Super simple skin routine-sensitive, dry skin
TRADER JOE'S - Ultra Hydrating Gel Moisturizer with Aloe & Green Tea Extracts Great for a light day-time layer of moisture. Great price, no fragrance, so not a super risky buy if you’re looking to try it and you don’t need to use a lot. I don’t know yet if this will be enough moisture during the winter months, but it’s worked well in the summer/early fall. JUICE BEAUTY - STEM CELLULAR CC Cream Given my skin’s proneness to dryness, especially in winter, I like to keep my SPF separate from my moisturizer. Usually, combination day creams aren’t always hydrating enough. This is a great everyday SPF-it’s zinc, no chemical sunscreeen and doesn’t cause breakouts and never stings. It’s called a CC cream-I’ve found it doesn’t really offer any color coverage, beyond blending in the zinc so you don’t look like a ghost. If you’re looking for more of a makeup SPF product, this isn’t it. But if you’re looking for non-chemical SPF that isn’t drying and is tinted to blend in well, I highly recommend! If you’re oily you may find your face looks too shiny from this, but great for dry skin. It lasts a lot longer than you’d think. Avène - Extremely Gentle Cleanser Lotion I just started using this-I only cleanse at night. I’ve been looking for an alternative to Cetaphil cleanser that won’t break me out. Cetaphil is one of the only cleansers that doesn’t cause a reaction long-term, but there’s a few ingredients in it I’d rather avoid. I’ve only used this a few times, but so far I really like it. It’s gentle and leaves my skin feeling soft. We’ll see how it works long term! CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream Nothing fancy-but it works if you need a simple moisturizer. I’ve heard some people get breakouts from this, but I haven’t had an issue. It’s similar to Cetaphil cream in the tub-I’d say they’re comparable.

Avene moisturiser comparison
Photo comparing of the 2 creams are the tolerance extreme at the top and hydrance riche at the bottom. All three pics try and showcase the consistancy difference of both creams. Background of this review. I have 4 weeks into using prescription retinol “Epiduo” which has 0.1% Adapalene and 2.5% benzoyl peroxide My skin has tolerated epiduo amazingly. I started using it every night from the get go. My skin burned and was sensitive the first week and then chilled out. It is now dry looking especially under make up and so my concern is to hydrate hydrate hydrate! Prior to epiduo I had normal and acne prone skin. I now use epiduo as my last step in my nighttime skincare routine. Avène - Tolérance Extrême Cream This product comes in air right packaging and is light enough in consistency to use in the day. It is the least fragranced among the three and is very hydrating. Comparatively to the hydrance Riche cream it is more “watery” in consistency and is more whiter. It doesn’t spread as evenly as the riche cream but I feel is more “soothing” in a way. Due to its watery texture I feel it penetrates slightly deeper. Avène - Hydrance Rich Hydrating Cream This is similar to the tolerance extreme créme. It does the same thing to the skin however has a different vehicle. It’s more lotion based and blends into the skin more evenly. A more aesthetically better vehicle. It has a stronger “fragrance” to it however the fragrance is like baby powder scent which is a scent that means it doesn’t have fragrance 😅 Out of these 2 I honestly could recommend both. The extreme has more air tight packaging and watery texture. The riche cream is more lotion based and is also just as good. Both do the job and both are hypoallegenic. Both hydrate very well especially for “prescription skin” If I had to choose I would go extreme just due to that watery texture being able to penetrate deeper. And is better suited for bigger pores which I have around my nose area. Also airtight packaging is better. Avène - Cicalfate Restorative Skin Cream This is the thicker and more different cream. It still goes nice and thin as you spread it over your face and doesn’t leave a big white cast for me any my skin tone. This is great for all over the skin when I’m really dry or just over areas where I’m really dry. E.g just under eyebrows, eyelids, around mouth. I would definitely recommend this as a “pick me up” hydration if you feel you need a product that can boost your already hydrating routine. Or if you don’t have a hydrating routine and you need something for bedtime. I personally used this at night all over my face and spot treat in the morning if I need. Hope this helps anyone who is trying to find the best moisturiser from the brand 😊

NECESSITIES: Skincare the Korean Way
I was asked on Twitter to do product reviews regarding my Korean skincare, so I was thinking, “Hey, why not put it on Cherie as well?”. Not all of my followers use Cherie and not a lot of people know me on Cherie, but hopefully if you come across this somehow, you can take something away from this post. Because I have so many products I’m going to do this in waves: - Necessities - Acne Gods - Exfoliators - Cleansers - Lip Care - Highschool Carry Ons - The God of All Serums - Face Masks This round is Necessities! I will be going over the products I use on a daily basis without fail. Even if I wake up a few minutes late, I can get this simple routine done in about 5-7 minutes. Super easy right? I am going to do this in order that I use them. First is Soo'AE - HEMP DREAMS CLEANSING OIL . This is my first step after makeup removal. I don’t normally use a lot of makeup or any makeup for that matter, so I can usually go straight to an oil cleanser. A good oil cleanser should be deep cleansing and hydrating, they should be essentially melting all the makeup and nasty that makeup remover doesn’t get. SooAe, an Korean-American skincare brand has released this cleansing oil which uses Hemp seed oil in order to do a deep cleaning and hydrate at the same time. All I do is take a pump of this, massage it into my face, then massage in some warm water. The cleansing oil should turn a milky white once the water is introduced. Following an oil cleanser, I ALWAYS have to go in with another non-oil based cleanser. I like foam cleansers because they tend to be water based and they are really light and airy. NATURE REPUBLIC - Soothing & Moisture Aloe Vera Foam Cleanser is perfect for what I need. As I have normal skin type (thank you 엄마 mom and 아빠 dad!!), I am all about hydrating and protecting. The aloe very has a soothing effect and most definitely leaves my skin nice and restored by the end. This cleanser also doesn’t leave any makeup or nasty in your pores. On a good day, I would do a triple cleanse and follow up with a pore cleansing foam or my weekly exfoliating cleanser, but this is bare necessities. That being said, following my double cleansing method, I follow up with LANEIGE - Essential Power Skin Toner for Normal to Dry Skin . Anyone who knows me knows I swear my entire life by Laneige. The reason is because of their HUGE selection of water based skincare. The Essential Power Skin Toner is super refreshing and acts as a third cleanser while also replenishing moisture. Keyword here is MOISTURE!!! Most toners tend to dry out the skin, but Laneige doesn’t disappoint and hydrates like no other. Of course, following any good toner should be an essence. I use LANEIGE - Water Bank Hydro Essence . It not only boosts hydration, but it locks in any moisture in your skin and prepares your skin to absorb any serums, essential oils, or face mask/packs that you use after. Even if you don’t use oils, serums, masks, etc. using essence before eye cream and even simple moisturizer will prepare your skin for an ultra hydration party. Normally, I would use serums and a face mask/pack, but since the clock is ticking before I have to leave the house, I’m going to skip straight to eye cream. Eye cream is NOT ONLY FOR AGING ADULTS! Eye cream/gels are used to treat and maintain the skin around our eyes. The skin around our eyes are the weakest, thinnest, and most sensitive skin on our bodies, so we need to take really really good care of it. Another product of LANEIGE - Water Bank Eye Gel . I was born with the typical Asian eyes which are on the smaller side, so when I am tired and my eyes are a bit swollen, my eyes look 10x smaller. Not the prettiest thing to look at. This eye gel is not only light and hydrating, but it also has a cooling effect which wakes me up a bit. Following this, I use the LANEIGE - Water Bank Hydrating Gel . Since I moved from Korea, I can’t seem to find this in the States, so I have my grandparents bring this over for me when they come for their visits. With this, a little goes a long way, so despite the small size, it hydrates and leaves your skin looking plump and glowy all day long. While I brush my teeth and last minute pack my school bag, I let the two Water Bank gels fully absorb and then follow up with AHC - Natural Perfecting Double Shield Sun Stick SPF50+ PA++++ with a SPF of 50+. You should use a sunscreen of at least SPF 30 no matter the weather forecast is. If you are going outside and the sun is out, put on the damn sunscreen. Your skin will thank you later. There are a number of reasons I recommend this. The first one being that it is a sunscreen and a color corrected all in one. I tend to pink really easily, and not a cute blush. I mean the pink where you low key look like a lobster the minute you go into the sun for more than 10 minutes. Since the color of the sunstuck is green, it naturally cancels out the redness. The other reason I recommend this is because it is so much easier and portable than suncreams/screens. It’s a stick that can be easily tossed into my bag when I need to put more sunscreen on (you should put reapply sunscreen after about 2 hours). Last big reason I like this is because it doesn’t leave that oily looking residue and it doesn’t become sticky and nasty when you sweat. The last of the Water Bank line and the Necessities lineup is the LANEIGE - Water Bank Hydrating Gel , which also has a cooling effect and can be put over sunscreen to give your skin that extra glow. I’m telling you, if you keep using this gel, your skin will be baby smooth within a week or two. Admittedly, some of these products are on the pricier side, but the results are worth the extra 5-7 bucks you will pay, plus, with these product, a lot goes a long way. All of the Laneige gels last me a good 6-7 months each and the toner and essence lasts me nearly an entire year. Keep in mind that I follow this skincare routine twice a day/everyday. That’s a lot longer than most products last, so consider throwing in a bit more money for a lot of results~ I hope you learned a lot from this post and were able to benefit from my reviews. I will continue with the waves and hopefully I will get through every wave my the end of next week.
