Naturium: Affordable, Well-Rounded Formulas!

avatar
Skinsitive
Naturium marries biologically-optimal ingredients with aesthetic, minimalist packaging. They’re a step above The Ordinary minimalism while forgoing random filler ingredients like fragrance and essential oils, managing to be both affordable and well-rounded! • NATURIUM - Quadruple Hyaluronic Acid Serum 5%
A thin, silky serum that absorbs quickly. It’s loaded with humectants, emollients, and a few antioxidants, making it deeply hydrating. I use it mainly to dilute other products for my sensitive skin, but dehydrated skin would looovee this for twice daily use. Repurchase? No, I tend to use multiple serums, so I don’t need a specifically hydrating one. • NATURIUM - BHA Liquid Exfoliant 2%
Encapsulated salicylic acid + humectants = a hydrating exfoliant that helps with pore size and mild acne. Its lightweight texture is perfect for any skin type, except sensitive skin which may have issues with its citrus extracts. Repurchase? No, for fear of my eczema flaring with long-term use 🙈 • NATURIUM - Hyaluronic Acid Essence 2%
Watery? Yup. Hydrating? Very. Sticky? Not at all! Apply to damp skin for instant hydration- I plan to put mine in a spray bottle soon! I do think the humectant-packed formula would be too simple if it wasn’t such a steal at $16 for 170mL. Plus, it does include soothing beta-glucan, making it perfect for any skin type. Repurchase? Probably not, as I use a lot of hydrating serums. • NATURIUM - Niacinamide Gel Cream 5%
This gel is thicc, thanks to a few silicones and other polymers. It includes antioxidants and humectants to complement the star- niacinamide! B3 is popular for controlling sebum production, minimizing pore appearance, reducing acne, and its antioxidant status. This gel-cream is great for normal, oily, and acne prone skin! I mix it with oil for my drier skin. Repurchase? Yes! It’s perfect for layering over my serums in summer. • *NATURIUM - Intense Overnight Sleeping Cream
Thick, bouncy, and spreadable, its humectants, emollients, lipids, and antioxidant extracts leave skin soft and seal in hydration without clogging my pores. Dry skin, layer it over a lightweight moisturizer for plump skin by AM. Oily skin, apply right on top of serums for satin skin when you wake up! Repurchase? Yes! This is such a winter staple for me now, it performs like a balm, but with a better texture. • *NATURIUM - Plant Ceramide Rich Moisture Cream
Emollients, humectants, ceramides, fatty acids, antioxidants... This buttery cream is a great winter moisturizer or PM moisturizer for normal and combo skin, or AM + PM for dry skin. Oily skin, I’d avoid its rich formula. Repurchase? If I didn’t have a million moisturizers to test and review, yes! This is affordable and a lovely PM moisturizer. Want To Try: Niacinamide Skin Mist 2% Naked, Vitamin C Complex, Tranexamic Topical Acid 5% *Gifted

Which BHA Product for Your Skin Type?
If you deal with acne-prone skin or enlarged pores, salicylic acid (BHA) is heaven-sent for most folks. Oil-soluble, it penetrates more effectively/deeply into the pore than water-soluble AHAs, touting hydrating, antimicrobial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties in addition to exfoliating. But Which BHA Product Is Best for You? 👀 • PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator : $29.50 USD, $0.25 per mL. A cult classic, an international bestseller, a bottle of liquid gold. Water-thin, it contains a couple of humectants, an antioxidant, and 3 preservative/stabilizing ingredients. A super simple INCI list! This makes it especially friendly to many sensitive-skinned folks, as the list of possible skin triggers is small. Some people say the finish feels oily, but I find it intensely hydrating and it soaks in quickly, making it great for combo and dry skin alike! This simple liquid is my pick for enlarged pores and general skin congestion. • NATURIUM - BHA Liquid Exfoliant 2% : $20 USD, $0.17 per mL. Encapsulated salicylic acid and a variety of humectants make this a hydrating exfoliant “toner”, perfect for those with any skin type, with one exception- those with sensitive skin may have issue with the citrus extracts contained, though the producers of the extracts claim they contain mild AHA exfoliant properties. I’d recommend this to any skin type with non-sensitive skin looking for a budget SA product that leaves skin hydrated but not tacky, and helps to keep pores minimized and unclogged. Texture-picky folks on a budget will love this! • THE inkey LIST - Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) Blemish + Blackhead Serum : $10.99 USD, $0.37 per mL. This is the best BHA for oily skin, featuring a super simple INCI list made up of humectants, stabilizers, salicylic acid, and zinc PCA. Salicylic acid helps to keep pores clear while zinc pca helps to reduce sebum production, though I personally react badly to zinc pca- bumps and itchiness, unfortunately. This product is still one I recommend to friends, as it’s affordable and has minimal chance of triggering skin allergies/sensitivities other than the zinc, with huge potential for those that struggle with acne in general.

Hyaluronic Acid Essence!
Now selling at Target!! Essence preps skin up for absorption and after this I don’t need another serum I just go straight to moisturizer. Do not need toner when I have this. NATURIUM - Hyaluronic Acid Essence 2% It plumps, hydrates and improves skin appearance. I have been pairing this up with my routine with Differin’s adapalene.

Naturium’s Overnight Cream is AMAZING!
NATURIUM - Intense Overnight Sleeping Cream I had this on my wish list for weeks and was ready to buy it but it was always sold out when I checked for it. I FINALLY got my hands on it and it did NOT disappoint. This is my new favorite skincare product 🥰 My skin has been needing extra hydration the past couple months so I wanted to try something I could use semi-frequently to boost hydration. This works perfectly for my sensitive skin! You only need the tiniest amount. I would describe the way it initially feels as a sort of heavy duty chapstick for your face? But once it begins to absorb, it makes the skin smooth like butter. On mornings after use, my face has been super smooth, soft, and noticeably clear. If you’re worried about pores getting clogged, it’s a total nonissue. I have rosacea and zero problems with this product—it has no ingredients that would cause any issues or flare ups. In fact, I find myself extra excited on the nights I know I’m going to use it (this is not a product you need to use every night). And at $25 a container, I think it’s an excellent price. You need such a small amount for every use that it’s sure to last forever, and I already know I’m going to restock whenever I do run out. And now, Naturium is being sold at Target, making it even more accessible! This overnight cream is a home run for me 🤩 Great ingredients in this cream include squalane, hyaluronic acid, betaine, and honey.

I Have Been Slugging And Didn't Even Know It 🐌
Hey guys sorry I have been MIA, My daughter and I were sick last week, I'm feeling better but she's still a little under the 🤒 weather. So what is Slugging?! Slugging is nothing fancy, it's simply slathering Vaseline (or some other petroleum based product) all over your face as the last step in your skincare routine to create a barrier to lock in moisture. I use CeraVe - Healing Ointment and Aquaphor - Aquaphor Healing Ointment (the baby formula) not Vaseline because Vaseline can clog your pores. I do this the first three days post microneedling and i do this typically after a strong exfoliation like The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution or my favorite DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial Mask . After I do my whole skincare care routine moisturizer, face oil the works. I'll sit for 30 min to an hour and let everything sink in and place the cerave or aquaphor on top. It doesn't break me out even though I do have acne prone skin. The next day my skin is soft and hydrated. Another product that is literally made for this for anyone who is acne prone and worried about breaking out is the NATURIUM - Intense Overnight Sleeping Cream . I have used this sleeping mask as well, I love to place it in the fridge and top off my skin care with it. Have you tried slugging? Will you try it?? #cheriecreator

Best moisturizers for every skin type
Moisturizer Monday! 🌼The first moisturizer is the Ultra Repair Cream from @firstaidbeauty. Over a month ago, I had a patch of really dry skin on one side of my face, and while other products helped soothe my skin, this was the only one that actually healed and protected my skin. It has colloidal oatmeal with helps soothe skin this making this is definitely a must for my skincare collection. 🌼 Next is the @bliss moisturizer which I also like, it’s an inexpensive moisturizer for people with oily skin, I use it on nights that I have used thicker products on my skin. 🌼 The Niacinamide Gel Cream 5% from @naturiumskin is amazing! This is a great moisturizer for when you go back to the basics with a cleanser, a moisturizer and sunscreen. It’s lightweight and just skins into my skin. 🌼 Finally is the Natural Moisturizing Factors from the Ordinary, this is great for skincare beginners and just getting into understanding what they want from skincare. 🌼 What is your favorite moisturizer? . . . . #moisturizermonday #moisturizer #naturium #naturiumskin #firstaidbeauty #blissskincare #theordinary #skincarecommunity #skincarecollection #skincare101#affordableskincare #skincare #skincareroutine #skincareproducts #skincareblog #skincareblogger #ihaveathingforskincare #vitaminc #selfcare #glowingskin #deciem #skincarecommunity #skinessentials #skinessential #skincarereview #skincareregimen #skincareaddict #skininsta #hyperpigmentation #acne #discoverunder1k

Favorite moisturizer
🌼Happy #texturetuesday with my @naturiumskin Niacinamide Gel cream 5% 🌼this is becoming one of my favorite moisturizers, it is very light weight which helps it absorb effortlessly into my skin. 🌼 it is a hydrating and nourishing gel cream that has Niacinamide as its main ingredient and is still gentle enough for my skin. 🌼Have you tried it? . . . . . #naturium #naturiumskin #skincarecommunity #skincarecollection #skincare101#affordableskincare #skincare #skincareroutine #skincareproducts #skincareblog #skincareblogger #ihaveathingforskincare #vitaminc #selfcare #glowingskin #deciem #skincarecommunity #skinessentials #skinessential #skincarereview #skincareregimen #skincareaddict #skininsta #hyperpigmentation #acne #discoverunder1k

Skincare 101: the Basics
Three products are all you really need to care for your skin. Well, maybe not *you* specifically, but let’s be frank: most people don’t *need* a twelve-step routine to take care of their skin. If you’re starting off in skincare, your financial situation has changed, or your skin has been flaring with redness/flaking/breakouts, opt for a super simple routine for a month or two to see how your skin does without the extra frills. It may surprise you how little you need to keep your skin happy! • 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿: Cleanse with water in the morning, or opt for a hydrating cleanser if you’re oily, workout, or just enjoy cleansing often. Double-cleanse with that hydrating cleanser (and/or an oil-based balm) in the evening, or opt for a single cleanse with a gel or foaming cleanser. My milky faves are CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser and HOLI FROG - Tashmoo Water Lily Nourishing Milky Wash , while my deep-cleansing faves are CeraVe - Hydrating Cream-To-Foam Cleanser and PAULA'S CHOICE - RESIST Perfectly Balanced Foaming Cleanser . • 𝗠𝗼𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗿: Moisturize morning and night, regardless of your skin type! Look for products with ceramides and fatty acids to nourish the skin barrier. If your skin is more oily, opt for lightweight moisturizers like gels and lotions. If your skin is dry, creams and balms are going to be better for binding hydration and moisture to your skin. My faves for oily skin? CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion , VERSED - DEW POINT Moisturizing Gel-Cream , and PAULA'S CHOICE - Probiotic Nutrient Moisturizer . My dry skin faves are NATURIUM - Plant Ceramide Rich Moisture Cream , THE inkey LIST - Peptide Moisturizer , and DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream . • 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻: The most important step! Sunscreen is the ultimate anti-aging product, so reapply every two hours y’all. My main loves for all skin types are PAULA'S CHOICE - Youth-extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50 and elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 . Those with dry skin, I’ve been enjoying CeraVe - Face Sheer Tint Hydrating Sunscreen SPF 30 , though paler folks may prefer DRUNK ELEPHANT - Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30 . What’s your fave step? What extra step would you add in that’s not featured here? 👀 Keep up with the tag #Skincare101 to follow along this guide I’ll be posting to cover some basic concepts in skincare!

Update!
I feel my skin has its moments where it’s getting better and when it reacts to whatever. This past week has been a little stressful so it explains the active breakouts. I do feel my period is coming within the next week, so that’s another explanation for my flare up. I have even experiencing dryness more so this week, but weather has been a lot colder! Been on spironolactone for a little over a month now and I do see less active breakouts. I do see less redness in my skin overall and some dark sport fading. My routine has not changed. I switch between 3 cleansers CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser I have been using this one more because my skin has been drier than normal. I really enjoy it! PanOxyl - Acne Foaming Wash Benzoyl Peroxide 10% Maximum Strength Moisturizer: Krave - Great Barrier Relief I love this! Use it before my moisturizer! FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream NATURIUM - Quadruple Hyaluronic Acid Serum 5% I’ve been trying to use this again because my skin has been so dry as an extra layer or hydration. CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 0.0025% tretinoin I use it twice a week right now vs three times a week 100 mg of Spironolactone; I take it morning and night.

Update
As you can see my skin is doing a lot better! I have less active breakout, but the breakouts i have a red and inflamed now. I am suffering from hyperpigmentation now so if you have any products to help with that please post! AM Routine: CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin My skin has been dry so I use the CeraVe - Hydrating Cream-To-Foam Cleanseras needed mainly in the AM NATURIUM - Quadruple Hyaluronic Acid Serum 5%apply to damp skin and it soaks up! FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 PM: CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin M/W tretinoin 0.0025% T/TH NATURIUM - BHA Liquid Exfoliant 2% F PanOxyl - Acne Foaming Wash Benzoyl Peroxide 10% Maximum Strength FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream I will use the hyaluronic acid on my skin if I feel I really need it. I tend to use it morning to help with flaky skin. If I do use it it’s followed after the exfoliant. I stopped using the ordinary aha/bha for the time being because I do use tretinoin and the bha exfoliant. Because my skin has been drying out I ordered the Krave Beauty Great Barrier relief serum. Sadly wasn’t able to do the facial because of the tretinoin and I don’t want to stop the treatment for a facial, but we will see. Still waiting for my derm appointment Jan 8th to start spironolactone so I cannot wait for the next step.

Is this cult fave worth the hype?
Is this cult fave worth the hype?
I have sensitive combination skin that is acne prone so I’m very picky when it comes to products. ✨After seeing this loved all over Instagram, I decided to buy it but of course, it was fully sold out. Eventually, it came back and I purchased The Beet Shield, their matcha cleanser and their great barrier relief serum. And Oh. My. This brand is SLEPT ON. ☀️First of all, this sunscreen is amazing. It’s $20 for 1.69 fl oz. Truly my only issue is that I wish it was like 3 or 4 oz and yes I’d pay for a bigger bottle. It’s called an antioxidant fluid but yes it does work as SPF- the technology is just so far advanced for America, that we can’t even call it that here but it is! ✨This makes skin feel smooth and soft instead of sticky and there is no white cast. It doesn’t break me out at all and it plays nicely on top of make-up when it’s time to reapply. Try using a beauty blender for that by the way! ☀️I’m also absolutely in love with their cleanser and serum so now I need to get my hands on their moisturizer and toner. 💕This is officially my favorite sunscreen and of course, they’re sold out again🤣 Have you tried Krave yet? Krave - The Beet Shield

Sensitive - Combo Summer Face Routine
Sensitive - Combo Summer Face Routine
I’ve posted about many of these products individually, but I thought I’d share how I combine them in my relatively simple routine. For reference, my skin is very finnicky (eczema-prone, acne-prone, and very reactive). 🌤SKINCEUTICALS - Hydrating B5 Gel Hydrating Gel With Hyaluronic Acid The only reason for the docked star, is the prohibitive price. My mom got this for me as a gift when my skin was freaking out. It’s a fantastic hydrating serum that is thick and soothing! I apply after a thorough rinse to damp skin. When I run out, I’ll replace this either with Maelove’s hydrating serum (as the ingredients are similar) or I may try out their popular Glow Maker serum! 🌤DESERT ESSENCE - Organic Jojoba Oil Pat on 3 drops of jojoba oil then use my roller around my eyes and brow bone. 🌤KINSHIP - Self Reflect Probiotic Moisturzing Sunscreen Zinc Oxide SPF 32 Smooth an even layer for extra moisture and sun protection. The initial shine will dry down and give a nice non-greasy glow. +++ 🌙ACURE - Seriously Soothing Cleansing Cream Massage this in for 30 sec - 1 min, focusing on the T zone and where I’m wearing makeup 🌙CeraVe - Skin Renewing Night Cream (repairing) OR MAELOVE - Night Renewer (exfoliating) with DESERT ESSENCE - Organic Jojoba Oil I dot one of the creams around my face, add a few drops of oil and blend together. You can also “lock in” your moisturizer by patting the oil on top, but since these creams are a bit heavier, I like to mix them so everything has a chance to absorb. 🌤🌙Vaseline - Lip Therapy, Advanced Healing Skin Protectant I use this all the time- only wish is it came in the cocoa butter formula! I may try out one of the tins.. but seriously- no chapped lips in the 2 years I’ve been using this! I’d love to hear questions/comments/feedback :)

How I finally beat my cystic acne
How I finally beat my cystic acne
Before I go into my product recs, let me just say: NO PRODUCT WILL BE YOUR MAGIC CYSTIC ACNE CURE. Sooo many things went into my journey. Finally realizing I was allergic to dairy, getting an IUD, getting sleep, etc. These products are the ones that helped me take control of when the breakouts DID happen. Please put your physical and mental health first, and remember to love yourself AND your acne. Everyone gets them! PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator This should be everyone’s HG exfoliator. The aloe vera makes this hydrating and perfect for skin thats always too dry or too oily. Salicylic acid is also the only chemical exfoliant that can penetrate the skin enough to actually help cysts. COSRX - Aloe Soothing Sun Cream SPF50 PA+++ CosRX is a lifesaver for me. I want to try every product of theirs! This one is my HG sunscreen, though. It’s a hybrid sunscreen that’s rich enough to be a moisturizer AND silky enough to be a makeup primer. It’s perfect for those days when your skin needs a moisturizer, but you don’t want to layer up your products, or you just want a low maintenance day routine. #e.l.f. - Happy Hydration Cream[products]# I am so obsessed with this skincare line. Gel moisturizers NEVER keep my skin hydrated for long, so I always reach for ones with a light oil in it. Hemp has quickly become my favorite, and this moisturizer is my HG for year-round hydration. COSRX - Balancium Comfort Ceramide Cream 80ml Perfect to put on dry patches at night! Make sure you use a moisturizer though - it only locks in moisture! COSRX - Centella Blemish Cream Great to put on a blemish to take down the redness and irritation. ONLY use as a spot treatment at night, though. It’s more difficult to blend in than a mineral sunscreen and way too thick to put all over the face. HONORABLE MENTIONS: - Double cleansing with an oil cleanser first. Your skin will thank you. - Sunday Riley Saturn Mask: good spot treatment for whiteheads and small zits - Hydrocolloid acne patches: I don’t get picky about the brand, but I use these on whiteheads and over popped acne. Just make sure to dry/disinfect it first before putting one of these guys on, otherwise you trap all of the gross stuff in there. Overall, patience was how I beat my acne. I graduated, I moved and decided to take time off of working. I adopted yoga and a better sleep routine. I cut out dairy and limited myself to one coffee a day. I made my own easy and healthy meals. And above all, I limited my skincare to a consistent and easy routine with essentials that were no-frills. I used an exfoliator twice a week and found nourishing serums and treatments that didn’t attack my skin, but gave it some extra help. YMMV in everything I said above, but I hope I helped at least a bit!

Week 6 of Tretinoin + Progress
Week 6 of Tretinoin + Progress
Looking back on my progress (Before and after) This is the end of my sixth week going on Spirinolactone (pills for hormonal acne that I take 1x a day) and Tretinoin. I purchased both treatments from Apostrophe, so they have been prescribed by a dermatologist. My Apostrophe cream formula is 0.025% Tretinoin and 4% Niacinimide. I have normal, but dehydrated skin. I’m looking to add more in as I adjust to treatment. My routine is as follows: AM HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence HONEST - Hydrogel Cream PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ Supergoop! - Glow Stick SPF 50 (I use his to reapply SPF every 2 hours) PM DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner COSRX - Hydrium Centella Aqua Soothing Ampoule 40ml HONEST - Hydrogel Cream Apostrophe Tretinoin Formula CeraVe - Healing Ointment I can see my purging period slowly coming to a close. Whereas I got about (if we’re counting) 4 new bumps per day, I now get about 1 a day. And these ones disappear relatively quickly, so within 2 days max. The purging period is definitely the hardest because your skin is literally at its worst. All the congestion is coming to the surface. It’s really hard to lose sight of the progress you’ve made and feel like Tretinoin isn’t working so that’s why taking photos is important. So, I’ve chosen to show my progress from July 17 to today, September 3rd. This really gives me a glimmer of hope, as I was feeling pretty down while purging. Compared to others my progress is slow, because I slowly worked up to daily usage of Tretinoin. And every individual has a different experience with the purging period. For some it may last only 2 weeks or a month, and for others it may last 3-4 months. There’s no telling by looking at only other’s individual experiences how your experience will go. I really want to combat the hyperpigmentation left over from before and during the purging period (PIE and PIH). So once I’m sure my inflammatory acne is completely gone, I want to consider adding in another product to increase the speed at which my marks fade.

Simple Skincare
My skin has been really sensitive and stressed this summer, and as a result, I’ve simplified my routine to double cleansing, a gentle AHA exfoliator (a few times a week), and moisturizer. Cocokind Oil To Milk Cleanser - Gentle cleansing balm that transforms into a milky- texture (Pun intended), great for removing makeup ✨ Rosen Skincare Earth Cleanser - this is a great 2nd cleanse for acne prone skin types! This cleanser contains Fuller’s Earth Clay, Zinc Oxide, and Eucalyptus Oil to help fight against acne. It also contains Niacinaminde to help with inflammation. This is my favorite cleanser for night time. 😌 Holifrog Tashmoo Water Lily Nourishing Milky Wash - this is the most gentle cleanser I have ever used! 😍 This is great for dehydrated and sensitive skin, and it includes Aloe Vera, Vitamin E, Algae Extract, and Amino Acids. Krave Beauty Kale-Lalu-yAHA - this gentle chemical exfoliator helps even out skin tone by buffing away dead skin cells and by unclogging pores. This product has helped bring out my inner glow over the last year 💚 Rosen Skincare Moonlight Moisturizer - this moisturizer has Niacinamide, Sacha Inchi Oil, and Licorice Root Extract, which makes this moisturizer perfect for those with oily and acne prone skin. It also contains mica powder that makes this a great highlight to wear on its own or with your makeup routine ✨✨✨
