Sad Day for my Lips
Kiehl's - Butterstick Lip Treatment SPF 30 I’ve never really splurged on my lips like this. The SPF stick was about $24 last time I saw it listed, so it was no ordinary chap stick. The problem with my lips are that they dry up real easy, especially given my biting habits (please tell me I’m not the only one who does it so often 😂). And thus, my lips are discolored, slightly cracked, and lack plumpness. Coconut and lemon butters sounded enticing, like they would be enriching enough for the delicate skin on my lips. Plus, I’ve realized SPF is always a must when it comes to lip balms and sticks. Perhaps my mistake was in getting the tinted variant, which may have included an ingredient which adversely dried my lips. If you’re curious to try this product, I’d give the untinted one a shot first, especially if hydration is your priority.

Empty #2! Another one bites the dust
L'ORÉAL - Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara I’m actually surprised I ran through this one so quick, given that I didn’t use it too often. I think what ended up happening was that the product dried out. I had issues with this mascara the moment I opened it. I really wanted to love it because of the hype; several of my favorite influensters were praising it too. But when I twisted open the cap, I was met with gloppy disappointment. This had to be one of the heaviest mascaras I’ve used, which is no help given my already heavy lashes. I was hoping that the brush would fan out my lashes, but I had to scrape off most of the product to get the brush to work its magic. Even then, my lashes were quick to sink. Overall, it’s unfortunate.

Empty Waterline Liner 😭
And that crying emoji’s not just because I have over-reactive tear glands. I’m genuinely sad that this RIMMEL - Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer is wearing thin. So a couple months back, I thought, I wanna make my buggy eyes a bit more doll-like, and YouTube makeup guru after guru has touted lining the lower waterline with light kohl. I went with Rimmel because I still shopped drugstore brands quite often then. And to my delight, this little guy does the trick! It’s creamy and smooth, not clunking up in my eyelashes. My only qualm would be that it doesn’t last long, and sometimes seeps and blends into my dark eye makeup. Apart from that, this eye definer gets the job done when I’m going for a natural look, or even when I want to look like a 60s London pop star!

K-beauty Pomegranate Mask
maeily - Pomegranate Essence Sheet Mask I’ve always been fascinated by the mythology surrounding pomegranates. Historians even suggest that it was the forbidden fruit! This makes me wonder, did Eve just eat it, or did she also discover that it works wonders on the complexion? Whatever the case, I’m just thankful that Korean Skincare Brand Maeily (slogan: “for all skin types”) did eventually recognize that this superfruit is also a skin booster. The packaging itself states that the pomegranate essence takes care if tired skin leaving it fresh and glossy. I’ve used a few other Korean sheet masks that used pomegranate as its main ingredient, and I gotta say, the fruit really perks the skin up. Within minutes, my skin is left with a warm, rosy glow. My pores and newer dark spots are smoothened for an overall supple, dewy texture. This k-product doesn’t necessarily cure any damage, but it’s what to reach for if you want to give your skin a little extra love before heading out.

Favorite tea in my favorite sheet mask!
DEARPACKER - Real Nature Mask Green Tea Love love love green tea. Not the taste, but the way it makes me feel, spiking up my metabolism so that I feel much more energized, awake, and ready for the day. Green tea itself has a million and one superpowers for your body, and especially for your skin. It’s often used to brighten and reverse aging, and in this particular sheet mask, the ingredient’s nutrients and amino acids are meant to moisturize, sooth, and hydrate skin “worn out from fatigue.” As a single mother, my skin and I definitely know the meaning of the word “fatigue.” At the end of each day, my skin is left dull, flaky, and unevenly pigmented. Overall, it lacks its youthful morning luster. To fix that, all I do is slap this thing on 20 min before I go to sleep. The mixture itself is cold and loosely sticky like most masks; no distinct smell. After using this, my skin is instantly brightened, including the area under my eyes. My pores are less noticeable, and overall, I look much more awake. Most often, I left the remaining essence soak into my skin overnight. Therefore, in the morning I’ll wake up looking even more bright and revitalized! Green tea in any sheet mask is a win for me; a definite recommend, especially considering it cost $2.

I’d rather get coal than...
#Olay - Ultra Moisture Shea Butter Body Wash[products]#[OneStar] I’ve actually been using this drugstore body wash for quite a while, mostly because my skincare knowledge had been limited to my facial complexion, rather than the whole of my dermis. And so I settle, using this body wash simply for the sake of cleansing my skin. Ironically, after years of use, this “ultra moisture” body wash has stripped my skin and turned it into a desert. The bottle reads that it uses “Lock In Moisture” technology to moisturize the skin so that it feels as if you’ve got a smooth coat on. It sure doesn’t keep that promise. My keratosis pilarsis on my arms and shoulders, as well as the strawberry skin on my legs has worsened. The lather itself isn’t too bad; feels much like a heavy lotion. Unfortunately, the effects are dire, leaving me thinking that this “lock-in moisture” was perhaps just a marketing trick. Totally wouldn’t recommend it.
