🌞my simple routine this morning🌞
Hey y’all! Here’s a quick overview of my skin care routine this morning. I had a lazy no makeup day and mostly stayed indoors. CeraVe - SA Smoothing Cleanser - I keep this cleanser in my shower so I can use it in the mornings. Love love love how gentle, yet affective it is for my acne prone skin. NATURIUM - Vitamin C Complex Serum - I love how this serum has such a high Vitamin C percentage (22%) and that it is also formulated with hyaluronic acid and vitamin E. It can be a little sticky but that goes away after application of a moisturizer. The Ordinary - Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG - Still kind of on the fence about this product. I haven’t been using it long enough or consistently enough to see any kind of a difference. I feel like I have to wait for it to completely dry then immediately put eye cream on top because if not, I feel like my eyelids start to stick to my face. Don’t know if I’ll repurchase this product but will at least finish up this bottle. CeraVe - Eye Repair Cream - Another product I’m iffy on. I love the ingredients paper but sometimes it comes out a little separated with a very watery part. I’ve gotten it in my eyes on accident a couple of times and when I have, it burns! I definitely have to be careful when applying this one. However, I love how light and not greasy it is around my eyes. Cetaphil - UVA/UVB Defense SPF50 Daytime Moisturizer - The only reason I gave this product a 4/5 instead of a 5/5 is that I sometimes notice a slight white cast on my skin. Overall it’s pretty lightweight but also gives me the hydration I need on a daily basis. What’s your favorite AM skincare product?

🦋Amazing moisturizer for oily skin🦋
Hi everybody 😊 During the summer months, my skin gets oily, like really oily. I live in the South and being outside in the humidity for even a few minutes can be enough to make anyone start to sweat. When you add makeup to the mix, my face can quickly become an oily mess. On the other hand, I can never go without a moisturizer especially as some one who is always experimenting with different retinoids and chemical exfoliants. (To me moisturizer is the second most important skin care item, behind a good SPF of course). I know if I let my skin lose moisture, it will just overcompensate with more oil. I started using LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Mat Daily Face Moisturizer for Oily Skin during the hot, humid month of August and I’m in love!! This moisturizer is awesome to layer makeup on top of and doesn’t leave me feeling as greasy at the end of the day. This has quickly become a staple product for me during the warmer months, but I don’t think it’s something I will reach for during the winter as I like to amp up the hydration when it’s cold and dry outside. Does your skin care needs change during different times of the year?

🥰 Gentle exfoliant that gave me baby soft skin❤
Hey everyone!! ❤️ The VERSED - THE SHORTCUT Overnight Facial Peel is the first Versed product I’ve ever bought and WOW! I walked by the Versed display in Target and the cute packaging caught my eye. (I know I’m a sucker for packaging). I grabbed this product first, read the box, and looked at the ingredients and was already impressed. Now a month later, I’m OBSESSED with this product. I use it about twice a week at night and the next morning my skin always feels ~so soft~! For an exfoliating peel, it has been so gentle on my skin. I also love the lightweight cream consistency! I have skin that can handle much stronger AHAs, but I think this lactic acid glycolic acid peel would work great for more sensitive skin too. I picked up VERSED - ON THE RISE FIRMING SERUM the other day while I was at Target because ever since I fell in love with this overnight peel I’ve been dying to try more Versed products. I’ve only used this serum a couple times but will post an update once I’ve been using it for longer. Do y’all know of any other great Versed products for me to try?

🔥Problem with Ordinary’s Niacinamide?🔥
Hey y’all! Quick post tonight before I go to sleep because I’m curious if anyone else has had this problem. I am over halfway through with my first bottle of The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and have loved it until tonight. A while back, I remember seeing someone’s post about not liking this niacinamide serum because it suds up unlike others. I have never had this problem until tonight. Tonight, I washed my face in the shower and once I got out I began a PM skincare routine, as usual. I applied this niacinamide serum first and noticed in the mirror that it was applying foamy and not soaking into my skin like it usually does. The only thing I can think of is my skin my have been a little bit more damp than usual because this serum was already out in my counter tonight and I reached for it immediately. Maybe I just didn’t let my skin air dry as much as usual. Has anyone else had this issue?

😳CeraVe’s lack of diversity in new tinted SPF😳
I’ve been using CeraVe - Face Sheer Tint Hydrating Sunscreen SPF 30 as soon as it first hit the shelves. I love it for when I’m running out the door and can quickly wash my face in the morning and put this on. It evens out some of my redness so I feel more put together without wearing any makeup. I also like that this is made with mineral sunscreens ingredients! However, there’s a major con to this tinted sunscreen...it only comes in one shade. I have pale skin and can make it work because I usually fake tan in the summer months. I still feel like it’s slightly too orangey for me and it would definitely be too dark for me in the winter when I usually don’t fake tan. I have noticed before if I don’t rub it in well, I’ll have a darker line on my neck/chest. Although I usually love CeraVe I’m surprised they are not getting more criticism for not releasing this product with a varying shade range so more people can use it. Even though I like the formulation, I don’t think I am going to repurchase this because it the lack of shades. I would not have even purchased this in the first place if I knew it was just one tint. Does anyone know of a similar tinted mineral sunscreen with a wider shade range? I’d like to use something slightly lighter to better match my skin and also would rather support a product that’s more inclusive. This is the only tinted sunscreen I have used before (although I have used BB creams with sunscreen and never seemed to like them).

💕organization & how to move with skincare💕
I’m moving soon and figured I should share my current organization for my skincare. I share a bathroom and wanted a way to keep all of my products to one drawer but still be able to see and have easy access to everything. I got this clear organizer from TJ Maxx (I have another for my makeup products). It fits nicely in my drawer and I love that I am able to find and pick out a product quickly. As for my cleansers, they just kind of float around everywhere. I like to keep 1-2 in my shower and 1-2 next to my bathroom sink on the counter. I just finished packing away (most of) my skin care and makeup by making sure everything was sealed to not leak and breakable packaging was wrapped up. In case you are curious, the last picture are the products that I’m leaving out and will go in my overnight bag to move. I’ll list all of this at the end because I think this selection could make a good minimal AM/PM routine on its own. But of course, I have to be more extra than that! 😉 Let me know if you want me to share my new #shelfie when I get settled at my new place! Here the list of my products I’m keeping readily available for the move: CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin NATURIUM - Vitamin C Complex Serum NATURIUM - Quadruple Hyaluronic Acid Serum 5% CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 CeraVe - Resurfacing Retinol Serum VERSED - THE SHORTCUT Overnight Facial Peel CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion

CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT | CT Hollywood Flawless
Charlotte Tilbury - Hollywood Flawless Filter I can’t live without this! When I pucked up Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter, I was expecting more of a shinnery highlight. To my surprise, it looked more like a glowy foundation. Yet on the skin, it looks more stunning than I ever thought! It has a glowy, natural finish. Unlike most highlighters that are purely glowy, this one has some slight coverage, making it blend seamlessly with foundation. I love how this layers on top of my foundation! It just looks like a natural everyday glow!I can’t live without this because it brings any makeup look a step up with a glow from within look. I also enjoy layering highlighter on top of this if I want a more intense glow. This comes in a few shades but in my opinion they need more dark shades. At first, I got a shade too dark but when I switched I was really impressed with how it blended into my skin. I’m curious to know how a lighter shade would look if I applied it to the high points of my face. This is definitely a holy grail and I would recommend this to anyone! ✨✨

Derm's sug: Pop or Not Pop, it is a question.
Acne is a very common problem. Pimples always seem to appear at the most inconvenient times. We all have been tempted to pop and squeeze it to get rid of it fast. But that is a myth. It will not go away faster. Popping pimples can even lead to bigger problems, some fatal. When you pop and squeeze a pimple at home, you can push bacteria and pus deeper into the skin, causing more redness, pain and swelling. This will cause it to take longer to heal, or heal with a scar or lead to an infection. It is potentially dangerous to pop a pimple in the “Danger Triangle” on the face, which extends from the eyes down to the upper lip, including the nose and corners of the mouth. The vessels in this area drain directly into the brain, so an infection in this area can travel right to the brain and can potentially lead to death. I once had a professor tell me the only safe way to pop a pimple is with your elbows. Since that maneuver is impossible, I think the message he was trying to get across to us was not to ever pop pimples. As a dermatologist, there are safe ways I can do it in the office using sterile instruments and proper, sterile technique to cause the least amount of trauma and to prevent infection. I have even used steroid injections to ease the appearance and symptoms of larger cystic pimples. The best way to treat a pimple is use your medications and wait for it to go away on its own, or seek help from a professional. There are many over the counter acne treatments you can try to get your pimple to resolved faster, such as products that contain salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide or retinoids. But products do not work overnight, even prescription ones take time to see great results. Please be patient.
From drug junkie to skincare junkie- here’s how
When I read a recent post about drug addiction and skincare it motivated me to finally feel comfortable enough to share my own story... I hope no one takes offense to the word “junkie” but thats what I was. I was addicted to hard drugs for 12 years, starting from when I was 16 years old. I was in and out of jail and rehabs and was living on the streets. A miracle got me detoxed and state run programs were the reason I had a place to call a home for the first year of sobriety. Today, I am almost 2 years sober and finally embracing self care and loving it ❤️ I started my journey educating myself about skincare partially because drugs destroyed my skin and I had no idea where to start. One person who really helped me start loving my skin again is Hyram. If you guys don’t know who he is look him up on YouTube or Instagram, he is amazing! @skincarebyhyram Long story short I’m so proud of where I am and appreciate the people who have helped me along the way. Recovering from drug addiction can be a painfully beautiful journey, and it starts with loving yourself. Are you applying your sunscreen correctly?
Did you know 90% of how your skin ages is directly in your control. That’s because aging is linked to sun exposure and how you protect your skin from the sun. A common question I get asked all the time is, “what is the number 1 anti-aging product?” To that I have one reply, SUNSCREEN! What is even more important is applying an adequate amount and re- applying sunscreen through the day. So what is a good amount to be fully protected? A quarter sized amount is good for the face and neck, or as long as you can spread a thin layer covering every part of the face and neck. You need 1oz for your whole body. Sunscreen should be re- applied every 2 hours if directly exposed to the sun. Sunscreen should be applied everyday rain or shine, and indoors as well. Sunscreen is the most effective anti- aging product on this planet. So let me ask you, Did you wear your SPF today? My personal favorite sunscreen elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 I use the medium tint and it adds the most beautiful glow to your skin and has no white cast. This sunscreen is perfect for acne-prone, sensitive skin types.

To inspire , educate & bring hope
My name is Ainsley. I had cystic acne and severe acne all over my face for over a year. I wanna say people brought me down because of it. Acne can be caused by a lot of components , the worst part is people treat it like a monster when it’s normal & human. I can say to any acne sufferer that you are strong and you are more than your skin and It will teach you a lot about people & yourself. You’re not alone & im sorry people are uneducated & cruel but it’s not you. Don’t cover it up with makeup in the long run it’ll make it worse , embrace it and you can get through anything you are strong powerful & unique, if only they understood they wouldn’t even say the things they do. As long as you know that’s all that matters. Anyone can talk to me if they need to or want to know more about my experience , routine I will post more about it :) I just wanted to put this out there first.
