I Express COURAGE With Beauty

I first fell in love with makeup and beauty when I was in 6th grade at my middle school. A friend of mine was a true goth and always was covered head to toe in black, safety pins, and heavy metal band patches. She always had these mesmerizing big black Smokey eyes that she painted on every morning at her locker. I being a closeted trans pre-teen always wanted to explore the world of makeup and beauty but was too afraid to try because of the bullying I would inevitably receive. I had this burning desire to let my true identity shine; to be the girl I knew I was, and for me I knew makeup could allow me to do that. One day I mustered up the courage to ask my friend if I could try her Hot Topic black eyeliner, not only did she give it to me without hesitation but she encouraged me! For me putting on that black eyeliner felt so liberating. The bullying got worse of course but I didn't care because that eyeliner became my war paint. Every day I would go to my friends locker and play with her makeup before class, taking it off after school so my parents wouldn't see. As the years went on makeup became my secret impenetrable armor, I got better, I learned new skills, and acquired new products. Even though people were so cruel and harsh, so judgmental towards me for wearing makeup, it never stoped me. My Armor of foundation, eyeliner, mascara, and blush kept me going and kept me confident. Makeup made me fearless and courageous, it stopped me from caring what other people thought of me, because I felt beautiful within myself. Makeup allowed me to see the girl trapped inside begging to get out. Beauty set me free!t care because that eyeliner became my war paint.Every day I would go to my friends locker and play with her makeup before class, taking it off after school so my parents wouldn't see. My 30+ Attempt at an E Girl Look
My 30+ Attempt at an E Girl Look
✨ Hey just because we’re millennials doesn’t mean we can’t try on anything E Girl look for size. We saw Euphoria too you know. ✨ I love the trend of minimalist makeup looks with pops of color. Not all of them look great on me but I love this one because it’s simple, not too over the top, but is still eye catching. ✨ First of all, you want to start with a pretty minimal base and brows. For this I use the Suntegrity 5 in 1 Tinted Sunscreen (although any tinted sunscreen, tinted moisturizer, or light coverage foundation will do) I like to set it with The Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Power (although this brand has a super exclusive shade range and I will not be purchasing from them in the future. For brows I like to use the Ulta brand brow pencil it has a very thin tip and is very natural looking. A tinted brow gel can also give you this effect. ✨ For the eyes I think traditional e girl looks only use a graphic liner but personally I need to add a little more depth or I’ll look like a sunfish. Do I use a neutral toned brown in the crease (personally I prefer Freckle from the Natasha Denona Biba palette but any neutral toned brown will do. Then I do a small wing with a black felt tip liner. Now for the fun part: usually when I do this I’ll just put the pink on the inner corners I think it really pops and gives an edgy look without making me look like I have an eye infection. For this shot I also did some pink to outline the wing. My favorite product to use for this is the Suva Beauty Hydra Liners. I’ve tried a lot of “neon” graphic eyeliners and a lot of them fall short but the Suva is punchy and bright and vibrant. Just wet a detail brush, dip it into the pan, and add some pops of neon wherever your heart desires. ✨ Then you just finish up the look with mascara 🤷🏻‍♀️

I was kindly gifted some products from Caley Cosmetics to try a while back, Caley offers clean beauty products that are also cruelty-free (Leaping Bunny certified!). My favorite product from them is the CALEY COSMETICS - BEACHY KISS NATURAL LIP GLOSS WITH PROBIOTICS which is made with probiotics to help your lips retain moisture and condition. I’ve compared to the Kosas lip oil, they have similar ingredients and texture! Their CALEY COSMETICS - Beach Babe Natural Lips in the color “Nude” (pictured) is also a favorite of mine, it’s a perfect match for my lip color and so comfortable. Not only have these products hit a home run with me, the packaging is also the cutest thing and most products are under $20! Caley Cosmetics is a family owned, ingredient-focused clean beauty brand that I really wish to see succeed! I’ve found gems within their current range I can’t wait to see what else they do in the future 🙏 Products swatched from top to bottom: ✨ CALEY COSMETICS - Beach Babe Natural Lips in shade “Nude”. ✨ CALEY COSMETICS - Plumping Color Crush Natural Liquid Lip in shade “Guava”. ✨ CALEY COSMETICS - BEACHY KISS NATURAL LIP GLOSS WITH PROBIOTICS in shade “Mango Mojito”. ✨ CALEY COSMETICS - Color Wave Natural Lipstick in shade “Love Potion”. #CheriePartner

My Top Two Concealer Brushes
My Top Two Concealer Brushes
Since COVID hit I've been wearing a lot less foundation - I can probably count on one hand the amount of times I've worn foundation. Instead I've been spot concealing and rocking way more of a natural makeup look! Brushes have always been my favorite tool, but finding the right one can make or break how your makeup looks and wears! I use both the smith COSMETICS - 109 Buffing Concealer Brush and COLOURPOP - Small Fluff Makeup Brush in my concealer routine! The Smith 109 Brush is made with black goat hair and can be used for powder, liquids and creams. The Colourpop Fluff Brush is vegan and can also be used with powder, liquids and creams. First I apply my concealer with the Smith 109 brush, it's dense and round so perfect for spot concealing. I use this step to totally cover up the spot in a layer of concealer and let it dry! This step is crucial because it will maintain the pigmentation of the concealer. I then use my Colourpop Fluff Brush to buff out the concealer! It's a fluffy, slightly fanned brush that blends liquids and creams super well! I also will use this brush to blend the concealer out under my eyes. I use both brushes every time I do my makeup, and actually have a backup of each. 😅 #CheriePartner

makeup tools I CANNOT live without!
makeup tools I CANNOT live without!
all 3 are tools I use EVERY TIME I wear makeup. there’s been periods of time that I’ve tried different products, or deviated for a bit, but I always return to these 3. they give me the most flawless results, are super user friendly, and worth every dollar. beautyblender - beautyblender Makeup Sponge people will say any sponge is the same as the beauty blender—not in my experience! I’ve tried every competitors “dupe” but nothing comes close to the original. there’s just something about the unique material that ensures a smooth, seamless base every time. knowing where to use this blender can make anyone look like a MUA! it does the work for you. ($20) ecoTOOLS - Blending & Bronzing Brush this looks like a large, fluffy stipple brush. it is my absolute FAVORITE for bronzing. it applies the color in such a way that it comes out pigmented, but not too overpowering. I never have an issue of applying “too much” with this brush, and it’s incredibly useful. ($10) SHISEIDO - Shiseido Eyelash Curler I’ve reviewed this so many times, but it really is that good. whether I’m doing a full face of makeup, or going bare faced, THIS is my constant. the perfect curl this gives me lashes opens my eyes so dramatically I can’t help but have it in permanent rotation. I’ll never stop using this eyelash curler!! ($22) #cheriepartner

No-nonsense full lips

Hi friends! I don’t have large lips. In fact, I am losing a lot of my natural pigment around my lip line, so I am no stranger to lip liner! However, I can’t stand products that are “plumping” and literally burn the crap out your lips. No thanks. See how I get my full, glossy lips! Prep. Take care of your lips! My lip fav right now is the new lip sleeping mask by Sweet Chef (this was gifted to me). It’s not goopy or sticky and doesn’t have a weird scent or flavor. Vegan & cruelty free! Sweet CHEF - Sugarcane + Vitamin E Lip Sleeping Mask Line. Line your lips first. I am making sure to use a liner that is slightly darker than my natural shade so we have an easier time contouring later. You can see I am following the natural shape of my lips but I am filling in some spots where my natural pigment is gone. You can over line if you want to but I feel it looks best when done near the center on top and bottom and less on the outside areas. I’m using my holy grail (costs $2) essence - Soft Contouring Lipliner Conceal. This is optional but it does add dimension to your lips. Apply a light concealer (literally the smallest amount) to the center of your bottom lip. Blend out with your finger! I’m using Milk MAKEUP - Flex Concealer which used to be my favorite but I don’t support them anymore. GLOSS UP. Use a lightweight but long wearing gloss. Today I’m using NARS - NARS Oil-Infused Lip Tint which is conditioning but it’s not cruelty free and doesn’t last very long at all. I received it as a gift from a family member. Try undone beauty’s lip gloss instead! Voila! Your lips will look fuller without appearing TOO unlike your natural lip shape. Have you used any of these products? What are your favorite lip products? #CheriePartner

Not into a heavy makeup look or just need to look a little alive on lazy days? Below are my favorite products for minimal makeup! Not wearing makeup isn’t everyone’s ideal.. we have different skin concerns and even just makeup styles. I went through a phase of not wanting to wear makeup and having pretty clear skin! On my skin’s best days, here is what I like to use... Glossier. - Perfecting Skin Tint Just for tiniest bit of coverage. Easy to apply via fingers! I do not recommend it with a sponge due to its watery consistency. This is NOT for everyone, it really has bare minimum coverage. This only works for me when my skin when it’s at its best. Glossier. - Cloud Paint Seamless Cheek Color The best glossier product ever! Gel/cream blush with a bang! Add subtle color to your cheeks or wherever you need to add some life to your look, but not overpowering the natural look. These are very pigmented and long lasting. I love the cloud paint blush. Glossier. - Brow Flick For the brow babes that like a natural look. Like an eyeliner, but for adding hair like strokes into your brow where it needs it most. This can be a hit or miss sometimes and takes some practice to get it right, but once you do, your brows look really natural and stay put for the most part. flesh - Hot Sauce Lip Gloss MY FAVORITE MOST COMFY LIP GLOSS! this feels nothing like a gloss and looks so amazing. I’m not a gloss girl, but this is really it! #cheriepartner
