Been in love with figuring out skincare since I was a pimply tween. Nodular acne is the friend I can’t cut out of my life, but I keep trying 🖤

Not “The Solution” : Glossier Skincare Flops
Not “The Solution” : Glossier Skincare Flops
Buying a pricy chemical exfoliator from a higher end and popular brand, I didn’t think I would have to work so hard to make this product work for my skin. 💎💎 Glossier. - Solution Exfoliating Skin Perfector ⭐️ First, I have sensitive oily skin prone to redness, and I really hoped that the niacinamide, glycerin, and aloe would help ease the potency of the ingredients on my skin. But this instantly tingled/burned and gave me a flush of redness. 💥 ⭐️ Second, I have used chemical exfoliators in cleansers and toners for years, so I have built the necessary tolerance to use chemical exfoliators; especially one marketed for sensitive skin, and daily. (FYI - Chemical exfoliators should be used 1x-3x a week, or you can damage your skin barrier and do permanent damage 👀) ⭐️ Unfortunately, after nearly two months, I found myself working very hard to use this product and I still experience some tingling/slight burning. I wasn’t about to waste $25+ so I had to cover for what this exolfiant could not 💸 - I combine it with the most calming and hydrating products to soothe my redness and nourish my skin to make my skin capable of absorbing “The Solution” without a reaction: Layering my toner between steps (ETUDE HOUSE - Etude House SoonJung pH 5.5 Relief Toner ) Hylauronic acid serum (Glossier. - Super Bounce ) Moisturizer (e.l.f. - Hello Hydration! Face Cream, 1.8 oz (50 G) ) - I also make sure to not swipe with a cotton pad, but pat the product into my skin (game changer!) ⭐️ Overall, “The Solution” does what an average chemical exfoliator does and it’s really not the magic ✨solution it claims to be. It has taken two months to see real effective results that make a difference in my acne. And even using this product I was breaking out like normal, as if I was not using anything at all some weeks. I even got whiteheads, which is strange since I had been exfoliating like normal. I had to go in with more to see the exfoliating effects, making me think this is fairly ineffective at its one job - exfoliating. Which is strange because 5% is the recommended concentration for daily use, and this is at 10%? Which makes me think Glossier is encouraging over use to compensate for ineffectiveness and make you use this product faster. Seems sketch 💅🏼 - The more often I use this product with this careful routine, the better my results with little redness and tingling. - I use “The Solution” 1x-3x a week depending on how my skin is feeling - Since I got some good results, the packaging was wonderful and innovative, and it was very easy to incorporate into a skin care regimen, I did find this to be a semi good product. I would buy it again if it was cheaper or better formulated. - if you like Glossier, need a basic exfoliator, already have a good sense of what your skin needs, and have pretty tough skin, then go ahead. Don’t expect too much magic ✨

You Need An Oil -Based Cleansers: Deep + Gentle
You Need An Oil -Based Cleansers: Deep + Gentle
🤍BANILA CO - Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm Original stole my heart - this cleanser is so amazing for deep cleansing, make up removal and sunscreen. As you gently massage the balm onto your skin it melts into a milky clear oil that works into the skin smoothly with no clumping or grains. You can massage pressure points on your face for effective lymphatic drainage. Even comes with a little scoop! ⭐️ For a quick and brightening at-home facial 💆🏽‍♀️ massaging gently for 15 minutes focusing on different sections of your face. The sebum plugs and blackheads around my nose and cheeks literally fall out and it’s so satisfying, but kind of gross 😅 - Check out L.A. Beautyologist on YouTube for her Deep Oil Cleansing Routine 🖤 - Sherbert-like cleanser is infused with vitamin C 🍊and A-rich acerola extract, papaya extract, rooibos leaf extract, and bamboo extract - Formulated without: • Parabens • Sulfates • Phthalates • Mineral oil • Alcohol • Artificial coloring 🤍 As someone with very oily skin shouldn’t I stay away from “oil based cleansers” - a common misconception, but water is effective to remove excess face oils because water and oil molecules naturally repel one another. So in order for typical water-based cleansers 💦 to remove naturally occurring facial oils, water-based products often have surfactants that may be harsh and stripping for many sensitive-faced folks like myself :) - The Tea 💅🏼 Many companies capitalize on our lack of knowledge surround oil-based cleansing and market products as “oil-free” making us think they will work better for our oily skin. This marketing, just perpetuates the idea that oil is bad for your skin, when we should be seeking to nourish our skin, not strip it. 🤍 What if I have combination/dry skin, I don’t want to get rid of whatever moisture I have? - Luckily, many oil cleansers are very moisturizing and help reinforce our natural skin barrier, as most oil-cleansers are not made to be stripping. Korean skin care is traditionally centered around the idea of hydrating, calming, and nourishing. They incorporate natural and unique ingredients like Cica, Snail Mucin, and Green tea 🍵. Great gentle cleansers to explore: dear, klairs - Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil PURITO - From Green Cleansing Oil DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil - To ensure you’re getting the most effective ingredient for your skin type look at the differences between linoleic and oleic acids naturally occurring chemicals on our skin! Depending on your skin type you may be deficient in linoleic or oleic acids, and they are wonderful soothing and smoothing ingredients. *Don’t get obsessed researching, 👩🏽‍💻💭 but it’s good to know what your skin is lacking (i.e. hydration). best way to see if a product works for you is to try it yourself ⭐️ these are recommendations that I love as a skin care junkie, if you have suggestions, seek to educate, not berate anyone ⭐️
