Saying Goodbye 👋🏼
This past year I’ve been very aware of my purchases and also very cautious about what I’m bringing into my makeup/beauty collection. Every once and a while I will do a little bit of a declutter and make sure I’m only keeping the things that I’m using on a weekly, or at least monthly basis. This most recent declutter I noticed these two products and realized I haven’t reached for them in months. OFRA - OFRA Highlighter
Battle of the Budget 10-in-1s!
I’m all about low maintenance hair and saving money, so of course I have to review these 2 drugstore hair primers. I’ll be breaking down the winner by category and tallying the winner! Round 1: price- both are a standard 6 oz, but NYM is $7 while Eva is $12. Both are affordable but NYM wins this one. Round 2: texture- Eva is definitely the heavier of the 2 options, you can tell by the fineness of the mist. This is likely due to it’s high amount of oils in the ingredient lists, which is very good for moisture. Personally tho, since my hair is straight and fine, this tends to weight down my hair. Contrastingly, the NYM first ingredient is water which is probably why it’s lighter and cheaper. This round is a tie. Round 3: scent- Both of these are scented with fragrance showing up in the middle of the ingredients list. The Eva product is a stronger, fruity scent that is close to Viva la Juicy perfume, a personal classic of middle school. The NYM is also sweet, but closer to candy than fruit. It’s also lighter than Eva. This round is subjective for sure, but I give it to Eva since I prefer a strong scent if something is scented. Round 4: usage- by this I mean does it really do 10 things? Eva doesn’t list the 10 things on the bottle, but NYM claims to add body, detangle, add shine, protect, moisturize, control frizz, repair dry hair, heat protection, mend split ends, and create silkiness. I think a few of those are repeats, however the one it doesn’t follow through on is repairing dry hair. When I used NYM, I had to add an additional leave-in conditioner to keep my ends from looking dry. Eva doesn’t add body for me since it can make my hair look oily. Again, a tie! Round 5: flexibility- I find that I’m able to use NYM in more situations than Eva. With Eva, I only use as a heat protector since other usage tends to make my hair look wet or oily. I can use NYM as a detangler before I air dry, to calm down bed head, and to heat protect. This round goes to NYM! Results: I prefer NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - All Eyes On Me 10-in-1 Hair Perfector though honestly these products are pretty similar. I think the eva·nyc - Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer would work well for someone with thicker or curly hair because mine couldn’t stand up to the oils. Neither are perfect holy grails, but good for the price.
best & blah hair products @ Sephora 🌟
BEST & BLAH 👉🏻 Sephora Edition 😌🙌🏼 We all know the holy grail products we can find at Sephora. For me, I flock to the shelves for Ouai, a haircare line quite popular in the IG community 💡Before trying out their line, I was always skeptical of the value in their products. Come on, is this really worth it? I was an avid fan of it's a 10 haircare - Leave-In Conditioner Spray Product , my holy grail for my wavy, thick hair (which, is extremely damaged!) I could always count on that single product after washing my hair to smooth my hair and aid in softening my ends. Eventually, I had to try out Ouai haircare. After bleaching my hair to its absolute end, I knew I needed to find quality products when it came to styling my hair. My hair had always been picky with the products it uses, especially when it came to styling products. Sticky, thick and too drying formulas turn me off. So, when needing to find my “best and blah,” I knew I had to put Ouai in the hot seat. 1. OUAI - OUAI Wave Spray This one left my hair tacky, even with a minimal amount of product sprayed on. My waves weren’t much defined as they would be without this product. This one is $12 (small bottle) at Sephora. Worth it? No, not in my opinion. A better alternative is NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - Beach Babe Soft Waves Spray . 2. OUAI - OUAI Volume Spray Hmmm.. perhaps my hair is thick enough to have volume already. Nevertheless, I was not a huge fan of this volume spray. I used it before blowing my hair out and all it did for me was add more product onto my hair, no volume. Worth it? No 😭 I tried my best to like this product but I can’t bring myself to pay $26. 3. OUAI - Dry Shampoo Foam A NEW DRY SHAMPOO FAVORITE! I love this formula (mousse-like) and the smell. It leaves a refreshing and cooling feeling on my scalp. Worth it? YES. I’ll definitely be buying this again, worth the $28! 4. gisou - Honey Infused Hair Oil This is a great hair oil, don’t get me wrong. I enjoyed the packaging, the consistency and the result of my hair after smoothing this into it; HOWEVER, $46 doesn’t sit right with me for a hair oil so is it worth it? Not for me. 5. eva·nyc - Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer I enjoyed the smell and lightweight spray of the nozzle, offering a lighter application of the product. But, too much and your hair gets STICKY. Beware of the amount you use. If used right, it’s worth your time. Worth it? $12 for a great heat protectant is worth it to me! 6. gisou - Propolis Infused Polishing Primer Ehhhh, I couldn’t find the value in this for me. I heard a lot of people talk about their hair feeling smoother after styling once using this; however, I personally couldn’t notice a difference. I loved the creamy texture but I can’t purchase it again. Worth it? $34 isn’t worth it for me 😭

My Most Underrated Clean Beauty Product!!
MAYA CHIA - The Highlight of the Day Last year was the year I finally dove into the clean beauty trend- I was so skeptical and that was based off my prior experiences with clean beauty products that just didn’t perform the way my traditional products did. In the past I had tried a few things here and there and was mostly disappointed. Whether it was the wear time not being long enough or finding myself breaking out after using products, I had almost given up. Fast forward to the end of 2019 and I found Credo, which is the largest clean beauty retailer on the planet! They have an amazing range of makeup and skincare products, as well as clean fragrances and their standards are extremely high for what they don’t allow in the products they sell. I highly recommend checking Credo out if you’re interested in trying some cleaner products! So I did some research- watched lottss of clean beauty videos on YouTube and decided to give clean beauty one more try and placed a pretty large order 🤭 Now that I’ve been using these products for a year, I can give my honest opinion and let you know how these products work best!! One of the products that I ordered from Credo was the MAYA CHIA - The Highlight of the Day I had heard about this product and was intrigued- it’s a liquid highlighter and is supposed it give you a subtle healthy glow. Hands down this is one of the BEST highlighters I’ve ever used!! It applies so seamlessly and doesn’t require much work to get it completely blended out. I typically use my fingers and gently pat the products in but you can also use a damp sponge( You will need to shake the product before you use it to combine the pigment with the serum) I’ve used this on top of so many different concealers and foundations and it’s never once pilled, looked patchy, or pulled up the products underneath! The only con of this product is that it’s $42. Which is definitely pricey, but I’ve had this for a year and I probably have 1/3 of the bottle remaining- a little goes a long way! (The beautiful bottle is also a plus- it looks great styled on my vanity) There’s so many ways I like to use this, it truly is so versatile. On no makeup days when I want my skin to have a slight glow, I drop a tiny bit into my moisturizer and it gives my skin a nice radiance that doesn’t appear glittery or artificial at all! 10/10 will repurchase this product over and over! Have you tried Credo? What are your favorite clean beauty products??

I tried giving myself a subtle ‘fox brow’ 🦊
How did I do? 😛 I spent all morning plucking and shaping my brows to get that super popular ‘Fox brow’ but more subtle, I don’t think I’m ready to shave off the tip of my brow just yet but who knows, maybe a few more days of lockdown will finally make me do something extreme lol. It turns out my brows are pretty bushy naturally so I had to pluck quite a bit but I have to say I really like how this looks! I have very hooded eyes and I feel this brow shape kind of opens up some lid space which is honestly all I want. I used the Lime Crime - Bushy Brow Precision Pen to fill in some sparse spots and the ohii - Magic Hair Wand to shape them and hold them in place. Have you tried any viral beauty trends yourself lately? Would you shave your brows for this? 👀

Makeup & Hair
Hi everyone! I thought I l’d share a post with you all about the products I typically use. I started my makeup journey about a year ago, and I’ve grown so much in figuring out what works for me and what doesn’t. Today I use a good combination of more expensive brands, as well as affordable. In the loop shown above I’m wearing Glossier. - Futuredew Oil Serum Hybrid , Glossier. - Cloud Paint Seamless Cheek Color , benefit - Watt’s Up! Cream-to-Powder Highlighter , bareMinerals - bareMinerals Correcting Concealer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 , benefit - Gimme Brow+ Volumizing Eyebrow Gel , e.l.f. - Lock on Liner and Brow Cream , ULTA BEAUTY - Gel Eyeliner Pencil , MAC - Prep + Prime Fix+ Scented Mist , and L'ORÉAL - Double Extension Beauty Tubes Mascara . I use these to achieve a more natural look because I have very clear skin for the most part. At first I really liked Glossier’s Future Dew, but now I feel it’s a bit too greasy especially during the summertime. I’m on the hunt for an affordable skin tint and I am willing to take suggestions! I am also looking for a new concealer, there’s nothing wrong with the one I have, just ready to try something new! P.S. you might not be able to tell but I’ve got pretty vivid auburn hair. I started using a color depositing conditioner about 1.5 years ago called KERACOLOR - Color + Clenditioner in copper color. I. Am. In. Love. Listen, there’s another brand called One N’ Only Argan Oil in Copper and it’s even better (couldn’t find it when looking through products on Cherie). People ask me alllll the time if this is my natural hair color! It’s so much more affordable than dying and the product lasts several months, highly HIGHLY recommend if you’re trying to achieve a new hair color, but don’t want to break the bank. Hope this helps everyone! Please drop suggestions below, I’m all ears! 😊

Flax Gorgeous Blowout
Key points: 🔸Once you apply the flaxseed let you hair completely dry the longest you keep the flaxseed on the better. 🔸You will probably see some flaxseed flakes after it dries, that is why I like to use a comb and remove all the excess. 🔸Then blow out using the lowest heat temperature. You Can Make Your Face Look Slimmer Without Any Cosmetic Surgery!
My face is round face, but the angle of mandible is a little obvious, which makes me very distressed sometimes. Because there is a lot of flesh on the face, it would appear fatter, and the obvious angle of mandible sometimes appears to be older. This requires me to do some extra work when I make up. MAC - Extra Dimension Skinfinish Highlighter #Double Gleam $33 This is the secret weapon I just discovered. With MAC Double-Gleam Extra Dimension Skinfinish, I don't need any cosmetic surgery to make my facial contour more beautiful. This product is light gold with a nice metallic sheen and yellow undertones. This product of MAC is also very worth buying. It adds the perfect glow to skin. The liquid-powder highlighter, with prismatic reflections, is designed to sculpt and highlight your face, leaving a luminous, well-defined finish. What's more, the creamy powder formula lasts up to 10 hours, which could last for a long time without any makeup. This product is really kind for everyone. Double-Gleam was richly pigmented but could easily be sheered out or used with a less dense brush for a more moderate glow. The consistency was soft and smooth, so it was easy to apply and work with on the face to highlight on cheekbones, down the bridge of the nose, and so forth. My steps are generally three. The first step is to gently sweep up the highlight next to the hairline of the forehead, which is near the end of the eyebrows, and this can make the face fuller. The second step is the very important part, nose, highlight the upper part of your nose according to your own shape. Finally, the lower part of the face. A little bit on the chin, this will make your face look a lot slimmer. It is also very friendly to novices who are just learning makeup, because this product will not be pressed to the face all at once, so even if you make a mistake, there will be room for modification.

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
