Does Clarins really worth it, even than La Roche-Posay?

You might be noticed from the serum review, that I really cannot live without Clarins Bi-phase serum. But as a famous French brand I have heard of since I was a kid, La Roche-Posay has a higher position in my mind. Will Clarins find a seat at the table this time? Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Cooling Gel The Clarins cooling gel is also famous for its signature ingredient, organic Leaf of Life extract, and it is a powerful activator of the natural hydration process that can trigger the production of hyaluronic acid in the skin and leave our skin plumped and hydrated. I have used the Bi-phase serum with a similar package and ingredient so I decided to give this a go.This moisturizer is designed for normal to combo skin and I feel it quite comfy on my face and not greasy. It is not sticky like a gel but more like a blue sorbet which is super light and refreshing just like a blueberry jelly. It has a matte finish and the scent is also pleasing. Like most moisturizers, it also has 50ml content in it, but it is hard to spread so I use a lot every time. It works fine for me, but there are no other features, and I don’t think I will spend more dollars on it anymore. La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo(+) This DUO(+) is a moisturizer for me, but its texture is more like a lotion which is not oily at all and quite easy to be spread and absorbed, and it also gives a matte finish. As a well-rounded product, it fights bacteria that cause acne, reduces inflammation and corrects uneven skin tone. Another reason it is my fav is because of its salicylic acid, which is perfect for controlling oil secretion.I bought it from pharmacy and for just one night, my face is less oily than before and breakouts are controlled as well. My skin tone is slightly brighter than before as well. No obvious improvement of pore sizes, but I don’t demand more with its price. Compared to Clarins Cooling Gel, this La Roche-Posay DUO(+) works really well on my acne-trobled face and I kinda feel like got tricked by the concept of that cooling gel. Not all of the products from the same series are worth trying. This La Roche-Posay DUO(+) is three times cheaper and totally affordable, especially for students. If you have mild to moderate acne and maybe some acne marks, try this and you won’t regret!

It is worth every penny!
I've had the most stubborn pimples on my chin & cheeks that I've been babying for literally three weeks! They were shrinking then getting inflamed. LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Duo Dual Acne Treatmentthis cleared my skin up with only a few whiteheads and no new breakouts within a week. If you're sick of $60 skincare products that smell nice but have no actual effect, this is for you. This is an Oil-free, Fragrance-free, Paraben-free, Non-Comedogenic peroxide spot treatment, and it works like one. For some skin that might be too harsh, but for my oily, hormonal acne-prone skin, it's excellent. The best way I've found to use it as a daily, acne treatment, cleanse face, tone, then apply to the affected area. Leave it to dry out. Use it daily, day, and night. Don't use any oil products. If you're just starting out with this stuff, you can try to apply a thin layer morning or evening 1-2 times daily to affected areas. I suggest using it once a day to start until your skin gets used to it. I do think it is very strong though, so use very little and don't use this multiple times a day. Or even every night on the same part. I did moisturize before applying this, so I think that helped compensate so I don't overly dry out my skin. By day 2 or 3, you will see a reduction of the pimples. Also, the applicator is great. I like that it dispenses very little, so it's easy to control. Other ones with big dispensers end up getting wasted due to how much squeeze out. Recommended for blemishes, blackheads, and whiteheads. Dermatologist tested on sensitive skin. And while this is on the pricier side, it is worth every penny. Since using it my skin has also become less oily and less textured. The only downside is if I forget to put it on, my skin kindly reminds me by breaking out again. But that’s my fault, not the products lol. I would recommend this product to anyone with stubborn breakouts. I will repurchase!

Skincare advice from my derm
If there’s one thing I’ve learned in over ten years of dealing with acne, it’s that sometimes, over the counter products just aren’t enough. Frustratingly, the healthcare system in the US makes dermatologist visits and prescription meds very expensive. That’s why I want to share some of the advice I’ve gotten from my dermatologist. While I do use several prescription medicines to treat my acne, the tips and tricks I’ve gotten from my derm are useful for anyone dealing with the same issues as me (hormonal acne, as well as the texture and hyperpigmentation left behind). For reference, my skin is not sensitive—not sure if I was born that way or if I’ve built up a tolerance to harsh products over the years. I use a telemedicine service called Apostrophe, and before that, I used Curology. You fill out a questionnaire on your medical history and skin concerns, upload pictures of your skin, and a dermatologist reviews the information and creates a treatment plan for you. I have a whole post on why I switched from Curology to Apostrophe, but the short answer is that Apostrophe prescribes more oral medications and I wanted to try that route. I’ve had an excellent experience with both companies in terms of the detailed advice I’ve gotten from my providers. So let’s get into it! Here are some things my dermatologists have told me: Don’t pick at your skin... seriously. One of the best tips I got was to use hydrocolloid patches on acne with a head: not only does it help the bump go down way quicker, it keeps me from picking at it any further. I LOVE the COSRX - Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch and I never go without them. Look at your diet. My derm says she gives this advice to ALL her patients: limit sugar, processed carbohydrates, and dairy. She says food is not generally the main cause of acne, but it can certainly aggravate it. She also always recommends increasing consumption of fruits and vegetables. Use sun protection—it helps dark spots fade faster, and of course prevents wrinkles. My derm recommends wearing SPF 30 or higher, as well as a wide-brimmed hat when outdoors. Along with my prescription cream, which includes niacinamide and tretinoin, my derm recommends the following products: LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Duo Dual Acne Treatment, LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel, LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Purifying Foaming Cleanser,CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin,Neutrogena - Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser, LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer UV SPF 30, CeraVe - Skin Renewing Night Cream These tips and the prescription meds I received from Apostrophe, have made my face clearer than it’s been in YEARS. I’m thrilled with my progress (the before/after photos have about 90 days between them). I’m running out of space, but feel free to ask any questions in the comments! #CheriePartner

3 Skincare Must-Haves: Summer Edit
Have you been experiencing changes on your skin since summer started? Yes? Well, same here! My skin feels drier than usual and it’s the worst feeling ever! On top of that, the heat just makes things so unbearable and it gives my skin the worst case of breakouts.   Since I’m the type of gal who researches ASAP on how to solve problems like this, I came across a skincare brand called Clarins. I was so intrigued with the brand because it had so much great reviews online and so I thought, why not try their products, right?   What also captured my attention with Clarins is their product innovation and claims wherein it is stated in their website that their “pioneering formulas are continually being reinvented as plant science and technology advance—a process known as Permanent Innovation.” I mean, how cool is that?! Clarins is not the type of brand who plainly puts out products for the sake of just providing, what they do is as they progress as a company, they make sure all products are up to date which is amazing in insightful.   So after learning a bunch of stuff about the brand, I was eager to try some of the products out. I bought 5 products from Clarins, but I’ll be focusing on my top 3 summer must-haves:   1.    Clarins RE-BOOST Refreshing Hydrating Cream CLARINS - RE-BOOST Refreshing Hydrating Cream This cream-gel moisturizer is my current go-to this summer. It’s perfect because it suits my skin type and it is infused with a healthy cocktail of fruit extracts to keep skin looking healthy, glowing, and hydrated! I apply it every morning on my face and neck.   2.    Clarins Sunscreen for Face Wrinkle Control Cream SPF 50  CLARINS - Sunscreen for Face Wrinkle Control Cream SPF 50 Of course, since it’s summer, we need sun protection more than ever! This sunscreen from Clarins is such a huge life saver as it has SPF 50 – yes, you read that right, 50! I love how it’s lightweight and not heavy on my face. It also goes well with makeup application.   3.    Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Cooling Gel CLARINS - Hydra-Essentiel Cooling Gel  I interchange this cooling gel with the hydrating cream from time to time especially during times when it’s hot out. This moisturizer restored radiance to my oh-so-ever dry skin, while promoting a shine-free complexion. This product has Organic Leaf of Life extract—a succulent plant that enhances the skin’s ability to retain proper moisture which leaves skin fresh, supple, and hydrated. I use this even at night as well before I go to bed!   I hope this post serves as a helpful insight to people who are in need of a new skincare summer routine.

My Favorite Summer Beauty Products
CLARINS - Hydra-Essentiel Bi-Phase Serum CLARINS - Hydra-Essentiel Cooling Gel Summer is so adorable and I love it so much for its beautiful beaches, sunshine, and delicious ice creams. Everything is just fine except for the hot weather that tortures us all the time. Our skin is delicate and like most of us, it cannot bear with the high temperature, sometimes humid air as well.    I have combination skin and what I normally use in a routine is a gentle cleanser, a powerful serum, and a moisturizer that doesn’t clog my pores. But when summer comes, I switch my routine to a simple combination of some lightweight, quenching products. That’s something my face can handle and definitely won’t make things messy.    What I recommend and have also tried and works for me, is a super-hydrating serum and a gel-like moisturizer from Clarins. This series is so dope that all products have the same beautiful light floral scent and that kind of texture you definitely gonna love. The serum has two layers and before using, just shake the bottle and mix two layers together and pump it. It has a smooth silky feeling on the face and quenches my skin thirst in a very effective way and doesn’t make my T-zone too oily. I know that’s what people with combo skin type worry about, but no, I love it just because it won't make it worse while providing sufficient hydration. I apply this serum directly after cleansing, morning and night, and then to my moisturizer.    This moisturizer is actually called ‘cooling gel’, for its cooling and soothing effect. It is a blue sorbet-like moisturizer and is super easy to smooth on the face after the serum. I really like its matte touch on my face, very very light and comfortable. My face feels quite supple and rehydrated, and there is also an immediate cool feel on my face as well. Now I use these every day until summer goes.    If you are satisfied with your regular skincare routine, there is no need to change but when the season changes, our face, and body require more and we need to care more about it, like whether to change the routine and products or simply use warm/cold water to wash face. These two work for me so well and are really affordable and worth buying, and I will repurchase them for sure.

Your exclusive vitamin boost!
Your exclusive vitamin boost!
Are you struggling with problems raised by your acne-prone skin? I know you must be tired of those grandiose speeches of the product ads, well you need a product that can really make a difference. I must introduce the B triple C Facial Balancing Gel to you. Once you try, you will stick with it and just keep purchasing it just like me! The B triple C Facial Balancing Gel contains enriched doses of Vitamin B, Vitamin C and other active ingredients that can help: - Maintain a healthy level of skin oil-moisture balancing: Inhibit exceeded oil exudation in a way that won’t dry your skin. - Reduce inflammation and clean your pimples: It accelerates skin regeneration, therefore, reduce the acne marks left. You will witness the difference with just a couple of days. (effective for newly grown pimples) - Brightening and whitening: The concentrated Vitamin C lights up your skin! Remember only use it nightly. It is a concentrated gel which has thick texture similar to glue…Don’t be scared, as long as you emulsify it properly it is easily to be absorbed. You can either warm between your palms or add with treatment to dilute it. Some would use it as an overnight mask, but I prefer to apply a thick layer of it to my affected areas (only cover the pimple) to maximize the effect. What’s more, this is a functional cream that’s not recommend for daily use. I usually use it once a week, but you can increase the usage time depending on your specific situations. A Beauty Advisor Recommended This Combination!👍👍👍
A Beauty Advisor Recommended This Combination!👍👍👍
Aesop - B Triple C Facial Balancing Gel plus Aesop - Lucent Facial Concentrate is a combination recommended to me by a beauty advisor, both of which focus on soothing, balancing and regulating skin. They're also suitable for oily skin. Many say that B Triple C Facial Balancing Gel helps in lightening acne marks and minimizing the appearance of pores, but I haven't noticed it yet. However, I can clearly feel that my skin has become less shiny since using it. It has a gluey, gel-like texture and it feels great to use in summer as it's cooling and refreshing. However, it doesn't spread easily and feels like an impermeable glue-like layer that leads to congested skin. So, I'm really torn on whether it's a good product or a bad one. I heard that SHISEIDO - White Lucent Illuminating Micro-Spot Serum repairs damaged skin, but I have also failed to notice any effects. However, it has a refreshing texture and it's very moisturizing. The beauty advisor also recommended a method whereby you mix a few drops of the Lucent serum together with the Aesop - Blue Chamomile Facial Hydrating Masque to increase the moisturizing effect.

Bye! Acne Scars!! Thanks to Korres!!!
Bye! Acne Scars!! Thanks to Korres!!!
My skin type: I have combination-oily, acne-prone, sensitive skin. I bought the wild rose oilKORRES - Wild Rose Brightening Absolute-Oiland day cream KORRES - Natural Wild Rose Vitamin C Day Cream For Combination Skin and use them together as a set. Although it is called day cream, I use it together with wild rose oil at night. The combination of these two Korres products works excellent! This exactly what I want for clearing my acne scars. I have to say that I don't like the smell of this oil, but my acne marks actually faded in just three days!  Compare with the effect, the smell doesn't bother my any more. 😉 Both of them are very gentle on face,  don't irritate my skin at all super friendly to sensitive skin.  How to use: Apply lotion after your nightly cleanse, then apply three or four drops of Korres oil on your acne marks and massage until it's fully absorbed. After that, gently apply some of the Korres cream on your skin. It will all be absorbed easily and it doesn't leave your face very greasy when you wake up the next day, and you will find your acne scars faded like magic and your skin brightened up!

MARIO BADESCU - Rose Hip Nourishing Oil I have combination acne prone skin with fungal acne. It could be tricky to find a good moisturizer or oil. Rosehip oil is one of the oil that does not affect fungal acne. Mario Badescu is an affordable brand and I was happy to find one. I really love how it layers on skin with other serums. It’s super hydrating without being too greasy. It sinks into skin beautifully. I also love the dark packaging since it avoids oil from oxidizing. The texture is light oil and it’s very smooth on skin. I highly recommend this product if you are looking for an oil that you can use with fungal acne. Price is fair and little goes the long way.

Favourite Hydration Masks: Eaoron Hyaluronic Acid Collagen Face Mask v Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask
Favourite Hydration Masks: Eaoron Hyaluronic Acid Collagen Face Mask v Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask
*NOTE: Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask showed not full size (30ml v 100ml) Eaoron Hyaluronic Acid Collagen Face Mask and Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask are both very hydrating masks but have very different textures to each other, and their usages are also different. So, it is worth exploring whether both products really produce the same effects as their claim on hydration. Eaoron Hyaluronic Acid Collagen Face Mask $18: This product is a sheet type face mask that contains very hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and collagen. It has a cooling sensation on the face like other sheet face masks and leaves my skin fully hydrated and soft. I like how thin this sheet mask is because it applies to my face very evenly, which allows my entire face to absorb nutrients effectively. I prefer this mask over the Clinique overnight mask because my face appears brighter and more glowing after using it while the overnight mask leaves my skin feeling somewhat hydrated. However, I do find the essence on the sheet mask rather thick and sticky. Nevertheless, it is not overly heavy on the skin and my skin feels fine even if I don’t wash it off. I just massage the residue into my skin. I would definitely repurchase it. Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask $56: As mentioned before, I prefer the sheet face mask over this product, but this does not mean that it is a terrible product. It is an overnight mask that does not require wash off, which is quite convenient compared to using a face sheet mask because you apply overnight mask like a normal moisturizer, whereas you have to wait for the essence on the sheet mask to get absorbed into the skin. This product is in a relatively thick creamy texture that I find a bit too overwhelming for oily skin. However, it does not break me out and keeps my skin hydrated and plump the next day.
