It’s the battle against the concealers!
It’s the battle against the concealers. I have four contenders to share with you today. I rounded up my top concealers to share with you what I love and don’t love about them. Below are the top four concealers that I keep in my makeup arsenal. Next to each concealer, I’ll add in which color I personally use. My Skin Type: I have combination skin (dry cheeks & oily T-zone). My skin tone is light with yellow/neutral undertones. 1. Clinique Beyond Perfecting Super Concealer (Very Fair 06) This is a 24-hour concealer that I love to hide my undereye bags with. I love that it’s 100% fragrance-free, and it has more of a liquid consistency compared to other traditional doe-foot applicator concealers. 2. Maybelle Fit Me Concealer (20 Sand) Not only is this the cheapest option on the list - it’s my personal FAVORITE. I can’t say enough good things about this bad boy! It’s full-coverage, non-drying, a perfect shade match, and it’s under $6. I can use it under my eyes, around my nose, and to cover up any pesky pimples that may come up. 3. Too Faced Born This Way Concealer (Light Nude) This is a super full coverage concealer, but I feel like it’s a bit drying on my skin. I think this may be best for someone with more oily skin than I have. I notice I get a little dry under my eyes if I don’t use a heavy-duty moisturizer underneath when I apply this concealer. While it’s a nice formula, and I know this one is loved by SO many, I don’t really see the hype. 4. Tarte Shape Tape Concealer (Light Sand) This is another one of those concealers that people rave about - and this one I totally get! This stuff is wonderful. It glides over my skin and gives excellent coverage. I do wish I had maybe gone one shade darker, though. My current shade works well in winter, but it’s a bit too light for my tanned skin in the summer.

How to Treat Eye Problems at Home
If you’re anything like me, the pandemic has brought a slew of issues like sleepless nights, stress, and dark undereye circles. How to Fix Dark Circles: I notice that even when I manage to get in a full 8 hours of sleep, I still have these pesky dark shadows underneath my eyes. They drive me crazy! Dark circles can be caused by lack of sleep, genetics, or in my case, an iron deficiency (anemia). While I take vitamins to help with my iron deficiency, I also use skincare and makeup products to conceal my dark circles. My Must-Have Eye Products: 1. patchology - FlashPatch Illuminating Eye Gels These eye patches are made with caffeine, licorice root extract, and green, which help soothe, hydrate, and brighten the undereye area. I love using these eye gels at least once per week. All you have to do is stick them under the eyes and leave them on for five minutes. The only downside to these is that you can only use them once, then you have to throw them away. 2. CLINIQUE - Beyond Perfecting Super Concealer Camouflage + 24-Hour Wear After I use my Patchology gels, I go in with a touch of this high-coverage concealer by Clinique. This is a hydrating concealer, so it keeps the eye-area skin feeling comfortable and looking natural. The shades include an apricot-colored corrector to help tackle dark circles and discolorations. When they say it’s a 24-hour wear, they weren’t kidding. This stuff won’t budge. I usually use one of my waterproof makeup removers at the end of the day to take it off before bed. How to Avoid Dark Circles: First, it’s always best to try and understand the root cause. Try getting at least 8 hours of sleep per night and see if that helps. If not, you may want to check in with your doctor to see if you lack any vitamins.
This concealer does cover every single blemish you might have, but it helps brighten up your face, give a slight cover, and make you look naturally beautiful!! Shade: Very fair 05 (This is not the correct shade for me, a bit too yellow) Claims: 24 hour lasting, blends well, perfects My thoughts: This concealer is great if you are not going for a full glam look. It does last very long, not quite 24 hours but very close! It does blend pretty well. As for perfecting, to get total perfecting you have to layer it on multiple times, but then it will leave you looking either cakey, oily, or not your skin tone. This isn’t a prefect concealer, but a great starter!
✨ powder + spray for the perfect base
I love my BB cream, but wearing it alone can start to look oily through the day. Plus, under eye foundation can start to crepe. Here’s the products I use to supplement it for a flawless base~ with a focus on my favorite powder & spray! 🌟 BASE 🌟 I’ve used the PHYSICIANS FORMULA - Super BB All-In-1 Beauty Balm Cream SPF 30for over a year. It’s a great BB that evens your skin tone, and looks natural. It’s also non-comedogenic, and has moisturizers like Shea butter. Only problem is it can look oily if I spend the day with no powder. 🌟 CONCEALER 🌟 I use the Too Faced - Born This Way Naturally Radiant Concealerwhich was sadly discontinued. :( But it’s not matte, nor too heavy for the under eyes. I’ve used the L'ORÉAL - True Match Super Blendable Concealer& bareMinerals - BARESKIN Complete Coverage Serum Concealer, which were both comparable. ⭐️ POWDER ⭐️ In LOVE with the Beauty Bakerie - Flour Setting Powder in Oat (Translucent). It comes in the CUTEST bakery bag packaging when you get it, and it’s a loose powder. It has never felt too cakey, heavy, or overly mattifying. It has a blurring effect on my face. In the 2nd photo, it also seemed to brighten up my skin. My skin is sensitive, but it’s never irritated it- its gentle enough to even set under eye concealer. Beauty Bakerie powders have a large shade range, so deep & olive toned peeps don’t have to worry about a white cast. I’ve bought it 2x with my own money by now. It’s vegan, silicone + paraben-free, and flashback free. After trying other powders, I think this is my holy grail. ⭐️ SPRAY ⭐️ Let’s say you DO actually put too much powder on. A setting spray that makes you glow can help. I really enjoy the COLOURPOP - Pretty Fresh Hydrating Setting Spray It’s affordable at $12, and comes with hyaluronic acid and 🥥 coconut water to moisturize your skin. It smells like fresh coconut with every spritz. With this spray over the powder, my skin looked glowing- but not overly oily. It also helps my eyeshadow melt into my skin, and just... brings the whole look together. Colourpop’s forte has always been eyeshadow imo, but I feel like they’re killing it in the base department now, too. I’ve used a lot of other base products before. I tried the Maybelline concealer, the L’Oreal True Match Foundation, the Urban Decay Naked skin powder and TonyMoly setting sprays. Some were too matte or broke me out, or just did nothing. I will def think of repurchasing these products when I run out (unless I want to try something new !) ✨ TLDR ✨ Use these products for natural looking, glowy (not oily) skin. Suitable for sensitive skin, and the powder has a large shade range.
BEST Drugstore Concealer Dupe
I love makeup, but one thing I don’t love is shelling out my hard-earned dollars on overhyped products that don’t deliver what they claim they will. Dupes are cheaper alternatives that perform almost identical to their high-end counterparts. While I haven’t had much luck finding drugstore foundations to replace my high-end faves, concealer is a different story. The Concealer Faceoff: My hidden drugstore gem is the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer. I use the shade 20 Sand for reference. This is not only one of my favorite concealers of all time; it’s almost a perfect match (formula-wise) to my Too Faced Born This Way Concealer, which I use in the shade Light Nude. The Too Faced concealer is full-coverage and rings in at $30. It’s excellent for camouflaging pimples and under-eye circles. I know many girls use this particular concealer in a few shades darker than their natural skin tone to contour. The Maybelline concealer, on the other hand, costs anywhere between $5 - $8. Sometimes with drugstore makeup, where you purchase it can affect the price. I found that Target ($5.99) and Walmart ($5.34) were the cheapest options in my area. Ulta sold this particular concealer for $6.49. I love this concealer because it’s lightweight and doesn’t sink into my fine lines. What’s Better? In my opinion, the Fit Me concealer from Maybelline. I notice I gravitate toward this concealer more than any others in my collection, including fan-faves from Nars, Tarte, and Clinique. This is the best drugstore concealer I’ve come across thus far on my makeup journey. I have already been using it for years and even converted my mom into a Fit Me fan! You can see the swatches of these concealers in the photo! The top swatch is the Maybelline concealer, and the bottom is the Too Faced concealer. While the colors may not be a perfect match, the formulas are nearly identical. My Skin Type: I have combination skin (dry cheeks & oily T-zone). My skin tone is light with yellow/neutral undertones.

This concealer is really good when it comes to blending and is very inexpensive. It’s by Maybelline, and you can get it either from Walmart or Target. I typically use the shade that comes in “cafe”.
5 Steps for Soft and Natural Everyday Makeup 💋
Most days I prefer to go light on makeup if I’m just going out to run a few errands, or doing something casual with friends and family. I have a few key products that I use to help elevate my natural features, ones that I think are the most essential to help us feel more put together. Below are a few of my go to products when I want a fast, easy, and natural makeup look for everyday. You can substitute any of the specific products I mention for your own, these are just what I prefer! 1. BROWS BROWS BROWS Anytime I have nicely groomed and defined brows I immediately feel more confident. There’s something about a nicely fluffed brow that just makes me happy. Not only that, I find that it helps frame the face and adds a bit more definition to the eye area. My current favorite brow routine uses only two products: The Anastasia Brow Wiz and the Anastasia Brow Gel. The Brow Wiz has a very precise pencil tip that helps with shaping my brows and filling them in with small defined strokes, and the gel helps with adding even more definition and shape while making sure they stay put all day. 2. Conceal and Powder Concealer is the most important step to this routine. I focus my concealer application to the center of my face - think under the eyes, around the nose, and chin area. This is where I have the most redness so I focus here and then follow up with some powder. We’re not using a foundation in this routine, but for me the concealer is enough to help even out the skin tone and blend in with the rest of our bare skin, giving a seamless natural look. I’ve been using the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer and powder for years now, and they never fail me. 3. Rosy Cheeks I find that blush is a very important step after adding all that concealer and powder, which tends to flatten the face a bit. Blush will give your face a fresh look and help in defining facial structure. I don’t focus the product on the apples of my cheeks, I prefer to take it up on my cheekbones and then blend it to the apples just a bit, this defines my cheekbones more than if I only applied to the apples. Currently I’ve been loving the Wet n Wild Color Icon blush. 4. Bronzer This doesn’t serve the purpose you might expect in this particular routine. When I’m in a hurry out the door I don’t bother bronzing my face, but what I will do is put a bit of bronzer in the crease of my eyelids. It’s a quick and easy step that will define the eye and give it a bronzy look. I use the Benefit Hula Bronzer. 5. Maaaaascaraaaaa This speaks for itself. Without mascara my eyes just look incomplete lol. I’ve been loving the Buxom Lash Mascara, it gives my lashes ample volume and length, and opens up my eyes. Bonus (6.): Throw on some lip balm! 💋 I hope you’ve enjoyed taking a look at my quick and simple natural everyday makeup routine. Comment below on what your go-to everyday makeup products are, I’d love to know!

Is it a dupe?
Is elf Camo a dupe? Elf Camo comes in regular and a hydrating formula. For a week straight I tested the Tarte Shape Tape and the original elf Camo side by side. Here’s what I noticed! Elf Camo is VERY much full coverage! You only need the littlest amount. It definitely helped cover and blemishes or discoloration I had very quickly! However as it seems to be the case with the Tarte shape tape as well, it was a little drying on my under eyes. Was it enough to complain about? No. But it is something to be mindful of. I love the doe foot applicator it has along with the Shape Tape as well. To be completely honest and transparent, I didn’t see much of a difference in anyway. And neither did anyone else really. But I do think the Tarte Shape Tape lasted a little longer without creasing. I also do think the Tarte Shape Tape has a better time blending out and more shades and undertones then elf has at this moment. But, since I found this drugstore concealer, will I be buying the Tarte one again? Well time will see, but I’m leaning more towards no. Especially since I want to try the hydrating elf Camo very soon.

Favorite Anti-Redness Concealer Mix💚
e.l.f. - Color Correcting Stick & tarte - Shape Tape Concealer I purchased these two separately over period of time but as I experiment, I came to conclusion that these are such a good combination! I have combination acne prone skin so I have lots of redness. I like to color correct my skin when necessary. These two are my favorite concealers. Elf concealer is too green to be applied alone so I like to combine with full coverage concealer like Tape Shape. They cover all my redness makes my skin look less textured. Texture of elf concealer is creamy and tarte is a little bit more liquid like. Elf one is so affordable and tape shape is on high end but it’s totally worth the price for a good coverage although you could substitute with any full coverage concealer that works with your skin. I recommend both!

My favorite sheer BB cream is only $7!
So I dont wear full faces of makeup often, but when I do, I use the Maybelline Fresh BB cream! I have used foundations before, from low end to high end, and I struggled for two main reasons: My skin tone isnt even/constant so I was always mixing shades to match for each hour, and even then a perfect swatch wouldn’t fit well with the rest of my face. My undertone can be pretty grayish which contributes to unevenness , dullness, and opaque foundations looking weird on me. I tend to have quite large pores and I have had acne/acne scars, so a more opaque foundation could bring more texture. I prefer to a heavier primer/concealer(I’ll do some reviews on my fav soon) and a lighter foundation, so a sheer base tends to be what I reach for. The Maybelline BB cream is perfect for evening and brightening my skin while looking natural and pretty in the process. . It is definitely more suited as a “no makeup makeup” product but when combined with other products, you can make it look more glamorous. Its sheer enough to give an overall even look to the face and match my skin, but opaque enough to blur my skin a little and look like a light foundation. It says it adjusts to the skin which I could believe. It won’t cover up acne or dark spots completely, as seen in the third picture when I put it on my hands, but that’s expected for a sheer coverage BB cream. I tend to rely on my concealer for covering up blemishes anyways. The BB cream blends very well on the skin and wont increase the look of textures and pores, in fact doing the opposite by making my skin look less textured and smooth. It blurs well and enhanced my face without drying my skin. Theres pomegranate extract in it, which might be a plus for those interested in it. It tends to be a little bit shiny at first, not oscar award shiny but a slight sheen. It’s not a concern for me as lightly tapping it in and using powder gets rid of any shiny-ness. When paired with a good primer and setting spray, it lasts a very long time- 8 hours even when I was in the hot 100 degree weather outside. I touched it up with some powder and spray after 8 hours and it looked good as new. There is some SPF in it, which is nice. Its not enough to replace an actual sunscreen, but when paired with sunscreen in your skincare routine and other makeup products with spf in it, it can help a lot in preventing damage especially if you go outside a lot. And finally, it’s at a great price. $7 is pretty good for a foundation/bb cream, and I tend to get it cheaper at my local grocery store. It does everything it claims to do, and is affordable. Its worth it in my opinion. My only concern with the product is I wish there are more shade ranges available. The sheerness and color adjusting quality helps increase the amount of people who can use it, but I think more shades should come out to make sure everyone can use it. Maybelline has came out with more shades in their other products, so this might be next hopefully. MAYBELLINE - Dream Fresh BB Cream 8-In-1 Skin Perfector SPF 30

♥️ AMAZING NEW COMPLEXION PRODUCTs♥️
This is a brand new foundation launch from L’Oreal. It is called their age perfect radiance serum foundation and it is meant for more mature skin types who also tend to be dry yet still want coverage. L'ORÉAL - AGE PERFECT MAKEUP Radiant Serum Foundation SPF 50 is new to my collection and has been my absolute favorite foundation that I’ve tried in a long time. I personally don’t have mature skin but I do have dry skin and I find this weird beautifully on me and the shade match is spot on. I do have quite a few lines even though I don’t have mature skin and I find that this doesn’t settle into any of them it just smooth out all of my texture on my skin. L'ORÉAL - Age Perfect Radiant Concealer in this line completely stole my heart though. I like I mentioned I do have fine lines underneath my eyes and this does not settle into them which is huge because every single concealer ever tried does. It is only a light to medium coverage but I don’t mind that because I love how this looks on my skin. Combination of these two products are phenomenal and I would highly recommend anybody with dry skin or more mature skin that is looking for something that will not accentuate texture and won’t settle into your fine lines.

👏 Amazing foundations for Oily Skin! 👏
These are my absolutely go to foundations for my oily skin from the drugstore. They vary in finish and coverage so I’ll break it down below. 1. wet n wild - Photofocus Liquid Matte Foundation this foundation is a great option if you want a break from the traditional matte foundation oily girls/ guys typically go for. Of course, stay away from this in the summer months and apply a mattifying primer to extend wear. The coverage is a medium but can be easily built. It doesn’t have a pump, but rather a strange plastic applicator. I don’t use it because I don’t find it the most sanitary. There’s a great variety of shades for a drugstore option! $8 at Walmart. ☺️ 2. MAYBELLINE - Fit Me Matte + Poreless Liquid Foundation another great option at the drugstore, with a matte finish. This foundation is only $6 at Walmart and it’s comparable to high end products! It wears beautifully and provides a medium coverage and doesn’t look cakey at all. It’s matte but not dry which is key! My only issue is that packaging in Canada/ US is the glass bottle without a pump. 3. L'ORÉAL - Infallible Fresh Wear 24HR Foundation this is a great great option if you’re looking for a soft natural finish! A great medium between a dewy and matte foundation. Again, I wouldn’t wear this when it’s exceptionally warm and humid but it’s amazing for the winter months when my skin is more combo than oily! As always, I prep my skin well and set as necessary (powder+ spray). There’s a good option of shades. The only thing is, there is a smell to the foundation that may not be for everyone.
