Do’s & Don’t’s of A Sensitive Skin Routine

avatar
Skinsitive
In my opinion, all skin is sensitive- but people with particularly reactive skin have to take extra caution, especially when you have a condition like eczema (hey fam!) and rosacea. Personally, I have combination sensitive skin and eczema, but nowadays my skin is pretty normal. Here’s some tips to follow when building your basic skincare routine... • Don’t: Jump into a ten-step routine. Overwhelming skin with so many products can easily aggravate sensitive skin, while also making it harder to figure out what one is irritating your skin. Take your time. • Do: Iron out the basics! Before introducing serums, make sure to find a cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen combination that gently nourishes skin. Avoid exfoliants in these so that they’re a safe fall-back if your skin starts flaring up. My favourite sensitive skin cleansers are HOLI FROG - Tashmoo Water Lily Nourishing Milky Wash
and PAULA'S CHOICE - RESIST Perfectly Balanced Foaming Cleanser
, as they cleanse without stripping skin of protective oils. My go-to sensitive skin (and all skin) sunscreens are PAULA'S CHOICE - Essential Glow Moisturizer SPF 30
(mineral) and PAULA'S CHOICE - Youth-extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50
(chemical). • Don’t: Use products with fragrance, alcohol, or essential oils. Alcohol is drying and can weaken the skin barrier, your skin’s defense against environmental damage. Fragrance and essential oils not only have a high chance of irritating skin, but also oxidize upon contact with the air, releasing free radicals that break down collagen. Avoid these. • Do: Incorporate antioxidants. Antioxidants battle environmental aggressors, neutralize free radicals, soothe skin, and calm redness. These and a good sunscreen are going to be your best combination for calm, youthful skin! I utilize a couple drops of The Ordinary - Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3%
on mornings I forgo vitamin c, but I also enjoy the silky texture of PAULA'S CHOICE - Retinol Super Antioxidant Serum
for a gentle, moisturizing retinol that is also loaded with antioxidants. • Don’t: Try to smother skin into submission. Piling on layers of the heaviest cream may provide temporary relief, but it can lead to congestion and acne, which will only inflame skin more in the long-term. • Do: Combine fatty acids, ceramides, peptides, and/or hyaluronic acid treatments to repair the skin barrier, promoting moisture retainment in multiple levels. Layering different types of hydration/moisture from thinnest to thickest is better for your skin and will promote healing the root cause versus treating the symptoms. I love combining PAULA'S CHOICE - Resist Anti-Ageing Omega+ Complex Serum
and NIOD - Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Complex
underneath my moisturizer to hydrate + nourish my skin and reduce frequency of my eczema flare-ups.

FINALLY! It’s mine!
This is one brand I’ve been stalking and I’ve finally got my hands on the highly raved, much talked about PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator I’d say what really draws me to this particular brand is its commitment to highly effective, well tested products. I feel they really listen to their customers and value their feedback. Well, imagine my surprise when in pops an email from a Paula’s Choice social media team member asking for my address to send me some products just for being me?!? I couldn’t respond fast enough with a...., “YES!” I’m not sure why I’ve been sleeping on this brand for so long. I follow so many diehard fans that swear and have visual proof of the changes their products have made. I have a feeling it’s all going to change after this... Just a little about PC if you haven’t heard of the brand (taken from the website) : Did you know that the founder, Paula was actually fired from her job working at a cosmetic counter for explaining to a customer what products could and couldn’t do for their skin? (This is what we need more of!! I was immediately drawn to the brand when I first heard about that!) Our Philosophy Science & Truth Highly Effective Formulary Excellence Non-irritating & Fragrance Free Multi-faceted Formulas Cruelty Free Packaged for Potency Environmentally Conscious On the website you can find Skincare Quizzes that can help you develop a Instant Routine or develop a more in-depth Routine at no cost! You can also find Expert Advice Articles on just about any subject you’re curious about. Have a question about ingredients? They have every ingredient known in the beauty industry—-a go-to resource for everyone! Everyone needs to use this! With Paula’s Choice you can choose individual skincare products or you can have an entire skincare routine developed from start to finish! I’ve had on my wishlist, along with the exfoliator I just received, their PAULA'S CHOICE - Resist C15 Super Booster PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster PAULA'S CHOICE - Peptide Booster PAULA'S CHOICE - Anti-Aging Eye Gel Honestly, I want to try it all! I’d probably start swapping out some of the products I currently use for similar items. For instance, I am looking for a replacement vitamin c so I’d trade mine out for theirs. Then the Niacinamide and Hyaluronic and so on. I’m definitely going to do the skincare quiz and see what’s recommended for me! Do you use any Paula’s Choice products? What’s your favorite? Please share! 😘 I’ll be back in a few weeks to tell you what I think of this exfoliator! ❤️🍒

Update!
This is my one month update on my skin. I have been using tretinoin cream every 3 nights & and the clindamycin phosphate lotion morning and night. I then decided to change my skincare routine to a Korean & Japanese skincare, and I’m very happy I made the choice. On December 3rd I went to get a customized facial and my esthetician told me I have acne that is clogged pores underneath my skin, so she did a deep extraction and in another few weeks I’m going to get one more done just to make sure they are all out. FARMACY - Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm I was using the dhc deep cleaning oil but it was too thick for me so I switch to this and it is light and not stripping, good for a oil cleanse or a first cleanse TATCHA - The Rice Wash Skin-Softening Cleanser this cleanser is a nice hydrating cleanser and it does not strip my skin at all Krave - Kale-Lalu-yAHA I just started using this exfoliant but I really like it and I seen results right after I used it Krave - Great Barrier Relief this serum is another I just started using but I love it, and it have a nice smell to it Krave - The Beet Shield this sunscreen does not leave a white cast on my face, and I don’t feel greasy after PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster this products is helping me get rid of my acne marks that I have from my facial PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster I just love this! This is helping with my acne and dark marks dear, klairs - Fundamental Water Gel Cream I have to use a light weight moisturizer so it won’t clog my pores

Superfood SuperYES! 🌿
Talk about a refreshing cleanser! There are so few cleansers on the market that are actually full of ingredients I love and smell good! The scent is so light, crisp, and refreshing it’s like giving your face a salad! The product is a gel that creates a light foam as its lathered and leaves skin feeling fresh and smooth. I have tried other YTTP products and this is now tied with my other number one favorite, the YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi which I use daily. (Special thanks to Cherie for sending me a jar and getting me hooked!) YTTP’s website claims: 🌿Benefits: 🍃Kale: This leafy veg is a must-have for more than just your morning juice. It's rich in skin-loving phytonutrients and vitamins C, E and K. 🍃Spinach: A lightweight skin-soother that boasts a high natural moisture content and cooling properties. 🍃Green Tea: An anti-inflammatory oil packed with essential fatty acids. 🌿Claims: 100% Vegan ingredients Cold-pressed extracts Recyclable packaging Made in USA No animal testing No parabens No phthalates No sulfates The full ingredient list totally passes the checklist on harsh chemical free but it does have added perfume which can be a no-go for some people, especially with sensitive skin. Overall I loved it! Sound off below if you have tried it and don’t like it or are an every day user!! Retails for $36 YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser #CherieCreator

Products Getting Me Through Winter! ❄
Since I can remember I've had oily to combination skin, until this winter. It's been a rough one! My skin has been SO dry, and it's hard to keep up with it. Especially since I'm prone to acne and clogged pores, so I can't use a lot of heavy creams and pore clogging products. These I wouldn't be able to live without this winter! COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence 🐌 I love this essence! This is a Korean product (Korean skin care will always be a hit). And it's made with Snail Mucin, weird right? This contains 96% snail mucin, which has incredible healing and antimicrobial properties. It promotes collagen production and aids in skin regeneration. And it's a top pick for dry skin types because of its amazing ability to hydrate. This has a jelly-like texture and I find myself ALWAYS reaching for this. Most of the claimed benefits do come with time. Another product I'm loving is the DRUNK ELEPHANT - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum 💧This is a serum that came in a DE kit and I really want the full size! This seriously feels like a cold drink of water for your skin. It's lightweight and spreads nicely. It not only has Sodium Hyaluronate, (which is like hyarulonic Acid on steroids) but also Pineapple Ceramide and provitamin B5, an amazing humectant. As well as a lentil/apple/watermelon complex. It's not crazy different from other Hyarulonic Acid serums I've tried, but it's great! I finally got to try the cult favorite DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream . And wow I'm glad I did! This cream does have a few possible pore clogging ingredients so I was afraid to use it, but It's helped my dryness so much! It feels sooo moisturizing and soothing. I love that this is a protein moisturizer that has peptides, growth factors, amino acids, and pygmy waterlily to improve your overall skin health. This is an amazing anti-aging and skin strengthening moisturizer. I love using this it's a great experience. I already reviewed this incredible product, the Glossier. - Balm Dotcom 👄 It's become a staple lip balm for me. It's extremely hydrating and packed with antioxidants and natural emollients. It has Castor Oil, Beeswax, and Lanolin to seal in moisture. It leaves my lips looking sooo hydrated and smooth. It's THE perfect lip balm and I am obsessed. Feel free to comment or ask any questions below 💗

Dare to Go Bare with Glow Screen 💖
Hey Cherie Fam 🍒 Elta MD’s tinted sunscreen was my holy grail for years. What’s not to love? It’s tinted, contains Hyaluronic acid, it protects from UV light/sunlight and it’s fairly cheap ($28). elta md SKINCARE - UV Daily Tinted Broad-Spectrum SPF 40 I received Supergoop’s Glow Screen for Christmas and I’ve been using it obsessively since. I always skipped Supergoop because of the cost and Elta MD works for me. However, not only this sunscreen provides sun protection, it also provides light coverage that makes me glow. This makes me more confident on my no make up days and makes me feel like a highlighter princess! I love how this doesn’t accentuate my large pores or make my face feel super oily. This is also great as a primer and wear under makeup and provides major hydration. I love how this sunsceeen is also coral reef safe! Supergoop! - Glowscreen Sunscreen SPF 40 This product is a bit more pricy ($36) but it’s worth it because I use this as a sunscreen and as a primer. I don’t need to spend more $$$ when I run out of my primer. What is your current skin care holy grail? Xoxo, Francesca 💋

3 Paula Choice Skincare Routines ❄️☃️❄️
Hey guys!!! I love Paulas choice products especially the PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega+ Complex Moisturizer and PAULA'S CHOICE - 0.3% Retinol + 2% Bakuchiol Treatment !! Over on their IG they posted suggested skincare routines created by their client social services consultant Allie, I wanted to repost a few today for dry and dehydrated combo skin since it's cold outside which can often lead to dry/dehydrated skin. Paulas choice is another great brand to reach out to if you have questions!!! Just pick the products in black for an essential routine and include the products labeled in white for a full advanced routine. I do want to point out that there is NO perfect skincare routine, you need to listen to your skin. If you are feeling really dry you might want to add a heavier ceramide moisturizer or if your skin is starting to feel irritated back off on your exfoliation. Use these suggestions as a way to get started but still adjust or take away products by how your skin feels. Do you wish more companies would post suggested skincare routines based on skin type?? #cheriecreator

What is blue light? High energy visible light (HEV) (“blue light), is a type of light emitted from mostly the sun & yeah your electronic devices! It’s a short wavelength, which mean it produces at a higher energy & is visible by the human eye. What’s the damage? Eye damage- premature eye aging. Leads to effects of blindness (overtime) , retina damage, & eye irritation. Premature skin again known as Photo aging: aging caused by light exposure (ranges from UVA,UVB,& HEV lights) causes - hyperpigmentation, premature wrinkles, Disrupts sleep schedule. Everyone has a circadian rhythm (the set cycle of sleeping & waking up), that differs for each person. These lights can cause you to alter that in a negative way. (Proven fact that lack of sleep causes premature aging to). Prevention: SUNSCREEN THAT HAS ALL COVERAGE TULA SKINCARE - Daily Sunscreen Gel Broad Spectrum SPF 30 I love this sunscreen. Rosacea: Liquid Gold Moisturizer Honest Review
stratia - Liquid Gold I was attracted to this moisturizer because one of my favorite sensitive skincare ladies swears by it. It’s an expensive moisturizer for me ($27), but I splurged on this and a few other items for Christmas. Initially, I used it as a moisturizer (2 pumps). I love the packaging, the bright color, the sticky texture, and the olive oil-like smell, but it’s thin and absorbed very quickly into my skin. I found that heat would rise to my face from the lack of moisture and over the course of a few days my skin got a LOT more red and textured. So I started using it as a serum before my moisturizer instead. Although my skin stopped feeling uncomfortable, I did find that it continued to be more textured, redder than usual, and I started breaking out (breakouts are pretty rare for me). I think 2 weeks is a good window of time to try out this product, and I just found that it wasn’t right for my skin. There are no ingredients that would react with my rosacea or sensitive skin more generally, but I think it’s too thin as a moisturizer and there are much better serums out there. It’s likely that the sea buckthorn oil irritated my skin, I don’t know what else it could’ve been! So, based off my experience, this product isn’t worth it to me. My skin looked worse while using it and pretty much immediately cleared up when I removed it from my skincare routine. It’s come to my attention that this reaction could’ve been my skin barrier in the process of repair, but without a derm to walk me through it I wasn’t willing to use it for another week. I’m sticking to my CeraVe PM moisturizer and Leo Oil, and playing with other serums that better target my needs. I’m still giving this moisturizer 3 stars despite my experience because I regifted it to a friend with super sensitive skin and he LOVED it. It’s working really great for him, so chances are it could work for you too! He’s in his early 30s with sensitive combo skin.

Stratia Liquid Gold= pure heaven for the face
I will first start off this review by saying, yes this stuff you’ve seen all over your social media feed does live up to the hype. Little background I bought it because I’m a dry skinned gal and I can always go for a hydrating serum. This has ceramides and rosehip oil in it so I’m like great the more the merrier. Boy was I in for a surprise. A good surprise don’t worry. I did not realize how wacked up my moisture barrier was until I started using this and noticed how soft and nourished my face felt. No matter what guys! Even after wearing a mask for 8 hours my face was no longer dehydrated or has those irritated little bumps on it I always get. But it was soft and smooth like I didn’t even wear a mask for 8 hours. To recap: yes this product is worth it, oh my god is it worth it. If I had to make a list of top 3 skincare products this would be number 1 it’s that good. Dry skinned people use this as a hydrating serum and you will love your skin! Oily or combo you can use this as a moisturizer (which is what it is advertised as) and you will love your skin too! Guys I recommend this for everyone! It’s also cheaper then krave beauty and you get more product! Double score! I highly highly highly recommend this oh my gosh! If there is one thing you need this winter or if there is one thing you want to buy with some Christmas money, buy this! You will not regret it! For this wondering about smell: it smells like rosehip oil because there is no added fragrance so if you don’t mind a bit of a earthy smell for the couple of seconds you smooth it onto your face you’ll be fine.

Combo/Oily Morning Routine and Flash Review
Hi, everyone! I hope your weekend was well :) After doing a quick water cleanse, I went in with hyper - Hyper Clear Brightening Clearing Vitamin C Serum which my skin has been loving! I haven’t had any irritation or breakout, plus I think this helps keep congestion at bay with the added kojic acid and enzymes. It’s super light and anyone with oilier skin will love! EDIBLE BEAUTY - Turmeric Beauty Latte Serum Clear and Brighten this is a new find that I just started using, so haven’t quite formed an opinion yet. It’s supposed to act as a non-active clarifying serum, which is exactly something I need, especially during the day. It’s has a light, watery texture, def smells a bit like turmeric, but so far it’s great! NIOD - Modulating Glucosides this is my new love! After going through a bout of sensitive and red skin once the weather started changing, once I included this into my routine (mostly apply to my cheeks and forehead), I’ve noticed my skin is significant calmer. It’s also great as a light moisturizer for oily skin in the morning! KEEP COOL - Soothe Bamboo Sun Essence SPF50+ another new LOVE! Might be my holy grail sunscreen, seriously. The only way to describe it is if Purito Comfy Water and Purito Centella had a baby, meaning it should work beautifully for both drier and oilier skin types. It leaves a satin finish, no greasiness throughout the day and is super pleasant to reapply!

The Ordinary and NIOD: Worth the hype?🤔
We all concern one problem when choosing skincare or cosmetic products: is this famous product really worthy to buy? Sometimes there are many advertising invested from beauty company so that we can see their products on TV, or newspaper or even YouTube. But for brands like The Ordinary and Neutrogena, we still know there are a lot of ‘soft’ ads on the Internet. Are they really worthy to buy?   The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 This is definitely the most famous product it has created. Now every brand has its own hyaluronic acid serum and this is one of the cheapest and works for so many people. It contains hyaluronic acid to make skin smooth and supple and Vitamin B5 to boost skin renewal and healing. For a water-based serum, this one is light and thick and doesn’t have a strange smell at all. I have tried this for a week and, to be honest,  I abandoned it right after this torturing week. My face says no to it; it feels nice on hand but not on the face. It dries quickly on my face and my T-zone becomes more oily than ever. This is not my cup of tea and I have to say that it is really cheap without any fancy promotion, ask for a sample before purchasing it.    NIOD - Modulating Glucosides I went online and bought this emulsion from NIOD’s core regimen series. NIOD and The Ordinary are from the same company and this one is definitely more pricy than most products from The Ordinary. This is an emulsion that can soothe sensitive and flakier skin caused by retinol and calm down the skin with redness. It is said that it can boost the production of collagen and new blood vessels to make skin look younger and more even. It went viral for a while online and I have to say that it needs to be famous that much. My face is no itchier after using retinol and my acne scars got lighter. It was on discount when I bought it and 20 dollars is way too good for this amazing product. Really recommend this one. 👍

Ingredients to Build your Routine Around
I am 35 years old with two kids. I have dry / normal skin. My top concerns are fine lines & wrinkles, preventing aging, dullness, and dark circles. When I started my skincare routine, all I knew was that I started to notice fine lines & wrinkles and wanted to buy new products for “anti-aging”. After a lot of research, here are my Top 5 Ingredients with proven benefits for 30s Skin: 1. Retinol Retinol is a powerhouse for wrinkles. It is a synthetic derivative of Vitamin A. It alters the behaviour of aged skin cells. It smooths skin texture, enhances radiance and treats aging. Retinol can be irritating to skin, so build up your tolerance gradually starting with a lower percentage and only 1-2 days per week. DRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni Retinol Cream Murad - Ready, Radiant, Retinol SKINCEUTICALS - Retinol 0.3 SUNDAY RILEY - Luna Sleeping Night Oil If you need an alternative to retinol because you have sensitive skin or you are pregnant or breastfeeding, bakuchiol is a good plant-based all natural alternative to retinol or rosehip oil is high in Vitamin A. HERBIVORE - Bakuchiol Anti-Aging Serum BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Phyto-Retinol Serum The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil 2. Vitamin C A potent antioxidant that helps reduce skin inflammation, irregular pigmentation, and promotes healthier collagen production. It neutralizes free radical damage and great for AM routine. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Time to Wake Up Duo SUNDAY RILEY - CEO 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum VERSED - STROKE OF BRILLIANCE Brightening Serum 3. Exfoliate / AHAs Exfoliation is about boosting cell turnover. You should do it twice a week. Use different acids like lactic acid and glycolic acid. Build up a tolerance. You can use toners, serums, or creams. Kate Somerville - Liquid ExfoliKate Triple Acid Resurfacing Treatment SUNDAY RILEY - Good Genes All in One Lactic Acid Treatment The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA FARMACY - Honeymoon Glow Serum 4. Peptides Peptides preserve and boost collagen production. Peptides are short chain amino acids that act as building blocks for proteins such as collagen. It improves the appearance of firmness and wrinkles. Extensive research supports that peptides improve skin function and appearance. The Ordinary - ''Buffet'' OLAY - Wrinkle Correction Serum with Vitamin B3+ Collagen Peptides PAULA'S CHOICE - Peptide Booster 5. Hydration In your 30s your skin tends to get dehydrated. Hydration will plump up skin. Add a hydrating toner, facial spray, hyaluronic acid serum. The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 **BONUS** SPF Never forget you sunscreen ☀️

Skincare 101: Double-Cleansing
Bar soaps and scrubs have been phased out of popularity, replaced with cleansers that use gentler sulfates than potentially-problematic SLS/SLES and double-cleansing has seen a rise. Grime, layers of sunscreen, heavy makeup... I recommend double-cleansing if you apply more than one layer of sunscreen or wear makeup, it’s helped so much with my own congestion/blackheads! Wash twice with a water-based cleanser if you prefer to be utilitarian, or try a micellar water if you don’t like oil textures. • 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗲: For me, traditional double-cleansing is the way to go. Oil-based cleansers easily break down stubborn makeup like waterproof mascara and I’m careful to avoid sensitizing essential oils. My top pick for quality to quantity to cost? THE inkey LIST - Oat Cleansing Balm . $10 for 150mL of a sensitive skin-friendly balm is hard to beat! Another good budget option is The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser , $7.90 for 50mL or $19.90 for 150mL. Its thick texture takes a bit more work to emulsify and rinse away, but gets the job done. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser is a great balm that I love for its easy emulsification and quick rinse, though it’s a bit more pricy- $34 for 110g. Harder to swallow the cost when you rinse it after just a minute of it on your skin, but it emulsifies so well and rinses clean easily. HOLI FROG - Kissimmee Vitamin F Therapy Balmy Wash is also kinda pricy, $42 for 74mL. It is hard to emulsify, but leaves my skin as soft as if I had moisturized after rinsing, making it luscious but hard to justify. • 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗲: For my 2nd Cleanse, I reach for a water-based cleanser with a pH of 4-7 and hydrating humectants. I avoid essential oils and fragrance. My absolute favourite 2nd Cleanse is rPAULA'S CHOICE - RESIST Perfectly Balanced Foaming Cleanser ($19 per 190mL, pH 6.2-7), a silky cream-to-foam that removes any 1st Cleanse residue without stripping skin. Another gentle and effective cleanser is the HOLI FROG - Superior Omega Nutritive Gel Wash ($36 per 150mL, pH 5.5). Both are great for any skin type, esp. drier skin! Oily/combo skin types will enjoy the deep-cleansing, strongly lathering gels of rCeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin ($11 per 355mL, pH 5.5) and #Drunk Elephant - Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser[products]#[FourStars] ($32 per 150mL, pH 5.5). I wouldn’t use them more than once per day since they can leave skin feeling tight if overused. How To Use A Balm Cleanser: 1. Dispense balm onto dry, clean palms. 2. Massage balm onto dry, uncleansed skin, for as long as you like. I wouldn’t go over a minute since you’ll be massaging your skin more in a sec... 3. Wet hands. 4. Emulsify the product on your face using a small amount of water, massaging until it is almost like a lather. 5. Rinse face. 6. Repeat steps 4 + 5 until your face feels clean and soft, with no visible milkiness/lather.

Skincare 101: the Basics
Three products are all you really need to care for your skin. Well, maybe not *you* specifically, but let’s be frank: most people don’t *need* a twelve-step routine to take care of their skin. If you’re starting off in skincare, your financial situation has changed, or your skin has been flaring with redness/flaking/breakouts, opt for a super simple routine for a month or two to see how your skin does without the extra frills. It may surprise you how little you need to keep your skin happy! • 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿: Cleanse with water in the morning, or opt for a hydrating cleanser if you’re oily, workout, or just enjoy cleansing often. Double-cleanse with that hydrating cleanser (and/or an oil-based balm) in the evening, or opt for a single cleanse with a gel or foaming cleanser. My milky faves are CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser and HOLI FROG - Tashmoo Water Lily Nourishing Milky Wash , while my deep-cleansing faves are CeraVe - Hydrating Cream-To-Foam Cleanser and PAULA'S CHOICE - RESIST Perfectly Balanced Foaming Cleanser . • 𝗠𝗼𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗿: Moisturize morning and night, regardless of your skin type! Look for products with ceramides and fatty acids to nourish the skin barrier. If your skin is more oily, opt for lightweight moisturizers like gels and lotions. If your skin is dry, creams and balms are going to be better for binding hydration and moisture to your skin. My faves for oily skin? CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion , VERSED - DEW POINT Moisturizing Gel-Cream , and PAULA'S CHOICE - Probiotic Nutrient Moisturizer . My dry skin faves are NATURIUM - Plant Ceramide Rich Moisture Cream , THE inkey LIST - Peptide Moisturizer , and DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream . • 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻: The most important step! Sunscreen is the ultimate anti-aging product, so reapply every two hours y’all. My main loves for all skin types are PAULA'S CHOICE - Youth-extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50 and elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 . Those with dry skin, I’ve been enjoying CeraVe - Face Sheer Tint Hydrating Sunscreen SPF 30 , though paler folks may prefer DRUNK ELEPHANT - Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30 . What’s your fave step? What extra step would you add in that’s not featured here? 👀 Keep up with the tag #Skincare101 to follow along this guide I’ll be posting to cover some basic concepts in skincare!

Cream serum to the rescue!
This serum is filled with Omega fatty acids, with this serum it helps toughen up the skin's barrier with essential nutrients needed for healthy, stronger and glowing skin. This has been one of my first serums when I started with skincare! It's has a white creamy gel type texture which feels so good on my skin. 🥺

AM Routine: Anti-Aging, Brightening, Soothing
My 𝗔𝗠 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 has gotten longer since the beginning of quarantine and I have been seeing A LOT of -surprisingly rapid- hyperpigmentation improvement as well as overall brightness and evenness to my complexion since altering it. I rotate use of the various products, trying to give my sensitive combination skin rests here and there 🗓 • Daily: Omega+ Complex Serum, Barrier Repair Moisturizer with 0.1% Retinol, Youth-Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid with 50 SPF; B-Hydra™ Intensive Hydration Serum. • 4-5 Days per Week: 10% Azelaic Acid Booster; Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%; C-Tango™ Multivitamin Eye Cream. • 2-3 Days per Week: A-Passioni™ Retinol Cream. I am surprised by how gentle the 10% Azelaic Acid Booster and Barrier Repair Moisturizer are. I introduced them to my routine and saw such immediate results that I skipped my usual wait time and used them again the next day- with zero irritation. I waited a day, then used them both again- still no irritation! I don’t use the Booster daily, more for my wallet’s sake than for my skin’s, but I find it to be the perfect gentle AM exfoliant.

The ordinary
These are the ordinary products I use in my routine so far..... The Ordinary - Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% I sometimes use this as extra antioxidant protection after my morning routine. I don’t notice that much of a difference with my skin but it can’t hurt and I like the texture and feel it leaves on my skin. The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil I use this every night after my night cream for extra moisture and to help with acne scarring. I’ve heard it helps so much with scarring. I’m also adding The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%to my routine soon to help with scarring and hyperpigmentation as well. I love the rosehip oil for extra moisture and my skin feels so smooth in the morning. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution I use this twice a week and I’ve been faithfully using it for 3 months and I’m just now seeing a difference. I almost gave up but everyone has sworn by this so I thought it couldn’t hurt to stick with it. It tingles and I used to leave it on for the full 10 min and now with the extra acne products I’m using my skin is a little more sensitive so I leave it on for 5-6 minutes. Definitely wake up with baby smooth skin the next morning. I’m hoping to see results with my old acne scars too.

AM Routine
This is my go to AM routine to help my oily and acne prone skin as well as dark spots and acne scars insta natural - Deluxe Glycolic Cleanser I use this every morning to help with acne, aging and help the texture of my skin and I love it! Also helps my pores stay clean and clear. insta natural - Zinc Vitamin C Serum insta natural - Age Defying & Skin Clearing Serum insta natural - Skin Brightening Serum, Anti-Aging I use these serums next as my dose of Vitamin C, salicylic acid and alpha arbutin to control oil and combat acne and fade any scarring. insta natural - Age Defying & Skin Clearing Moisturizer and ARBONNE Overnight prep work jelly are my go to morning moisturizers for a light and airy yet moisturizing end to my routine. The Ordinary - Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% I usually put this on a few days a week for an antioxidant boost too to fight radicals but I don’t always put it on. I like the consistency but don’t notice much of an impact.

My Favourite Anti-Aging Products
“Anti-aging” is pretty much a marketing term. The only things that are going to have drastic results on deep wrinkles are office-only, like Botox and filler. But the best way to fight visible signs of aging is to prevent them and slow their arrival. • Sunscreen: There is legitimately not a single better way to protect your skin’s youth- and health! Sunscreen is so, so important, as windows do not block the aging UV rays and more studies show blue light from electronics also damages unprotected skin. UV rays not only cause/worsen wrinkles and fine lines, but also dark spots. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30 is wonderful for dry skin (and/or winter use) and PAULA'S CHOICE - Youth-extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50 is amazing for all skin types and those who wear makeup. • Retinol: 0.1% Tretinoin is the strongest retinoid you’re going to find and likely the best for fighting signs of aging- but for prevention, everyone probably doesn’t need that kind of strength. If you want to avoid a prescription, look to retinols, available in up to 1.0% concentration. Retinol increases collagen + elastin production and stimulates skin renewal, via increasing cell turnover. This helps to fade dark spots, improve plumpness, and lessen fine lines- plus it’s known to be helpful for some acne cases. I have been enjoying the gentleness of PAULA'S CHOICE - 0.3% Retinol + 2% Bakuchiol Treatment combined with PAULA'S CHOICE - Retinol Super Antioxidant Serum (0.1% Retinol). I would recommend them for all skin types, though dry skin may appreciate The Ordinary - Retinol 1% in Squalane or another concentration. • Antioxidants: Antioxidants protect skin from environmental aggressors, like pollution and oxidative damage from free radicals. They soothe skin, help prevent fine lines, and can brighten skin, vitamin c being the most popular and well-known. DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum is a fantastic 15% l-ascorbic acid serum that lightens hyperpigmentation and dark spots significantly, but my sensitive skin prefers The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%

MY EXPERIENCE W THE INKEY LIST PRODUCTS
THE inkey LIST - Rosehip Oil Purchased this because I was looking for an oil to help my skin look and feel more hydrated & possibly reduce scarring esp now that it’s getting colder out. Rose hip oil is rich in essential fatty acids and antioxidants which are so important for cell regeneration. This product sinks quickly into the skin, doesn’t clog my pores AT ALL, and gives my skin a healthy glow. I use it as a part of my nightly skincare routine in place of a cream moisturizer right now. I’m always hesitant to try new oils as I have sensitive skin and worry they’ll cause me to break out but this oil has done everything I need it to do for my skin. Very happy w this purchase. 5/5 THE inkey LIST - Hyaluronic Acid Serum Hyalauronic acid has the capacity to retain large amounts of water giving it the ability to draw moisture into the skin. It is known for helping to reduce fine lines/wrinkles and help with dryness. I honestly purchased it thinking it would help with the overall hydration of my skin. The first time I used it my forehead broke out so much which was an immediate red flag for me-I never break out there. I thought maybe it was a purging phase, so I continued to use it for a few days but my skin got progressively worse. My skin was patchy and red. It had the exact opposite affect on my skin as what it is supposed to. Once I stopped using it my face calmed down right away. My sister had the same exact experience with this, so it’s not just me! Won’t be using it again. This is the worst experience I’ve had with a skincare product in years. Of course everyone’s skin is different so it might work wonders for others. There are so many other products out there to help w hydration & fine lines so I’m not too upset but I was very taken aback by how much it affected my skin.

Are Essential Oils SAFE for your skin?
Essential oils have become very popular not only in the health and wellness world, but also in beauty and skincare. Extracting oils involves harvesting various plants, then taking them through a process of distillation or cold pressing. We use these oils for the natural, uplifting or calming benefits they give us through aromatherapy. It turns out that it may also have positive effects when applied topically, not just through inhalation. ☆How essential oils are used in skincare- When it comes to any essential oil, they absolutely must be diluted before being touched to the skin. The pure form is entirely too strong! Popular ways of dilution include using jojoba oil, almond oil, sunflower oil, or coconut oil. If you are mixing pure essential oils at home, be sure to follow guidelines to ensure no burning or irriation occurs to the skin. Many skincare products include essential oils in the formula, which are already properly diluted and can be used straight on the face. Common essential oils all have various effects to the skin including antibacterial, anti inflammatory, balancing/controlling oil production and increasing hydration. ☆Why you need to be careful Many people with sensitive skin may be hesitant to use products that contain essential oils in their routine. Because of how strong they can be (and the fragrance), it can definitely exacerbate irritation depending on the formulation. Certain oils are also more prone to causing sensitivity than others, like lemon or peppermint. If you have issues with fragrance, then I would avoid essential oils in your routine. However, for sensitive skin, you can try incorporating lavender or frankincense for their calming properties. ☆My favorites There are so many benefits to essential oils that should be recognized as well! Blue tansy is one of my favorites for antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties. It is also widely known to improve breakouts and acne prone skin. ACURE - Seriously Soothing Blue Tansy Night Oil I also enjoy incorporating jasmine essential oil because of its calming scent, deep hydration, and how it improves elasticity. HERBIVORE - Jasmine Glowing Hydration Body Oil •I recently worked at an Aveda Spa, performing ayurvedic facial treatments. The facial skincare line incorporates many essential oils into the take home products as well as the professional only line. An important step to all Aveda facials was incorporating the aromatherapy ritual, which allows a few drops of an essential oil blend to be mixed with a carrier oil to be used on the skin throughout the facial. There were different lines for all skin types and conditions, which worked to improve the skin while healing the mind and soul through aromatherapy. I learned through this how beneficial essential oils can be for so many people! *exercise caution when trying any fragrant essential oil in your routine, and be sure to speak with a medical professional if you are pregnant.*

Milky Cleanser Battle: Which Is Worth It?
I love a milky, gentle cleanser for post-gym cleansing! I normally opt for the CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser since it’s affordable and works well for my sensitive skin, but I wanted to compare two “aesthetic” brands for those that are willing to pay extra for packaging! My Skin: Combo, Sensitive; Acne, Eczema. Prices, in USD: • Glossier. - Milky Jelly Cleanser x: $18 per 6 fl oz, or $0.10 per mL • HOLI FROG - Tashmoo Water Lily Nourishing Milky Wash : $38 USD per 5 fl oz, $0.26 per mL. Scent/Texture: • Milky Jelly: Strong floral scent, took a minute or so to fade after rinsing. A viscous gel with minimal lather. • Milky Wash: Faint chemical scent, fades immediately upon rinsing. A silky, thin lotion that works into a velvety almost-lather. Notable Ingredients: • Milky Jelly: Rosa Damascena Flower Water (potentially irritating, has some antioxidant compounds but also volatile fragrance compounds), Humectants, Allantoin (soothing), Comfrey Root Extract (soothing). • Milky Wash: Humectants, Sunflower Seed Oil (emollient), Aloe (soothing), Apricot Kernel Oil (emollient), Amino Acids (hydrating, skin-replenishing), Water Lily Root Extract (soothing), Lotus Flower Extract (soothing, antioxidant), Spiruluna Extract (antioxidant), Tocopherol (vitamin E, antioxidant). Verdict: • Milky Jelly: It feels like Glossier was trying to make a first and second cleanse hybrid and it does neither particularly well. I felt like I had to aggressively rub to remove it completely after my first cleanse. My skin was left itchy and a bit red after a couple days of use, likely due to my sensitivity to fragrant ingredients like rose water. I just didn’t like this cleanser at all- the only redeeming factor was that it didn’t dry my skin like some harsh cleansers. Not Worth It. • Milky Wash: This is my favourite low-lather cleanser, period. Don’t expect it to take off your makeup and sunscreen, though, as this is supremely gentle, and oily skin may not appreciate how moisturizing it is. The texture is silky and spreads beautifully, it conditions skin wonderfully, and it rinses off with ease. It leaves skin soft and clean without any irritation, and is especially gentle during my eczema flare-ups. The price is it’s only negative, but I consider it 100% Worth It if you are looking to splurge on a gorgeous and gentle hydrating cleanser! #CheriePartner

Hydrating and antioxidant morning routine
I am an avid skincare lover and I love trying out new products. I have dry and acne prone skin which means it has been lots of trial and error to find what works for my seemingly contradictory skin. This trial has led to my interest in skincare so I have developed several routines that work for me depending on the season, how my skin feels and my mood. This is one of my morning routines with products I have used extensively. I call this my hydrating and antioxidant routine and i use this routine year round. Glossier. - Milky Jelly Cleanser This is my favourite morning cleanser as it doesn’t strip my skin. FRUDIA - Pomegranate Nutri-Moisturizing Toner this is a great toner/essence hybrid that is deeply moisturizing and it preps my skin for my next steps. The Ordinary - Argireline Solution 10% i have used several bottles and it is a light serum that helps reduce dynamic lines. THE inkey LIST - Q10 Antioxidant Serum this is a light cream antioxidant that makes my face feel so soft. VERSED - ZERO-G Smoothing Eye Cream I enjoy this light cream as it hydrated my eye area it has a tint and shimmer to lighten the appearance of the area. Aveeno - Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 this has been my go to moisturizer/spf for days I am staying inside. Or On days that I do go out I wear a separate moisturizer and spf such as THE inkey LIST - Turmeric Brightening Moisturizer this is an antioxidant, brightening moisture though it can be thick PAULA'S CHOICE - Youth-Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid I love this sun screen as it is super light and spreadable

Which Paula’s Choice SPF is right for you?
NOTE 1: this does not include every single SPF from Paula’s Choice. This is simply the SPFs that I own from them. NOTE 2: By posting this, I do not condone the past racist actions by Paula’s Choice and their lack of shades for medium and dark skin tones. My skin type is sensitive combination dry and acne prone. Review: Hello!! I thought today I would take you through the different textures and my thoughts on these Paula’s Choice Sunscreens. I own 3 different formulas at the moment, and I like them all but for different reasons. 1. Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense SPF 30 (mineral formula): PAULA'S CHOICE - Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense SPF 30 Target: combination, normal/oily skin. Purpose: Sun Protection & anti-aging. Texture: thick, somewhat mattifies the skin, leaves a light tint to the skin (not for medium or dark skin tones). Reapplies very nicely. No sunscreen scent. Includes the antioxidant resveratrol (anti aging and skin healing). I have dry skin, but I combat this formula’s matte effect by applying this after I apply a facial oil in my AM routine. It’s $33 for 2oz. I’d recommend this if you have oily skin for daily use. My rating is 4/5 because I wish they offered this for medium and dark skin tones. 2. Youth-Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50 (chemical formula)PAULA'S CHOICE - Youth-Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid Target: normal, combination skin. Purpose: sun protection + anti-aging. Texture: incredibly lightweight/watery formula, no tint or white cast. Dewier finish. Reapplies without any issues. Light sunscreen scent. Includes “soothing plant extracts.” I have to use this after a pretty basic routine—chemical sunscreens often irritate my skin so that means no other actives are allowed in my AM routine. It’s $33 for 2oz. I’d recommend this for all skin types, except super sensitive. My rating is 4/5 because the chemical formula forces me to have a basic AM routine. 3. Ultra-Light Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 30+ (chemical formula): PAULA'S CHOICE - Ultra-Light Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 30+ Target: blemish-prone skin. Purpose: sun protection + minimize pores. Texture: super lightweight (similar to the youth-extending), no tint or white cast left behind. Dewier finish. Reapplies magically! More heavy sunscreen scent. It’s a basic formula so it doesn’t irritate or cause breakouts for sensitive skin. This allows me to use my usual AM routine, no burning even though it’s a chemical formula. It’s $33 for 2oz. I’d recommend this for all skin types, but especially acne-prone and/or sensitive! My rating is 4/5 because of the heavy sunscreen scent! Long story short: I really like these formulas but all for different reasons. Have you tried any of these? What are your thoughts? #CheriePartner

First skin care routine ever...
I was the naturalist, I made my own face wash for over 5 years (honey, coconut oil, tea tree oil, apple cider vinegar) and didn't mind it... but I'm rounding my mid 30's now and really wanted something to help slow down the formation of wrinkles. I decided to start where most people do, with products from "the ordinary". They're cheap and there's so many to try! I bought The Ordinary - ''Buffet'' The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 as per reccomendation from the DECIEM specialists, and friends, and started using one each morning, in rotation. After a few weeks I added a moisturizer PAULA'S CHOICE - Probiotic Nutrient Moisturizerand a sunscreen PAULA'S CHOICE - Youth-extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50 because my skin was feeling and looking parched. I actually had worse texture and wrinkles! I noticed right away on the days I used buffet at night I would have more pronounced closed comodones. So after 4 weeks I stopped using this product. Right away I noticed improved skin colour with hyaluronic acid, so thought this might be a keeper, but I noticed my skin was getting drier and more wrinkly because of it, rather than plump, even after adding a moisturizer and sunscreen. A big indicator was my lips that were dry and peeling every day for those weeks. Finally I didn't really see much improvement with the Niacinamide. Overall I kept with these products (minus buffet) for over 2 months, and saw minimal improvement, many more blackheads on my face, and closed comodones that weren't going away. The real difference was when I stopped using these products just a few days ago and switched to PAULA'S CHOICE - Resist C15 Super Boosterin the morning, and PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator every other night (along with the same moisturizer and spf in the day) The closed comodones? Almost gone! And no new blackheads. Also my lips are back to their usual plump self. I think the buildup of too many products on my skin was causing it to actually become more clogged, with products that are supposed to be unclogging. I'll keep you updated on my beauty routine, as I've ordered 2 different moisturizers for day and night... but for now this is where I've switched to.

My Current Extra AF Morning Routine✨
A lot of products, I know. But I’ve found a routine that works for me! I currently alternate days between PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster and The Ordinary - Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% but everything else I’ve been using daily. Why do I use two moisturizers? Let me explain. When I first started my skincare journey, I was battling a pretty persistent case of fungal acne on my forehead. It wasn’t until I stopped using an oil cleanser and switched moisturizers that the acne stopped. I’ve found that FIRST AID BEAUTY - Hello FAB Coconut Water Cream helps keep my forehead hydrated without causing it to get too oily, which had been part of the problem. It also is free of many of the esters and omega fatty acids that can normally trigger fungal acne breakouts. Why not use it on my whole face then? Well, I’ve got combo skin, and my cheeks tend to dry up pretty quick. I’m obsessed with the texture of DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream and it’s been my favorite ever since I received a sample from Sephora about a year ago. I honestly couldn’t bear the thought of saying goodbye. Currently been testing out the COSRX - Low PH Good Morning Gel Cleanser because I ran out of my all time favorite YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser and I’ve got a lot of thoughts. Post coming soon. Hope you’re all having a good Monday and surviving all the bullish*t🌈 If you need a friend, I’m here! Let’s remember to be good to one another (and ourselves) through this!!!

My skincare routine for DRY SKIN
My skincare routine for DRY SKIN
So I have dry skin and it is a bit sensitive and I found that these products worked best for me. I apply it in such order 1) Cleanser 2) Toner 3) Serum/Booster 4) Moisturizer 5) Sunscreen (AM only) For the cleanser LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Dermo-Cleanser I really enjoyed it. It did wonders for my dry skin. It has a creamy milky consistency that doesn’t lather ensuring that your skin isn’t overly stripped. I would also recommend this product if you have sensitive skin because it has 8 ingredients! For sensitive skin it is better to use less ingredients to ensure that your skin doesn’t get irritated. I would compare the consistency to CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser. Next I use a toner. FARMACY - Deep Sweep The only reason I actually use it is because of the BHA. I found it to not be irritating and my skin didn’t have a tingling feeling either. Since I do have dry skin I don’t use it all over my face. I only use it on my chin for whiteheads and on my nose for blackheads. Another plus is that this toner is alcohol free! After that I use a serum/booster. VERSED - HYDRATION STATION Booster With HA This booster is really good and I didn’t find it to be sticky as others might say. It has a lightweight consistency and almost feels like there isn’t anything on your face. After I apply this booster my skin feels really soft and hydrated which is a must for dry skin. Hyaluronic acid offers those benefits. The moisturizer I use is the HONEST - The Daily Calm Lightweight Moisturizer When I found out that Honest Beauty came out with this formula I was impressed because they usually use fragrances (essential oils) in their products. I decided to give it a try because it is fragrance free. However, it had a noticeable scent to it that wasn’t pleasant. Yes it is fragrance free but it just has a noticeable “lotion” type smell that you can smell all day. Besides that one problem I have no complaints. (If you have moisturizer suggestions for dry skin please let me know) Finally I use sunscreen. BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Zinc Sheer Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 PA +++ This right here is one of the only sunscreens with zinc oxide that doesn’t leave a white cast. Sunscreen is an essential part of your skincare routine no matter what your skin tone is. You should definitely be using one especially if you exfoliate. It feels like there is nothing on your face. I definitely recommend this one!!

I started this routine using FARMACY - Green Clean Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm to remove the days makeup and sunscreen. I double cleansed with YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser It’s a gentle gel cleanser that smells amazing and washes away the days dirt and grime, leaving my skin feeling soft and hydrated, never tight or dry. Next a spritz or two of Allies of Skin - Molecular Saviour Probiotics Repair Mist It’s a refreshing facial mist that leaves my skin nice and moist and ready for my choice of a nightly serum. DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum sloughs off dead skin cells as I sleep and leaves my skin and texture feeling so soft and smooth. I like to mix a few drops of DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil to it and then apply. The last step is a good moisturizer. I like a moisturizer that is nourishing but not too heavy and I prefer them unscented. The PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega+ Complex Moisturizer fits the bill and finishes off my nighttime skincare routine nicely. Some nights I may use an overnight mask. Right now my favorites are YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask and SUMMER FRIDAYS - Jet Lag Mask Off to dreamland and ready to wake up with radiant glowing skin.🌛✨

My Retinol Routine
My Retinol Routine
I introduced retinol into my routine for the first time a little over a month ago. I use it 2 nights a week and when I do, this is my routine: 1 - Cleanser: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser my go to cleanser every day, twice a day! It has a gel texture, ‘green drink’ smell, and leaves my face clean but never stripped 2 - Serums: Glossier. - Super Bounce Hyaluronic Acid + Vitamin B5 Serum and Sweet CHEF - Beet + Vitamin A Serum Shot sweet chef’s beet serum has a cool gel-like texture and a beautiful pinkish red color. I want to give it another few weeks of use before I do a full review, but so far, I am impressed and have seen a noticeable improvement in skin tone, especially on my cheeks! Because retinol can be drying, Ive been pairing it with Super Bounce, glossiers HA serum to boost hydration. I’m almost through the bottle and have really enjoyed super bounce on the days I’m feeling a little dehydrated. 3 - Eye Cream: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Hydrate + Firm Peptide Eye Cream luxuriously thick eye cream that sinks in fast and is amazing for maintaining hydration around my eyes - I use this every night! 4 - Moisturizer: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi yttp’s adaptogen cream is deeply soothing and hydrating so it’s the perfect pairing to combat the irritating and drying effects of retinol 5 - Face Oil: 10 DEGREES COOLER - 03 MIDNIGHT IN CORSICA FACE OIL I will do a full review on this oil soon, but I love it and use it most nights! It’s an herbal smelling blend of oils (first ingredient is marula) and is a bit on the heavier side. It does an unbelievable job of locking the rest of my routine in for the night! What do you think of my retinol routine? What are your favorite ingredients or products to use alongside retinol? I’m still figuring out the best way to have it in my routine (particularly because I like to use acids on other nights and don’t want to overdo it!) so would love to hear what has worked for you!

😎Complete skincare routine fo
😎Complete skincare routine for under $100 USD 😎. I wanted to put together an affordable starter skincare routine for someone with my skin type - acne prone/hormonal/sensitive. Truthfully I think this would work for almost anyone 😊 Here are my recommendations; 1. Double cleansing is essential. I chose this Cerave Hydrating Cleanser because it’s versatile and you can use it to remove makeup/spf and you can use it as your second cleanser too. You can also use this in the am. It’s super gentle and versatile. $15.99 CAD from Shoppers Drug Mart. 2. I’m obsessed with the Mad Hippie Vitamin C serum for the morning. It’s super gentle, lightweight, brightening and gives you some nice antioxidants to defend against pollution throughout the day. $36.99 CAD on iherb 3. Acne prone/sensitive skin needs moisture! You want to make sure your skin barrier is healthy to heal up any irritation or breakouts. Bioderma Sensibio Light Soothing Cream - I chose this over the FAB Barriair that I am obsessed with because of the price point ($24.90 vs. $37), but truthfully the FAB could possibly be a better value since the Sensibio doesn’t seem to last all that long. Both are great options though.

Review My Nighttime Routine 🌙
Review My Nighttime Routine 🌙
✨ I have sensitive combination skin that is acne-prone and I also get hormonal breakouts. My skin doesn’t love fragrance and also really benefits from consistency. 🍉At night, I double cleanse to remove make-up, dirt, SPF and impurities. I typically use Farmacy’s Very Cherry Clean balm and Krave Beauty’s Matcha Hemp Cleanser which are gentle and packed with perks from Vitamin C to antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. 🍊After that, I use an eye cream. Lately, I’ve been using my mini Jet Lag mask for this purpose and love it. I find this mask to be so multifunctional and really hydrating. Sometimes I’ll use it as a nighttime moisturizer too but not tonight. 🍋Although it varies depending on the night and need that day of my skin, last night I went in with a retinol once my skin was drier after washing rather than keeping it wet for a different serum like HA, etc. I don’t adore this retinol and have a new one coming from Allies of Skin but this does a good job with cell turnover despite the questionably long ingredient list and questionable customer service/behavior of the brand. 🍏After that, I used this moisturizer by Farmacy which I wasn’t in love with at first but it is growing on me, especially for summertime where I want a bit of a lighter finish compared to some of my winter nighttime moisturizers. 🍇Then to lock everything in, I use this gorgeous oil by Leah Skin. This is an oil that actually can be paired with retinol according to the brand owner because it is a stable form of Vitamin C which is super cool. 🌈 I like this routine quite a lot minus the retinol although it does the job for now. What do you think?
