Dear Lactic Acid,

Dear Lactic Acid, Why do you hate me? 🥺 We all know the wonderful benefits of lactic acid: exfoliation of dead skin cells, stimulating collagen, reducing hyperpigmentation. Loved by so many, the Lactic Acid HATES me. I tried loving this exfoliant but upon giving it many tries (and 💵) I’ve given up. I have taken breaks from using it, completely removing it from my routine, and as soon as I give it a try, I wake up with new bumps on my face that turn into pimples that never come out to surface. So here’s the thing - it just doesn’t work for me, and I have determined one ingredient (out of God knows how many) that breaks me out - yay me 😒 If this only happened before I dropped some serious cash on Sunday Riley Lactic acid treatment. Oh well! While I was trying to treat my PIH and texture, I was breaking out with new additions to the crisis. 🥴 My piece of advice based on this experience - if you are treating your skin concerns but keep breaking out - try to determine if one of the products you are using is breaking you out, hopefully the reaction reveals itself the next day so the damage can be limited. The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA
I really wanted to love this like so many users do, halfway through the bottle I realized it’s breaking me out. Difficult to say if it’s helped out my hyperpigmentation as the new breakouts were showing up pink SUNDAY RILEY - Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment
no luck with this guy either. I was so excited to try this, I had high hopes this product would transform my skin. I find that I was developing ‘under the skin’ acne when using this product. I have gone back to basics - Salicylic acid toners and every so often Professionally done peels. I find that using gentle products at home and avoiding harsh acids has helped me keep my breakouts in check. Anyone else not being able to get along with Lactic Acid? 😄 What is your favourite exfoliant?

*DUPE ALERT* $6.8 Get Baby Skin!!! 🔥
Did you know that skincare dupes at a low price can be as effective for treating skin conditions as high-end products? More often than not, when we purchase products from a high-end skincare line, we end up paying for the brand, not necessarily the ingredients. I actually bought a lot of skincare dupes and some of them really amazed me. Well, let’s jump into the subject! 🤟🏽HIGH-END LUXURY SKINCARE🤟🏽 SUNDAY RILEY - Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment is one of my favorite skincare products. I definitely do not love the steep price, but this skin brightener provides the most consistent results every time I use it. ✔️Product Details: Skin Type: Normal, Dry, Combination, and Oily Skincare Concerns: Fine lines and wrinkles, Pores, Dark spots Formulation: Serum Price: $122.00 The treatment is formulated with purified lactic acid, a hydrating alpha-hydroxy acid. This is the star ingredient that exfoliates the surface layers of the skin improving skin clarity. It clears away dead skin cells and excess oil and reveals brighter skin. It also helps to reduce the appearance of discoloration and dark spots. Licorice brightens, lemongrass works as an astringent (plus gives it a fantastic herbal/citrus scent) and arnica is soothing. My skin is much more brighter and radiant. I can tell how much smoother and clearer my skin has gotten. 🤟🏽AFFORDABLE DUPES🤟🏽 The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA that works similarly to Good Genes. ✔️Product Details: Skin Type: Normal, Oily, Combination, and Dry Solutions for: - Uneven skin tone - Fine lines and wrinkles - Dullness and uneven texture Price: $6.80 Brands like the Ordinary have been making waves these two years by really focusing on delivering skincare based on ingredients with an unbeatable price. Trust me, the Ordinary is extraordinary! It exfoliates dead skin cells and reveals brighter, smoother, younger-looking skin. Purified Tasmanian pepperberry helps to reduce inflammation and skin sensitivity that can come along with lactic acid. Sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer works to hydrate and plump the skin. It is a smaller form of hyaluronic acid and able to provide moisture deeper into the layers of the skin than hyaluronic acid. I could feel results as soon as the morning after applying it. I woke up to super soft and smooth skin. And I feel like the baby skin is on the way LOL... 👌🏽Conclusion👌🏽 When it comes to price, The Ordinary is extremely affordable compared to Sunday Riley Good Genes. Even if you alternate it with Good Genes here and there, you will save money and still get the benefits from lactic acid. The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA so inexpensive that it’s worth picking up a bottle and seeing if it provides some benefits for your skin before shelling out the $$$ for Good Genes. Sharing is caring. 💕

SUNDAY RILEY HYPE
Guys! This is seriously a gift. I have seen such a difference in my skin. I feel like my skin looks smoother, my pores have gotten a little smaller, and I seem to have a more even texture. This is the only new addition to my many skin care routines, so I definitely am thinking it’s due this serum. Look out because I’m going to be posting so many of my routines very soon 💕 SUNDAY RILEY - Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment I am loving this so far. I truly see a difference. It can be a little hard to rub into the skin. I do wish it was a bit easier to get an even spread. I find that if I put tiny dots everywhere then I get better coverage. Before I really rub it in, I put one of my night serums with it and it’s easier to get even coverage. If it was easier to get even coverage then I would totally give it 5 stars. And the fact that it’s ridiculously expensive 😩😩 BUT my mini one has lasted me for a hot min now. I use it day and night. So I might be cheap and just keep getting the travel size one hahaha. The key ingredients are gold 🙌🏼 What it is: An all-in-one AHA treatment, powered by lactic acid, that clarifies, smooths, and retexturizes the appearance of skin. Skin Type: Normal, Dry, Combination, and Oily Skincare Concerns: Fine lines and wrinkles, Pores, Dark spots FOR ALL SKIN TYPES: Apply 1-3 pumps to clean, dry skin, day or night, as a leave on treatment. FOR SENSITIVE SKIN: Use as a mask. Apply 1-3 pumps to clean, dry skin and leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse well and pat dry. KEY INGREDIENTS PURIFIED LACTIC ACID: One of the most hydrating Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), Lactic Acid exfoliates the surface layers of the skin, revealing a more clarified, fresher, smoother, younger-looking complexion. Helps fight a build-up of dead skin cells and excess sebum, which can lead to skin bumps, dullness, skin congestion, blackheads, and eventually, acne. Helps diminish the look of discolorations and dark spots. LICORICE: Naturally brightening properties, licorice helps improve skin radiance. LEMONGRASS: Astringent and skin refreshing for a toned complexion. ARNICA: Soothes the skin, reducing the feeling of skin discomfort. PRICKLY PEAR EXTRACT: Rare desert cactus extract that instantly soothes skin Cruelty-Free, Sulfate-Free, Paraben-Free, Gluten-Free, Soy-Free, Phthalate-Free, Fragrance-Free, Vegan. ❤️❤️❤️ really is amazing if someone finds a dupe hit your girl up 🙏🏻

THE TRUTH ABOUT THIS PRODUCT. 🧐
Hey girl hey! So you wanna know the tea, the truth, hand on bible word of God, about this tik tok famous product The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution ? Well girl you have come to the right place. I’ll tell ya how I use it, how long I use it and the pros and cons imo. But before I dive in.... PLEASE HIT THAT FOLLOW BUTTON SIS and give ya girl a cheer! LYLAS4eva if you do. ❤️ also if you want more content, follow my IG and tik tok @bealizbeauty. K. Now that I shamelessly plugged my social media accounts, here’s the lowdown on this product. Honestly, this product has 100% changed my skin for the better BUT there are some big things to get to used to if you are up for it. No tea no shade to those who don’t want to put up with its con because the con of this “perfect” product is a pretty big con. 1. How I use it: I used this product after I cleanse my skin with DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil and I use this 2x a week on Sundays and Wednesdays. (If you want to see an in-depth skincare routine, lmk in the comments below.) Do not use this product more than 2x a week! The bottle says so! 2. How long I use it: ONLY 10 MINS! Literally follow the bottle instructions. They are there for a reason. Do not leave this on longer than that. I haven’t tried it but I don’t think it helps your skin for the better. 3. Pros: Literally dark spots who? I’ve tried everything under the sun to lighten up my dark spots and none of those products have helped lighten and get rid of my dark spots better than this product. Goodbye Acne scars! Honestly I am notorious for popping pimples and picking at my scabs. DO NOT DO THIS. I’m a creature of habit and honestly am trying to grow out of this. But this product helps with my acne scars! It shrinks the scars and scabs that there basically is nothing left for me to pick at. 4. Con: OOOOO THIS PRODUCT BURNS. I’m on my 2nd bottle and this still stings my face. The sting of this product is NO JOKE. If you have sensitive skin, I definitely do not recommend this product. My skin is made of Teflon so I’m used to the sting but it does get to me sometimes. After some high level research, Lactic acid is a great alternative. I am a huge proponent for The Ordinary as a brand so this The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA might be a pretty good alternative. So that’s the tea of this product. I’m on bottle #2 and it is one of my holy grail products. But I totally understand the aversion of this product. Let me know in the comments below what your experience has been if you have tried this product and if there are other products you have tried that has been a good alternative! LYLAS! Xoxo.

Review my PM routine!
Hello friends! I’m new here :) Figured some good opening posts would be sharing my AM and PM routines and asking for recommendations! My skin is notoriously dry and acne-prone. Throughout high school and my first couple years of college I struggled with acne and texture problems like little bumps and dry, flaky patches. Throughout the past year, though, I’ve put a lot of effort into finding products I love that help with these issues. I’m still developing my routines, but this is what I’ve been doing for about a month now and the results have been SO incredible! Keep scrolling for a look at my nighttime routine: 1. Cleanse - LUSH Sleepy Face | Naked Cleansing Balm ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I love this cleansing balm. Not only is its little face so cute, its smell is so soothing and it is incredible at dissolving makeup. It’s essentially just... oils, so it’s also very moisturizing and doesn’t strip my skin. I usually just use this to cleanse because I don’t wear any makeup 95% of the time, but if I do have a full face on I’ll use a gel cleanser first to get as much makeup off as possible 2. Exfoliate - The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA This was one of the first products that absolutely transformed my skin. I used to be a diehard exfoliating scrub user, but the upgrade to chemical exfoliation was... life-changing 3. Moisturize - belif - The True Cream-Moisturizing Bomb I bought this moisturizer for the first time over a year ago and didn’t realize what I had until months later. Now I don’t think I’ll ever stop repurchasing! I love that the formula is thick and creamy to keep my skin extra hydrated during the night. It also is a great base to mix in The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 if I’m feeling extra dry 4. Treatments - The Ordinary - Retinol 0.5% in Squalane + The Ordinary - Amino Acids + B5 I alternate using these two products from The Ordinary most nights. I’m just 21, so I’m not too obsessive about the retinol and just use it whenever I remember. The amino acids are great for maintaining my moisture barrier, but can also be irritating if I use them too often or too heavily. Another product I pretty much just use whenever I think of it 5. Eyes - belif - Moisturizing Eye Bomb + The Ordinary - Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG This is the newest addition to my routine. I was hesitant to add caffeine because my under eyes aren’t really puffy... at all... so I didn’t think I needed it. Then I learned that it can also help with pigmentation and my under eye circles are dark, to say the least. Haven’t seen results yet, but I’m willing to stick it out and see in a couple months if there’s any improvement And that’s how I keep my skin hydrated and smooth all night! Thanks for reading!

Quick Guide To Using Niacinamide For Bright Skin
Quick Guide To Using Niacinamide For Bright Skin
For someone like me who has combination skin and plenty of dark marks, niacinamide is definitely heaven-sent. Niacinamide is basically vitamin B3 in its active form. This ingredient is known to ease redness, lighten dark spots, and minimize pore appearance. Currently, I use niacinamide products regularly as part of my night routine. Prior to using this, I was using AHA products for the micro peel effect, but I stopped because I read on several blogs that niacinamide and AHA can’t be used together. So, how do I use niacinamide on my skin? I actually have two products containing this ingredient: an essence and a serum. After washing my face and applying toner, I use my palms to apply Nacific Phyto Niacin Whitening Essence. Next, I follow it up with The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I then apply eye cream to my eye area to prevent wrinkles. Lastly, I use my favorite night cream to leave my skin moisturized overnight. Nacific Phyto Niacin Whitening Essence is a lightweight essence that gets absorbed quickly into the skin. TO Niacinamide serum is a crowd-favorite for a reason – it’s very effective in brightening up the skin and lightening any hyperpigmentation. That said, some people have reported getting breakouts or other adverse products from this serum, so check the ingredients list first if you happen to be sensitive to an ingredient or two. 💋💋💋💋💋 5 out of 5 kisses for Niacinamide! I’ve been using niacinamide products for a good part of the year now and I’ve seen some noticeable differences in my skin. Niacinamide helped my skin go from dull to bright in just a short period of time. Say bye-bye to dark spots with this HG-worthy ingredient!

Why you need Niacinamide
Why you need Niacinamide
Also known as vitamin B3 and nicotinamide, Niacinamide is a water-soluble vitamin that works with the natural substances in your skin to help visibly - *minimize enlarged pores *tighten lax pores *improve uneven skin tone *soften fine lines and wrinkles *diminish dullness, and strengthen a weakened surface I don’t think there is one person out there needing help in at least one of these areas!! Niacinamide + Zinc @ $6.00 This water-based serum is has a light gel texture that absorbs quickly and layers perfectly – loads of people rate it as a primer because it instantly makes skin super smooth. Ideal for oily skin, apply it twice daily and you’ll soon notice you skin balancing out. Plus, it has the added bonus of zinc, which helps with healing blemishes. Zinc aids in healing the skin and prevents acne by regulating the activity of the oil glands. Zinc promotes a healthy immune system and the healing of tissues. It is also an antioxidant which helps to fight and prevent the formation of free radicals. Niacinamide can aid in reducing inflammation, which can help with acne, eczema and other inflammatory skin issues. It also helps regulate our natural skin oil production. And the benefits just keep coming...Niacinamide can help slow down the production of Melanin and lighten existing dark patches of skin. Additionally, Niacinamide has been shown to boost collagen, improve skin hydration levels, and even strengthen the skin to protect against environmental pollutants. When working with Niacinamide you want to use it early on in your skincare routine. Always remember- “thinnest to thickest.” Niacinamide is a serum and think of serums as extra treatments that address individual skin concerns outside of regular cleansing, toning, and moisturizing. So Niacinamide should be after toning but before moisturizing. Like most skincare products you are not going to see immediate results. Visible results can take up to 8 weeks, although you may notice a change in your skins texture. I like to use a product for 2-3 months before deciding to keep on with it or move onto something else. For me, Niacinamide will always be apart of my skincare routine. I’ve noticed positive changes in my pores, reduced acne and overall I feel it pairs well with the other products I use, boosting their effectiveness. I especially like to add mine after Cleansing, toning and then applying it after my Hyaluronic Acid. Then I follow up with my other products. There has been debate whether or not Niacinamide is safe to use with Vitamin C, but more and more information is coming to light that it is indeed safe and the two actually pair well together. It was said that Niacinamide cancelled out the effectiveness of Vitamin C, but research now indicates that unless you have overally sensitive skin, the two can be used together. Just be sure to test patch an area of your skin if you are prone to sensitivity. (Some of my facts and info were taken from: www.healthline.com)

Niacinamide is great for reducing oil and sebum production in the skin. Niacinamide is also a brightening agent which will help calm down redness and irritation in the skin. The zinc will also help reduce redness and ideation in the skin. - I like to use this product a couple times a week. After using this product for about 4 months I have seen less redness in my skin. This product really helps my acne scars and I notice that the spots go away within a couple of days. I’m almost out of this product and I already have a back up.

ALPHA ARBUTIN TO TREAT DARK SPOTS
ALPHA ARBUTIN TO TREAT DARK SPOTS
So you might’ve heard of the new kid on the block people have been raving about, The Ordinary’s Aloha Arbutin 2% + HA. I honestly love how The Ordinary just chucks hyaluronic acid into so many formulas 🙌🏽 This product is great for alllll skin types. Alpha Arbutin reduces the looks of spots and hyperpigmentation. It's used at a high two percent concentration versus a standard concentration of one percent and supported with a form of hyaluronic acid for enhanced delivery. What a lot of people don’t mention is that this also contains lactic acid at a low amount to lightly dissolve dead skin and further assist in reducing dark spots. Overall this product didn’t break me out and worked well, but I definitely prefer to stick to using my retinoid instead for my oily and acne-prone skin! Btw I have a seperate post on my holy grail retinoid which you’ve probably never seen before! Check it out Pic by @skinpatrol_ on Instagram

I have been trying the alpha arbutin 2% + HA for about a month now. I use it about 2-3 times a week a night. Alpha arbutin is suppose to help uneven skin tone and dark spots. I got this because I wanted to see it compared the their Niacinamide because Niacinamide also helps with uneven skin texture. I’m really liking the alpha arbutin texture and how it feels on my skin. The Niacinamide can sometimes feel a little too dry on my skin. I’ve noticed that the dark spots from previous acne on my chin has lightened up but that’s about it. I will continue to try this out.The Ordinary - Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA

5 Reasons Why I Love TO’s Niacinamide Serum
5 Reasons Why I Love TO’s Niacinamide Serum
I first heard about The Ordinary’s Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum when I was searching for brightening serums last year. While my combination skin rarely ever breaks out, I do have some dark marks left over from the occasional pimples that I would like to disappear, or at least, improve in appearance. So I ordered TO’s Niacinamide Serum, crossing my fingers and hoping that it’s actually effective. It’s been almost a whole year later and I’m already on my third bottle of this serum. I have to say, I love it more and more as time goes by! Here are the 5 reasons why. 1. It lightens up my dark spots. It’s not a very dramatic change, mind you, but it does lighten my dark spots quite noticeably. I guess I’ll have to use a few more bottles of this serum if I want to completely lighten them. 2. It smoothens my skin’s texture. I can't believe just how nice it is to glide your fingers over your skin and not feel any bumps! 3. It provides much-needed moisture. My skin never feels dry when I have this serum on. I think it’s successful in locking in the moisture from my essence, too. 4. It doesn’t make my skin oily. Even though it moisturizes my skin, it doesn’t make my face look oily or greasy. This is very important to me because I really like keeping my face matte. 5. It makes me look fresh in the morning. Who doesn’t like seeing that healthy glow on their face when they wake up in the morning? Definitely not me! Can you guess what my overall rating is? 💋💋💋💋💋 5 out of 5 kisses! I really enjoy using this product and I think I’ll keep using it for the future, at least until I find a worthy replacement. Hopefully not, though! If you have some dark spots and you’re having a hard time reducing their appearance, you may want to try out The Ordinary’s Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum! You can get it for only $5.90 on the Cherie website! The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Have you tried this product before? Loved it, hated it? Let me know in the comments!
