CeraVe product intolerance/sensitivity??
Hi everyone! I have sensitive, acne prone skin and recently I’ve been trying to find the best moisturizer for those concerns. I read a lot on this app about CeraVe products and they sounded like they’d be perfect for my skin (and in my price range). But so far I’ve tried two products and my skin has reacted badly to both of them. First I tried the CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotionand it burned my skin and caused more redness and irritation. Then I tried CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skinand was super excited to find it didn’t burn my skin or cause redness. However after a few days of using this product, I started to get some fungal acne for the first time ever in my life, which is really confusing because I thought this moisturizer was supposed to be acne safe? Has anyone else had a bad reaction to CeraVe moisturizers? Please let me know and leave sensitive skin moisturizer recommendations in the comments! 👇

KayRodriguezHonestly, I have the same reaction whenever my skin is dehydrated / sensitive. Recently, after introducing a gentle cleanser (hydrating) and repairing my moisture barrier, they no longer burn my skin and haven’t caused me any acne! 🙌🏻 But it did take awhile for me to figure out what worked. What cleanser do you use before this? / what is your routine? It may not be that these guys are the culprit of the sensitivity and acne, it could be something else in your routine

TalsThanks, that’s super helpful to know! The rest of my routine I’ve been using for a couple years with no acne - these are the only things I tried adding so I feel like they’re probably the culprit. How did you successfully repair your moisture barrier?

Skincare solutions for stressed-out skin
There is a tonne of reasons that your skin becomes ‘stressed’ - dehydration, exposure to UV, harmful pollutants, free radicals... When your cortisol levels are too high, it does more than throw your metabolism out of whack and induce insatiable sugar cravings. It also wreaks havoc with your skin. Stripping it back to basics, the simplest things you can do to keep your skin happy are sleep, exercise and relax, what else can you do? Sometimes, products can begin to irritate your skin during a time of extreme stress, so bringing your routine back to basics and eliminating any products with excess fragrance, colors or dyes, letting your complexion breathe without foundation for at least 6 to 8 hours a day. It’s a good time to give your skin a little break. I actually don’t have a major skin concern, and I just feeling like my skin is not as good as it could be at this time. Sometimes it gets sensitive and dull. I don’t want to use anything too harsh that would irritate or dry out my skin further at this time. I typically pairing my routine way back and adding simple, hard-working solutions. (Eliminate any products that may cause irritation.) I'd add an emollient moisturizer into my lineup. CeraVe is always my first choice, it’s not going to be too heavy or rich, it just bring back the barrier protection of my skin. CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin I also use retinol products as I menstioned before, retinol increases the rate of cell turnover in the skin, making it great for a variety of concerns. If you got Dull skin like me, here I highly recommend SkinCeuticals’ C E Ferulic 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum FAST FACTS: ● BEST FOR: Dry, normal, and sensitive skin ● USES: Improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, brightens complexion, reduces free radical damage ● POTENTIAL ALLERGENS: Ascorbic acid, propylene glycol, triethanolamine ● ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: 15% L-ascorbic acid, 1% alpha-tocopherol, 0.5% ferulic acid ● PRICE: $166 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ This is quite simply an amazing serum. I don't understand the fuss about the smell (heavy artificial fragrances are much worse in my opinion). The liquid definitely had a slight scent, but it wasn’t unpleasant, and it dissipates quickly. I patted the product into my skin. At first it left a tackiness behind, but after a minute or two it was completely absorbed. C E Ferulic is gentle and I had no issues applying it every morning. It gives me an underlying glow that gets better and better with time. So many Dermatologists trust *and* recommend this, for the simple reason that it works. It does what it claims. There is a ton of scientific research and data behind this product that you could find online. I can’t stress enough how much I love this product. By using period, my skin was visibly smoother, plumper, and brighter. This is a game changer for me.. Now if only it was a tad cheaper! 😬
🌟My Skincare Journey: Adult Acne ❕❕💫
Pimples don’t stop at puberty. And I learned the hard way 😭. I was lucky to not have had a lot of breakouts in my teens. But it hit me when I turned 20 (2 years ago!). All the insecurities I thought I confronted when I was in high school, all came flooding back. 😳 🌱2018: Painful Acne🌱(2nd slide, left pic) I don’t have many photos of myself from 2018 because I was so insecure about my skin. I would pick at it and avoid mirrors at all costs. And at times it even hurt to touch my face. The pic shown, was me on a VERY good skin day and one of the only photos I have of myself without makeup in 2018. 🌞What I wish I knew: just because my skin is having trouble, DOES NOT equal needing more products! it’s all about using the right ones. STOP over-exfoliating! ESPECIALLY with harsh acids everyday. try not to pick! (Easier said than done) your worth is not defined by your skin! (ALSO easier said than done) SUNSCREEN!!!!! 🌱2019:Scarring🌱(2nd slide, pics on the right) Finally seeing results in my skin! But I wasn’t prepared for the scarring and texture. What made it even more obvious was the makeup I was using. It also dried out my skin (which was already flaky w/ dry patches & oily at the same time😭). My skin also seemed dull and tired—which was probably to do with the anxious over-cleansing. I was terrified my acne would come back! 🌞What I wish I knew: treat your makeup like your skincare. ingredients are so important! don’t cleanse in the AM like you do in the PM. you’re stripping your skin and increasing the overproduction of oil=oily, flaky, dry MADNESS 🥴 be kind to yourself! you’re seeing results 💓 🌱2020: Feeling better, still learning I’ve FINALLY found a routine that’s helped me. And I am no longer afraid of the mirror. And TBH I never should’ve been! Confidence comes with time and while no one wAnTs acne, it is normal and we should de-stigmatize acne. We shouldn’t treat ourselves (or let others) poorly because of it. (‼️SIDE NOTE: if you are having serious, painful, etc. acne, see a dermatologist or a professional‼️) PRODUCTS USED: (they do change occasionally but these are staples!) BEST SKIN CARE ROUTINE
Hello hello ✨ I found this chart that I find very helpful for deciding how to change up my routine or keep myself consistent. Though I tend to switch up my products based on my needs, it tends to remain the same based on the type of products I use. Hopefully you’ll be able to use this as an outline to your routine! If you have any product suggestions or questions feel free to comment! ❤️❤️❤️ Cleansers: CeraVe - SA Smoothing Cleanser FENTY SKIN - Total Cleans'r Remove-It-All Cleanser Vitamin C: DERMA•E - Vitamin C Concentrated Serum Moisturizer: The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin SPF: sun bum - Clear Zinc SPF 50 FENTY SKIN - Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen Cleansing Balm: The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser Treatment: The Ordinary - Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA The Ordinary - Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% acne.org - Treatment (Benzoyl Peroxide – 2.5%) Chemical Exfoliants: The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution Mask: AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay Retinol: N/A
Hmm help? Advice ? Lol
Hey everyone , So I’ve been sorta breaking out, well right now in the photos it’s been healing you can say 😅 but I was hoping if anyone else has an other suggestions I’m open to all recommendations! The last few days I’ve been using Morning : CeraVe - Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 Night : CeraVe - Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser CeraVe - Resurfacing Retinol Serum CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion I’ve seen little by little improvement but hopefully it gets better ! Fingers crossed 🙂
This moisturizer duo changed my life🤭 Dry skin has always been a concern, and this moisturizer is a balanced solution to skin dryness/irritability. CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin This is a fantastic daily moisturizer. I use this as a part of my am & pm skincare routine to ensure my skin stays hydrated. The only thing this moisturizer is missing? SPF 🤪 CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 Okay so for my whole life I have refused to wear sunscreen on my face because I associate it with making my skin oily/breakout prone. This SPF moisturizer changed everything. It is a staple part of my routine on sunny days, and I’m hoping to be better about incorporating it on not-so-sunny days. While it looks opaque and requires a bit of rubbing in - once massaged into skin it is very lightweight and mattifying. My favorite thing to do is combine it with a bit of concealer for coverage 👀

UPDATE ON MY CERAVE SKINCARE ROUTINE
so I just started using these products exactly 2 weeks ago and I don’t really have any before or after pics but I do see a difference.! Before my acne was very inflamed and now it’s more smooth if that makes any sense. Some of the redness has also gone down. I still have a long way to go as far as the scaring etc. but if you guys have any tips for acne scars for sensitive skin (i think I have combo skin but I’m really not sure) please let me know!! Now I will go into depth with these products thanks for reading :)) The CeraVe Sa cleanser : Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 stars I really like this cleanser so far! It’s very smooth and doesn’t have much lather which I like!! it really got most of my pimples and acne gone within 2 weeks! It does exfoliate your skin every time you use it (I found this out from one of the comments :) so I make sure to only use it once a day. I’m still debating if I should get a skincare night routine as well but I’m not sure yet. Anyways to sum it up I really like this product so far and it hasn’t caused any trouble to my skin as far as I can see. The CeraVe Sa moisturizing lotion: Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 and a half/5 stars I really like this product! I’m just not sure it’s really right for me. It does leave my face feeling moisturized but almost greasy at the same time I might be using to much. But I do like it! I still have a big bottle so I’m not sure if I will be getting any new moisturizers any time soon but I am open to suggestions! The CeraVe SPF 30 sunscreen moisturizing lotion Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A lot of people had a problem with this since it doesn’t leave a white tint behind but I really love this product. The won’t tint doesn’t really bother me it might mess with someone who might wear makeup but I don’t so.. yeah. I would definitely recommend. But I am open to suggestions for a new one! Maybe something with more protection since it is summer time! Thank you guys so much for reading :))

How To Save Dry And Eczema Prone Skin...
I’ve had eczema since I was little and it got terrible three years ago. Since then I’ve had to create a routine to make sure my eczema doesn’t get to the point where they skin is red and dry. I struggle with eczema on my face and my arms but I’m going to show the products I use to keep my eczema moisturized and keep it looking as if it was never there. THIS ROUTINE WORKS FOR DRY SKIN AS WELL AS PEOPLE WITH ECZEMA First the type of soap I use is really important. Some soaps irritate my skinCeraVe - Hydrating Cleansing Bar for Normal to Dry Skin My dermatologist recommended the Cerave hydrating cleansing bar to me and I’m obsessed! I love this soap bar. I can definitively say this helped keep my skin moisturized. I use this in the shower on my arms and eczema spots on my face. CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin this keep my skin feeling great! The key to this is to put this on right after you get out of the shower to really lock in the moister. VANICREAM - Moisturizing Skin Cream The VaniCream moisturizer! I love this VaniCream product! It keeps my skin feeling great and it is one of the moisturizers I switch between! Definitely think you should check this product out! CeraVe - Healing Ointment I use this product every once in a while. For those of you who can’t go to a dermatologist I recommend you use this. The one I use comes in a tub instead of a tube but ether one will do wonders for your skin. If you struggle with bad eczema I recommend a dermatologist. My dermatologist gave me a ointment prescription. This really helped my skin. If you can’t go to a dermatologist then I hope the products I recommend help you!
I don’t recommend!!
NIVEA - Essentials 24h Moisture Boost + Matte Day Cream SPF15 I used this product a few months ago and my acne really started to take a turn. It was starting to be in deeper layers of my skin, cystic, my skin was also a lot more oily through out the day. I bought this product at a time where my skincare knowledge was not focused on ingredients. This product may or may not be the cause of my acne worsening, or maybe it’s just a case of bad timing. This product has alcohol denat way too high up the ingredients list, fourth to be exact. As I have previously mentioned alcohol denat can be very striping to the skin, which is how this cream was mattifying, despite the matte feeling at first as time goes on your skin will be so stripped it will need to produce even more oil to compensate. Alcohol denat is also very irritating and can also sometimes lead to breakouts. Overall a big no no in high concentration. Next on the Ingredients list after alcohol denat is cyclomethicone. A siloxane, another controversial ingredient in beauty products. Siloxanes do not break down so it is easy for them to contaminate the environment, and eventually reach us through our food (note that cyclomethicone May be an endocrine destruptor). Cyclomethicone is also a volatile silicon, so it evaporates into air, problem solved! WRONG, apparently it is toxic if inhaled. It is hard to know the truth with so much information on the internet. And though regulations of ingredients take the “not guilty, till proven” approach, I prefer to be safe than sorry. One of the reasons I bought this creme was the fact that it had SPF, but the sunscreen ingredients are also controversial ones, either environmental toxins, irritants or causing cellular damage. This product also has good ingredients (in much lower percentages), such as zinc oxide to help with acne and irritated skin (the percentage is probably so low it couldn’t be considered as a sunscreen ingredient). It also contains plant extracts. I personally believe you should do your own research and decide whether you’ll use a certain product or have a certain ingredient in your skincare. It is very confusing that we have to live in a world where we are worried if we are being slowly poisoned by what we use or eat, but that is the truth of it. I also can’t through this product out cause it may or may not be bad for the environment, I also can’t use it for the same reason and also the fact that it may or may not be bad for me. So I would NOT RECOMMEND this product to anyone, but the decision to buy this product and use it is in your hands, remember I’m no professional, just passionate.

Is Cera Ve Day Cream Worth the Hype?
I would say, almost yes. I personally love it. It has some of my favorite ingredients like ceramides, and its thick enough to really glom on to my crusty eczema patches without stinging. Its truly a non-greasy sunscreen that won't clog pores. But, having said that, sometimes products need oil to help break down that zinc so you dont end up with white cast on your skin. This product very much sits on top of the skin, which I personally love. But, I'm as light skinned as they come. If you have dark skin, this is not the product for you. I think you would look white right away, and possibly have patches appear later if it didn't absorb in properly once you start sweating etc. I wouldn't use this at night, as I say it's very much on top of your skin and not continually absorbing. I always use a water based serum first and then use this. It makes a decent base for makeup as well as its thick, but not oily. I'd say this is close to being an all day moisturizing. For a sunny evening I for sure have to re-apply. If its low humidity this wont be moisturizing enough to make it through a full work day. There website says nothing about being cruelty free so also a big downside

Rich Moisturizing Cream for Dry Skin!
Are you looking for an affordable & effective moisturizer for your dry skin? Then you should definitely consider this product! What is it? - CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin - CeraVe Moisturizing Cream acts by effectively hydrating as it helps restore the skin’s protective barrier. Developed with dermatologists and ideal for dry and very dry skin on the face and body, this rich, non-greasy, fast-absorbing moisturizing cream features patented MVE Delivery Technology to release a steady stream of hyaluronic acid and three essential ceramides throughout the day and night. - Suitable for sensitive skin, this oil-free and fragrance-free ceramide cream also helps the skin hold on to moisture while improving its look and feel. - Available in wide variety of sizes (1.89oz-19oz), with prices ranging from $5.49-$18.49. What’s in it? - Ceramides: Essential for healthy skin, ceramides help restore and maintain the skin’s natural barrier. - Hyaluronic acid: This ingredient attracts hydration to the skin’s surface and helps the skin retain moisture. - Petrolatum: Often referred to as the “gold standard” of occlusive ingredients because it creates a physical barrier that prevents moisture from leaving the skin. - MVE Technology: This patented delivery system continually releases moisturizing ingredients for 24-hour hydration. - Non-comedogenic, oil-free, hypoallergenic, fragrance-free and suitable for sensitive skin My review- - I have dry, sensitive, acne-prone skin. I’m currently treating my acne with clindamycin (AM) and tretinoin (PM). - I purchased this moisturizing cream in hopes that it would hydrate my dry skin and soothe irritation. It has done exactly that. It has a very rich, balmy texture. I prefer to use it at night for that reason, but if my skin needs it, I’ll use it during the day. (I typically use the FAB ultra repair cream as my daytime moisturizer). - It makes my skin feel so soft and smooth. Due to the petrolatum, it does form a sort of protective barrier that locks in moisture. It does, however, make it feel a little heavy on the skin. - I would definitely recommend this cream to those dealing with dry skin, whether that’s from winter or treating with actives.
