The correct order to apply your skincare
What is the correct order to apply your skincare products? This is one of the questions I get asked the most. With so many products out there, layering your skincare can seem really overwhelming. A general rule to follow is layer your products from thinnest to thickest, and apply your highest percentages of active ingredient products first for maximum absorption. 1. Cleanse- It obvious cleansing is the first step, but it’s important to understand your nighttime double cleanse. In the morning you will want to use a gentle cleanser which will not strip your skin of natural oils. At night, start with the creamy/oil cleanser first. This should be applied to dry skin so the rich texture is able to get your makeup and sunscreen off. Follow with a water based cleanser to get your skin super clean. Some favorites are: FARMACY - Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm

ariagroveReally really really love this eye sleeping mask! This eye cream works really well, and I see results right away. It really brightens your under eyes and reduces the appearance of lines around the eyes. The encapsulated retinol works over time and is quite strong so you only need a very small amount. It really makes this product worth it in more ways than one!

Oh look, another review of The Ordinary peel 😂
Let’s talk The Ordinary’s “viral” peel. I bought this in April after seeing KJB post about it, and apparently it’s also gone viral on TikTok but I’m old so I didn’t see it there 🤷🏼♀️ 𝗪𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬: The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution Don’t be confused by the name — it isn’t one of those masks that dries and you literally physically peel off from your face. This type of “peel” is actually chemical. According to their website, it is “An exfoliating solution to help fight visible blemishes and improve the look of skin texture and radiance.” 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨: Apply to a 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧, 𝐝𝐫𝐲 face. Leave on for UP TO 10 minutes. My skin is pretty tolerant, and can do the full 10. Some people say the tingling or burning is too strong to leave on that long — I don’t think it should “burn” but a nice tingle lets you know it’s working. Use maximum twice/week (I use mine every Friday without fail!). I also follow up with the PTR Rose Stem Cell mask each time to lock in hydration. After 10 minutes, my skin always feels SO soft and smooth. My sister said it helped immensely with her eczema after just one use. I think it might be actual magic trapped in a bottle. This little gem is $7.20 for a 1oz bottle. According to my skincare app, I’ve used it 35 times since I purchased it in mid-April. I also let my sister use it (maybe twice?) and spilled a whole bunch of it when I knocked it over once...and it STILL isn’t gone. I just re-ordered it so I don’t run out, but I really can’t believe how many uses I’ve gotten out of one bottle. This product is more than worth it. Even if you decide it isn’t for you after trying it, you’ve only spent about $7. I’ve (shamefully) ordered drinks from Starbucks that cost more than that. Oh and please use sunscreen (every day, but ESPECIALLY) after using this due to the AHA/BHA!
I used to have really nice skin but when I moved to Canada last year, my skin immediately broke out and has just been becoming worse and worse. I have tried so many products and none of them seemed to work. This is my recent routine and I thought these products would help but it’s still not getting better (in fact I’m getting more breakouts) CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin I use these products every day and night. I also use The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solutionevery Tuesday and Friday (I don’t use the paulas choice liquid exfoliator on these days) AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing ClayI only use this once a month.

The Benefits of Avocado
Happy Wellness Wednesday 🙋🏽♀️ We’ve all heard an apple a day keeps the doctor away, but did you know a daily dose of avocado improves heart ❤️ health, Dr Sandra J. Arevalo, MPH, RDN, a spokesperson for the American Association of Diabetes Educators says, the healthy fatty acids (monounsaturated fats) help with reducing spikes in blood🩸 sugar when eaten with other foods. Avocados even have more potassium than bananas. 😱 Potassium helps with lowering blood pressure and with prevention of strokes. Folate, a B vitamin found in avocados, also prevents strokes and reduces the risk of certain brain 🧠 defects. Applying to skin you reap even more benefits. The natural oils in avocados can deeply penetrate and nourish skin, it softens and hydrates. The hydrating properties may help to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, keep skin smooth and boost skin’s immunity against stress and other environmental factors. Specifically, antioxidants such as vitamins E and C help protect cells from free radical damage. My Favourite at home Avocado Hydration Face Mask: 1/4 Avocado 🥑 1 tsp plain or Greek yoghurt 1/2 teaspoon honey 🍯 Mix well until you get a smooth consistency. Apply the mask onto your skin for 10-15 minutes or until it dries out. Rinse it off with lukewarm water and pat your skin dry with a soft towel. Honey is antibacterial and benefits oily and acne prone skin. Yoghurt contains lactic acid, reducing wrinkles and tightening pores while he befits off avocado are numerous. I mentioned in previous posts I gave up on eye cream because the skin from our cheek to eyes is basically the same. But I’ve been using GLOW RECIPE - Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Maskfor the few days. I’ll post a review later but my initial feelings is it’s been great for under my eyes. That’s my wellness Wednesday. Hope you beauty’s a have a great day and leave me a comment if you have any questions. Jade 😄
ANTI-AGING EYE MASK W/ RETINOL & NIACINAMIDE 🥑✨
Kicking off the week with the GLOW RECIPE - Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask & I’m in looove 🥑 😍 This is such a fun and effective eye product- I’ve been testing over the past couple weeks and am really enjoying it. I love the texture/feel and the applicator that comes with it. This formula has niacinamide and encapsulated retinol which help brighten, depuff and diminish fine lines while you sleep😴 It glides onto the under eye area as a rich cream then effortlessly absorbs into the skin 💕

Some of my most used products!
These are all the products I use regularly, and I’ll just review a few quickly for you guys! Also peep me in the corner realizing at the last second that I was in the shot lol 😅 ☁️ SATURDAY SKIN - Pore Clarifying Toner 10% Glycolic Acid + Pore Control Complex recently my skin has been breaking out way more than usual, so I decided to add this baby to my routine to help get rid of my breakouts! I use it 2-3x a week and it might just be a coincidence but already I can tell an improvement in my skin and this is the only product I added to my routine! ☁️ HOLI FROG - Kissimmee Vitamin F Therapy Balmy Wash the smell is not my favorite on this one (it smells earthy and natural) but other than that I love this cleanser! It always leaves my skin feeling super soft, and who doesn’t love a balm in a tube! ☁️ BYROE - Bitter Green Essence Toner I have been using this one day and night since I got it months ago and I still love it (it also is lasting me super long)! It’s the first step of my routine and it hydrates my skin while helping the other products soak in better! It’s also my first time using an essence and I think it has really helped my skin! That’s all I’ll review for today because honestly I feel like I’ve talked about the other products here so much in my posts! But if you have any questions about any of these feel free to dm me! Hope everyone has a great Monday!
Glow -Tomato 🍅 serum & Bitter Green 🥦 Toner
Let's talk about these two boujee additions to my routine!! 😍✨🥰 I know a lot of poeple don't know about this brand @byroe. It's a luxury skincare brand but what made them luxury?😍 They're a women-led company dedicated to leveraging the anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of healthy and nutrient-rich foods to provide your skin with the same high-quality nutrition as your body. Okay, so I got these two very intriguing products from them recently. I thought why is it so pricey but let me tell you, they're pricey but totally worth it! I have been using their Tomato serumBYROE - Tomato Serum for weeks and it's amazing! First off, look at that bottle, that glow and that light it brings into your skin cabinate. Okay, maybe not for the aesthetics but I tested it out for it's performance and I like it. ✨What is it? It's a potent anti-oxidant packed with tomato extract, Vitamin C, peptides and ceramides. ✨Key ingredients: TOMATO CERAMIDES ASCORBIC ACID PEPTIDES This serum works on dullness of skin, targets redness, rough texture, hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone. I have experienced a beautiful glow whenever I used this. I am talking about a glow like I don't have any skin texture, pores and lines, and I enjoyed it. This also doesn't sting, burn or feels sticky or greasy. It's a beautiful water based serum that glides on face lightweight and abosorbs quickly. For my Acne prone skin this was quite gentle and effective! Another beautiful find is Bitter Green essence tonerBYROE - Bitter Green Essence Toner . This is so good for that extra oopmh of hydration in your routine. I liked this essence toner because it's an essence (preps skin for further skincare, usually watery) and a toner ( balances skin's PH level, hydrates skin and comes in watery or little serum like consistency) in One! It has slight thick, serum like consistency but not as thick as serums. You can say it feels like ampoules. ✨What is it? It is a highly concentrated pore minimizing toner packed with a powerful proprietary blend of 33 different antioxidant-rich greens. This potent green complex contains a detoxifying combo of artichoke, broccoli, and matcha green tea that hydrates and purifies helping to smooth unwanted texture and protect skin from dehydration. ✨Key ingredients: 33 GREEN VEGETABLE EXTRACTS A potent blend of 33 different greens including broccoli, asparagus, artichoke, holy basil, and matcha green tea CENTELLA ASIATICA EXTRACT HYALURONIC ACID This toner essence targets Large pores, redness, inflammation and irritated skin. I found this to be very Hydrating, and the best part is it has Hyaluronic acid along with Cica which is the combination I prefer when my skin acts up. I used this along with the Tomato serum and it feels really good. The results are quite good. I can't really say it minimized the look of my pores but it definitely plumped my skin with hydration❤️

COMPARISON | 🤔Is the Naturium Vitamin C a dupe?
The SkinCeutical’s Vitamin C serum is known for its EXPENSIVE (yes I really mean EXPENSIVE) yet amazing patented formula. Is the Naturium Vitamin C an adequate dupe? BEFORE WE CONTINUE: Yes, I know about Susan Yara’s unethical launch of Naturium. This post is not meant to support or attack her - this is only comparing what we know of each serum. I personally wouldn’t buy from Naturium because they mislead their customers. SHORT ANSWER - Naturium’s Vitamin C is NOWHERE near comparable to SkinCeuticals Vitamin C (let alone other popular vitamin c serums) ⬇️ Scroll all the way down to skip everything⬇️ What is similar about these serums? They both contain ascorbic acid. What makes ascorbic acid different from other forms of vitamin c is that is has the most scientific studies proving that it will work. THERE IS A CATCH THOUGH - Ascorbic acid is a very tricky and unstable ingredient so it will go bad fast without proper formulation. Why is SkinCeuticals significantly more expensive? It is at a higher price point due to the fact that their formula is PATENTED and it’s formula is well known for being stable. Naturium’s Vitamin C uses “encapsulation technology” (basically their vitamin C releases slowly) but this isn’t something super innovative that Naturium itself created. They claim that this is why their vitamin c can be formulated at such a high percentage without much irritation. ⬇️For people who just want to hear the real tea⬇️ 🛑What’s the catch with Naturium’s Vitamin C? 🛑 Naturium’s Vitamin C has a blend of Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate and Ascorbic acid. Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate is a DERIVATIVE (this doesn’t mean it’s not effective it just means it’s not as well studies as the real deal Vitamin C) Derivatives are a lot easier to formulate with, but are not as reliable. THIS IS WHERE IT GETS SKETCHY Naturium’s ingredients list has the derivative ABOVE the real deal ascorbic acid. Ingredient list are always labeled from highest to lowest concentration. However this wouldn’t be an issue but.... Naturium REFUSES TO DISCLOSE THE AMOUNT OF DERIVATIVE IN THEIR FORMULA. This is extremely shady since you want to know what you’re getting. They claim they have 22% Vitamin C, but as far as we know they could be putting in 20% of the derivatives and 2% of the real stuff. WHAT ANNOYS ME MOST: NATURIUM REFUSES TO DISCLOSE PERCENTAGES OF THEIR ACTIVES EVEN WHEN I EMAIL THEM (see the other photo) In summary, I wouldn’t support Naturium, and their Vitamin C is nowhere near as reliable as the SkinCeuticals or any other brand’s. What do you think? Leave a comment :) I’m always happy to hear your thoughts EDIT: Naturium claims to not disclose their percentages to protect their formula. However I have talked to multiple experts who say that disclosing the percentages of ascorbic acid and derivatives alone would not compromise their fomula.
Let’s first start with a major component in “preventing” pigmentation which is sunscreen. It prevents photo damage that leads to brown spots and post- inflammatory hyperpigmentation. My absolute favorite sunscreen and the one I have been using personally for 10 years is elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 Retinoids- They work by increasing the rate of cell turnover. It helps to fade dark spots, acne marks, melasma, sun spots, and liver spots. Just be careful since retinoids can also cause irritation and redness, you don’t want to cause any more pigmentation to your skin. A good over the counter retinoid is DIFFERIN - 0.1% Adapalene Acne Treatment Gel Pump which once used to be a prescription, is now available over the counter. Glycolic acid- A popular ingredient used in many skincare products because it works so well at reducing discoloration, getting rid of dead skin cells, and creating new skin cells. It keeps pores clean and reduces hyperpigmentation. A favorite, super affordable, and one I also use personally is The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution Be careful because it may not be suitable for all especially sensitive and darker skin types. Azelaic acid- Believed to work just as good as hydroquinone. It speeds up cell turnover and reduces inflammation. A great acid for all skin types and even safe to use during pregnancy. A great option is PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster I love adding a drop or two to my moisturizer. Vitamin c- A holy grail ingredient for many and myself. A vital component of any skincare routine. Vitamin C works a lot like retinol, inhibiting the production of melanin. Not only does it lighten dark spots, it helps to brighten your complexion. Vitamin C helps to prevent hyperpigmentation, and is most helpful when used in the AM. My absolute favorite hands down is SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum I have yet to find me a better vitamin c serum. Kojic acid- This also like retinol and vitamin c reduces the production of melanin. This ingredient is also a favorite in products because of how well it works to even skin tone, treat acne and acne marks. A favorite product SKINCEUTICALS - Phyto + Hydrating Botanical Serum With Kojic Acid Alpha Arbutin- it works by decreasing the activity of melanocytes. Alpha Arbutin is known to safely and visibly brighten skin and fade pigmentation. It reduces melanin formation, improves appearance of age spots, freckles, melasma, and post inflammatory pigmentation. An amazing and affordable product is THE inkey LIST - Alpha Arbutin Brightening Serum It is a great simple formulation, and super affordable. Incorporate one or more of these ingredients into your skincare routine to achieve great results in reducing pigmentation

💭Product Empty Series 💭 1
Recently I finished this sample size of the ELEMIS - Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm ! I got this sample sent to me in an Ipsy and was super excited to try it because full size retails for a whopping $64! 😱 Normally, I don’t think I would ever spend that much money on a cleansing balm when there are so many great drugstore priced alternatives but I was excited to see if it lived up to the hype. This product has almost 5 stars on all the platforms it sells on so I had very high expectations. After finishing the sample size - I can say I have come out with a solid opinion on this product. Is this a good cleansing balm? 💭 for sure! This god rid of all my makeup and emulsified very well when I added water. I didn’t feel like I had left over makeup after using this balm. Anything you’d change? 💭 the smell!! I know most high end products add a bunch of fragrance into their products for that “luxury” experience and I don’t enjoy having a bunch in my products. Since this is a wash off I let it slide but it made me almost nauseous every time I used it. I don’t know if it was just my smell sensitivity or what. Let me know if you’ve had the same experience below. Worth the price? 💭 I am going to say no. I think it’s super gimmicky with adding the word “collagen” in the title because it’s a quick wash off treatment. This product does feel nice but there are SO many good drug store options now a days that spending $64 on a cleansing balm seems crazy to me. (Side note: I am a full time student and working part time so my income is very low so maybe if I had solid income I would be more open minus the smell) I would personally just go for these great alternatives instead! 💖 THE inkey LIST - Oat Cleansing Balm 💖DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil 💖VERSED - DAY DISSOLVE Cleansing Balm 💞Leave your thoughts below! 💞
Oil cleanser for oily/combo skin!!!
I know most people with oily skin are told to stay away from oil cleansers, but this cleanser (found on amazon) DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil is amazing and I find works really well. If I were you I’d still do a double cleanse though. I am a huge advocate/ fan of the double cleanse. Oil cleansers are good because they easily break down that spf we have been wearing all day! You should always be wearing some form of spf! Gel cleansers are not always so efficient of breaking down spf. It also breaks down sebum, pollutants and difficult to remove make up such as lash glue. A gel cleanser or foaming cleanser can work as a second to rid of makeup and clean out pores. For the price of the product I feel this is a great oil cleanser!! DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil

GLOW RECIPE - Papaya Sorbet Smoothing Enzyme Cleansing Balm LOVE LOVE LOVE, would repurchase again!!! This is my second type if cleansing balm ive used, and i really do enjoy double cleansing. I used this first on dry face, then emulsify with water, then rinse! Then i follow up with the cerave hydrating cleanser. Ive been using this combo for as long as i had this balm and it leaves my face hydrated and non-stripping. I really enjoy the price as well compare to the FARMACY - Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm which i love as much, just slightly more expensive. I really enjoy this but would also want to explore cleansing oils. Any suggestions? YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - POWER OF DREAMS KIT with AHA + Vitamin C I am currently using DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum once/twice a week, i have the mini bottle, and i would never purchase the larger size due to the price. While waiting for the product to finish, i bought this to replace it. The thought of having 11% aha in this toner scares me, but i find it as equal as the drunk elephant one, ingredients wise. Any thoughts??? Thanks guys. 💗

CERAVE HYDRATING FACIAL CLEANSER - YAY OR NAY
Meh! CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser (3.5 ⭐) Let me start by saying I have dry, sensitive, eczema prone skin. I'm sure by now everyone and their grandmother has heard of Cerave, and likely used at least one of their products. I was really excited for this because it came so heavily reccomended and I am always looking for an extra boost of hydration in my skincare routine. It's definitely hydrating and does it's job as a water based cleanser but for those with sensitive skin proceed with caution. The product didn't make me break out or anything but it did sting my face for the first two months I used it, and even now it still stings my face from time to time. It's not bad by any means but if you have particularly sensitive skin, there are better options.
AM, PM, Occasional, and New Products!
I’ve been simplifying my day to day routines and working in “specialty” products on occasion, to save time and money. AM (Alllll about quick and easy!) Andalou Apricot Cleansing Milk Cerave PM Moisturizer Nivea Super Watery Gel SPF PM Cerave Hydrating Cleanser (or Andalou if I want more richness) EB5 Anti Aging Toner Curology (clindamyacin 1%, tretinoin .04%, azelaic acid 7%) Hadalabo Hyalruronic Acid Illiyoon Ceramide Moisturizer Acure Blue Tansy Oil Rotating Products Makeup Removal: Farmacy Green Clean Cleansing Balm (I know some of you swear by the double cleanse, but it’s typically too irritating for me daily) Exfoliating (in place of EB5): Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant, Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Ultra Gentle Peel (great when I feel a breakout coming on), Alpha H Liquid Gold (for when I’m feeling super lazy—I cleanse, use this, and slap on a thick moisturizer...that’s it!) Laneige Water Sleeping Mask: Great top coat to seal in extra moisture Cicaplast Baume 5: Also a great top coat, more occlusive and I love when I’m feeling super dry Acne Spot Treatment: Kate Somerville EradiKate reduces size and redness overnight. Tends to pull off the whiteheads and cause bleeding & thus scarring when removed the next morning, so use with caution Holy Grail: Naturopathica Alpine Rose Recovery Serum. This is a 7-day treatment serum that reduces redness, plumps you up, and helps bump up the glow. For use 3-4 times a year at most, so would be great to use if you have an event you want to look extra glowy for. (Who goes anywhere nowadays? I can dream...) New Products (both recommended by my skincare group. Will update) Stratia Liquid Gold: Additional evening moisture layer Stratia Rewind: evening moisture layer, supposed to help with redness too
The Ordinary saved my skin ✔️ I gave my face a break for a week and has been using hydrocortisone to relieve the itching from my allergic reaction due to CERAVE (refer to my last post) Been using the ordinary products for a week now. Will start the acids next week and I’ll give you guys an update. The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser - This cleanser is very gentle and I don’t feel any tightness after using it. It doesn’t stripped dry your face like other cleanser does. The consistency is just perfect and melts away in the skin like milk when applied. The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA - I have oily skin and I feel like the moisturizer is enough to suffice the hydration in my skin. It doesn’t feel greasy at all and very lightweight. This moisturizer might not be enough for dry skin. I feel like The Ordinary products deserves the hype just because it does do its job and is very affordable. What can you complain about it?

⚡️EXFOLIATION NIGHT ROUTINE⚡️
On Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays I exfoliate!! Monday nights are the days I apply my retinol, while Thursday and Saturday I use my regular chemical exfoliant ✨ 🌿CLEANSER- Krave - Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser I LOVE this cleanser! I have combination-oily skin, but recently I’ve been trying to hydrate my skin more and it’s done WONDERS for my oil production! This cleanser is not stripping at all and leaves my skin soft and hydrated! ⚡️EXFOLIATOR- 💙RETINOL (Monday’s)- DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel I’ve been prescribed this by my doctor about a year ago and saw a huge difference with my acne. I just started using it again, and I forgot how much it helps. The only con is that I forget how drying and irritating it can be. Once a week is a good spot for me right now at this dosage. ☕️CHEMICAL- YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner This is my first chemical exfoliator and it’s lasting me a longgg time. I enjoy using this as it’s very good at deep cleansing my pores and getting extra dirt out of them. It has a ‘natural’ smell, aka not an amazing one. But still gets the job done! 💧SERUMS- ☁️The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I LOVE THIS it’s absolutely amazing at controlling my oil production and evening out my skin!!! I will say though, I haven’t noticed it help with my acne, but I don’t believe niacinamide is supposed to treat acne. 🌊The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5Just started using this, so can’t really rate it. But I love hyaluronic acid serums so I’m sure it’ll be great :) 💦FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum this could be so good, but I’ve noticed that it burns my face, especially my cheeks when I apply it. Shame. 👀 EYE SERUM- The Ordinary - Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG I’ve struggled my whole teenage life with bags under my eyes. It seemed as if it didn’t matter how much sleep I got, I was always puffy and baggy. This is helping reduce the bags so much!! Bless the ordinary 🐘MOISTURIZER- DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream I have been using this for about 2.5 weeks, and i just love the look and feel of my skin after I use it and when I wake up in the morning. It’s plump and hydrated 👄LIPS- LANEIGE - LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask this is only 3 stars because honestly I get the same results if I put on carmex before bed. It’s a nice experience with the spatula applicator and everything, but it’s not worth the money.

*UPDATED* PM skin routine 🌚
This is my pm skin routine, updated. This is my part 2 to my last post of my updated AM routine! 🌊HOLI FROG - Superior Omega Nutritive Gel Wash my boyfriend got me this for my bday, and I’ve used it 2 times so far. The consistency is perfect for what I wanted, I felt like I needed this for my stubborn hormonal acne. It also is unscented. So far, I like it a lot! ☕️ YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner when I exfoliate, this is my go to. I have a review on this in a previous post, where I go into more detail. 🍃NATURIUM - Niacinamide Serum 12% Plus Zinc 2% this is what I got instead of another TO niacinamide serum. I like this one a lot better, and I think it’s simply because it is formulated better. It doesn’t foam up like TO does, and it’s also unscented. It’s consistency and packaging is also better. The results are what’s expected from a niacinamide serum, and price wasn’t too bad for this serum either. 🍁The Ordinary - Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG see my am routine post for details on this product. 🧬GOOD MOLECULES - Hyaluronic Acid Serum I like this serum because it’s cheaper like the ordinary, and it doesn’t foam up like TO did, but it still foams a little bit. It’s good enough for me, and isn’t scented. 🐘 DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream this is my night moisturizer, and I love this because it’s thick and hydrating. It feels nice on the skin, doesn’t have any scent, and makes my skin feel plump. It is expensive though, but DE always is. pmd - Clean Smart Facial Cleansing Device I got this in my subscription box, and I’ve been using it at night to wash my face. It has 4 vibration settings, I use the first and second one for washing my face. I do think that it helps with exfoliation, and using the other side of the tool is made for massaging in serums. I found that it does take a lot of extra time when using it for serums. I like this tool, it’s nice, but not necessary. More of a luxury item.

Post Accutane Night Time Skin Care Routine
While on accutane I had a very simple skincare routine to allow the medication to do its thing. I’m 7 months post Accutane, and my face is still pimple free. Yay! My skin care concerns at this time is discoloration/dark spots and minimal scarring on one of my cheeks. In this routine I am using the Fresh Soy cleanser to cleanse. It’s so important to make sure you’re thoroughly cleansing your face so that the remaining products can properly penetrate the skin. I use esthetician Nayamka Roberts-Smith (@LABeautyologist)’s 60 second rule when cleansing. Cleansing your face with your fingers for 60 sec allows the cleanser ingredients to do their job. This method helps to soften the skin & dissolve sebum blockages a lot better. I then follow up with applying a hydrating toner (Laniege Cream Skin toner and moisturizer) to my face with my hands. Then 2-3x a week I go in with the exfoliating serum ( The Ordinary’s Mandelic Acid 10% + HA serum) to minimize texture and uneven skin tone. Mandelic acid is gentle and works great on hyperpigmentation on people with deeper skin tones. To end it all off, I use the Kate Somerville recovery cream. LANEIGE-Cream Skin Toner & Moisturizer
drunk elephant A-Passioni Retinol Cream: i would use this as a spot treatment, about every other day. Its my first time using retinol and it is a high concentration 1% which is why i decided to start of slowly. I’ve been using it for 3mo now and i’ve seen a difference. New pimple/redness would be gone overnight, and my hyperpigmentation has faded over time. It does take commitment when using this product. You won’t see results overnight. It is pricey, so if you have the money, i would recommend this product. drunk elephant T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night serum: i use this twice a week. I apply it on dry skin, as recommended. It does tingle but subsides after a few minutes. Overnight, i feel that my face is smooth like a baby’s butt. I was really surprised on how well this works. It has AHA/BHA mostly AHA which works on the skins surface and helps unglue the dead skin cells so you can expose the new layer of skin. You do need to follow with a sunscreen the morning after. All drunk elephant are pricey, but would recommend 100% Farmacy Green Clean cleansing balm: first time using a cleansing balm and works so much better at removing my waterproof mascara. A little goes a long way depending on how much makeup you wear. I dont use much, but i do use sunscreen everyday (i try my best) and double cleansing is a must! Laneige Cream Skin Toner & Moisturizer: i use this every morning, after washing my face with water only. I dont usually wash my face in the morning unless i workout or feel the need to. This product works as a two in one: toner & moisturizer. I do have combo/oily skin, and some may say its too greasy for oil skin, but at night i use harsh ingredients and i like to use this to restore my skin barrier and moisturize my skin as my night time routine can be drying.
DRUNK ELEPHANT-A-Passioni Retinol Cream
Detoxifying + Conditioning Nighttime Routine
After I’ve worked a 12 hour shift at the hospital I sometimes feel like I want to treat my skin. Whether it’s because of lack of sleep, stress, or wearing a mask for so long, my skin can feel less than optimal; like I want to give it a deeper clean. Last night I decided to treat myself with a face mask. Step 1: Not shown in the photo but I removed my makeup with my Marcelle micellar water Step 2: I cleansed my face with FARMACY - Clean Bee Ultra Gentle Facial Cleanser I love the smell of this and how gentle it is on my skin. When I use this I can really tell it gets all the grime off my skin. Step 3: I chose to use the THE inkey LIST - Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) Blemish + Blackhead Serum around my nose and pores just to add a little extra help to the next step (clay mask) to get rid of those impurities. I waited maybe 10 minutes after applying this go ahead with the clay mask :) Step 4: I applied the L'ORÉAL - Pure Clay Purity Mask This specific face mask is for sensitive skin but I love the blue colour and that it contains seaweed extract, which helps soothe and soften your skin. At the moment my skin type is normal but that doesn’t mean I can’t use a product designed for sensitive skin 😜. I applied a thin layer, avoiding my under eye area, and left on for 10 minutes before rinsing it off with lukewarm water. Step 5: I cleansed my face again with the FARMACY - Clean Bee Ultra Gentle Facial Cleanser I figure if the clay mask is meant to pull out impurities, etc. then it’s important to wash those off your skin :) Step 6: My go-to, my old faithful: The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 I apply this every skincare routine I have. It’s important to rehydrate your skin after a clay face mask as some can pull out moisture. I love TO’s hyaluronic acid. I dampened my skin and applied this serum to lock that moisture in. Step 7: While I didn’t apply the face mask under my eyes, I still wanted to moisturize that area. I know eye creams can be controversial in the sense that you don’t really need them, but I absolutely love this one by Biossance BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream I can honestly tell it smoothes out my tired under-eyes and I find it really moisturizing thanks to the squalane. Step 8: In this last step I applied both products around the same time and gentle massaged them into my skin. The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil I’m so in love with this product. It’s such a hydrating oil and it leaves my skin feeling unbelievably soft. I also wanted to use the YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask because, while it’s technically a sleep mask, I find is sooo hydrating — and with clay masks as I said above, they can be drying and I like to rehydrate my skin. These two get the job done 💚
