Skincare Story: Acne to Eczema to Glow-Up
When I started my skincare journey, I had the oiliest skin imaginable and dealt with constant hormonal breakouts. I tried every brand Sephora had to offer- each one filled with more fragrance, essential oils, and/or alcohol than the last. My skin quickly became overwhelmed and I broke out into terrible atopic dermatitis which would become chronic. And bam! I had eczema. It was... a struggle, to say the least. I went from oily to combination, with flare-ups that got me so dry I’d flake. Unpleasant. But I learned. I switched to fragrance-, essential oil-, alcohol-free skincare. Cleansers with gentle surfactants. Less exfoliation and more nourishing ingredients. Added hydrating products to reduce the dehydration that caused my oily skin and keep my now-combo skin happy. I gave my skin at least 2-4 no-actives rest days every week. My skin slowly recuperated. Now my hyperpigmentation is fading and my eczema flare-ups are less common. I still get breakouts, but they’re less painful and less long-lived. A few products (such as PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster
Arbutin for dark spots
Hyperpigmentation facial peels
Oily skin products
Acne scars serums

Travel Essentials ✈️
Traveling with a carry-on means you can only bring the essentials with you, since you only get a quart bag! So what did I pack for a week ? 1. VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser A gentle, yet effective cleanser is a must-have for any routine. It takes off my layers of sunscreen after being out in the Florida sun, and leaves my skin feeling soft & clean! 2. CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream This is my go-to moisturizer for my dry skin. It’s thick and creamy. My skin feels soft, hydrated, and protected after using it. 3. Krave - The Beet Shield This is the best sunscreen that I’ve found! It’s so light yet hydrating. It’s not sticky or smelly. I re-apply every 2 hours when I’m out in the sun. 4. PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster I typically rotate the azelaic acid booster with my tretinoin at night, but since I’m going to be in the sun so much, I decided to leave the tretinoin at home! This product helps my acne and post-inflammatory erythema. 5. L'ANZA - Healing Moisture Tamanu Cream Shampoo I love this shampoo. I only wash my hair every week, and this stuff is effective yet gentle. My hair feels soft and clean after using it! 6. L'ANZA - Healing Moisture Kukui Nut Conditioner This conditioner provides weightless hydration. I would typically use the L'ANZA - Moi Moi Moisturizing Mist after, but I didn’t have room in my quart bad so I’ll be using a small amount of the conditioner as my leave-in! The silicone travel containers are from Amazon! They work amazing and allow me to bring any product I want! What are your travel essentials?
FULL Gentle Hydrating Skincare Routine
This has kind of been the theme of my entire Cherie page since its creation, but I’ve been needing to really hydrate my skin more since the weather’s become colder. Having rosacea means I always need to do extra research on the products I try. So after some experimenting, trying a LOT of new products, and deciding to stick to some old favorites, this is the routine I’ve come up with for myself: AM Routine Cleanser - Inkey Oat Cleansing Balm: A recent switch for the winter. Leaves my skin feeling nourished and hydrated, but doesn’t tackle my acne very effectively. Might switch back to my old cleanser (Cosrx Good Morning Gel) and just use this when my skin is feeling tight/for double cleansing. Toner - FAB Wild Oat Ultra Hydrating Toner: Another recent switch. This toner is so hydrating that I don’t need to use hydrating masks or overnight creams as frequently as I used to and it’s very calming. Serum - Peach & Lily’s Glass Skin Refining Serum: This is definitely worth the hype. My skin has been noticeably smooth since using it. Spot Treatment - TULA Go Away Acne: Uses benzoyl peroxide to work on acne which can interfere with rosacea, so I don’t use this on my cheeks but it works well in other areas. Not a repurchase for me. Eye Cream - Cetaphil Deep Hydration Refreshing Eye Serum: I said recently that eye cream doesn’t work for me, but I’m starting to get wrinkles under my eyes and thought it was important to kick up the hydration and attention. This one is quite gentle and pretty affordable. Moisturizer - CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion: Undefeated! If I need some extra hydration I’ll add a couple drops of Leo Oil and mix on my hand using my ring finger. Sunscreen - EltaMD SPF 46 on days with no makeup or ILIA Serum Skin Tint: Both are mineral sunscreens and unscented with protection in the 40s. PM Routine Cleanser - The Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm: ...and I’ll double cleanse with my old Cosrx Good Morning Gel if I wore makeup that day. Toner - FAB Wild Oat Ultra Hydrating Toner Serum - Paula’s Choice CALM 1% BHA Lotion Exfoliant or 10% Azelaic Acid Booster: I like to alternate between these two serums. The BHA (salicylic acid) targets pores and redness. The Azelaic Acid Boost contains salicylic acid too, but is more effective at targeting rosacea specifically. Eye Cream - Veriphy 20/20 Eye Cream: Received this as a gift and I actually really like it! Contains ingredients like peptides, niacinamide, and cucumber extract. But it’s wildly expensive and I won’t be able to repurchase. Moisturizer - CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion + Astrologiens Leo Oil: At night I always combine these two if I’m not using my Naturium Sleeping Cream (2 pumps + 2 drops). I have individual reviews on a number of these products, so if you’re interested in learning more about something feel free to check those posts out or just ask a question here :) Most of these products are generally rosacea and sensitive skin safe. I have type 1 rosacea for reference.

FINALLY! It’s mine!
This is one brand I’ve been stalking and I’ve finally got my hands on the highly raved, much talked about PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator I’d say what really draws me to this particular brand is its commitment to highly effective, well tested products. I feel they really listen to their customers and value their feedback. Well, imagine my surprise when in pops an email from a Paula’s Choice social media team member asking for my address to send me some products just for being me?!? I couldn’t respond fast enough with a...., “YES!” I’m not sure why I’ve been sleeping on this brand for so long. I follow so many diehard fans that swear and have visual proof of the changes their products have made. I have a feeling it’s all going to change after this... Just a little about PC if you haven’t heard of the brand (taken from the website) : Did you know that the founder, Paula was actually fired from her job working at a cosmetic counter for explaining to a customer what products could and couldn’t do for their skin? (This is what we need more of!! I was immediately drawn to the brand when I first heard about that!) Our Philosophy Science & Truth Highly Effective Formulary Excellence Non-irritating & Fragrance Free Multi-faceted Formulas Cruelty Free Packaged for Potency Environmentally Conscious On the website you can find Skincare Quizzes that can help you develop a Instant Routine or develop a more in-depth Routine at no cost! You can also find Expert Advice Articles on just about any subject you’re curious about. Have a question about ingredients? They have every ingredient known in the beauty industry—-a go-to resource for everyone! Everyone needs to use this! With Paula’s Choice you can choose individual skincare products or you can have an entire skincare routine developed from start to finish! I’ve had on my wishlist, along with the exfoliator I just received, their PAULA'S CHOICE - Resist C15 Super Booster PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster PAULA'S CHOICE - Peptide Booster PAULA'S CHOICE - Anti-Aging Eye Gel Honestly, I want to try it all! I’d probably start swapping out some of the products I currently use for similar items. For instance, I am looking for a replacement vitamin c so I’d trade mine out for theirs. Then the Niacinamide and Hyaluronic and so on. I’m definitely going to do the skincare quiz and see what’s recommended for me! Do you use any Paula’s Choice products? What’s your favorite? Please share! 😘 I’ll be back in a few weeks to tell you what I think of this exfoliator! ❤️🍒
This is my one month update on my skin. I have been using tretinoin cream every 3 nights & and the clindamycin phosphate lotion morning and night. I then decided to change my skincare routine to a Korean & Japanese skincare, and I’m very happy I made the choice. On December 3rd I went to get a customized facial and my esthetician told me I have acne that is clogged pores underneath my skin, so she did a deep extraction and in another few weeks I’m going to get one more done just to make sure they are all out. FARMACY - Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm I was using the dhc deep cleaning oil but it was too thick for me so I switch to this and it is light and not stripping, good for a oil cleanse or a first cleanse TATCHA - The Rice Wash Skin-Softening Cleanser this cleanser is a nice hydrating cleanser and it does not strip my skin at all Krave - Kale-Lalu-yAHA I just started using this exfoliant but I really like it and I seen results right after I used it Krave - Great Barrier Relief this serum is another I just started using but I love it, and it have a nice smell to it Krave - The Beet Shield this sunscreen does not leave a white cast on my face, and I don’t feel greasy after PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster this products is helping me get rid of my acne marks that I have from my facial PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster I just love this! This is helping with my acne and dark marks dear, klairs - Fundamental Water Gel Cream I have to use a light weight moisturizer so it won’t clog my pores

Ingredients to Build your Routine Around
I am 35 years old with two kids. I have dry / normal skin. My top concerns are fine lines & wrinkles, preventing aging, dullness, and dark circles. When I started my skincare routine, all I knew was that I started to notice fine lines & wrinkles and wanted to buy new products for “anti-aging”. After a lot of research, here are my Top 5 Ingredients with proven benefits for 30s Skin: 1. Retinol Retinol is a powerhouse for wrinkles. It is a synthetic derivative of Vitamin A. It alters the behaviour of aged skin cells. It smooths skin texture, enhances radiance and treats aging. Retinol can be irritating to skin, so build up your tolerance gradually starting with a lower percentage and only 1-2 days per week. DRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni Retinol Cream Murad - Ready, Radiant, Retinol SKINCEUTICALS - Retinol 0.3 SUNDAY RILEY - Luna Sleeping Night Oil If you need an alternative to retinol because you have sensitive skin or you are pregnant or breastfeeding, bakuchiol is a good plant-based all natural alternative to retinol or rosehip oil is high in Vitamin A. HERBIVORE - Bakuchiol Anti-Aging Serum BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Phyto-Retinol Serum The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil 2. Vitamin C A potent antioxidant that helps reduce skin inflammation, irregular pigmentation, and promotes healthier collagen production. It neutralizes free radical damage and great for AM routine. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Time to Wake Up Duo SUNDAY RILEY - CEO 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum VERSED - STROKE OF BRILLIANCE Brightening Serum 3. Exfoliate / AHAs Exfoliation is about boosting cell turnover. You should do it twice a week. Use different acids like lactic acid and glycolic acid. Build up a tolerance. You can use toners, serums, or creams. Kate Somerville - Liquid ExfoliKate Triple Acid Resurfacing Treatment SUNDAY RILEY - Good Genes All in One Lactic Acid Treatment The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA FARMACY - Honeymoon Glow Serum 4. Peptides Peptides preserve and boost collagen production. Peptides are short chain amino acids that act as building blocks for proteins such as collagen. It improves the appearance of firmness and wrinkles. Extensive research supports that peptides improve skin function and appearance. The Ordinary - ''Buffet'' OLAY - Wrinkle Correction Serum with Vitamin B3+ Collagen Peptides PAULA'S CHOICE - Peptide Booster 5. Hydration In your 30s your skin tends to get dehydrated. Hydration will plump up skin. Add a hydrating toner, facial spray, hyaluronic acid serum. The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 **BONUS** SPF Never forget you sunscreen ☀️

The Process !! Everyone !!! The Process !!
Hey everyone !! Since you’ve guys last heard from me , I had a completely different skin care routine.. I just came to tell you guys how much I love THE ORDINARY!!! Thanks to the ordinary , I’m feeling better than ever & so good with my healthy , glowing skin. It’s only up from here!!!!! My new skin care routine is below : I start out using my Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser mixing it with YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser I then pay my face dry with a PAPER TOWEL. I stopped using clean cloths like rags or towels... they seem to work better. I after go in with my The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% After using, The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% ThenThe Ordinary - Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA I then go in with my Tretinoin 0.025% cream , mixing it with my The Ordinary - Retinol 0.5% in Squalane After this using my Cetaphil - Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream mixing this with The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil In the morning , I mix in my sunscreen with the Rose hip oil & my moisturizing cream , because my sunscreen which is CeraVe - Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 for Body with Zinc Oxide gives off a very white cast. At night I just moisturize with the listed above products . At night I also use my AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay AFTER cleansing my face . Then I go in with my serums & retinols. The Ordinary really has become such a life changer . Finally , Making me feel comfortable in my own skin. I hope this helps anyone who is going through acne. You’re not alone. Don’t let your acne define you! You’re beautiful!! Thank you everyone💓 I hope you guys keep helping me & stay by my side during my journey!!! Have a blessed day!!! Much love!
These are the ordinary products I use in my routine so far..... The Ordinary - Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% I sometimes use this as extra antioxidant protection after my morning routine. I don’t notice that much of a difference with my skin but it can’t hurt and I like the texture and feel it leaves on my skin. The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil I use this every night after my night cream for extra moisture and to help with acne scarring. I’ve heard it helps so much with scarring. I’m also adding The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%to my routine soon to help with scarring and hyperpigmentation as well. I love the rosehip oil for extra moisture and my skin feels so smooth in the morning. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution I use this twice a week and I’ve been faithfully using it for 3 months and I’m just now seeing a difference. I almost gave up but everyone has sworn by this so I thought it couldn’t hurt to stick with it. It tingles and I used to leave it on for the full 10 min and now with the extra acne products I’m using my skin is a little more sensitive so I leave it on for 5-6 minutes. Definitely wake up with baby smooth skin the next morning. I’m hoping to see results with my old acne scars too.

My skincare (normal to oily sensitive skin)
My current routine! I have ups & downs & some I want to improve but this is what it’s currently at! Not pictured: TATCHA - Calming Foaming Enzyme Powder Absolutely love! Was going back & forth between this version & the one for oily skin but this one is juuuuuust right for my picky skin!! Pictured: (in order of use) TATCHA - The Essence Plumping Skin Softener Omg-it’s a game changer! This stuff may just look like fancy water (lol who am I kidding-I use evian - Brumisateur Natural Mineral Water Facial Spray so yeah-THATS fancy water but I love it! lol) but this stuff is 100% the real deal! I’ve noticed that products glide one & I don’t have as much of the shiny effect after putting on my skincare routine! Yay! DRUNK ELEPHANT - Shaba Complex Firming Eye Serum Ok so warning on this one-you’ll never use a full pump unless you share with 2 other people at the same time-this pump is stupid-I hate it but the product so far has done a good job & hasn’t made me run to go find a new one right away-could it be improved...? Yeah-but it’s a good option for me for now 😊 also-I don’t like using this by itself cuz it’s drying... so for a fix to that I added.... DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream One again-you don’t need a full pump unless you’re sharing-no one has that much surface area to cover with this...ugh. This is the step that was missing when I just was using the firming serum-this is hydrating & goes after because it’s thicker. The combo works for me. Would I rather have 1 product? Yes. Would I rather have a better pump that doesn’t portion out share sizes of product? Yes.... am I rushing to Sephora to find a new one? Ha! No.... Curology - Curology formula My 2 cents on those people who hate this? It’s not for you & that’s ok! But dang does this work for me!! It’s a must have!! Love it!! -or- never and DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum I haven’t used this enough to rate but this is supposedly suppose to help with dark spots & pores? We shall see tester size...we shall see... TATCHA - The Water Cream Omg moisture heaven! Smells like a spa, glides on like a dream AND has gold in it? Sign me up! This stuff is amazing-I love it & it does wonders for me! Add ons! TATCHA - THE SERUM STICK Not in love-good for dry spots or singular areas every once in a while but meh-not worth it & not a fave of mine. TATCHA - Luminous Dewy Skin Mist Also-not in love. Is it nice when I’m dried out? Yeah! Does it last? Nooooot really? Meh-I have it I’ll use it & I won’t buy again... TATCHA - Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 35 PA+++ Meh-this is just....meh. Again will use it up & not rebuy....
The Trunk 4.0🎪🐘
🎪DRUNK ELEPHANT - The Trunk 4.0 This kit comes fully stocked with everything you need for a truly complete skincare routine & a swift getaway! 🛩☁️ I wouldn’t travel right now, even if you paid me. Covid numbers aren’t going down & I take these facts very seriously. Haven’t had contact with almost anyone since March, because I do have a neurological disease that could put me at risk. I can’t tell anyone what to do... but do I urge you to consciously protect strangers while protecting yourself & your loved ones. My condition is one often referred to as an “Invisible Illness”. Many people have health conditions that others don’t outrightly see. Most people think I’m completely able-bodied unless I’m seen limping or having convulsions. I’ve only had this condition since 2014, so it’s been an adjustment & learning experience for my own prejudgements as well. 🧳My bf really likes the Monos locking suitcase & encouraged me to purchase this while the big Sephora sale was going on. He has to travel for his essential-work sometimes & this is a perfect carry-on size! It’s just as wide & deep as the ‘Monos Carry-On’ ($293) & only 4” shorter. specs: 18” high x 14” wide x 9” deep. Monos describes their Carry-On as: Designed to comply with the size restrictions of as many airlines as possible, & fits in the overhead bin of nearly any flight. So I think this slightly shorter rolling suitcase would 99% likely be accepted as a carry-on. 💚Really impressed with the quality! Its lightweight but well structured, great features/compartments + an antibacterial laundry bag. I’m totally new to Drunk Elephant, but I wanted to try their L-Ascorbic Acid serum, Glycolic Acid serum & the Babyfacial🍼🐘 I also want to start using a gentle retinol. Those 4 products alone would have been $324! With my Rouge discount: $360! Regular price is $450- You get 10 full size products, 3 minis +5 sample packets. 18 different things to try! ➖Which would you like me to review first?➖ 🐘I want to trial everything before I review! Empties!!! Best of 2020
ACURE - Seriously Soothing Cleansing Cream A perfect gentle cleanse for dry, sensitive skin and does not feel like the skin is stripped at all. ll.ACURE - Ultra Hydrating Green Juice Cleanser Ideal for dry, dehydrated skin types. Very creamy consistency with a light lather effect. skyn ICELAND - Glacial Face Wash A creamy, clay type consistency that is ideal for normal to oily skin and offers a deep, refreshing clean. Kiehl's - Ultra Facial Cream Incredible cream. If you have reactive, dry, sensitive skin or are allergic to fragrance, give this a try. It feels like a light emollient texture and makes the perfect night cream if you are more oily. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Hydra-Firm Sleeping Cream Another amazing emollient night cream rich with Peptides and ceramides to keep your skin barrier protected. Also fragrance free. PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega + Complex Serum Instant relief for a dry, compromised barrier. It pairs beautifully under a moisturizer if you want extra nourishment. This serum also has ceramides and fatty acids but feels light enough to wear during the day. Once again, fragrance free. I loved all the products mentioned and will not hesitate to repurchase them. Let me know if you love them as much as I did!
Anti-Aging for Sensitive Skin
Now most people think of anti aging and grab products with a high amount of active ingredients in them to ensure they're getting the maximum amount of benefits The reality is that too many actives normally result in a damaged skin barrier that can only cause your skin to look further aged and fragile. For this reason, it's important to give actives a break and focus on soothing and gentle ingredients that will help sensitive skin looking youthful and fresh. Here are 2 examples of exceptional products that are perfect for gentle anti aging. PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega + Complex Serum I am fully satisfied with how nourished and hydrated my skin feels after putting this on. Some of the key ingredients include chia and flaxseed oils for those rich Omega fatty acids, which do wonders for your skin. This is also followed by olive oil and a bunch of ceramides. Perfect for a compromised barrier or overall sensitivity FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Hydra-Firm Sleeping Cream Also very impressed with this product. The perfect nighttime emollient cream to leave your skin feeling buttery soft and plump the next day. The formula contains shea butter, oatmeal, jojoba esters and peptides for the perfect overnight repair. I would 100% recommend these for people with sensitive skin, dry skin, or damaged skin. I will certainly be repurchasing these as well.

Eco-Friendly Skincare: Paula’s Choice
I have sensitive, combination skin that reacts strongly to essential oils and fragrance, which narrows my options for skincare- but thankfully, my favourite brands are actually pretty sustainable! Especially a long-time fave, Paula’s Choice. I hadn’t really thought of sustainability in skincare, as I tend to reuse my containers for other things. But I appreciate that Paula’s Choice partners with TerraCycle to make recycling their recyclable products (all of them!) more accessible, as well as eliminating their carton packaging on the majority of their products, using recyclable shipping materials, reducing their plastic use, and using ingredients that aren’t derived from threatened plant species. Some of my favourite products of theirs for various skin issues include: • Enlarged Pores/Acne:PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator is my favourite BHA product! It has a simple, short ingredient list that focuses on 2% Salicylic Acid, an oil-soluble exfoliant that helps to deeply clear out pores. It’s a thin watery toner that can be easily applied with the palms to reduce the occurrence of non-inflammatory acne. • Dryness/Irritation: PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega + Complex Serum is a forever-repurchase for me. It’s a lotiony cream-serum that is full of omega fatty acids, ceramides, and nourishing emollients that help to fortify the skin barrier to retain hydration and minimize inflammation that contributes to redness/irritation. • Fine Lines/Aging: PAULA'S CHOICE - Resist Barrier Repair Moisturizer, 50ml is a lightweight but nourishing moisturizer that contains retinol, peptides, ceramides, and antioxidants to combat present signs of aging and prevent future ones when used before sunscreen. (In addition, remember that reusable water bottles are preferable to plastic water bottles! I love the BKR glass water bottles for when I’m at home, especially my #bkr - Spiked Winter 500 ML[products]#[FourStars] , though I have a giant metal 1-liter waterbottle for the gym) #CheriePartner
My new skincare routine
Since I’ve been introduced to this brand , i can simply tell how they’ve made my life a way better ❤️ i like the new routine , it works for me & I’m so glad to have followed all the tips . #paulaschoice, i wishes i had used them sooner, but never too late . I starting using these products a few weeks now, and the toner PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator has almost eliminated the sebum buildup and reduced the size of my pores. I also like the cleanser PAULA'S CHOICE - Defense Hydrating Gel-to-Cream Cleanser is very fantastic, not drying, and very pleasant to use . Also, the retinol cream moistures PAULA'S CHOICE - Resist Barrier Repair Moisturizer, 50ml without leaving an oily skin. Definitely ordering more during the winter.

Which BHA Product for Your Skin Type?
If you deal with acne-prone skin or enlarged pores, salicylic acid (BHA) is heaven-sent for most folks. Oil-soluble, it penetrates more effectively/deeply into the pore than water-soluble AHAs, touting hydrating, antimicrobial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties in addition to exfoliating. But Which BHA Product Is Best for You? 👀 • PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator : $29.50 USD, $0.25 per mL. A cult classic, an international bestseller, a bottle of liquid gold. Water-thin, it contains a couple of humectants, an antioxidant, and 3 preservative/stabilizing ingredients. A super simple INCI list! This makes it especially friendly to many sensitive-skinned folks, as the list of possible skin triggers is small. Some people say the finish feels oily, but I find it intensely hydrating and it soaks in quickly, making it great for combo and dry skin alike! This simple liquid is my pick for enlarged pores and general skin congestion. • NATURIUM - BHA Liquid Exfoliant 2% : $20 USD, $0.17 per mL. Encapsulated salicylic acid and a variety of humectants make this a hydrating exfoliant “toner”, perfect for those with any skin type, with one exception- those with sensitive skin may have issue with the citrus extracts contained, though the producers of the extracts claim they contain mild AHA exfoliant properties. I’d recommend this to any skin type with non-sensitive skin looking for a budget SA product that leaves skin hydrated but not tacky, and helps to keep pores minimized and unclogged. Texture-picky folks on a budget will love this! • THE inkey LIST - Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) Blemish + Blackhead Serum : $10.99 USD, $0.37 per mL. This is the best BHA for oily skin, featuring a super simple INCI list made up of humectants, stabilizers, salicylic acid, and zinc PCA. Salicylic acid helps to keep pores clear while zinc pca helps to reduce sebum production, though I personally react badly to zinc pca- bumps and itchiness, unfortunately. This product is still one I recommend to friends, as it’s affordable and has minimal chance of triggering skin allergies/sensitivities other than the zinc, with huge potential for those that struggle with acne in general.
Review: the ordinary peeling solution
Everyone has been raving about this product, so I decided to give it a go. I used this product once a week for about 3 months. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution Benefits: AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution from The Ordinary offers deeper exfoliation to help fight signs of pore congestion and improve skin radiance. The formula also improves the appearance of skin texture and reduces the look of fine lines. My experience: This product worked very well with my skin type (combo/ acne prone). I always used it according to the directions and most of the time felt a bit of a tingle, which is normal. After every use, my skin felt very smooth and looked nice and dewy. This product also helped fade my dark spots and made my acne subside. I found that after a month, I did notice a difference in my pores (appeared a bit smaller). My review: I do like this product! Looking at reviews of the peeling solution, it seems a good amount of people who have sensitive skin found this product to be irritating. My skin can be sensitive, but I’ve never had a problem! The peeling solution was my first experience using a chemical exfoliant and I’m glad I tried it! However, now that I have used PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator I do reach for this one over the peeling solution because I do think it’s a better product. Both of these products are great liquid exfoliants!

My Simple Ritual: Update
Well... since I’ve been MIA for almost 9 months, I figured it was time to post an updated skincare routine! Quarantine, esthiology school, and the political climate have brought major changes into my life, thought process, and my skincare routine. Practically everything has changed in my ritual, except for one product (my tried-and-true Foreo). Some are revisits to products that I’ve used before but I wanted to give second chances, and some are brand new interests! Let’s get started: Cleanse 🧼: This has become a 2-part process for me. I’ve been using the BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil and the OLE HENRIKSEN - Truth Juice Daily Cleanser in order to double cleanse. I used to think that double cleansing was too much for my sensitive skin, but that has proven to be false. I love these 2 products a lot! Especially the Ole Henriksen cleanser. I’ve used the Biossance cleansing oil in the past, and just decided to give it another try. I like it, but I just can’t justify the price (hence the 3 stars). Nothing wrong with it though! It does it’s job. Exfoliate ✨: To help aid in exfoliation and deliver a powerful cleanse, I’ve been using theFOREO - LUNA mini 2 with my water-based cleanser. I don’t think this little guy is going anywhere anytime soon! This is a powerful tool that’s definitely worth the investment! Treat 🧪: Reunited and it feels SO good! Here comes 2 more products that I’ve tried in the past and still love. Here we have the SK-II - Facial Treatment Essence (Pitera Essence) and the DRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni Retinol Cream . I love the simplicity of the essence and how potent and hydrating it is. I honestly wish I would’ve bought a bigger bottle, but I didn’t know if I, or my skin, would love it. But here we are, regretful. The retinol from Drunk Elephant has reached cult status, and for good reason. Moisturize 💦: The ALGENIST - Advanced Anti-Aging Repairing Oil has won over my heart and soul! This product is non-comedogenic AND has a very light form of retinol in it. Y’all know how much I adore a good facial oil to seal in everything. Protect 🕶: No one, and I mean no one, can argue that SPF is the most important topical product. The Supergoop! - Zincscreen 100% Mineral Lotion SPF 40 PA+++ seems to have been sent straight from heaven. I’m glad I found my way back to this product. This works way better for me than the Krave Beauty sunscreen, for sure. And it’s tinted! Needless to say, my skin is GLOWING greater than the pits of hell thanks to these products. And, as an esthetician, that’s important to me. I loved my old ritual, but I wanted more enhancement. I simply felt like there was better out there. I feel like a new soul.
New Season, New Makeup faves!
And a new haircut?! Omg, my first quarantine haircut and it’s been making me feel refreshed and reset for the fall season. ✨Want to know what else I’m loving about fall besides the sweaters and leaves changing color? Heated colors and eyeshadow palettes are back in style. I’ve discovered some new makeup that I’m excited can be added to my holy grail counter. Check it out! ✨Started my base off with Supergoop! - Zincscreen 100% Mineral Lotion SPF 40 PA+++ which is easy to reapply throughout the day while keeping the rest your makeup easy to touch up along with it without any weird pilling/ other layering issues whatsoever. ✨My eyebrows are already pretty thick, so no need to color in sparse areas. I grabbed Glossier. - Boy Brow in translucent and it keeps my brows with nice volume, lift where I want and hold all day. Love this! Glossier. - Cloud Paint Duo in Dusk and Beam were mixed together for a natural-looking, sunkissed flush. I also used excess product from Beam onto my eyelids and there’s been no creasing! This product works well with your fingers or with a foundation brush that has a thick surface area with lots of fibers closely wound together. It spreads so nicely either way- a little goes a long way! ✨I used CLINIQUE - High Impact Lash Elevating Mascara and while my lashes lengthen and become wonderfully defined, I wish the price point were a tad lower. Looking into something less expensive with the same results! ✨I’ve been so tired lately! New schedule and longer work hours. To brighten my eyes, I’ve gotten SEPHORA COLLECTION - 12hr Colorful Contour Eyeliner in their pearlescent off-white color, and I apppied that baby along the inside of my bottom lash line. Makes such a big difference making my eyes look bigger and brighter! On my lips, I’ve got MINERAL FUSION - Sheer Moisture Lip Tint on in Glisten- this lovely neutral peach that totally matches Glossier’s Beam for this nice monochromatic look. My lips feel so hydrated and look plump and healthy! While it does transfer, not a big deal to me at all- it’s a more eco-friendly company that can pack some great ingredients into their products. ✨Lastly, added this beautiful metallic, burnt umber eyeshadow, MEECH N MIA - MEECH N MIA Loose Eyeshadows in Copper, which can be applied SO easily in so many ways! Long-lasting shimmer that looks amazing with so many matte eyeshadow layers underneath. With it being loose, highly encourage finishing spray though! Otherwise, it’s the perfect loose metallic pot shadow. What looks have you been trying out for fall? Let me know in the comments ✨🙌🏼
HOW I FIGHT ACNE WITH MY SKINCARE ROUTINE
Acne comes from so many different reasons. But generally there are a few tricks that really help to prevent and treat them. SALICYLIC ACID: PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator Known for: combating whiteheads & blackheads by penetrating into the pores of the skin and unclogging them This exfoliating toner is amazing at preventing future breakouts because it’s so effective at unclogging pores and keeping them clear. My blackheads have also diminished so much since using this toner and I definitely can’t turn back. It’s quite strong so even I don’t use it every day and night. I’ll take it out only when I feel like my skin is getting congested (around 1-2x a week). AZELAIC ACID: PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster Known for: gently exfoliating the surface and refining texture of the skin This is a great booster to mix in with moisturizer whenever I feel like my skin is breaking out a lot and very congested. It’s not super strong especially mixed into the last step of my skincare routine but definitely helps to smooth texture. RETINOL: SKINCEUTICALS - Retinol 0.5 Retinol Night Cream Known for: speeding up our skin’s natural cell turnover to reveal newer and clearer skin I’ve used a retinol for more than a year now and I’ve seen the biggest improvement in my skin regarding breakouts and texture. I use it as the last step of my skincare routine every other day now and it’s just a great way to keep my skin healthy over the longterm. NIACINAMIDE: THE inkey LIST - Niacinamide Oil Control Serum Known for: helping to control oil production by renewing and restoring the surface of the skin against moisture loss Especially with living in a humid climate currently, my skin has been freaking out a lot. But this serum helps so much with promoting my skin to be balanced and self-regulating. My T-zone doesn’t get as oily but doesn’t feel dry either! SUNSCREEN: SKINCEUTICALS - Physical Fusion Uv Defense SPF 50 Okay sunscreen doesn’t DIRECTLY correlate with breakouts, although, there are definitely some that can cause breakouts for some people, mainly physical ones (so find one that doesn’t break you out)! This sunscreen doesn’t break me out and in fact helps with my skin durinf breakouts so much because it protects my skin from hyperpigmentation! The scarring that comes after a breakout can be just as annoying as the breakout itself but sunscreen helps so much to speed up the recovering and healing process! Do you have more tips for preventing breakouts to share?

Hyperpigmentation, Melasma, PIH, Dark Spots...
Many people struggle with hyperpigmentation, especially those with medium and dark skin tones. So here’s a highly-requested simple routine to help quicken the fading of dark spots from acne, UV damage, and/or melasma. But remember that the best treatment is going to be useless if you don’t wear sunscreen and reapply every two hours! 1. Oil/Balm Cleanser: Makeup/ sunscreen can be hard to remove, so be sure to deep-clean skin with an oil-based cleanser! THE inkey LIST - Oat Cleansing Balm is my fave for the price and quality combo. 2. Foam/Gel/Cream Cleanser: Get off any residual first cleanser and any leftover makeup. Make sure to thoroughly rinse but not use hot water. I’ve been testing CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin right now and love all the CeraVe cleansers for their affordability and gentleness! 3. Vitamin C /Alpha Arbutin: Vitamin C and alpha arbutin both inhibit melanin production- plus vitamin C fights off environmental damage and AA has the added benefit of slowly breaking down into hydroquinone in the skin. Use alone, alternate use, or try the fantastic (and surprisingly gentle) The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% serum. 4. Azelaic Acid: A gentle exfoliant to help short-term with pigmentation while also inhibiting melanin synthesis- plus its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial, helping prevent acne that leads to dark spots. My preferred ingredient for reducing PIH! I love PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster but The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% is popular too! 5. Moisturizer: I prefer simple, nourishing moisturizers- I’m testing CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion (UltraLightweight) right now and enjoy the lightweight but soothing formulation. 6. Sunscreen: UV rays worsen hyperpigmentation, melasma, PIH, dark spots, and uneven tone. Any routine will be pretty much in vain if you’re not applying SPF every day and reapplying every two hours- it’s important for so many reasons related to skin, not including the cancer-prevention aspect. Some favourites of mine are PAULA'S CHOICE - Youth-extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50 and PAULA'S CHOICE - Essential Glow Moisturizer SPF 30 , but I’ve recently tried and enjoy LA ROCHE-POSAY - Anthelios 50 Mineral Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid SPF 50 and LA ROCHE-POSAY - Anthelios 60 Clear Skin Dry Touch Sunscreen SPF 60 . The tinted LRP sunscreen specifically really evens out of my skin tone, but it’s hard to beat how soft PC’s Youth-Extending SPF 50 leaves my face!

Review my routine for... redness 😚😚
My main skin concern is redness (maybe mild rosacea?) on my cheeks and t-zone. It always looks like I am blushing and makes my face feel hot, so it is something I am always trying to solve! The two main redness-reducing products I use are the Niacinamide and EUK 134. The rest of the products I have included here are those that are just gentle and soothing in general. Glossier. - Milky Jelly Cleanser : This cleanser is so gentle on my skin and never leaves my skin feeling tight. It is perfect for my sensitive skin. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% : I was recommended this product by @leena.tabajaand@jane_brownto help even my skin tone! After doing some research, I found out that this is great for getting rid of dark spots, soothing redness AND decongesting pores, so I was sold! I have been using this in combination with the EUK serum for 2-3 weeks, and it has honestly made a world of a difference. I use this product in the morning so that I can still use my Tatcha Violet-C serum at night. Apparently Niacinamide can negate the effects of Vitamin C, so they always need to be used at alternating times. Kate Somerville - Goat Milk Moisturizing Cream : This is a perfect lightweight moisturizer for summertime. It is gentle and gets the job done! COOLA - Full Spectrum 360° Sun Silk Drops Organic Face Sunscreen SPF 30 : Always have to have SPF as part of the routine! This is the one I am currently using. It is lightweight but does have a pretty strong sunscreen smell. But it definitely gets the job done. With sensitive skin like mine, you should always use SPF. TATCHA - Violet-C Brightening Serum 20% Vitamin C + 10% AHA : I use this product at night to help even out my skin tone and give my skin a boost of antioxidants. It is a bit overpriced. I definitely enjoy using it, but definitely won’t repurchase. PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator : Since I have sensitive skin, I need to use a very gentle exfoliant. This leave-on exfoliant always leaves my skin feeling soothed and not stripped. This is a holy grail product that I will purchase again and again! The Ordinary - EUK 134 0.1% : This serum has a long scientific explanation of why it works, but basically it is designed specifically to soothe redness! It feels more like an oil than a serum and burned the first couple of times I used it, but my skin got used to it fairly quickly. Like I mentioned above, I use this at night to go along with my Niacinamide. The two together are really soothing my redness, and these are the only products I have ever used that do. And since they are both by The Ordinary, they are both under $10. So… rate my routine!! 🤗🤗🤗

Top Tips for Treating Hyperpigmentation!
I have combination, oily skin that is prone to breakouts, the breakouts lead to hyperpigmentation which is my biggest skin concern. I've been dealing with hyperpigmentation for what seems like forever and have learned some important tips when it comes to it! Tip #1: Use SPF religiously! For anyone dealing with hyperpigmentation this is the most important tip because the sun's UV rays can cause pigmentation to darken. SPF is also essential because many treatments for hyperpigmentation, like acids, can cause the skin to be even more sensitive to the sun. My top SPFs are: elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 Supergoop! - 100% Mineral Smooth & Poreless Matte Screen SPF 40 SKINCEUTICALS - Physical Fusion Uv Defense SPF 50 Tip #2: Use Vitamin C in your routine! Vitamin C is an antioxidant that lightens dark spots, it also contains an enzyme that helps to prevent melanin production - effectively preventing hyperpigmentation! My Vitamin C products are: SKINCEUTICALS - Phloretin Cf FARMACY - Very Cherry Bright 15% Clean Vitamin C Serum with Acerola Cherry URBAN SKIN Rx - Even Tone Smooth & Glow Enzyme Mask Tip #3: Niacinamide is a powerhouse at fighting pigmentation! Similar to vitamin C, niacinamide fights and prevents hyperpigmentation. It also helps to treat acne which for many of us is the main cause of our hyperpigmentation! My favorite products with niacinamide are: PETER THOMAS ROTH - Pro Strength Niacinamide Discoloration Treatment THE inkey LIST - Niacinamide Oil Control Serum Tip #4: Add a retinoid to your routine! Retinoids speed up the cell turnover rate, which for pigmentation means it helps to fade dark spots faster. I use a tretinoin, which is a prescription you can get from your dermatologist, but there are other great options like retinol! Here are my favorite retinol products: SKINCEUTICALS - Retinol 0.5 Retinol Night Cream DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel Additional Tips: Acid is your friend, but don't overdo it! Protect your moisture barrier! Healthy skin will heal the fastest! If your breakouts are hormonal, you may need to do some research into your diet! I've cut dairy and eggs because my body doesn't tolerate them and they were leading to hormonal breakouts.
