❎ Pills, pills & pills some more!

About me: 44 yrs old, brunette, light-med & combination skin type (oily t-zone/dry face), dark spots (from sun), dark under eye & bags. I was looking for a little more moisture in my am/pm routine with added brightening benefits. that's why The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%
came into thought. This has a creamy texture that absorbed quickly over top the water base serums that I use. I grabbed for the rosehip seed oil to seal in the moisture and OH MY!! The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%
pilled up alllll over my face! I was so excited when I purchased this product because of its moisturizing and brightening benefits but... Its getting returned with an F as a grade! I gave it 2 stars for its nice texture and because its fragrance free. pros: thick, creamy texture, fragrance free, spreads nicely cons: pills on skin when layering anything over top. A major FOUL!

sbroadbentI started using Curology last year and my mix included Azelaic acid but curology was just too expensive for me so I tried this! It was drying me out so bad I had to throw it out

Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence+Kiehl's Clearly Corrective™ Dark Spot Solution Main Ingredients: 96% Snail Mucin / Ascrobic Acid, White Birch Extract As we all know snail mucin or can be called snail slime helps to moisturize skin, promote collagen production, and aids in skin healing and regeneration. Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence contains up to 96.3% of snail secretion filtrate which helps to protect the skin from moisture loss while improving skin elasticity. Snail mucin helps repair and soothes red, sensitive skin after breakouts by replenishing moisture. So it suits me very well since i'm a sensitive dry skin. It's a little bit sticky but absorbs very well. It really add water to my skin because i normally use it at night and wake up with bump skin. I don't like Korean skincare products normally, but this one really beyond my expectation. It's cheap and effective. Kiehl's Clearly Corrective™ Dark Spot Solution is the product i recently add to my skincare routine, after the snail essence. It certainly improved my hyperpigmentation. I got some acne scars and really want to remove them. After few weeks, i definitely see an improvement of my scar. They star to fading. The combination of these two products help improved my skin recovery and brightening, moisturizing as well. I do like this match.

Old vs. New: Skin Brightening Serums 🍊
Old vs. New: Skin Brightening Serums 🍊
I feel like regardless of who you are most people deal with some form of hyperpigmentation issues. Personally, I have slight acne prone skin which leads to dark marks once the blemish has healed. I work at Ulta and I’ve always heard good things from my coworkers about the Murad - Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum so I decided to buy a mini to try. Murad - I was pleasantly surprised to find the mini of this serum lasted me about two months! For $20 you don’t get a lot of product but a little bit does go a long way. I used one pump in the morning all over my face. It’s a gel consistency that does smooth over the face but it is a tad bit sticky. That being said when I put my moisturizer on top I didn’t notice that. I feel like within the first month I started seeing results which amazed me. A year ago I had major acne break outs all over my chin which left a lot of dark marks. Within a month of using this serum the dark marks lightened up about 60%! After about a month though I did see the product plateau. It could be the fact they were already pretty lightened up but I didn’t see much of a difference within month two. Because of this, the price of the product, and the fact that alcohol was the second ingredient on the list I decided not to repurchase this serum. Instead I was gifted the GOOD MOLECULES - Daily Brightening Serum Good Molecules - I’ve only used this a few times but so far I’m hopeful. The price point is a lot better! For $9 you get 1 oz of product. It contains beta arbutin which will target dullness and inhibit melanin production. The serum is a lot more lightweight. It absorbs really nice into the skin and doesn’t feel sticky or tacky like the Murad can. It’s a water based formula so it works well under make up. I also like the fact that it has hyaluronic acid so instead of drying your skin out like the alcohol in the Murad can this actually adds moisture into your skin. I also use this in the morning. As much as I liked the Murad and did see results I can’t justify the price nor do I like the fact alcohol is the second ingredient. I like the price and ingredient list a lot more on the Good Molecules serum. 🍊🧡

Heard of Good Molecules yet? Hoping you have jumped on the bandwagon because this brand is so good for so many different reasons! Great line of affordable skincare and the brand really cares about their customers and how they get their ingredients and such. So far, my favorite serum is the GOOD MOLECULES - Discoloration Correcting Serum This is powerhouse serum that focuses on fading dark spots/pigmentation, refining pores and texture, and hydrating the skin! + Tranexamic Acid works to even the skin tone. + Niacinamide helps improve enlarged pores, dull skin, and texture. + hyaluronic acid keeps hydration locked in. + thicker consistency almost gel like serum + little goes a long way + results are slow, but will show! + $12! This has helped my acne scars and my pores the most! It has taken a little over a month to see results for me.

Toner for Hyperpigmentation
Toner for Hyperpigmentation
I want to talk about the toner I’ve been using the past week for hyperpigmentation. It is Caudalie’s Brightening Essence. This is good for hyperpigmentation, dark spots, scarring, brightening and illuminating the skin. TBH I’m definitely not a person that is” obsessed” with toners. I feel like I can live without them. I know that’s bad to say & I don’t know why I don’t have tons of toners but I definitely have made more of an an effort the past week to incorporate it in my skin care routine. Since, I went to the Sephora sale last weekend I purchased one of Caudalie’s Holiday Sets. Now I can honestly tell you my face has looked brighter & smoother since I have been using the toner & the Vinoperfect brightening serum. I don’t know if it’s the serum, the toner or both together but I can see a difference in my skin. I have scarring from cystic acne so I do need to use a toner to give myself more of an even skin texture. I am a big fan of Caudalie’s brand and products and like other products of theirs, this is Vegan(which I love!!!). What is it? This is a natural brightening essence toner powered by glycolic acid to remove dead skin and grape water to hydrate, brighten, smooth, evening the skin. This is targeted for normal and combination skin. Again, it’s good for brightening dark spots, dullness, and uneven texture. It’s packed with powerhouse ingredients; organic grape water and glycolic acid to hydrate and exfoliate and white peony extract to reveal fresh radiant skin. It also has tons of essential oils which is crazy because it doesn’t leave my face feeling oily so that’s an added bonus. Some of the important or more effective essential oils in my opinion are: Lemongrass, Lavender, Rosemary, & Lemon Balm. These oils provide a calming antiseptic to the skin that will help reduce dark spots and blemishes. I love that it’s hydrating, light & doesn’t feel oily. I will say I see a glow after I use it. I’m giving it a 3 because I still don’t know if I see a huge change in my skin with toners, but I’ll keep at it.CAUDALIE - Vinoperfect Brightening Glycolic Essence

I wanted to talk paulaschoice
I wanted to talk paulaschoice boosters. First up is the PC Niacinamide booster. Im a big fan of Niacinamide. The first product I tried, (which had an identical formula) was from the ordinary. The truth is that the paulaschoice booster costs 5x more but the results are exactly the same. It helps control the production of sebum on my chin area. It means I squeeze less and there are virtually NO whiteheads. how lovely. The main difference with this formula is its super absorbent, lightweight and doesnt pill so i wear it in the day. with the ordinary i had to wear it at night as it was a thickish serum which pilled like hell. The azelaic acid booster from PC deserves a special mention. It REALLY helps soothe and brighten the skin, whilst added salicylic acid reduces break outs. This product is pretty much on its way to HG status, i notice a brightening effect after just two uses, and after consistent use definitely notice marks from spot picking fade on my face. FADE not disappear, but fade quickly. I find this works better with newer dark spots than older ones, but I think its very effective and expect it accelerates the overall process of dark spot disappearance with consistent use.

The Caudalie Vinoperfect Anti
The Caudalie Vinoperfect Anti Dark Spot Serum is a new love of mine. It is a serum that targets hyperpigmentation, dull skin and uneven texture. The texture of this is quite runny, and it comes in a dropper! The packaging is a cute little glass bottle, so you will be able to see when you are running low easily. I have been using this product for a few weeks now. You can use it day and night. I just wanted to help with some acne scaring and texture I was experiencing and I had heard such great reviews about this line. The product itself has a unique scent that I can’t put my finger on. It’s not unpleasant but it’s not a fragrance either. Regardless, the scent does not linger so it’s not really an issue. This product can be easily applied both morning and night, I just put a few drops into the palm of my hand and pat it into my skin. I didn’t notice results right away, but after a few days of continuous use I was noticing my skin was more radiant. I still have hyperpigmentation but I have noticed a difference in the darkness and I do think this serum is helping eliminate it! It is $80 for 1 oz, which is pretty steep. Currently you can get the holiday set which comes with a full size bottle and mini trial sizes of the overnight cream and the essence for just the price of the serum which I think is a great deal! I will continue to use this until I finish, then I will see how my skin reacts when I stop using it to see if I can do without it or if I need to repurchase a new bottle! The price definetly makes me hesitant but Sephora does offer 20% discounts quite often now.
