹
Start of Tretinoin and Spirinolactone journey
Today is my first day going on Spirinolactone (pills for hormonal acne that I will be taking 1x a day) and Tretinoin. I purchased both treatments from Apostrophe, so I have been prescribed them from a dermatologist. My Apostrophe cream formula is 0.025% Tretinoin and 4% Niacinimide. Backstory: I have been a skincare fanatic for about 4 years (my friends can vouch for this), always taking measures to maintain a healthy skin routine. I have had clear skin for my entire life until recently. I recently started breaking out in January and no product was working. So at this point, I have rightfully assumed I have hormonal acne at 19. I’m completely simplifying my routine to only include a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, the tret cream, and a sunscreen. My routine will be as follows: AM Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 (looking for a stronger SPF at this point, so will switch sunscreens when this bottle runs out) PM Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin Apostrophe formula (using this after moisturizer so I can have a buffer between the tret and my skin) I have normal skin and will be adding more products gradually with extreme caution as time goes on, and my skin adjusts. I’m not sure the extent to which tret will dry my skin out either, so I will be looking out for that as time goes on. Since my skin isn’t sensitive, my plan is is to start using the Apostrophe formula 3x week for 2 weeks, and then every other day for another 2 weeks, and then start using it every day. Open to critique and suggestions about this since my derm says to start out using it every other day for 2-4 weeks, and then to switch to every day use. Anyhoo, I want this to be a sort of journal on how my skincare journey is going. I want to do weekly updates about my experiences with tret and spirinolactone, as well as show how my routine adjusts through this period. Sending many hugs to whoever reads this <3
CeraVe-Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin
I used to have the WORST acne on my forehead, along with a bunch of tiny bumps. I’ve been using curology for 2 years now, but I starts seeing insane results after 2 months :) CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin Curology - Curology formula
How often should I use this product?
Alright, so I have been educated on how often I should be using these two products separately. I know for a fact that I should only be using these products three times a week at the most. But I am curious as to if I can use both of them on the same day or if I should just stick with one cleanser or the other. I haven’t had great experiences with salicylic acid in the past, but I don’t know if that’s just because my barrier was compromised by using it daily or because it’s just not effective in getting rid of the kind of acne I have. When I had used salicylic acid in the past, I used it every single day and I was recently educated on the fact that that is not healthy for my skin! So I’m wondering if I should use both the salicylic acid cleanser and the benzyl peroxide cleanser on the same day (SA in the morning and BP at night) or if I should just pick one and go from there. I’m realizing more and more as I look through this app that I really don’t know what’s best for my skin when it comes to cleansers and I know there are many educated people on this app that have been very helpful to other girls on here so i am so incredibly appreciative of anyone who takes the time to help me! Thank you so much! Products: CeraVe - SA Smoothing CleanserCeraVe - Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser
