Aloe Vera: Yay or Nay?
I remember my grandmother putting loads of Aloe Vera and Vaseline on my face when I was younger. I hated when it got in my mouth and that bitter taste made me hate the stuff! I swore to never touch the stuff EVER! Now that I’m older (and a bit wiser), I can appreciate aloe for its hydrating and healing properties. It has natural anti inflammatory effects on the skin which helps out with things such as psoriasis and eczema. It also absorbs into the skin which can help with dry skin and even works on people with oily skin. I decided to use this to help out with the dryness I was feeling on parts of my body including my face and hair. I’m still not a fan of the taste and it is slimey as God knows what BUT it still works so very, very well that I can’t give it up. My hair is very hydrated which is really needed during the Fall months and my face isn’t dry at all! I recommend this to EVERYONE! I am so glad I went back. 😘 Thanks to my grandma for showing me how to treat my skin, tame my hair and love with my whole heart (Sleep In Peace and I love you 💕 ).

𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨, 𝐈’𝐦 𝐉𝐚𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞. I’d thought I would share a brief introduction since you’ve found your way to my page. 🥳 I’m a 32 year old stay at home mommy and Behavioral 𝖧𝖾𝖺𝗅𝗍𝗁 𝖧𝖱/𝖯𝗋𝗈𝖿𝖾𝗌𝗌𝗂𝗈𝗇𝖺𝗅 [𝗈𝗇 𝗌𝖺𝖻𝖻𝖺𝗍𝗂𝖼𝖺𝗅.] that lives in the Eastern Shore of Maryland. (the country 🥴 lol) I’ve always loved beauty products from the time I was around my daughter’s age, playing in my mommy’s make-up and avon (she was that girl!) products. As I’ve gotten older I’ve discovered new and innovative beauty + skincare and I’m excited to see long-awaited doors opening especially for Black companies, MUA’s & estheticians in this field. Do’s & Don’ts of Skincare 🔆
On average it takes anywhere between 1-3 months to see progress (not always perfection) towards our skin goals 🦥 So while trying to find our perfect routine, keep in mind that each new product you introduce resets your timeline. Be patient. It’s okay to try new things, in fact you won’t find what works best for you if you’re not willing to explore and try new things. Another thing to keep in mind is that your skin is a barrier that should be treated with respect, love and gentle care 💙 ❌ Don’t introduce too many new products at once, you risk damaging your barrier, upping your skin sensitivity and the possibility of having to spend more time trying to figure out which product to cut out. ❌ Don’t give up. Your skin takes about 28 days to ‘recycle’ its cells and shed a new light. You won’t see instant progress, but understand you’re in it for the long term results, not the short term. ❌ Don’t keep using a bad product. If it isn’t working, it isn’t working. Accept it and move on to find what does work. ❌ Don’t stress about it. All you have is time, don’t spend it stressing over what to use. You WILL find what works best for you. You need time to see results and find your dream routine. Stressing will only make it worse. ❗️❌ DIY does not equal safe. There are plenty of DIY “miracle cures” out there. But putting lemon juice, baking soda, walnut shells, egg whites, etc. on your face WILL damage your skin or cause bacterial spread. Remember, you’re in it for long term results, don’t try short term (damaging) “fixes” that will set you further back. ✅ Choose products that match what you need / your skin type. ✅ Do your research, there’s plenty of information available online, take advantage of that to help you achieve what you want. (Especially for DIY. Please do research on the effect of the things you put on your face BEFORE putting it on your face) ✅ Ask a dermatologist. I can’t stress this enough, ask a dermatologist for advice if you’re stuck or unsure of what to do / where to go. Their job is to help make your skin look / feel its best for you. Understand that and work with that. Your skin should have two best friends; you and your dermatologist. ✅ Try new things! It’s okay if something doesn’t work, it’s not your only option available. ✅ Listen to your skin. Your skin is the largest organ of your body and its the most exposed to the world. Listen to how your skin feels. Are you feeling greasy? Tight? Dry? Crepey? ✅ Protect and restore your skin barrier. That skin barrier of yours is your best shield 🛡 against the world and its elements. Don’t destroy or weaken your shield. Protect and restore it. 🛡 ✅ Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerin, Ceramides, Peptides, SPF, these are ingredients you should look for to protect and restore your barrier. ✅ ALWAYS WEAR SPF (during the day). SPF 30+ and reapply it every 2 hours! ✅ Take ya damn vitamins
BEST moisturizer that has saved me skin !
I have been using the Bliss Drench and Quench moisturizer on my combination skin for almost a year now and let me tell you it has done wonders for my skin ! I have a very oily and acne prone T zone as well as around my mouth , and very dry and almost flaky cheeks and under eyes. This moisturizer is great for both areas! It hasn’t made me break out or anything like that. Perfect for natural summer skin! It leaves the skin with a nice natural finish and a smooth feel that you can easily go over with your makeup. It is kind of on the pricy side (20) dollars but I haven’t found any moisturizer that tops it! 100% recommend !!!! bliss - Drench & Quench Moisturizer
