Awesome Face Oil for Combination Skin!

What’s the first thing we think of when it comes to hydration? Water, Squalene, Essence...and a whole bunch of other things. But what about oil? I recently ran out of my DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum
and I figured it was time to get my third bottle. The ingredients in the bottle help with removing dead skin cells, dryness, and help cell turn over. Little did I ask myself WHY my skin had dry patches and why the dry skin kept coming back. Like everyone else, I thought dry is dry, I’ll always have this and it’s normal. Then, I got breakouts from makeup and had to deal with additional problems. Little did I understand, I was only solving the symptoms and not the root of the problem. BUT THEN I DISCOVERED OILS! After using SUNDAY RILEY - Juno Antioxidant + Superfood Face Oil
not only was I able to go without a moisturizer for two days(which is a lot for me), I was able to see my skin really improve over a weeks time! I didn’t have any dry patches and oddly enough, my redness on my cheeks weren’t as prominent! I don’t usually mind the redness because it gives me a natural “blush”. However, having less red cheeks means less time to spend on doing makeup, so it’s an added plus! I was wondering why this stuff worked so well. This blend has a mixture of oleic acid and linoleic acids, perfect for hydrating the parts of my skin that were dry and my acne-prone areas. Dry skin needs Oleic Acids and Oily skin needs Linoleic Acid. I opted for something that has both, because Acne/Combination skin needs a little bit of each oil. For the past two weeks, I have only used this oil or another face oil with TATCHA - The Dewy Skin Cream
and have seen AWESOME improvement in my acne scarring and NO DRY PATCHES! I can even go without moisturizer for two days! If this oil is a bit spendy, I would also reccommend trying pura d'or - 100% Rosehip Seed Oil
! More on this oil in a later post!

Starting tretinoin and spironolactone
After 6 months of researching products and learning more about my skin and what works, I have finally found out the root cause of my acne. I feel like I’ve always had a good, consistent skincare routine. I’ve even made good lifestyle choices such as changing my pillow case every week, cutting out diary, limiting junk food, and drinking lots of water. However, I did not see any improvements with my skin. I mainly break out on my cheeks, chin, and jawline, especially when I’m on or about to start my period. I recently consulted a doctor for free thanks to my university’s student health services. She told me that this is hormonal for sure. I had been producing an excess of androgen hormones which lead to more oil production and eventually more acne. She prescribed me with spironolactone and tretinoin. I started taking these medications a few days ago. I think I’m in the purge period right now. I’m so glad I finally have closure on what has been causing my acne. I’ve never had serious acne problems in the past so this has been really frustrating. Current skincare routine: Morning: CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin CeraVe - Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 for Face with Zinc Oxide Night: íUNIK - Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin pura d'or - 100% Rosehip Seed Oil I also use the THE inkey LIST - Salicylic Acid Acne + Pore Cleanser every other night. If I need to subside a pimple, I would use Rael - Acne Healing Patch or the COSRX - Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch I’ve been taking spironolactone every morning and applying my .025% tretinoin every other night. I’m giving my skin time to adjust to the tretinoin so I will start applying it nightly next week. For those who have taken spironolactone or tretinoin: how long did it take for you to see less breakouts? And can I still use my salicylic acid cleanser while on tretinoin?

HELP I’ve tried everything!
I’ve been trying to take extra care of my skin for the past 4 months but nothing seems to be working. Morning routine: CeraVe - Salicylic Acid Facial Cleanser The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin CeraVe - Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 for Face with Zinc Oxide Night routine: THE FACE SHOP - Rice Water Bright, Light Cleansing Oil CeraVe - Salicylic Acid Facial Cleanser The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% CeraVe - SA Lotion For Rough & Bumpy Skin pura d'or - 100% Rosehip Seed Oil Every few nights, I alternate between Paula’s Choice 2% BHA exfoliant and the CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol in place of The Ordinary Niacinamide. In addition to this routine, I wash my pillow case every week, eat relatively healthy, and don’t wear any makeup. I also use The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solutiononce a week for 10 minutes. I have acne-prone combination skin. My struggles are acne scars and bumps/texture on my cheeks. I’d especially like to know how to get rid of the bumps and what’s causing them. I also recently abstained from my actives for 2 weeks in hopes of my skin clearing up but that obviously didn’t work. I’ve been using my CeraVe products for almost 2 years. My skin only started breaking out more once I incorporated more products little by little. I don’t think this is considered purging because this has been going on for 3 months. I also don’t think this is maskne because I rarely leave my house. PLS HELP! I feel like I’ve done all I can. I can’t even see a dermatologist because I don’t have insurance. #help #helpmyskin

Drunk Elephant- The Littles 🐘
I won this cute little kit in a raffle & I couldn’t be more thankful! I have always wanted to try these products but never wanted to spend the money on all of them incase I didn’t like them! Inside this kit are the following products: DRUNK ELEPHANT - Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser Deluxe Sample DRUNK ELEPHANT - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil DRUNK ELEPHANT - Umbra Tinte Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30 That’s literally a whole skincare routine! So far I started out my day with one of Drunk Elephants infamous “Face Smoothies” I washed my face with Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser & then combined C-Firma Day Serum, Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil, & Protini Polypeptide Cream together on my mixing trey with a disposable skincare spatula! I applied it all over my face & neck. Once that absorbed, I applied Umbra Tinte Daily Defense SPF 30 over my face & neck & was done! I love how the kit comes with steps to walk you through different routines you can use in the morning or at night! I will do a follow up review after I have used all the products for a few weeks! But so far, my skin feels & looks great! I have been breaking out lately & haven’t felt the best about my skin so I really needed this pick me up!! Thank you for reading! You guys are the best!! ❤️ @cherie@Cheriebeauty@CheriePick

🌲 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐮𝐦* @sulwhasoo.us blended with white sandalwood, Korean pine & green Forrest this serum smells beautiful. Their JAUM balancing complex (that is made through an 18 hour process). I’ve been using this after cleansing at night to help my skin with hydration, glow & enhance the absorption of the rest of my routine. It’s also perfect for dry, delicate & sensitive skin. This is definitely a beautifully luxurious addition to my routine and I can’t wait to continue to use UPDATE* I absolutely love the smell of this serum. It is so energizing. Definitely One of my favorite luxe Korean skincare brands. It helps significantly with any kind of redness or irritation. No sticky residue just hydrated & plump skin.

First Care Activating Serum
Sulwhasoo-First Care Activating Serum
INGREDIENT HIGHLIGHT: HYALURONIC ACID
INGREDIENT HIGHLIGHT: HYALURONIC ACID
What is it? Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that occurs naturally in the skin. It binds water to collagen, trapping it in the skin, thereby keeping skin plump, healthy and hydrated. Why is it important? There are several factors that can make skin dehydrated. HA acts as a humectant to attract water to the skin thus increasing hydration. HA is great for all skin types as it retains moisture, improves appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, replenishes cell moisture, speeds wound healing. Medik8 - HYDR8 B5 Liquid Rehydration Serum This is my favourite hydrating serum. I also like their Hydra8 B5 Intense serum. It contains a blend of Hyaluronic acid and Vitamin B5. It improves skin texture, boosts moisture retention, and keep the skin healthy. It also helps rebalance moisture levels in oily skin. It has anti-inflammatory and anti-itching properties. It has a lightweight watery texture. It is vegan and cruelty-free, suitable for all skin types including the sensitive skin. It has a oil-free formulation. It has a glass packaging. I use 5-6 drops of it after cleansing my face, both in my morning and evening routine. It absorbs easily into the skin. It plumps up my skin along with deeply hydrating. This serum provides much needed moisture boost to my normal to dry skin. The price is $49 for 30 ml . I recommend this to everyone especially who has dehydrated skin. This serum will provide deep hydration along with other skin benefits. #CherieCreator

•Soothing Serum• <2020 Empties>
Serums have a higher percentage in active ingredients therefore, (they) are great moisturizers to hydrate the deep layer of the skin. dear, klairs - Rich Moist Soothing Serum is light soothing serum that helps replenish moisture loss in the skin. This is great for sensitive skin because it is free of fragrance. This contains Phyto-oligo and Centella Asiatica (CICA). Phyto-oligo which provides moisture to skin. Centella Asiatica helps soothe irritated skin. It absorbs quickly to the skin leaving the skin feeling silky smooth. I love using this in the winter because my skin becomes dry and the serums helps my skin stay hydrated. I would usually mix a few drops of the vitamin C (dear Klairs see previous post for more info) in this serum. In the summer my skin gets flushed easily and this helps cool down any redness, all thanks to CICA. I have been using this for 3 years now and this will be my 3rd bottle and I will keep purchasing this serum because how well it nourishes my skin. 2.7 oz/ 80ml - $22

I just wanted to take some tim
I just wanted to take some time to express my love for drunkelephant. Not only has the brand changed my view on skincare, but it has dramatically improved my skin. Because of my bad habits of picking at my pimples, I’ve always suffered from acne scars. My skin is also fairly dry but I absolutely hate thick moisturizers. I have tried so many brands and products but I’ve never enjoyed any as much as I enjoy drunkelephant. Ever since I started using cfirma 3-4 months ago, I have noticed a huge difference in my skin complexion. My scars are lighter and my skin tone looks more even out. I literally cannot imagine a day without it. My only complain is how quickly it oxidizes 😭 my other absolute favourite is the protini moisturizer. It is by far the best moisturizer I have ever used and I think it’s perfect for all skin types. It is extremely lightweight but so hydrating and makes my skin feel so supple! It doesn’t dry me out nor does it leave me looking like a grease ball. It balances out my skin so perfectly! The bhydra is also amazeballs. I‘m prone to getting dry patches but this little guy always provides me the extra moisture I need. I am absolutely drunkinlove and it’s dangerous (for my credit card) 😂 *I used these minis for 2 whole months which is absolutely ridiculous! So if you’re interested in trying out the brand, I highly suggest getting the minis because they last forever!!!

Products That Make Me Glow! ☀️
Products That Make Me Glow! ☀️
I have sensitive combination skin so finding products that make me glow can be tough but I have found gentle products that work for me! Glowing isn’t just about exfoliation either. Vitamin C is brightening for skin so that helps with glow too! Here are some of my favorites: 1. Honeymoon Glow by Farmacy ✨ Key Ingredients- AHA, flower acids and honey ✨ Honeymoon Glow is an nighttime resurfacing serum that for me gets rid of breakouts and leaves me glowing the next morning. It tingles a bit when first applied but that quickly stops. I couldn’t go without this one and if I didn’t already have a back-up, I’d be repurchasing with the current Sephora sale! ✨ I like to use acids like this with a stronger nightly moisturizer like Healing Ointment by CeraVe! I use this maybe twice a week at most. 2. Rose + Glow Oil by Leah Skin ✨ Key Ingredients- Vitamin C and Squalane ✨ This oil is a game changer💕 Vitamin C brightens skin gorgeously but always use with SPF! I use it morning and night and notice significant changes in dark spots overnight. Over weeks I’ve seen major transformations in my skin. I have super sensitive skin and get hormonal breakouts so I’m talking from a MESS to smooth and plump. It has squalane and a stable form of Vitamin C that plays nicely with other Vitamin C and even retinol. ✨ Because it is more stable than others, it also lasts significantly longer- this bottle being good for a year after opening compared to some of my others which expire as quickly as 3 months. It is clean, in glass packaging and adorable. I will definitely be repurchasing this once I finish it! 3. Enzyme Powder Polish by Sand & Sky ✨Key ingredients- Australian Glow Berries, Papaya Fruit Enzymes, Quandong and Davidson Plum, Aloe Vera and Jojoba oils for brightening, smoothing, soothing and nourishing skin. It also has their Kaolin clay in it too! ✨This is now my preferred type of wash-off exfoliant. It starts as a powder then you add a little bit of water and rub it into a foam. After massaging on skin for 15 seconds, you simply wash off and go on with the rest of your routine. It makes my skin feel SO SOFT and helps remove any dryness or peeling. It’s super gentle on the skin but really effective and pairs beautifully with retinol as well. ✨This starts as a white powder but when you add water, you get that classic pink Sand & Sky color. Pro-tip, it took me about two tries to get the ratios correct- if you add too little water, you’ll get a paste and if you add too much, it’ll absorb into your hands. You want a light pink foam. Let's talk drunk 🐘
Let's talk drunk 🐘
I recently purchased DRUNK ELEPHANT - Been a Long Day Duo mini duo set from Sephora.com 🐘💕 DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream is essentially a moisturizer that is infused with 6 rare African oils and a ceramide complex for intense moisture and replenish barrier support. 🐘The consistency is quite thick but it doesn't feel heavy. It goes nicely on the skin. I love that this brand does not use fragrance (among other harmful ingredients) in their products. With that being said, this cream does kind of have an odd (kind of playdoh) scent to it which I'm sure comes from all of the ingredients and natural African oils. 🐘BUT that definitely would make up for the fact that it worked so well on my skin. After applying, it has honestly never felt that soft. Love that it has ceramides which again are helpful for redness and help soothe the skin. Is it worth it?? I think that the regular sized 1.69 fl oz for 60$ is quite expensive. DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum is an AHA/BHA (alpha hydroxy acid and beta hydroxy acid) serum that will work together to lift away dead skin cells. 🐘AHA cause cells of epidermis [top layer of skin] to become "unglued" allowing dead cells to come off 🐘BHA's will go into the hair follicles to dry out excess oils and dead skin cells to remove impurities and unclog pores 🐘The AHA blends are glycolic, tartaric, lactic, and citric acids. 🐘The BHA blend is SA (salicylic acid) This is quite the potent AHA and BHA blend. It's stings more so than The Ordinary's AHA/BHA serum (I don't know why honestly). Because I have redness on my cheeks I used this Drunk Elephant serum on my T-zone only (so far) and it really works, thus giving me soft and clean skin. The regular sized 1 fl oz is 90$ and is so so so not worth it and in my opinion a huge huge rip off. 🥴🐘 Both of these products work beautifully together ultimately leaving the skin with the softest feel yet. This mini duo is definitely worth it though as it is only 28$. Both of these products individually get 3 ⭐️'s because they're just too expensive for what they are. Overall, I do feel like you can get the same effect with The Ordinary's aha/bha serum and CeraVe'a moisturizer will always be my #1.
