Target’s Vegan Line Versed
As a young adult who finished the peak and still endured acne, I live with a lot of PIH, especially on my cheeks. I have tried for years to find a product that would brighten and even out the dark discoloration but failed every time no matter how long I stuck it out with a product. Strolling through Target months and months ago, I saw a shiny end cap full of pastel colored vegan skincare products. I eventually caved, hoping that there could be a solution for me here. The first product I ever decided to use was VERSED - WEEKEND GLOW

Texture & Brightness: My Current Fave!
VERSED - PRESS RESTART Gentle Retinol Serum has been really awesome! Here are some details: 🌱 fantastic for sensitive skin that wants the complimentary, anti-aging benefits of both retinol and bakuchiol. Additionally for folks being introduced to retinol- it’s a more gentle transition compared to a lot of other products! 🌱 contains sunflower oil, a fantastic ingredient that’s a source of vitamin-e, that has antioxidant benefits, along with the ability to combat acne, inflammation, and general redness/ irritation, which helps balance out retinol’s potential, initial intensity. 🌱made for aging skin, dullness, and problem skin- it tackles a lot of needs that you might be having currently! The product is intended to speed up cell turnover and with that, and after applying overnight, definitely need to layer on your SPF. Indoors or outdoors! 🌱While folks believe retinol and bakuchiol can be considered interchangeable, I believe they are more so complimentary with each other. There’s still a more room for studies to prove the true, specific benefits of bakuchiol, but they both support leaving you with a more youthful appearance and elasticity. What I initially noticed in the first few uses: +felt it seep in immediately, it’s almost as if I could feel it start to work! +absolutely no redness, which is not surprising with sunflower oil being one of the top 5 ingredients! +didn’t pill with any of my moisturizers Some potential things to consider: -pilling occurred when there were too many other serums being used at the same time, check what you have! Consider for simpler evening routines certain nights, and obviously avoid using AHAs with this! -what’s your budget like? This guy is $21.99 for 1 fl oz, however the formula is lightweight once pumped, so possible the amount goes a long way! Overall Thoughts: I definitely believe the price point matches the ingredient quality. It’s worth repurchasing for me! This product is really effective for what it is, and can see a lot of folks with sensitive skin who have been wanting benefits that come with retinol to be able to confidently start using this!
Versed Press Restart Gentle Retinol Serum
VERSED - PRESS RESTART I just started using this product and I already love it!!! I recently turned 24, and was not using any anti aging products. I wanted to try a retinol, but I was scared of it irritating my sensitive skin. I have been using this serum for a little over a week and I can already see a difference in my skin. My skin is brighter and I can see my dark spots begin to fade. This product is called a serum, but I would say the consistency is more like a light face cream. It has an odd scent, but I was used to it by the 3rd day and it no longer bothers me. I use this product every night, after cleansing my face. On Versed’s website, it says this retinol is specially formulated for sensitive skin and first time retinol users. This serum has microencapsulated retinol, along with natural retinol alternatives arophira and bakuchiol. There is also antioxidants and anti-inflammatories in this product. 👉🏻I HIGHLY recommend this product for first time retinol users!

So I went to target looking for the Cerave cleanser and surprise surprise they were sold out. I still wanted to leave with something and the brand Versed caught my eye. I always saw ads of this brand and I kept saying I was going to buy from there but I never got around to it. I think it was fate. I wanted a cleanser so I picked up the Wash it out gel cleanser. It comes in a 6.4 fl oz was bottle and it retails at $12.99. It is formulated with rose water, mint, apple amino acids and seaweed extract. It turns into a frothy texture. I love this product. I love the smell of mint and the minty fresh feeling. It doesn’t leave my skin dry at all. It’s your everyday cleanser with minty twist. It’s made for all skin types and is also pregnancy safe. I highly recommend this product if you want a good quality face wash for super cheap. I’m going to be buying from this brand more often. This brand, and product is non toxic, vegan, and cruelty free. It is also free of parabens, silicones, sulfates and they do not test on animals. VERSED - WASH IT OUT Gel Cleanser
Versed Wash It Out Gel Cleanser
VERSED - WASH IT OUT Gel Cleanser This face wash is great! It is a very gentle cleanser that lathers easily. This product leaves a cooling effect on the skin, but it is very gentle and feels very calming. After you wash off the face wash, your skin is left feeling hydrated, and not stripped. This gel cleanser is infused with rose water and a hint a mint. You can find this at Target for $12.99. This bottle is large for the amount of product you need to wash your face, so one bottle will last you a long time. 👉🏻I recommend this face cleanser for anyone who is looking for a gentle face wash that works!

This mask is super hydrating and sinks into the skin super well so it won’t get on your pillow while you sleep #cheriepartner
EXFOLIATION 101! How, what, when & why!
PHYSICAL VS CHEMICAL + SERUM VS SCRUB VS TONER! Which will you choose?! Hi everyone, welcome to Exfoliation 101. Let’s jump right into the lesson! 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭? Exfoliation is the removal of old and dead skin cells on the surface. AKA it’s how you get rid of dry, flaky, and crusty skin. 𝐰𝐡𝐲? Exfoliation removes the layer of dead skin cells that often clog our pores and keep our skin care products from penetrating deeper into the skin. Essentially, you should exfoliate to reveal brighter, softer, and healthier skin. Your serums and moisturizers will perform a lot better. 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧? 2-3x a week MAX. Over exfoliation can cause irritation and breakouts! I personally only exfoliate 2x a week for my dry skin. 𝐡𝐨𝐰? PHYSICAL - granular particals like powders, sugar, oatmeal, fruits.. etc. * scrubs can often be abrasive and do more harm than good. Always be gentle, stay away from your eyes, and don’t over do it. I recommend physical scrubs that have granular particals that are gentle and or dissolve. CHEMICAL - Acids in the form of serums or toners! * There are many types, so read below to find which one might fit your concerns best. Skip a few days in between use and WEAR SPF! ✦ AHAs > Glycolic & Lactic Acid. * works on the skin surface. Mainly helps skin texture. Can be synthetic, but mostly derived from fruits. ✦ BHAs > Salicylic Acid & tropic Acid. * deeply penetrates pores, helps skin texture & unclog pores and remove excess sebum. Ideal for acne prone skin. ✦ PHAs > Gluconolactone & Lactobionic Acid. * less irritating. Doesn’t penetrate as deep as AHA/BHAs 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬↴ GOOD MOLECULES - Pineapple Exfoliating Powder The best gentle physical exfoliation. + made from rice powder! Just add water and start to *gently* scrub away. + also includes pineapple enzymes for some chemical exfoliation as well. + great for sensitive skin & exfoliation beginners. + brightens and smooths. + all skin types. + affordable! $18 FARMACY - Honeymoon Glow Serum Multi-tasking overnight serum with chemical exfoliation BHAs + AHAs and more. + great for texture, hydration, brightening, and clarifying skin. + helps enlarged pores, fine lines, wrinkles, breakouts, dark spots, firmness and skin elasticity. + 14% AHA, BHA, flower acids. + NIGHT TIME ONLY. + rich and silky texture. + doesn’t sting or burn! (I have sensitive skin) + $58. Best bought in a set for a bargain. iNNBEAUTY PROJECT - Down To Tone Resurfacing Toner Exfoliating Toner Chemical exfoliating toner + 6 acid blend ( basically BHA + PHA ) + exfoliates, clarifies, and brightens. + helps with acne, texture, & dark spots. + use on cotton round. + Use 2-5x per week at night, work your way up to daily use. + tingles + $22

Affordable and Effective Skincare Anyone?
Let’s talk The Inkey List. I’ve been hearing about this brand for MONTHS and never really paid much attention, until recently. I started seeing people I really trust enjoying a lot of their products and thought, hm, maybe there is something to this. So, I asked the company for a skincare routine for me based on my type of skin and concerns. So far, these are the products I’ve tried from the routine and my thoughts. I’ve been incorporating 1 new product per week but I started with the basics all together, so the Bakuchiol, Brighten-i Eye Cream, Salicylic Acid Cleanser, and Hyaluronic Acid serum have been in rotation for about a month at this point and were the first 4 products I used together. Next I incorporated the PHA Toner, and lastly was the Vitamin C serum. •Bakuchiol - I like this a lot. It sinks right in and doesn’t leave a residue, but it isn’t quite hydrating enough for me. I do think I’ll need to incorporate an oil on top, but I don’t mind. The only negative I have with this so far is the packaging. I hate this packaging. The product is too thin for this kind of tube. •Brighten-i Eye Cream - I’ve seen nothing crazy with this, but I don’t see anything crazy with any eye cream. I do like this a lot though and I like the applicator. •Hyaluronic Acid - this feels very nice on the skin. It feels velvety on the skin and soaks right in for me. It leaves no residue and I’ve been enjoying it. I don’t know that it’s helping much with keeping my skin hydrated though. •PHA Toner - I think I’m liking this a lot. I feel like it’s helped my texture and made my face feel softer. It doesn’t seem to be causing any issues, but I think it is a little drying for me. A heavier moisturizer would solve this problem, I think. •Vitamin C Serum - I’ve only been using this for a little over a week and I’m uncertain about it. I do not like the smell and and it leaves my skin EXTREMELY sticky initially. Like, I could stick a spoon to my face and it would probably stay, sticky. Thankfully, it doesn’t seem to linger and sinks in after a few minutes. Even if there is a teensy bit of tackiness if I get impatient, after putting on a moisturizer it’s gone. •Salicylic Acid Cleanser - I feel like this does work well and is very gentle. It doesn’t irritate my skin or feel drying, so I really like it. It seems to help with blackheads a lot and with any active breakouts I have, so I’ve definitely been enjoying it. THE inkey LIST - Brighten-i Eye Cream THE inkey LIST - Bakuchiol Retinol Alternative Moisturizer THE inkey LIST - Hyaluronic Acid Serum THE inkey LIST - Polyhydroxy Acid (PHA) Gentle Exfoliating Toner THE inkey LIST - 15% Vitamin C and EGF THE inkey LIST - Salicylic Acid Acne + Pore Cleanser

Georgette Radiance Challenge P2!
Here's my review of each product individually: Vitamin C Complex The Vitamin C Complex serum contains a stable, ultra-effective form of vitamin C and uses a combination of Mulberry, Licorice Root and Lemon Peel to protect against oxidative stress while also improving radiance and tone/texture. In addition to be super brightening, it’s also super hydrating thanks to hyaluronic acid. My nose is notorious for getting dry patches and I haven’t had any pop up since using this product. It also helps with softness and tone, which is always a plus. I can’t vouch for its anti-aging properties – I feel like I’d need more than 10 days to confidently say if it’s helped improve firmness, bounce or the appearance of lines. This is my favorite product from the routine. I loooove serums (especially vitamin C serums) and this didn’t disappoint. I’m a big fan of textures and love when products settle nicely and effortlessly into the skin. Thankfully, this checked off all of the boxes. I’ll definitely continue using this after the 10-day trial. Vitamin C Cleanser I love a good gel cleanser, and let me say that the Vitamin C Cleansing Gel is a good gel cleanser. Not only does it smell amazing (like a hint of reinvigorating citrus), but it also contains a skin-healthy blend of Orange, Grapefruit, and Lemon Peel extracts and gets deep into the skin for a good, pore-cleansing clean. In addition to its lovely lightweight and refreshing gel texture and its brightening properties, I’m a big fan of this cleanser because it’s not stripping and makes my skin feel clean and healthy. I’ll definitely keep using this until it’s done. I wish it had a little bit more lather though! Vitamin C Toner I have a love-hate relationship with toners and don’t really find myself gravitating towards them. I’m a little skeptical about them in general, but the Vitamin C Toner has been a nice addition to my skincare routine, especially now that it’s warmer and I’ve been sitting out in the sun more. The toner features vitamin C-rich Kakadu Plum, as well as skin-calming and balancing ingredients such as Aloe, Witch Hazel, Watercress, and Elderflower Extracts, which also purify the skin and remove excess oil and dirt. It’s hard to say if it’s the toner at work here, but I will say that my skin has been noticeably less clogged and I haven’t had as many breakouts (this 10-day trial also happened to take place around my period, so that’s saying something!) I’m definitely intrigued and will continue using!
Please Don’t Mix These!
Acids (actives) and retinol are awesome skincare ingredients. They can do a lot for your skin, such as increasing cell turnover, lightening acne and dark spots, smoothing texture, help acne, and exfoliating dead skin. However, it’s important to know what products you can mix and what you can’t. For example, you don’t want to include retinol in your skincare routine at the same time as an exfoliating toner, overnight exfoliating treatment, or acid spit treatment. What I’m saying is you don’t want to wash your face, tone with the YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner , apply a retinol serum such as THE inkey LIST - Retinol Serum , and then use GOOD MOLECULES - Overnight Exfoliating Treatment or DERMA•E - Acne Blemish Control Treatment Serum . Not a good idea!! Why? Using these products together can cause over-exfoliation. Over-exfoliation goes beyond the typical bit of peeling and sensitivity that introducing retinol or acids can sometimes cause. You could end up with significant peeling, irritated spots, chemical burns, or any other adverse reaction specific to your body. I have over-exfoliated before by using the YTTP toner multiple days in a row. I had irritated, itchy, dry skin and little bumps formed on my forehead. Oops! It happens. But it could have been prevented. That’s why it’s important to read up on what skincare ingredients should and shouldn’t be mixed. Still want to use retinol and acids? Of course you can, but don’t use them at the same time! Apply your exfoliating toner (maybe not as strong as the YTTP one, though) in the AM and retinol or exfoliating serum in the PM. Or try applying 1 one day and another the next. Use your acne spot treatment alone. Most importantly, pay attention to your skin type and how it is reacting. If you have sensitive skin, you probably can’t exfoliate/use retinol even that frequently. I have dry skin, so I exfoliate and/or use retinol (never same day) 1-2x/week.

Brightening Essences For Different Skin Types
Combination skin people, can I get an ‘aye’? If you’ve got combination skin, you’ll know that selecting which products to use is not so straightforward. Here are three essences that I’ve used in the past (and in the present) that are great for different skin types. With FIKÄ Brightening Essence With FIKÄ was given to me by my boyfriend after his Korea trip. It was his first time seeing the brand and he thought this essence was pretty unique since it comes with a pump bottle. The texture is also more akin to a lotion or cream, unlike most regular essences. I actually like using this product because it really works on the brightening aspect. It’s also light enough that I actually use this in the morning. Plus, the price is very affordable, costing less than $10 for 50ml worth of product. NACIFIC - Phyto Niacin Whitening Essence Nacific’s Phyto Niacin Essence is my current PM routine essence. It contains Niacinamide, which, if you’ve already read some of my other reviews, is a favorite ingredient of mine. Niacinamide works so well on my skin that I still get amazed every day. The consistency of this product is a bit thicker than water, but it’s still pretty watery. I love how smooth it makes my skin. When combined with other niacinamide products, I think it really does a great job of lightening my dark spots and acne scars. MISSHA - Time Revolution First Treatment Essence Intensive Moist I’ve already finished two bottles of this product and it’s one of my favorite products ever. And I mean ever. It’s totally on my HG list. It’s hydrating but not heavy at all, so you can easily use this in the morning. At $50 per 150ml bottle, it’s a great dupe for a much more expensive essence, the SK-II Essence, which retails for around $100. The only downside to this essence? The glass packaging. It looks nice, yes, but it’s extremely fragile. I dropped my newly-bought third bottle from my dresser one morning and it shattered into a million pieces. It’s the first time that ever happened to me so yes, ya gurl kinda cried a bit. That’s also why I haven’t bought another one yet. Traumatizing, really. All these products are pretty good, especially if you just want to hydrate and brighten your skin. WithFIKÄ works great on dry skin, Nacific works well for dry and normal skin, while Missha works perfectly for those with normal and oily skin.

Post Accutane Night Time Skin Care Routine
While on accutane I had a very simple skincare routine to allow the medication to do its thing. I’m 7 months post Accutane, and my face is still pimple free. Yay! My skin care concerns at this time is discoloration/dark spots and minimal scarring on one of my cheeks. In this routine I am using the Fresh Soy cleanser to cleanse. It’s so important to make sure you’re thoroughly cleansing your face so that the remaining products can properly penetrate the skin. I use esthetician Nayamka Roberts-Smith (@LABeautyologist)’s 60 second rule when cleansing. Cleansing your face with your fingers for 60 sec allows the cleanser ingredients to do their job. This method helps to soften the skin & dissolve sebum blockages a lot better. I then follow up with applying a hydrating toner (Laniege Cream Skin toner and moisturizer) to my face with my hands. Then 2-3x a week I go in with the exfoliating serum ( The Ordinary’s Mandelic Acid 10% + HA serum) to minimize texture and uneven skin tone. Mandelic acid is gentle and works great on hyperpigmentation on people with deeper skin tones. To end it all off, I use the Kate Somerville recovery cream.
