BB Cream or Foundation? What’s the Difference?
I created this “highlight” to showcase main points about bb cream and foundation for you guys to see if you’re trying to decide or are in the market for either or as a beginner! The second photo is a swatch of the Missha Signature Real Complete BB Cream in shade 23 (I really like this one ❤️). Now here are a couple extra pointers: “Asian” or “Eastern” formulation of BB cream and Foundation can be very different from “American” or “Western” formulations. Essentially it does come down to preference. However, there are a couple important things you see more of when comparing them. 1. “Asian” or “Eastern” BB Creams BB Creams at one point we’re going super strong and nowadays, it seems like they don’t get as much recognition as they did before in the Western market. BB creams from these regions focus a lot on creating a radiant/second skin finish with many skincare ingredients in the formula. Companies really focus on that “glow from within” concept. There isn’t much pigment in the formulation that would cause an INSTANT full coverage(although these types of formulations do exist out there). Instead, many bb creams(at least the OG ones I’ve tried) oxidize slightly to better fit your skintone. If you have difficulty finding that second skin finish/match for your skintone in your foundations, try exploring BB Creams. For those who have deep skin tones, it may be difficult to find a shade for you since the market focuses on mostly pale, light, and medium light tones. History of BB creams: The reason why a lot of BB Creams focus on skincare and a light/medium to buildable full coverage is because it was initially developed in Germany. The person who initially created BB Creams wanted something to protect the skin/provide coverage after laser treatments. 2. “Western” Foundation: For those of you who consider yourself to live in a “Western-like” area, you may have encountered foundation somewhere. Western formulations focus a lot on pigment/coverage & not much on skincare(based on my experience of exploring Western BB creams/foundations) The good part is that we are starting to really notice more diversity in shades that BB creams in Asia don’t necessarily cover, so it’s great for a multitude of complexions. Foundation focuses on evening out skin tones to create a smooth base to possibly layer on other products. Right now, it seems like there is a shift happening. Many companies are now starting to release/perfect formulations that provide a more your-skin-but-better coverage. BB creams can be a “put-on-and-go” type of product that could heal your skin depending on the issue you have. There can be a lot more prep work involved to get foundation looking like skin, whereas I could leave the house with BB cream on and if it did “melt” off my skin from improper prepping, it wasn’t noticeable at all. Again, there’s a lot more to it but this is a generic representation and I hope it provided some clarity for you guys on your search for “the one”! 😆😃

Oct. 2, 2020
Hello everyone! My name is Laura and I’m a beauty manager at Nordstrom! I had no background in cosmetics before I moved down into my role (Nov 2019) so I don’t have nearly as amount of information as my coworkers do on products but as I dip my toes in trying new products- I wanted to share my honest opinion of them all. I have SUPER sensitive skin... to the point where it can be really frustrating in finding products that suit my skin. I’m lucky that I don’t break out from using new products, but it typically burns the top layer of my skin and makes me extremely uncomfortable and leaves me in a lot of pain. If you are curious about new products, new launches and hopefully extra info- follow along! If you also struggle with sensitive dry skin, holla at your girl because I’m always looking for new products! ❤️❤️
My go-to products for vacation-Orange makeup
I know during this time we all have to stay at home and no traveling, but I think we can also give ourselves some great makeup looks and take us back to the wonderful time we had. So today I want to share my go-to makeup that I always do when I go for a vacation. Because I hate winter and cold weathers, so I usually go to the warm places like island nations and beaches. The orange makeup will look beautiful under the sunshine and also a good choice for photoshoots. The first thing I want to mention is the foundation that I can’t live without, the All Hours Longwear Natural Matte Foundation from YSL in shade B20, $54 for 0.84oz/25ml. Even though I have dry skin, this long-wear foundation will not set in my smiling lines or pores, and it is definitely a full-coverage foundation that will cover up to 80%-90% of my pores, acne marks and dark circles. Besides, a little bit of this goes a long way, and a small pump is enough for me, so don’t waste! About the shades, I feel like this collection can be a little lighter than the other foundations of YSL, and B20 is a little bit lighter than my skin tone, so I recommend trying it in the store before purchasing. YVES SAINT LAURENT - All Hours Longwear Natural Matte Foundation The next step is bronzer and blush, and they are both from Colourpop. I always put them in a pan so I can carry them during traveling. I use the Private Party bronzer and the So Retrograde blush. The bronzer will make my skin look warmer without being too orange or deep. And this shimmery blush is a burnt orange with gold pearl inside, so I can save the highlighter. The only thing I have to mention is that the blush is very pigment, so I only dip once and tap my brush before putting it on my face. COLOURPOP - Colourpop Pressed Powder Blush For eye palette, I mentioned before that I always take the Whatever palette from Colourpop with me when I go for vacations, and I use the colors I marked in the picture to create a very easy but glam eye look. Finally, to match the topic, I will use a matte lipstick named Marrakesh from Mac Cosmetics, which is an orange-brown shade and has been very popular since it launched. And I feel like it will not dry my lips even it is a matte formula, which is nice because I will stay outside for a long time and don’t want to see my lips peeling. MAC - MAC Matte Lipstick Here are the products I use to create a quick and easy look for vacation, and I feel happy to do it again during this quarantine time, and I hope you enjoy it!
TLM Foundation - Color Changing Foundation I saw this on Instagram about a year ago, with all good reviews. Then I watched the Jeffree Star review and he hated it. I bought this for $20, and I was actually amazed at how well it works. It goes on white, and then it blends into your skin tone. I have fair skin tone. It’s medium coverage, but it lasts all day and looks great. It leaves my skin dewy and smooth. I really liked this foundation, and I’d definitely recommend trying it. Based on the reviews, I guess it depends from person to person on how well it works. But it worked for me.

How to get flawless base makeup in summer!!
What you’ll need: a foundation brush, a primer that is light and easy to blend, a high-coverage foundation and an oil control setting powder My pursuit for the base makeup: as I have an oily-combo skin type, I would like my base makeup to be long lasting and not easily ruined by the oil and sweat that I will inevitable have on my face during the day. Besides, I would especially suffer from acne in the hot humid summer, so it would also be better if my acnes could get perfectly covered. What I’ve used and my thoughts: ·smashbox - Studio Skin Full Coverage 24 Hour Waterproof Foundation I love how this product provides full coverage and it could last a whole day, sometimes when I wear this foundation, as long as I moisturize well and set the foundation well, it still stays on place and give me an intact look after 9-10 hours. But the only problem with this foundation is that it tends to get dry quickly and it could be hard to blend. ·clé de peau BEAUTÉ - Correcting Cream Veil SPF 21 My go-to foundation when I pursue a natural and clean look. But these days it is not long-lasting enough and it could only provide light-to-medium coverage. So on important occasions, this alone is not enough. ·KVD VEGAN BEAUTY - Lock-It Finishing Powder This is my holy grail setting powder, only that the cushion that comes with it is not good enough. So I’ve changed it with something else I bought from CVS. You could also just use your brush or sponge to apply this powder on your face. It just blurs out every single shine resulting from oil on one touch. And I always carry it with me in summer to save my from being too shiny… Steps to follow: 1. Moisturize well before you apply any foundation products. This is always a must for any base makeup to look good and last long. 2. Blend the primer and the foundation in the ratio of 1:1 on hand. 3. Use the brush to dip the mixture and apply them on your face. You could also opt for a beauty blender if you are in want of a more natural look 4. Use the setting powder to set your foundation carefully and thoroughly. And voila, here is a base makeup that provides high coverage and lasts long.

COVERGIRL - Clean Fresh Skin Milk Foundation $10 🥥Why did I buy this product? This foundation kept popping up all over social media and I liked the fact that it was formulated with coconut milk and aloe extract. Also this product is formulated with out parabens, talc, etc that tend to clog your pores. 🥥What do I like about the product? This product has a dewy finish without looking greasy. Like it advertises, it looks like your actual skin with still giving a medium coverage. My freckles are visible but I can cover up scars with its buildable formula. 🥥What don’t I like about the product? The shade range could be more expansive. 🥥Who is this product for? This product is suitable for those with combo-dry skin as it does have a dewy finish. That being said if you have more oily skin, this product along with a good setting powder will work fine. I am in the shade fair/light which was a good match for me. ***Even though I wanted to, I did not edit my skin in the photo to show the true appearance of the foundation. I definitely recommend this foundations and am impressed at the quality for only $10💗

Fit Me Foundation _ Every Day Collection
This product has been a staple in my collection for the past few months. Perfect price for value. The dewy + smooth hydration variation is perfect for my combination skin and doesn’t dry my face out, but gives me full/medium coverage. What foundations have you come to love? ✨👇 MAYBELLINE - Fit Me Dewy + Smooth Foundation

8 hours of wear
First impression: very thick but very blendable! This is a FULL COVERAGE foundation, but when applied with a beauty blender, you can blend it out enough to be skin like. Great for all day wear, I’m a little shiny but nothing that can’t be fixed! No cracking or settling! I may not use this every single day, just because it’s so full coverage... but perfect for days I just need a little more :)
