Raw Beauty Kristi x Colourpop • AT FOREST SIGHT
What🌲 “Inspired by the Pacific Northwest, Kristi created this palette to capture her love for her home state! With rich mattes in a range of marigold, olive and chocolate to create dimension and magical metallics to highlight your look, create Kristi’s signature looks grounded in the PNW.” Packaging🌲 This design is so gorgeous!!! Kristi said that Colourpop immediately knew what she wanted, and it is stunning! The packaging makes the whole experience even more magical in a subtle whimsical way! The layout is the usual for Colourpop, which means the pans are rather big. This allows easy access for using your finger which I love! Colors🌲 These colors are so pigmented that it truly blew my mind! I have never owned such a pigmented palette. The colors would look so beautiful in the Fall, but would work during any season. Also these would look great on every skin tone! My favorites are: Chanterelle, Amanita, PNW, and Puffball Notes🌲 I am so excited to do looks with this palette! I 100% recommended signing up for the email list for when the palette is restocked, because it is absolutely gorgeous and an extremely good price! Swatches in order from top to bottom🌲 Puffball, Chanterelle, Ranier, Old Growth, Evergreen, West Coast, Homegrown, Amanita, Fiddlehead, Emerald City, PNW, Let It Rain
What’s new, what stayed, and what left! 2020🍾
What Stayed🍾 Cooluli Skincare Fridge: Cooluli - Classic 4 Liter Small Mini Fridge I adore my little fridge! It feels so good to have chilled serums, especially in the morning! I love it so much that I’m thinking I’m going to get a bigger one so I can add more products in! Truly a must have for a skincare lover! Also, the fridge can warm up products too! Tokyo Milk TOKYOMILK - Let Them Eat Cake Lip Balm I have such dry lips, and this is the only balm that actually save them! I got gifted one of their balms while I was in the hospital after surgery, and this completely fixed my dry lips! It truly passed such a big test. Native NATIVE - Travel Sample Pack For YEARS I wanted a natural deodorant that worked. I tried al lathe main brands and didn’t like any of them. At one point I even resorted to trying and make my own!! This is the answer! I will do a personal review soon, but this is the best deodorant I’ve ever tried natural or not! Billie billie - Billie Razor Billie is such an important company! They said no to the pink tax and yes to people decided when and if they want to grow their body hair! If you haven’t seen their commercial you really should, it was beautifully done! 🤩 The only complaint is that I wish I could make the razor shipments more spaced out than they offer, but I can always manually do that. Just a matter of remembering! What’s New🍾 The Ordinary The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution I FINALLY got these products! I will not lie, they kinda scare me, I am afraid of using them wrong, but so far I haven’t and my skin LOVES it! There are so many great reviews on these products that go into the science of it all, so definitely go check out what others are saying! Finch Berry FINCH BERRY - Year of Soap Set If you have not checked out my monthly soap updates you absolutely should! I have loved doing this series so much! These soaps smell so amazing and look good enough to eat!!! The comments I get saying that people want to taste them always make me laugh, because I feel the exact same way! They are great vegan soaps that I love reviewing! Flamingo flamingo - flamingo Daily Moisturizing Lotion Cherie sent me some Flamingo products and I am OBSESSED! Between you and me I hate lotion ing my body. I know! What kind of skin care person am I?! 🤭 These products feel so incredible though, that I want to! What left🍾 Avon I do not have anyone to buy from in my town, and the products are wildly expensive for what you get! You can find better deals on similar or better things through Cherie!
November • RENEGADE HONEY
It’s November!! Things are still stressful with school, but we are moving towards a break and needed time with family, which means I chose another soft scent. This time we have Renegade Honey! FINCH BERRY - Year of Soap Set Who is he?🍯 “Bring your nose to the decorative honeycomb moulding that tops this soap and you’ll be met with (you guessed it) the low, sweet scent of honey. Add a dark whisper of bitter almond and Renegade Honey readily envelops the airways, offering, in turn, a sigh of rejuvenation and warm contentment. With a cream-colored, amber-flecked body and a rich foaming lather, this nourishing soap can’t help but endear itself to the senses.“ *there is no honey in this soap it is VEGAN which is awesome!🐝 Look🍯 This one is very simple yet elegant especially when compared to the others from Finchberry! This actually took my boyfriend off guard because each time he comes over there is some extremely loud colored soap in my bathroom and so he was like “who’s this?”😂 but that being said, it is still very gorgeous and would look super beautiful in a natural looking bathroom! It has a comb shape on the top with what looks like sugar sprinkled on it. Overall it is very beautiful and natural looking! Feel🍯 This one is a harder soap, which helps with it not leaving tons of reside on the soap dish. As I mentioned before, this is super important to me because I HATE cleaning the soap dish nearly every time I use the soap! Since it is also very uniform in shape, it melts away more uniform than the others. This means it will not get super out of shape to where it will not stand unlike most of the others. When used it leaves your hands super soft like all of the others! Scent🍯 This one definitely takes on the scent of the others it’s boxed with, which means it takes a minute to get to its true smell. When you do get to it’s scent, it is by far the most soft scent I’ve run into. It’s very calming, but it will not stay on your skin. This would be fantastic for people who are sensitive to smells! Update on SWEET DREAMS🍂 Oh no. Okay it was good as a hand soap at the beginning, then it started smelling strange. I think it got more lavender scented as I used it, but it has a weirdness to it. I moved it into my shower to use as a body soap, and I really don’t like it any more. I have no idea what happened, but as of now it is my least favorite! 😭

I really want to like this...but🥴
Ugh I’m so sad, I was really excited about this palette! Good news is I bought it 50% off, but it is still such a bummer. Let’s get into it. Packaging:🌿 This is the worst part of the product. It just isn’t easy. The top comes completely off, which is annoying when in a hurry. This thing is also huge so it takes up loads of space, which I don’t appreciate. It would be so easy to make this packaging smaller by moving shadows closer together, or even just making it a normal shape would have been nice. It’s cute, but not practical at all. Furthermore the way the shadows are displayed makes it to where you can’t pick up product with your finger. Especially if you have long nails like me. This makes you reliant on brushes which just isn’t the same for glitter shadows in my opinion. The packaging overall is just such a hassle that it makes me not want to use the product much because of it. Shadows:🌿 There are a few neat shades in here, but a majority of them look very similar too each other. Normally I wouldn’t mind that, but the texture of these shadows I can’t stand. So now I have a bunch of near replicas that do not even look right due to how they are made. They are all powdery with a brush, and as I mentioned above, this is your only option to getting product. I dont know if I should be wetting brushes for them or not, because either way has issues. Water works a bit better, but then the product tries to slide off of your eyelid. Dry brushes in turn make it patchy. The colors are mainly shimmers with very little pigment, despite how they look in the packaging. Overall:🌿 This palette is way more work than it’s worth and for very little payoff. I’ve made some decent makeup looks with it, and it would be good for say job interviews where a soft look is expected. That being said, you can just get softer colors from other brands that you don’t have to fight with for payoff.

Learning to LOVE • what you don’t typically LIKE
Entering my freshman year of college I had to get a picture taken of me for my college I.D. Preparing for that moment I contoured my nose into a new shape, tried to make my lips look less thin, and held my head in a what where my chin wouldn’t look the same. The picture came out looking nothing like me, to the point where my cousins weren’t entirely sure it was me in it. I didn’t really think about it until one day when checking in at the library, the student worker at the desk said “why do you look so mad? You seem like a happy person, you’ve been smiling this whole time, but god you look angry in this.” Taken aback by his forwardness I brushed it off as my being tired that day, but he was right. I didn’t look like myself, and I especially didn’t look happy. One thing I have always not enjoyed about myself is my profile. I never saw anyone being represented as gorgeous with a nose like mine, they were always witches or the like. I never have liked my chin, and that’s something I’m still working on, but today I got this picture. Yes those elements that I have never liked much are still there, but I look healthy and happy, even without the smile. In fact, in this picture i look more content and at ease not smiling than I do in my I.D with a smile. I might have makeup, but it’s not being used to change and hide myself, but rather as self expression. No matter how you use makeup, make sure that you are doing it for you. I made my I.D. Look like a different person, because I wanted everyone who came across it to be impressed by how I could be beautiful in the eyes of society. However, as it was revealed to me that I looked better just being myself, I too want to pass that on to you. Everyone reading this is handsome, beautiful, and/or attractive. I’m here to support you if you need anything ✨
Shave Your Face @ Home With Me (tutorial✨)
Shaving your face is not the same as having it professionally dermaplaning. When getting your face professionally dermaplaned, a licensed esthetician will use a medical grade scalpel to exfoliate your face. I find that shaving you face at home is far more cost effective. Dermaplaning can start off at $150 and range upwards anywhere (depending where you live). Benefits of shaving your face (home style “dermaplaning”): Exfoliation Removes Service Debris Better absorption of makeup & skincare products Diminishes Fine lines and wrinkles Helps Appearance of hyperpigmentation YOUR FACIAL HAIRS WILL NOT GROW BACK THICKER! I promise you! Vellus Hairs (tiny hairs on your face), will not grow back thicker when shaving your face with a razor. That only tends to happen during a wax, because the hairs are being forced from the follicles (roots). My Routine: I am currently calming down from a breakout from my hormones and eating ice cream while in my period 👎🏽 I do this routine once a month: 1. Cleanse: KORRES - Greek Yoghurt Foaming Cream Cleanser 2. Tone: puremay - Soft Serum Toner 3. Oil Prep: Cliganic - 100% Rosehip Oil A lot of people say to use on dry skin, but since my skin is kind of sensitive/dry around my cheeks.. I prefer to use this oil. Also shaving on dry skin can cause irritation and microtears 5. Shave: Schick - Silk Touch-Up Facial Razor I prefer these over rink because of the length and sharpness. ALWAYS USE A NEW RAZOR EACH TIME! 6. Cleanse Again: KORRES - Greek Yoghurt Foaming Cream Cleanser 7. Tone: KORRES - H2Rose Hydrating Face Mist 8. Hydrate/Correct: The Ordinary - Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA This has hyaluronic acid in it and my HG for hyperpigmentation Alpha Arbutin. APPLY TO DAMP SKIN 9 Treat: PACIfICA - Clean Shot Mushrooms & Caffeine 7% Solution Great for irritation/inflammation. This is the game changer when shaving your face to avoid irritation! 10. Eyes: PACIfICA - Vegan Collagen Recovery Eye Cream Amazing for replacing moisture! 11. Moisturize: PEACH & LILY - Matcha Pudding Antioxidant Cream Amazing moisturizer that didn’t irritate my skin. *** I later applied sunscreen after my skin was calmed down***

relaxing with essential oils! 😴
one of my favorite elements of my nighttime routine is lighting candles or turning on my humidifier. i feel like your evening routine needs to be holistically relaxing - take some time to enjoy that process! i love this humidifier from target - it’s a cool air humidifier so there’s no danger of hurting yourself by accident, and it’s perfect for sitting on top of a nightstand. i also shared two of my favorite essential oils - ‘arizona’ by homesick and ‘pear/freesia’ by erb. i love a scent that’s floral but not too old lady-smelling, and these are both fresh and breezy. i highly recommend creating a wind-down evening routine. what do you like to do to pamper yourself in the evening?? 🌙🛌😴
BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Zinc Sheer Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 PA +++ SO... as you all know, I have been using Biossance’s Squalane + Zinc Sheer Mineral Sunscreen for a couple weeks now. I love the sunscreen and all products from Biossance, but I was doing research on sunscreen ingredients and I found some interesting information. As of April 2019, FDA posted on their website that they have just released a new regulation about the safety of sunscreens and ingredients used. Since I am currently using this sunscreen, I looked up its ingredients. First ingredient listed is Zinc Oxide. Ewg.org mentioned that Zinc Oxide can produce “excess reactive oxygen species that can interfere with cellular signaling, cause mutations, lead to cell death and may be implicated in cardiovascular disease”, however zinc oxide is generally safe and effective according to Harvard University. This product is ACTUALLY EWG Verified, meaning this product has been carefully evaluated and found to be safe for use. You also know I LOVE squalane. I personally love the dewy finish on my face. I highly recommend this amazing Biossance Squalane + Zinc Sheer Mineral Sunscreen!

Shea’s Get Unready With Me Routine 👋💋
Ok, so, as a Drag Queen, it is apparent that I wear A LOT of makeup, so as complicated at the getting ready process is, I need to dedicate a lot to successfully removing it. First... If you are wearing any glitter of ANY kind, it will be extremely important that it is removed FIRST. The best trick for removing glitter it to take a piece of duct tape, apply it to the areas that have glitter and then peel it off. I have found that using tape to remove glitter first is extremely important. Because once you start scrubbing your face, all it does is move the glitter around more. Once the glitter removal is complete, the next step is makeup removal. I enjoy ONE/SIZE - Go Off Makeup Dissolving Mist It’s a continuous mist thats infused with jojoba and rosehip oil. I spray it all over my face and neck, and massage the product in to break up all of the makeup. Normally I look either like a Jackson Pollock painting, or greased chimney sweep. After I have used the cream cleanser I go in with a ONE/SIZE - Go Off Juiciest Makeup Remover Wipes and wipe away the excess cream cleanser and makeup. I make sure to pay special attention to my eyelids, and lashes because the product tends to hide there. Next, I use SUNDAY RILEY - Ceramic Slip Cleanser for a nice gentle cleansing to remove any of the excess jojoba oil left behind by the Go Off mist. Toning is crucial. My favorite toner is SUNDAY RILEY - Martian Mattifying Melting Water-Gel Toner I love it because its a bit thicker than most toners since it is a gel, but it absorbs so well into the skin, and still leaves your pored open enough to handle more product. After toning, I like to use the SUNDAY RILEY - U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil to help my skin repair and fight of congestion after all the damage I have put it through. The oregano is great for that. Lastly, I use The Ordinary - Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG under-eye serum to melt away any darkness and lock in brightening goodness.

Layering Guide to Acne Fighting
Heyyyyy y’all! So since I’ve been in Korea and wore a mask for 24 hours straight my chin/jaw is trying to do its own thing. Luckily your girl packed enough skincare to last her 6 mo here! My jet lag has been kicking my ass being 13 hours ahead with a 6mo old, but my skin is so important with all my progress made. When “layering” products in my opinion there is no right amount. Yet, there is a correct order. (Remember water to oil) Nights Cleanse: My favorite acne cleanser right now is the CeraVe - Salicylic Acid Facial Cleanser While it can be drying (why it’s has 4 stars) making sure to add a cleansing oil before and hydrating serum after is key! Hydrate Y’all know I’m a toner lover. So I am using the peach slices - Snail Rescue Blemish Busting Toner I recently reviewed how much I love this toner and how hydrating it is. Followed with The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Remember to apply this damp skin. This is 🔑. Treat The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% This is a godsend for my pores. My oily t-zone has been helped a lot by this product. DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel I replaced this item because I prefer a retinoid over BHA for my acne type. It’s mostly hormonal but since suffering from low grade maskne it’s helped . Moisturize fresh - Lotus Anti-Aging Night Moisturizer This is my HG night moisturizer. It’s amazing. My skin feels so soft and smells so good afterwards! ELEMIS - Daily Defence Shield SPF30 Y’all know I love my Tula but this is hardcore. I wanted something that would be effective under a mask and still moisturize. When I use Tula I get a glow which I would prefer to use in a setting my glow would be “seen”. I’m making a list of k-beauty items I want to get once in our quarantine and other things! I also want input for makeup tutorials 👇🏾👇🏾

Let’s Chat: Fox Eye Trend 👀 💬
How far is too far? 🤔 (❗️PSA: I do not speak for the entire Asian community. This is to further current discussions about this trend that have sparked recently❗️) 👀In the first pic, on the left is me with no makeup. And on the right is from a plastic surgery Instagram account. 👀 ❕Background: ❕ As an Asian-American, I have had comments and negative remarks made about my eyes. Whether it be someone pulling back their eyes, asking if I can see properly, etc. As many other Asians have as well unfortunately. Especially with the recent racist rhetoric & assaults against East Asians due to COVID-19, there are important conversations happening to address racism against Asians. 💬While upturned/slanted, almond shape, and Monolid eyes are not exclusive to Asians these are characteristics that are often associated with those of Asian descent—particularly East Asian. (Also, those who aren’t Asian who have more upturned eyes often receive comments saying they have Asian eyes although they are not.) SO, the Fox Eye trend...👀👀👀 🔍When someone pulls back their eyes or exaggerates their makeup (and sometimes have surgery) so their eyes appear smaller & slanted/upturned. 🖋While appreciating other people’s beauty is always a wonderful thing, there is a line between appropriation & appreciation. ❕And the biggest difference (IMO) is the difference between how people are treated. Example: Why are East Asians being treated differently and called “ch*nky” for having naturally slanted eyes and non-Asians being praised for either pulling back their eyes for a selfie or getting surgery to make their eyes slanted? (This can be applied to many other BIPOC as well! We’ve seen, especially in recent years BIPOC features being turned into beauty trends ⬇️ see below) Naming this trend the “Fox Eye Trend” is similar to how people are now saying anyone with big lips has “Kylie Jenner Lips.” #doublestandard 🙄 🦊Why the Fox Eye Trend is a Negative Beauty Trend: 1. The motion of pulling back your eyes was a common bullying tactic to mock Asian features 2. There is historical background as to why Asians have been discriminated against based on their eyes. 3. The Fox Eye Trend is an example of appropriation. Our eyes are not a ‘trend.’ It is objectifying and contributes to the commodification of people’s features. 4. There are people in the Asian community who are uncomfortable and hurt by this trend ❕And if these reasons aren’t good enough! Pulling back your eyes, isn’t great for your skin. Especially since the skin around the eyes is so thin & fragile. ❕ 👀Would love to hear any thoughts in the comments! ‼️Graphics are from @dearasianyouth + @impact on Instagram.
