A $7 Concealer Worth Trying

Yesterday I was rushing out the door for work and realized on my drive that I remembered everything except to put on my usual mascara and concealer. I decided to stop and grab any old concealer because that’s the one makeup product I can’t leave the house without (well, can leave the house without but don’t want to lol). I can do without mascara for a 12 hour night shift at the hospital though. I stopped at Walmart and decided to try the e.l.f. - Hydrating Camo Concealer
because the price was right and the shade seemed relatively close to my favourite Too Faced Born This Way concealer. My Thoughts: + Concealer is light-weight. It claims to be full-coverage but I found it more sheer than other full-coverage concealers I’ve tried + It comes in a lot of shades which is great (28 I think!). I don’t think I picked up my exact shade but it was close enough when I was in a pinch. I grabbed the light beige. + It’s a satin-finish which I liked + It blends nicely at first. I did notice a tiny bit of creasing after a few hours of wear, but nothing anyone would notice unless you were looking for it haha + It’s hydrating! There’s nothing worse than a concealer that dries out your under eye area + The price is right. $7 CAD and you get a decent amount of product + I think this concealer oxidizes so be mindful of that I would definitely repurchase this product, although it wouldn’t be my number 1 concealer. I need to find my correct shade haha :)

BryannBrownYes yes yes 110%. And their 16hr concealer. E.l.f. did it right with their concealer game. They raised the bar for drugstore concealers.

Review of the Elf Hydrating Camo Concealer
So I’m a huge fan of Elf products. I have a ton and im constantly waiting for the next releases. I definitely think that with this company their products are either a hit or miss and sadly... this was a miss for me. I have dry/normal/combo skin, mostly dry and I’m healing from chronic dehydration. This product was great when I first purchased it, I was very happy with it but: It creases more than usual. I have creases under my eyes and some of them are very deep that any product will settle into them but this just built up under my eyes and it wouldnt look great after a few hours. I tried using a fluffy brush, a puff, a beauty blender, a tiny powder brush and even not setting my concealer but nothing worked. The doe foot applicator is way too big. I was so happy about it but it picks up too much product up which I found kind of weird because you only need a little bit of this? Its difficult to control where the concealer applies. The packaging is messy. The lid doesn’t completely close so because of the excess product on the doe foot applicator once youre closing it, it oozes out and dirties my other products. This also has good qualities. The finish is beautiful, whenever I’ve tried this on other people it has looked beautiful. This has a dewy/satin finish. A good variety of shades but could definitely be better. It’s also super cheap (6-9$). A decent amount of coverage, medium coverage but buildable. Let me know what your thoughts are on this concealer!

If you’re wondering whether we have the same skin tone, here’s 3 foundations I’ve more-or-less matched with: L'ORÉAL - True Match Super-Blendable Foundation Makeupin N2/N3 Too Faced - Born This Way Natural Finish Foundationin Vanilla PHYSICIANS FORMULA - Super BB All-In-1 Beauty Balm Cream in Light Aaaaand through trial & error, I’ve learned the best colors for my skin tone are: Peaches Salmon tones Rosy pinks The last of which is the tone of today’s product! L'ORÉAL - Visible Lift Radiance Cheek Duo in Romantic in Rose. Their website says the product is discontinued, but it looks like Walgreens still carries it. And I hope it does, because I really like this product. 🌺 PRODUCT REVIEW 🌺 This is a very pigmented blush and highlighter duo. Both have sparkles in them~ But the blush’s finish is like satin, while the highlighter is somewhere between metallic/ natural. The product is easy to build up for maximum pigment. In my swatches, I just circled my finger on it for a few seconds and THAT was the result. It lasts pretty much all day, though someone with more oily skin may want to blot off excess sheen. It’s definitely not a matte product. Easy to blend, easy to match for any occasion- I keep it in a bag in my car in case I need to stay the night at a friend’s and need a back up makeup kit for the next day. 🌺 HOW I APPLIED IT 🌺 I put the blush on my: Cheeks Undereyes & in the crease Since peach and pink cancel out blue under eye tones, I applied it there. I was partially inspired by Momoko makeup from Japan, where blush tends to go near the eyes! I brought it up to my eyes and crease, where it was pigmented enough to double as eyeshadow. Which I love to make the look cohesive. Keep in mind that I applied with a heavy hand in these pictures! You can use a lighter hand to look more natural. 🌸 COMPARISON TO COOLER-TONED BLUSH 🌸 Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with using colors outside what anyone recommends for your tone. Actually, sometimes “unnatural” colors are the best for experimental, creative looks. But I put the blush MAKE UP FOR EVER - Artist Face Color Highlight, Sculpt and Blush Powder in S214 to compare because it’s noticeably more cool-toned than the L’Oreal product. Sometimes, I have trouble telling if something is cool or warm toned alone. But when you put them next to each other, you see the difference. I still love this blush for more metallic, goth-ish makeup! But still, it can help you notice the colors that may be trickier to pull off on us like Mauve or Fuschia. What recommendations do you have for finding good blushes?

Overall a really nice formula for a drugstore selection. Texture is creamy, soft, and lightweight. Blends out fairly nicely and comes in a good variety of tones. This brand does lack representation of darker tones and ultra light tones but does offer more selection than some. Retails for $9.99 MAYBELLINE - SuperStay Better Skin Concealer

MAYBELLINE - Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer I’ve repurchased this concealer in color warm/light a couple of times. I use it for my “no makeup” makeup days. It wears well on my skin, it doesn’t crease, and matches my skin tone pretty well while providing medium coverage. Definitely worth a shot if you haven’t already tried this popular concealer. MAYBELLINE - Fit Me Concealer I personally love this concealer in color 10 fair. I use it in place of foundation, and it wears pretty well. It’s more of a sheer medium coverage, but makes my skin look great. This one also fits my skin tone pretty well, doesn’t crease, and wears all day. e.l.f. - Hydrating Camo Concealer I recently purchased this concealer for $6, and I’m pretty impressed. It’s full coverage and lasts all day. I got color fair/warm. It’s definitely hydrating, blends well, and covers all my little acne marks. Definitely recommend. Overall, if I *HAD* to choose one, I’d pick the E.L.F camo concealer, just because of how well it wears and covers, plus the price is on point. What’s your favorite concealer?

Which concealer is more worth it? Tarte & Undone
Which concealer is more worth it? Tarte & Undone
Preface: I love both of these concealers for different reasons and situations. I’m putting them head to head to show more options in the concealer world than shape tape 😉 I love a good sheer coverage concealer for daily use, but sometimes I need coverage for full glam looks. These concealers are awesome for different reasons but which one is more worth it? Products: tarte - Shape Tape Concealer UNDONE BEAUTY - CONCEAL TO REVEAL 3-IN-1 COVERAGE PALETTE Price Point: Tarte: $27 for .33oz Undone: $14 for .32oz ($10 at target) Coverage: Tarte: full coverage, able to be sheered out to medium coverage with a beauty sponge Undone: this is a unique product in that it has 3 different formulas within the palette itself: the top section is a sheer formula, the middle section is a medium formula, and the bottom section is a full coverage OPAQUE formula. You can use your fingers but I find it quite unhygienic so I end up using a spatula to apply it to my face & then blend out with a brush. Accessibility: Tarte: available at Ulta & Tarte website Undone: available at Target & Undone website Scent: Both have a clay-like scent but nothing overpowering. Overall thoughts: Overall, these are both great products. I really only use the Tarte shape tape when I’m going for a full coverage look. The undone beauty palette is so versatile so I can use it in any situation. Additionally, my skin type is dry so I find the Tarte formula to be SUPER drying even if applied over a hydrating primer. For this reason, I think both are worth their price points but would recommend the Undone Beauty palette over shape tape.

Full face yet natural look! 😉
Full face yet natural look! 😉
I’ve never liked the look of a FULL FACE glam, but yet I get tired of just wearing concealer. Some days I want to spice it up, but not have that cakey look or heavy feeling. Cause with dry skin, doing a full face can be so challenging! Here’s what products I use that have left me satisfied!🤩 Before I do any makeup I always do my morning skin care routine. - wet n wild - Photo Focus Dewy Face PrimerThis come out very illuminating, I think it does a nice job. For the price, it’s worth it. Definitely leaves you looking Radiant. I tend to use there Coconut 3-1 primer water on top of it, just to lock in moister. And with doing those 2 steps before applying the makeup, it’s been working amazing! 8/10 for the Primer, only because you don’t get a lot in the tube. 10/10 for the 3-1 because it’s just AMAZING and feels it. 😊 -NYX - Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil With this being a “BB cream” it honestly has more coverage then what I expected. Not Full coverage, but is buildable. Although for my dry skin the less I put on, the better it looks on me. It feels light, and looks flawless, when I tell u NO DRY PATCHES there’s nun! & I have eczema so it’s always been challenging. 10/10 for me, only con for me is the price sense it’s technically a “BB cream”, mabyeee I’m just cheap.🤣 -e.l.f. - Hydrating Camo ConcealerNow I ONLY use this for under my eyes!! For me it’s not really “hydrating”. But it really brightens your under eyes, it don’t crease. But If I use it on actual blemishes, it tends to look dry. If u only use it under your eyes you’ll be fine. 8/10 for me, only because it’s a little hard to find my shade & I can only successfully use it under my eyes. I LOVE the applicator though.😌 -MAYBELLINE - Fit Me ConcealerI use this on my Blemishes because it blends smoothly & has enough coverage!‼️ - PHYSICIANS FORMULA - Butter Highlighter, Cream to Powder HighlighterThis glides on so smoothly, and blends in like BUTTER (Hense the name). Yet it’s leave you with a lovely highlight. 10/10 for me, just WONDERFUL!✨ - wet n wild - Mega Length Mascara/ essence - Lash Princess False Lash Effect Waterproof MascaraThese are the 2 mascaras that I love! The Wet N Wild one works amazing for lower lashes, corners, or just hard to reach places. It has your lashes looking long & beautiful! 8/10 for me, because it sometimes will clump together & hard to separate lashes. But a lash comb definitely helps! 😅 The Essence one is my favorite, I heard so much hype about it & wanted to see if it was true. Let me tell u, IT IS! Your lashes literally look FALSE but yet real, I just love it. 9/10 for me, only because it’s really stubborn to wash off. 😆 - e.l.f. - Dewy Setting MistI ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS!! Sets your makeup & HYDRATES. So much comes out in just one squirt and the bottle lasted me longer than I expected. 10/10 for me.‼️

Best Full Coverage Concealers for Dark Circles!
Best Full Coverage Concealers for Dark Circles!
If you’re like me and have killer dark circles, then you know how tough it is to find a concealer that eliminates the darkness completely without leaving a grey cast under your eyes. Even with color corrector, my under eyes always look like I haven’t slept in days. I’ve tried dozens of concealers over the years without much luck—until now. I’ve finally found 3 concealers that nearly eliminate my dark circles—even on days where I don’t have time to do more than conceal and run—and 1 “honorable mention.” I’ve listed my game changers below. Do you have a favorite? Too Faced - Born This Way Super Coverage Multi-Use Concealer This is my HOLY GRAIL concealer. First of all, this concealer comes in a bottle that’s as big as some of my foundation bottles. You get a ton of product for the money (Sephora: $29), and a little goes a long way. There’s little to no dry-down time required (which is huge when you’re in a hurry), and it blends out beautifully. On days where my dark circles are exceptionally bad, I build this concealer under my eyes without creasing (I do set with powder if I have to build though). Added bonus: it’s great for contouring and highlighting, too! I will never be without this concealer again. e.l.f. - Hydrating Camo Concealer If you’re looking for a full-coverage concealer on a budget, it doesn’t get much better than the e.l.f. Hydrating Camo Concealer. This gem can be purchased for $6. Yes... $6. Don’t let the low price point scare you. This concealer’s formula is incredible, blends beautifully, and the coverage is flawless. I’ve not personally experienced any creasing with this product, though I’ve heard folks with more oily skin say they haven’t been so lucky. (This concealer is hydrating, so those with oily skin may experience more of a breakdown than those with normal or dry skin. Oil breaks down makeup—even when we don’t want it to!) This concealer comes with me in my purse for days I rush out the door without having time to put my face on, and it does it’s job every time. L'ORÉAL - Infallible Full Wear Waterproof Concealer Another drugstore formula I swear by is an OG: L’Oréal Infallible. Variations of this concealer have been around for years, but the formula has recently changed (I think) for the better. I do still get some grey cast under my eyes using this one, but only after I’ve been wearing it for 4+ hours. If I set it with powder before heading out the door, the cast holds off a bit longer. The coverage is beautiful, but I sometimes have an issue with a clean blend on days where I put on a full face. Overall, a great concealer to have around at just $10! URBAN DECAY - Stay Naked Correcting Concealer This concealer missed the mark on coverage for me on its own—BUT, paired with the Stay Naked color corrector, the coverage is almost perfect. This guy is my honorable mention and great for my “natural” makeup days.
