I was so excited to try this yesto - Tea Tree Soothing Instant No-Rinse Shampoo Cap and was inspired to purchase it when I saw that it was on sale at Target. My scalp has been really dry lately, so the promises on this products label were very promising. This cap claimed to give relief to dry and itchy scalps. This product was literally just a shower cap, and I was expecting it to have essence inside, similar to a face mask, but the inside of the cap was barely damp. I still figured I would give it a shot, so I put it on before I showered and rubbed the “product” into my scalp like the directions prompted. After I left it on for 15 minutes and took it off, my hair was instantly greasy and not at all refreshed like this cap claimed it would be. I thought my hair might just be damp from the “essence” but when I woke up the next morning my hair was SO tangled up (even though I had it in a braid all night) and frizzy. I felt like I had 10 pounds of product in my hair after I used this, it was gross. I definitely would not recommend this product. Although the price point is cheap and appealing for a hair product, it didn’t do anything for me. If anything, it made my dry scalp worse! Stay away.

I’m such a huge fan of Korean skin care products, and this manefit - Natural Gift Green Tea Pore Care Sheet Mask did not disappoint! This is a two part hydrogel mask that is infused with whole green tea leaves to ensure that your skin is getting high quality ingredients straight from the source. Green tea is a natural antioxidant that cools, de-puffs and soothes acne-prone skin. This mask fit my face so well since it is two pieces, and soothed my redness instantly. It was calming and relaxing, and the hydrogel was such a cool alternative to a regular sheet mask. It’s $5 for a single mask, which is a bit pricey but this thing works wonders! I would 100% recommend it.

You’ve got to love a good Lip Scrub, especially in the winter time! This EARTH GIRL - Organic Peach Ginger Lip Scrub --- The Ultimate Lip Elixir is absolutely amazing! This scrub is made with 100% all natural and organic ingredients, and it’s even edible! You rub this on your lips and either wash it or lick it off. Sweet peach and spicy ginger serve up antioxidants to protect your lips from dryness and chapping. For $10 a scrub these are totally worth it! The jar is fairly large and you can get a ton of uses out of it! I would 100% recommend this product

Okay wow. The Soo'AE - Purifying Black Charcoal Mask is just amazing. I’m such a huge fan of sheet masks, but I was so pleasantly surprised by this one. First of all, I love that it’s a two part mask. There are two separate pieces for the forehead area and the mouth area, which makes the mask fit your face so nicely! You’re supposed to leave this mask on for 15-20 minutes which seems like a long time, but this masks is so soothing and relaxing! It’s formulated using Korean binchotan charcoal, which is a renowned anti-inflammatory that purifies skin while brightening the complexion. I love this aspect of the mask, it’s so calming for agitated skin or redness. It’s also got cultured green tea extract and green caviar extract to recharge, hydrate and boost skin elasticity. This mask is less than $3 and I 100000% recommend it!

I’d rather get coal than the HUDA BEAUTY - Resting Boss Face Waterproof Setting Spray I was so excited to try this product, and it sounded amazing but no, just no. Tho waterproof setting spray claims to be extra hold, but honestly my makeup was melted off by the end of my shift. It is so heavily scented that I got a headache almost instantly after spraying it. Not to mention it’s like setting your face with a can of hairspray. I was gifted this product, thank goodness because I would have been upset if I purchased it. That being said, I didn’t read the details or reviews prior to being sent this. The details do claim that this product is “inspired by a makeup hack used by some drag queens, who set their hard work and elaborate face makeup with hairspray for lasting hold.” Which would be okay, if this actually set your makeup and gave you a lasting hold.. The biggest factor for me and my dislike for this product is the scent. It’s so strong and overpowering it’s all I smelled all day and I was tempted to wash my face and makeup off multiple times through out the day to save me from smelling it. This is a $33 product, which is pretty average for setting sprays. But, if you’re going to consider buying this, you might as well just reach for the can of hair spray you probably already have in your cabinet.

This week is all about fighting black heads and sebum! Bioré - Ultra Deep Cleansing Pore Strips with Witch Hazel work to instantly unclog and purify pores by binding to blackheads and not your skin. The recommended use for this product is once a week, and with continued usage they claim to actually reduce and shrink the size of your pores! These strips are meant to work like a magnet to remove dirt, oil and yes, blackheads too. At about $6 a box, or $1 a strip, these are phenomenal. They’re dermatologist tested and they really do work. Even if you don’t have a ton of blackheads, and you’re just looking for a cleaner feel in your t-zone area, I would highly recommend these strips!

CAUDALIE - Vinopure Natural Oil Control Moisturizer also called the mattifying fluid is a thin ‘moisturizer’ that has oil control properties. I have moisturizer in quotes because it is more like a water based serum to me. It’s very thin and absorbs into the skin fast. It’s great for pre- makeup application. This isn’t enough hydration for dry skin but all other skin types are ok! This product contains natural silica powders to control oil and keep you matte. The scent is very strong, but nice. It has the typical caudalie essential oil scent. This would be great for those with oily skin, enlarged pores and blemishes but I have pretty normal skin and still use this. I work overnight in the hospital and sometimes I have to run around and get a bit sweaty. This product helps keep my face pretty matte throughout the night. It definitely doesn’t prevent you getting oily but it helps. I like it as a makeup primer. It’s expensive but you don’t need much product in my opinion. I do also love the origins matte moisturizer a bit more which is $20. 👍🏻 I switch back and forth between the two. I think this is great for sensitive skin too as long as you aren’t sensitive to essential oils in products. 💚

yesto - Detoxifying Charcoal Paper Mask was a no go for me. I’ve tried many yes to products and I’ve never been a fan of any of the charcoal sheet mask versions they have released. They have the 3-in-1 and the bubbling mask too. The charcoal masks (yes to tomatoes) always burns my eyes as soon as I put the sheet mask on. I kept it on (with eyes closed) and didn’t see any noticeable difference to my skin. The fit of the mask is ok, nothing great but not the worst fit. It is easy to apply. This mask is good for oily/combo/blemish prone skin. It contains 96% natural ingredients and aims to give you clear skin. It is formulated without parabens and silicones. It contains charcoal, tomatoes, witch hazel, aloe, watermelon and ginger. Yes To is cruelty free! The mask contains perfume which I’m not crazy about also. This product can be found at drug store and grocery stores.

I’d rather get coal than the HERBIVORE - Emerald Deep Moisture Glow Oil 🤨😫 I was gifted this by Cherie (thanks guys) and I was so excited because I’ve wanted to try CBD skincare since the trend started but CBD products are typically pretty expensive so I never purchased any. I used this two nights in a row. I wasn’t crazy about the smell.. it’s very earthy. The texture is typical of an oil and definitely left the skin pretty oily (I don’t mind at night). The packaging is beautiful and luxe like all of herbivores products. The next days after using I developed many pimples around my lips and jawline. This was the only product new to me so I know it had to be this. This was weeks ago and I’m still working on clearing the breakout! This was one of my biggest regrets because my skin was actually perfect before this.. the best it’s been ever! I’m hoping to get back to that 🙏🏻 This product is $58. It contains 100mg CBD along with hemp seed oil and adaptogens. I honestly don’t know which ingredient triggered my breakout because they are all new to me. This isn’t recommended for oily skin but all other skin types it can be used for. It’s targeted towards those with redness, dryness and texture.
