Oct. 25, 2020
As a redhead, I’ve always taken great pride in my hair. However, it wasn’t till quarantine that I actually started taking care of it. I have 2B hair that is prone to frizz, I used to use drug store brands and would wash my hair daily due to my vigorous workout routine. I started washing it every other day, and while that helped, it wasn’t until I found new products and a new routine that I can actually say I’m happy with my hair. Here is my entire routine! Wash day: Shampoo and condition: Redken All Soft - it is hard to go wrong with this shampoo and conditioner, good for all hair types Post shower: I start by combing through a pump of jojoba oil thru the bottoms 3/4 of my hair with my fingers then I use IGK - Good Behavior 4-in-1 Prep Spray (my miracle product, ideal for blow outs, but still helpful when air drying) next IGK - Thirsty Girl Coconut Milk Anti-Frizz Leave-in Conditioner (a must leave in conditioner for my curly friends) and then I finish with VERB - Ghost Oil on my ends Once a week instead I use: IGK - First Class Detoxifying Charcoal Shampoo to help with product build up and VERB - Ghost Hair Mask to help with softness. These products work great! Thanks to the charcoal shampoo, an oily saturated scalp is a thing of the past. And the ghost mask smells of lovely sandalwood and my hair is so smooth after, it’s mesmerizing. Non-shampoo days: If I have a light workout I normally just use IGK - First Class Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo before and after my workout. Best dry shampoo I have ever used. The charcoal really helps with the sweat. Now if I did my typical 5 mile run and weights, I need something a little more powerful to help me out. I start by using IGK - First Class Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo prior to working out, this helps to absorb the oil as you workout. After my workout, I rinse in the shower with IGK - Smoke & Mirrors this is the next best thing to shampooing! My hair feels clean afterwards, however, it doesn’t strip your hair and dry it out. I follow with my normal post shower routine, however I skip the jojoba oil. I also started adding a scoop of collagen powder to my first cup of coffee. I mainly started using it because at 23, I’ve already been running nearly every day for 9 years 😅 so my joints need all the help they can get; however, I think it’s helped in making my hair stronger. My hairdresser noticed an extreme difference in my hair, which was all the confirmation I needed to continue on this pursuit.
I finally found the hair wash routine for me ✨
I feel like 2020 has been the year I finally embraced my hair. I have damaged, colored, and frizzy curly hair. My hair has always been a sore spot for me as growing up I never knew what to do with it. I spent early mornings with my mother (who has curlier hair than I do) painfully brushing my hair as a child. As a teen I never knew how to style my hair so I always ended up straightening it with my Wet 2 Straight iron and dyeing it almost every color under the sun. Then fast forward to an adult where hair products were the last thing I wanted to deal with. Until this year, I finally made the investment in my hair. It wasn’t until this year that I learned the importance of salon quality shampoo and conditioner. I always make the joke that I do skin not hair but my cosmetology friends have taught me a lot. Bumble and Bumble gifted me their Bumble and bumble. - Bumble and bumble Curl Moisturizing Shampoo and Bumble and bumble. - Curl 3-in-1 Conditioner which have been a god send. My only complaint is it’s an expensive brand for so little product but I’ve seen such a huge difference in how soft and hydrated my hair is. I have this in my shower along with another shampoo my boyfriend is currently using. One week (I try to wash my hair once or twice a week) I accidentally used the wrong shampoo but thought nothing of it. It wasn’t until the next week when I reached for my Bumble and Bumble again I noticed the immediately texture difference it left my hair feeling. The shampoo lathers really nicely with a light scent while the conditioner (which I only use on the mid shaft down) deeply nourishes my hair. I now swear by this shampoo and conditioner and will purchase it in the future. As for leave in products I always make a cocktail of three products. I do two pumps of the IGK - Good Behavior 4-in-1 Prep Spray , one squirt of the OLAPLEX - No. 6 Bond Smoother Reparative Styling Creme , and a couple drops of the OLAPLEX - No. 7 Bonding Oil . With all the dyeing and heat styling I put my hair through last year I use the olaplex to help rebuild those damaged bonds/strengthen them. If you’re using the bonding oil the key to the component is tapping the bottom while it’s upside down. The product disperses really easily this way. I’m a HUGE fan of the original IGK Good Behavior and use it every time I heat style my hair so I was pumped when they came out with a prep spray. This spray helps tame my frizz and keep my hair really smooth. I have very thick hair and it works wonders to help detangle. Out of all the hair products I’ve tried I’ve noticed the hugest difference in the integrity, softness, and overall health of my hair since using these. It’s inspired me to attempt to style my hair more often as it’s not a frizzy, damaged, and unruly mess.

life changing hair products!
hi everyone! to preface this post, i have been seriously struggling with my hair for a very long time. as you can see in the photo to the top right, i have awful scalp psoriasis and sudden hair loss/thinning that makes my hair absolutely unbearable. i have had to get used to being in so much pain and discomfort at all times, and finally within the last few months, i have begun the pursuit toward more manageable hair. it is clear from the lack of dandruff or scabbing AND subtle hair regrowth shown in the bottom right photo that i have made an amazing amount of progress. while it’s not perfect, i can include my current hair care routine down below so hopefully someone else can get the same relief! the night before a shower, i will usually apply either the #Lush Cosmetics - H’suan Wen Hua Hair Treatment[products]#[FourStars] which makes my hair SO SOFT or i wet my hair and apply OLAPLEX - No. 3 Hair Perfector which feels very reparative even though i don’t have awful damage. regardless on which i am using that night, i will cover my hair with a durag and don’t rinse out until my shower in the morning. when in the shower, i first use my #Lush Cosmetics - Soak and Float Shampoo Bar[products]#[FiveStars] which is the one of the only shampoos i’ve found that actually somewhat helps my dandruff and it’s NATURAL. not to mention the bar legitimately lasts forever. after lathering and rinsing with my scalp massager, i then apply Briogeo - Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-exfoliating Scalp Scrub Shampoo and lather and rinse the same way. i then apply my #Lush Cosmetics - Veganese Conditioner[products]#[FourStars] which i leave in for as long as possible or until i’m done doing everything else in the shower. after getting out of the shower i apply Briogeo - Farewell Frizz Blow Dry Perfection Heat Protectant Cream and Briogeo - Farewell Frizz Rosarco Milk Leave-in Conditioning Spray which feel, smell and make my hair absolutely amazing. i then blow dry my hair upside down and wait until it’s almost entirely dry before brushing with my Wet brush - Original Detangler . lastly, at the end of each night i apply The Ordinary - Multi-Peptide Serum for Hair Density focussing around my hairline and spray a bit of an oil mixture that a friend created for me. i then massage my scalp with the scalp massager and every once and a while i’ll apply caster oil focusing on my ends. i know i completely went overboard and this is way more products than any one person needs but i have found my hair has completely transformed within the last few months and it feels amazing! ps. if anyone has any recommendations that help with faster growth please let me know! with all of this progress it has made me realize how slowly my hair is growing (like literally an inch or two in over two years). thank you so much!! 🤍
Hair Secret # 1
This Dynamic Duo has been my holy grail and has definitely been a game changer in my hair game . I’m never going to give this up and this duo will definitely stay in my hair routine . All you do is Apply # 0 to dry hair and let it sit for 10 minutes ( Do not rinse out ) and then you apply # 3 . . Let that sit for as little as 20 minutes or longer . Then you rinse and proceed with your shampoo. I feel this combo has literally strengthened my hair for the better . I will definitely recommend this duo to keep your hair game strong or to nurse your hair back to health from overprocessing , heat damage or dryness.
Battle of the powder dry shampoo’s!
I have extremely oily hair and the Bumble and Bumble Prêt-à-powder has been my holy grail for SO long. I’ve been through more bottles than I can count. I love it because it lasts way longer than spray, absorbs oil and gives my hair amazing texture. Now enter the new Briogeo Charcoal + Biotin Shampoo, a similar product so I had to test it out and compare the two! They’re both great at absorbing oil. I would say the white cast on the Briogeo is a TINY bit worse but it absorbs after some time. The Briogeo smells better and has a better sprayer, the B&B has no scent and you just have to sort of dump it on through the sifter. But I will say that the B&B gives way better texture to my hair. I get SO much volume with it I still love it, it also lasts days after using it. The Briogeo doesn’t give nearly as much texture and my scalp feels really powdery after using it. Overall I love both and will use them both up, but I think the Bumble is still my holy grail! ✨ Briogeo - Scalp Revival Charcoal + Biotin Dry Shampoo Bumble and bumble. - Pret-A-Powder
My post-workout wavy hair routine 🌊
My hair is naturally pretty wavy, a bit frizzy and my scalp tends to get pretty dry during summer! I make it a point not to wash it more than just a few days a week which has been hard ever since I started working out regularly again and sweating SO much (I blame Chloe Ting 😅) but I still don’t like to wash my hair every day or else my scalp is just itchy and flaky and awful. What I’ve been doing to refresh my scalp and revive my waves is immediately go in with a powder (important!) dry shampoo like the Briogeo - Scalp Revival Charcoal + Biotin Dry Shampoo to soothe my scalp and also soak the sweat, then spraying the lengths of my hair with water and applying some amika: - Curl Corps Enhancing Gel it works great in my opinion! This routine brings my wavy hair back to life and makes it look less stringy and gross, the dry shampoo also adds some volume which I love! This routine’s been working great for me and allows me to go an extra day between hair washing ☺️
Love these! 😍
Ever since I’ve been home more I’m trying to take care of my hair more! My hair has been so damaged from straightening it almost every day pre-quarantine 😅 🤍I’m not straightening my hair as much right now so I wanted to try Olaplex products to see if they can repair the damage on my thick-wavy hair. Mini review: 🤍 OlaplexOLAPLEX - No. 6 Bond Smoother Reparative Styling Creme No. 6 Bond Smoother Reparative Styling Crème: I use this product on wet hair and it makes really smooth and shiny. I also really like the smell of this product! It has a nice creamy texture that doesn’t make my hair feel greasy and doesn’t weigh it down! 🤍 OLAPLEX - No. 3 Hair Perfector Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3: I use this on damp hair before I wash my hair. I love this product so much! It really makes the hair so soft and reduces the amount of splits ends I have! My hair feels so healthy and shiny after using this!

Caring for my wavy hair 💗
Not too long ago, I really didn’t know that I had wavy hair. Like many people I had spent years brushing it and straightening it and not giving it a second thought. Finally, my laziness got the best of me and I decided to stop heat-styling my hair. I think the first step of caring for wavy hair is finding the right stylist. Around the time I decided to stop heat styling my hair I went to a new hair stylist who absolutely transformed my hair. He cut in long layers and took out a lot of the bulk in my hair, and I really think these two things were key to getting my waves to hold up. Having more layers definitely helps enhance the waves and keeps them from falling out. So here is my current styling routine! Wash and condition hair: honestly I am not super picky at all about what shampoo or conditioner I use, but I try to get ones that have less sulfates and silicones in them. If anyone has any great recs for shampoo/conditioner for wavy hair, feel free to drop them below!! Post-shower: I know the Curly Girl Method has you apply your products when your hair is still soaking wet, but I can’t stand standing there, freezing cold with my hair dripping everywhere. So I wrap my hair loosely in a t-shirt as soon as I get out of the shower while I dry off and apply my skincare. Then once I am dressed, I take my hair down and apply my products. Leave-in conditioner: I have talked about this before, but this is the most amazing leave-in conditioner I’ve ever used. sexyhair - Healthy Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner Smells amazing and leaves my waves so amazingly soft. I apply this all over my midshaft-ends and lightly rub it in. Wave spray: Again, I’ve talked about this product before but it is seriously my holy grail hair product. OUAI - OUAI Wave Spray I spray this all over my head, seriously you cannot use too much of this stuff. (Side note: I don’t recommend spraying this on dry hair because it can get sticky, but if your hair is wet you are 100% good to go.) Once I have applied this, I flip my head upside down and SCRUNCH. Depending on what I’m doing, sometimes I will plop my hair with the towel again just to keep the wet hair off my shoulders, otherwise I just let it air dry. And voila! I love being at a place where I really just love how my hair looks daily, and I never have to spend more than 10 minutes styling it!

You know, not all balayages need to be low, I freehand painted this one up to her scalp! It gives her such a beautifully blended look. I kept lots of dark pieces in so when it grows out, it’d look natural! This client only comes in twice a year and she always tells me “all my friends this I get my hair done monthly because it grows out so beautifully and blended”. That’s a HUGE thing. Nowadays people don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars every month to take care of their hair, so this is a more affordable way to add some dimension and not break the bank! (Even though I would love to see you more than twice a year, please get regular haircuts so we can grow your hair out) I used a nice violet tone in her hair to give it extra light/icy pieces throughout! Toner doesn’t last forever, but this one is my go to!! Products used: OLAPLEX - No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo OLAPLEX - No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner OLAPLEX - No. 6 Bond Smoother Reparative Styling Creme (a true life saver I might add) KEVIN.MURPHY - Body Mass KEVIN.MURPHY - Anti.Gravity Spray KEVIN.MURPHY - Bedroom.Hair KEVIN.MURPHY - Shimmer.Shine KEVIN.MURPHY - Smooth.Again ...yes I use tons of products but your hair feels and smells so amazing afterwards, you won’t want to wash your hair😂
😳Why box dye is TERRIBLE for your hair
As some of you may know by now, I am a licensed cosmetologist. I see TONS of clients everyday and a large amount of my new clients are color corrections. What’s a color correction? Wells color correction is usually a pricey service that a hairstylist does once your hair is compromised from box dye...or maybe you gave yourself a hOMBRÈ. Yeah I called you out😂 This service is so pricey because it can take HOURS to fix this situation. This haircolor, took FIVE hours. She had three layers of red box dye in her hair and about two inches of regrowth that was lighter than the red. Trust me I wanted to cry when I saw it. This is every hairstylists worst nightmare. A client wanting to be blonde but their red. Lol not gonna happen. As you can see, there’s still some red, that’s where she really overlapped her box dyes. Box dyes are progressive dyes that really buildup on the hair. They have metallic salts that can build up and reeeaally dry out the hair....not fun. If I do a color correction over boxed hair I will seriously FORCE clients to get Olaplex added to the color and lightener. It’s soo damaged just in general and it’ll be worse after a huge chemical service like this one! Use these to prevent any further damage OLAPLEX - No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo OLAPLEX - No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner amika: - The Wizard Detangling Primer OLAPLEX - No. 6 Bond Smoother Reparative Styling Creme KEVIN.MURPHY - Smooth.Again

Don’t Make These Mistakes When Straightening Your Hair
Even if you have frizzy, unruly hair as I do, you can still achieve sleek, shiny hair with a few great tools and products in your arsenal. Learn from my mistakes to ensure your next ‘do is perfect! I’m giving you some of the best tips and tricks I've learned through my own hair journey. My Hair Type I have very dry, curly/wavy hair. I love wearing it down and straight! If I keep it curly, I usually have quite a bit of frizz, especially during the summer. Mistakes I've Made Straightening hair before it’s completely dry. Don’t do it! It creates split ends and broken hair. Now, I make sure my hair is bone dry before I use any heat. Forgoing heat protectant. I used to think they were unnecessary, boy was I wrong! I have significantly less damage now that I started using one. Passing the iron over one section too many times. This creates more heat damage than necessary. Instead, I invested in a high-quality hair straightener that gets the job done in one pass. Tools & Products I Use To Fix My Mistakes: 1. Ghd ‘classic styler’ hair straightener - This tool is a little pricey ($200). I do love it though, it heats up in 30 seconds and I can straighten my hair in one pass. 2. Amika heat protectant - This is actually heat protecting serum, which is pretty cool. It’s $25 and protects and adds shine to my hair. Bonus, it smells awesome. 3. Oplalex No. 5 & 6 - I love Olaplex, I can’t say that enough. Numbers 5 & 6 are the hair cream ($28) and hair oil ($28). I mix the two together in my palms and rub in through my ends when I’m done straightening. (I also use their shampoo & conditioner and love them both!)

I’m Gonna Say it: Holy Grail Hair Care! ✨
So about a month ago I made a post with a bunch of minis I brought home, and two of them were these two products, and I feel confident to give reviews on these now! A quick background in my hair: My hair is naturally extremely thin and I have 2c/3a curls (a blend of wavy and ringlets) as well as being high porosity (they dry sooo fast like literally one pat with a towel). I’ve been dying my hair for a long time, and because of that, for the last several years I’ve suffered breakage, split and brittle ends, and a lack of bounce in my natural curl. I’ve been growing my hair out for years and stalled on length because the ends just kept breaking off, and there were a lot of times where I would break down in tears because I just wanted long pretty hair. I spent tons of money going through masks and leave ins and oils and nothing helped longer than 24 hours. Enter OUAI - OUAI Leave-In Conditioner I bought the travel size of this and pictured above is the full size (I only used the travel size like 3 times before I was completely sold on it). After just one use, I finally felt like my hair was shiny and soft, something I hadn’t experienced in years of rotating through products. My friend actually noticed it over facetime the next day with zero prompting! I was so excited I washed my hair a day early the next time so I could use it again. Now, my hair is shinier than ever and it actually feels like my hair is stronger! No more little pieces break off when I brush it and I feel like it’s safe to finally use heat on it again (even though I don’t want to bc my curls look so good!!). I couldn’t be happier with this product, I want to buy like 4 more bottles now so I never run out even though a little goes a long way. My actual holy grail. I would give it 10 stars if I could. The OUAI - OUAI Wave Spray I got with it is also a fantastic product I bought a full size of quickly too. My biggest beef with “sea salt” sprays has always been the nasty play-doh smell and the residue that feels impossible to wash out of my hair. First and foremost I love the way this spray smells sooooo much, it’s delicious and sexy, very feminine and lovely. The other thing I love is that it uses rice starch instead of salt than can be drying and leave a sticky residue. Although this spray leaves a little texture, it’s definitely tolerable for day 3 or 4 (or 5 or 6 😬) hair and the perfect thing to bring life back to my curls.
