Tea Tree Water Collection #CherieParter 🍃
Hey y’all! So I love Korean skin care and their products are usually hits for me! Within the last 4weeks I’ve been using Some by Mi Tea Tree water products. And I have thoughts! To start I have sensitive combo skin and some of the problems I’ve been facing as of late are random breakouts. I’ve been moving and been under a lot of stress so I’ve been looking for some products to help combat. I first heard about Some by Mi on Soko Glam. Soko Glam is my fav skin care plug lol! They have such a wide variety of products. So first we have the SOME BY MI - AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Toner

Sade.s.aHi! I use the serum 2-3 times a week and usually at night because I have my set morning serums. I haven’t heard anyone say anything about using it during the day but I would suggest at night to be safe. Some serums with gentle exfoliants could make your skin sensitive to sunlight so be mindful of that! I hope this helps ❤️

Relieving Bumpy Skin
Prior to using acids and chemical exfoliants, I experienced acne and persistent bumps (closed comedones) on my cheeks and forehead. I couldn’t figure out how to treat and handle them until I came across some videos and resources recommending chemical > physical exfoliants. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Long story short, it really helped with my frequent breakouts and I’ve noticed that my skin feels much smoother to the touch after consistent use in intervals. (1-3 times a week MAX). If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to let me know! Please Don’t Mix These!
Acids (actives) and retinol are awesome skincare ingredients. They can do a lot for your skin, such as increasing cell turnover, lightening acne and dark spots, smoothing texture, help acne, and exfoliating dead skin. However, it’s important to know what products you can mix and what you can’t. For example, you don’t want to include retinol in your skincare routine at the same time as an exfoliating toner, overnight exfoliating treatment, or acid spit treatment. What I’m saying is you don’t want to wash your face, tone with the YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner , apply a retinol serum such as THE inkey LIST - Retinol Serum , and then use GOOD MOLECULES - Overnight Exfoliating Treatment or DERMA•E - Acne Blemish Control Treatment Serum . Not a good idea!! Why? Using these products together can cause over-exfoliation. Over-exfoliation goes beyond the typical bit of peeling and sensitivity that introducing retinol or acids can sometimes cause. You could end up with significant peeling, irritated spots, chemical burns, or any other adverse reaction specific to your body. I have over-exfoliated before by using the YTTP toner multiple days in a row. I had irritated, itchy, dry skin and little bumps formed on my forehead. Oops! It happens. But it could have been prevented. That’s why it’s important to read up on what skincare ingredients should and shouldn’t be mixed. Still want to use retinol and acids? Of course you can, but don’t use them at the same time! Apply your exfoliating toner (maybe not as strong as the YTTP one, though) in the AM and retinol or exfoliating serum in the PM. Or try applying 1 one day and another the next. Use your acne spot treatment alone. Most importantly, pay attention to your skin type and how it is reacting. If you have sensitive skin, you probably can’t exfoliate/use retinol even that frequently. I have dry skin, so I exfoliate and/or use retinol (never same day) 1-2x/week.

Cheap Glow Must Have!!
I have combination oily skin that occasionally gets dry when the weather changes or just randomly when it decides to. My skin concern is acne scars (why my skin looks dull). I mainly have them along one side of my cheek. I received the GOOD MOLECULES - Niacinamide Brightening Toner as part of a giveaway I won on Instagram and another one as part of a PR package from them. . Key Ingredients: Niacinamide (visibly brightens and improves the appearance of enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, dullness and blemishes), Licorice Root Extract (Soothes inflammation and inhibits excess melanin production), Naturally Derived Arbutin (improves the look oh hyperpigmentation), and Stable Form of Vitamin C (boost’s skin’s ability to defend itself against free radical damage and promotes collagen production). . Scent: None . Consistency/Texture: Liquid . Price: $14 for 120 mL / 4 fl oz . Experience: I have been using this a couple times a week for two months and have noticed an improvement in my acne scars! I use it typically 3-5 times a week (sometimes in the morning, sometimes at night, depending what else I’m using in that routine). After using it for this long and often, I still have about a fourth of the bottle left, so it definitely lasts a while. I’ve used it with both cotton rounds and as suggested using your hands and patting into skin and enjoy it both ways. It doesn’t sting or hurt at all, I love that it’s an alcohol-free toner. I’ve also noticed that even though I’ve still gotten some breakouts, I haven’t gotten as dark of scars afterwards. . Repurchase/Recommend: Definitely, it can be used AM and/or PM. It targets all of my main areas of concerns, like uneven skin tone, dullness, and visible pores, while also strengthening your skin barrier’s function. It also corrects the look of hyperpigmentation and soothes inflammation, while having Vitamin C! My skin seems to love this, plus I love how it’s so budget-friendly, will definitely purchase it!!

Why You SHOULD Mix AHA, BHA, And Retinol
I’ve read sooo many myths about the use of retinol. One, that it aggravates the skin as it’s a very active exfoliant. Two, is that you can’t use it during daytime as your skin will burn. Three, being that you definitely cannot use it with other active ingredients such as AHAs and BHAs. Are any of these right? Wrong. In fact, all these three ‘myths’ are all incorrect. Retinol has been getting its fair share of spotlight in the beauty world because of the wonders it can do to our skin. At the same time, a number of incorrect info about it is also making its circle on the internet. One skincare resource that I trust and use all the time is Paula’s Choice website. They hace the best info on skincare ingredients that are backed by science. Let’s get one thing right- retinol and AHA/BHA CAN be used together. In fact, it is recommended for them to be used together. Why? AHAs and BHAs help retinol do its job more efficiently as these types of acids remove dead skin cells by exfoliating them, revealing a fresher, more youthful layer of skin. With the absence of a thick layer of old skin, retinol can then penetrate the skin better and be absorbed more effectively by our facial skin. The Inkey List is fairly new in the market but has gained popularity because of its friendly price tag and the fact that the products work efficiently. For this combo, I like using up a trusted K-Beauty AHA/BHA toner like this one from COSRX, then layer the retinol cream on top of it. If I use this in the morning, I make sure I slather my face with sunscreen with SPF 50. This works perfectly on my dry combination skin! Guys lets talk about AHA’s and BHA’s . Do you have HYPERPIGMENTATION, rough texture, acne scars, surface issues, uneven skin, THIS is what you need . Have you been using Physical Exfoliation with little salt beads will this is an upgrade . Yes , it is stranger but trust me it’s much more effective. You will see an improvement in 2 weeks . When you first buy your AHA BHA use them once or twice a week because this is Strong STUFF for me not to use another word you know what I am saying . Ok on a serious note your AHA is going to help with your surface skin problems . Your BHA is going to get deeper and kill that acne bacteria and prevent breakouts . I ONLY USE MY ACIDS PM TIME (NIGHT ) WHEN YOU USE THESE ACIDS IN THE DAY YOU HAVE TO PUT SPF . Or you will irritate your skin more . I would recommend telling yourself that this products are for your night routine . GOOD LUCK ON YOUR SKIN JOURNEY Cheers to beautiful flawless skin Youth to the People 11% Toner - Really left me speechless the first time I tried it . I couldn’t believe how effective it was with only one use . Your sky looks brighter with an hour totally RECOMMEND. Just to make this clear do not use these two products together they are use separately because you could over exfoliate and irritate your skin . Brightening Essences For Different Skin Types
Combination skin people, can I get an ‘aye’? If you’ve got combination skin, you’ll know that selecting which products to use is not so straightforward. Here are three essences that I’ve used in the past (and in the present) that are great for different skin types. With FIKÄ Brightening Essence With FIKÄ was given to me by my boyfriend after his Korea trip. It was his first time seeing the brand and he thought this essence was pretty unique since it comes with a pump bottle. The texture is also more akin to a lotion or cream, unlike most regular essences. I actually like using this product because it really works on the brightening aspect. It’s also light enough that I actually use this in the morning. Plus, the price is very affordable, costing less than $10 for 50ml worth of product. NACIFIC - Phyto Niacin Whitening Essence Nacific’s Phyto Niacin Essence is my current PM routine essence. It contains Niacinamide, which, if you’ve already read some of my other reviews, is a favorite ingredient of mine. Niacinamide works so well on my skin that I still get amazed every day. The consistency of this product is a bit thicker than water, but it’s still pretty watery. I love how smooth it makes my skin. When combined with other niacinamide products, I think it really does a great job of lightening my dark spots and acne scars. MISSHA - Time Revolution First Treatment Essence Intensive Moist I’ve already finished two bottles of this product and it’s one of my favorite products ever. And I mean ever. It’s totally on my HG list. It’s hydrating but not heavy at all, so you can easily use this in the morning. At $50 per 150ml bottle, it’s a great dupe for a much more expensive essence, the SK-II Essence, which retails for around $100. The only downside to this essence? The glass packaging. It looks nice, yes, but it’s extremely fragile. I dropped my newly-bought third bottle from my dresser one morning and it shattered into a million pieces. It’s the first time that ever happened to me so yes, ya gurl kinda cried a bit. That’s also why I haven’t bought another one yet. Traumatizing, really. All these products are pretty good, especially if you just want to hydrate and brighten your skin. WithFIKÄ works great on dry skin, Nacific works well for dry and normal skin, while Missha works perfectly for those with normal and oily skin.

Step 2: Toners 💚
Product 1: ALAFFIA - Everyday Coconut, Face Toner, Purely Coconut, Normal to Dry Skin So, after I cleanse, I tone. Is it necessary? Nah... but I personally like this step because this is the first product that comes into contact with your skin right after you cleanse! This product I found at Nugget (and also Sprouts). I’ll be honest, I thought shopping in a grocery store with organic products would lead me to better skincare products. I was really just trying to find something gentle (and cheap) enough to try one day, and I found this! Neem is the top ingredient. I had never heard of this ingredient in skincare until I stumbled upon this. Some benefits of neem include vitamin E and fatty acids (good for hydration and fighting wrinkles/boosting collagen), anti-inflammatory & anti-bacterial (good for acne), and it is also known to balance out melanin secretion (which helps lighten hyperpigmentation). I’d like to say this helped with my acne and dark spots, but, like I mentioned in my cleanser post, I use a concoction of thangs on my face that all help with that... so it’s hard to pinpoint any single item, ya feel?? How I use it: cleanse, pat dry my face, then I spritz this and allow it to air dry. I use this every AM and most PMs. Product 2: The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution ATTN: please read about AHAs before trying this product! This is a chemical exfoliant... the more harsh of the 3 I’ve learned about (lactic acid being more gentle and mandelic acid being even more gentle than both exfoliants). The reason why glycolic acid can be more harsh is due to the molecular size. Glycolic acid has a smaller molecular size which means it sinks deeper into the skin. Whilst the other 2 AHA’s have larger molecular sizes so that it doesn’t penetrate too deep into the skin making it a better option for those who have sensitive skin. These chemical exfoliants are used to help detach dead skin cells that may be sitting happily on your face and causing break outs. We love AHAs! It’s just a matter of finding which works for you. I’d recommend starting off with the mandelic acid OR pixi - Glow Tonic . I personally have never tried mandelic acid because I already knew my face could handle glycolic acid from using Pixi’s Glow Tonic. The difference between Pixi’s Glow Tonic and TO Glycolic Acid Toning Solution is 1. The amount of glycolic acid that’s in each solution and 2. Pixi’s Glow Tonic has more ingredients mixed in with the glycolic acid I’m assuming to make it more gentle. Fair warning, Pixi’s Glow Tonic has fragrance in it. How I use it: Okay sooooo, I use this when my skin asks me to. Sounds weird, but y’all know what I mean right? Lol. Liiike, if I feel a break out coming on or if I just feel like my skin needs a little extra treatment, I’ll use this in my PM routine after I cleanse. For me, the next morning, I’ll notice a difference. Anyone else use these products? 😊 Xoxo Xenia
