Mood Boosting Fall Lippies w/ lip swatches!

As the temps start to drop and the days get shorter, I look for anything to give me a mood boost. I find that adding a fun lippie can improve my mood, whether I’m bare-faced or rocking natural or glam makeup looks. Here’s a few of my fall faves: Too Faced - Melted Liquified Long Wear Matte Lipstick Limited Edition
“gingerbread man”: This was part of the melted matte line and was released for a holiday collection a few years ago. It did come back last year. I’m not sure about this year, but there is a similar looking shade available from the brand this year called “pumpkin”. The formula is thin, comfortable (use a balm underneath), and long-wearing with some transfer. This burnt orange shade is so beautiful - I always get compliments when I wear it! $20ish FENTY BEAUTY - Stunna Lip Paint Longwear Fluid Lip Color
“uncensored”: This is very long-wearing despite transferring onto everything - it never looks touched! You must be patient applying because the formula is liquidy and immediately stains. It has a comfortable matte finish. This is a red that would look amazing on all skin tones. I advise getting a mini (sometimes in Fenty holiday sets) because a full size has so much product and mine recently expired (hence no lip swatch - it smells awful now). I intend to repurchase. $25 REVOLUTION - Renaissance Lipstick
in “luxe”: This is a comfortable creamy, matte lipstick that screams fall. It’s a warm brown with reddish-orange undertones. Great price point. This would be great for a wide variety of skin tones, too. The packaging is also stunning, which adds to the luxe (pun intended) experience. It fades nicely. I also like to wear this lightly blotted on my lips. $6.50 ANASTASIA Beverly Hills - ANASTASIA Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick
in “heathers”: This is a pretty drying matte liquid lip formula, so prep your lips well. The color is so worth it - it’s a gorgeous, long-wearing oxblood red. These sometimes go on sale BOGO (which is how I got mine) so be on the lookout because I’m not sure this is worth $20 on its own. Want a drugstore dupe? NYX cherry skies is almost spot on for about $7. BITE - Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick
in “cassava”: This discontinued liquified lipstick is a deep plum-berry. It’s so comfortable on the lips and very opaque. Because it doesn’t dry down, it does transfer onto everything and fades faster (but still several hours of wear). I wish Bite hadn’t discontinued these, but I do recommend their lip crayons and amuse bouche bullet lipsticks. Bite usually offers sets, and they have a lab in Toronto and LA to create your own custom lipstick. You *may* be able to find this or other shades in this formula at TJ Maxx/Marshall’s. All brands are cruelty-free, and Bite is 100% vegan. #CheriePartner

Matte lipstick can actually feel hydrating?! YES
Too Faced - Melted Liquified Long Wear Matte Lipstick Limited Edition I usually don’t wear lipstick, let alone matte lipstick, but these beauties have stolen my heart! I’ve never tried a more hydrating matte lipstick before. The ones I’ve tried have almost instantly shriveled up my lips and made them look and feel extremely dry. That’s why I was SO excited when I tried these and found that they worked well. The formula is super gentle and really targets dryness. I bought the shades Sell Out and Drop Dead red. They are extremely pigmented and go on so smoothly and evenly. Definitely recommend! Are these shades you would choose? If not, what shade is your fav?😍

Two of my favorite Too Faced products.
These lipsticks rekindled my love for bold lips. I’m not a big fan of matte liquid lipsticks anymore, but these get a pass. The colors are gorgeous and bright (Swipe for swatches!) and look great with my complexion. The packaging is just as cute and the lipstick itself smells like gingerbread! These are more comfortable to wear than a lot of liquid lipsticks I’ve tried and I’ve never had them flake or ball up like some are prone to doing. They provide an opaque layer of color with one swipe. While they do dry down, I have one tiny gripe— They’re not the most transfer proof. If you press a napkin to your lips, you’ll definitely take a bit of the color with you, and you’ll probably need to touch up after eating or drinking. As much as I love these lipsticks, I’ll dock them one star each because it’s not entirely transfer proof and I don’t think ANY lipstick is worth $21. That being said, they’re a 4 out of 5 for me, but I’m still very happy to have them in my collection. Battle of the rose gold lippy
A bonus about finding a great lipstick colour that suits your skin tone is also finding one in a cute rose gold ribbed metal packaging that you can show off when applying to your lips. Chances are, you know exactly what Charlotte Tilbury’s makeup line looks like. These iconic lipsticks are an Instagram staple, with their ridged, rose gold tubes and engraved caps. These lipsticks are a cult trend and because of their luxury look and established high end brand they come with the price tag too. That is until, Makeup Revolution brought out an almost identical looking range at almost ¼ of the price tag - so how do they differ? Charlotte Tilbury - Pillow Talk Diamonds Lip Topper This is the shade Pillow Talk - did you know that there is 1 Pillow Talk Matte Revolution lipstick sold EVERY 2 MINUTES?! Now that’s impressive. This award-winning, nude-pink matte lipstick has everyone talking. I regularly get lots of compliments when I wear this shade too. It’s incredibly flattering and would suit most skin shades. I have a yellow undertone skin colour and am fair to medium. This lipstick is enriched with hydrating orchid extract and stays put all day. It really is my favourite lipstick that I own but for the price I tend to only wear on special occasions. REVOLUTION - Renaissance Lipstick This shade is Prime and it's almost identical to Pillow Talk. It has a creamy enough formula and glides across the lips nice enough. It definitely does not come close to the Charlotte Tilbury lipstick range in quality and the shade doesn't last as long on the lips either. It does however look the part and is a nice colour once first applied. For the price I probably would repurchase again as more of a daily lipstick.

BEETLEJUICE inspired makeup!
BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE! Summon inspiration from a classic spooky movie! Grab out your most colorful palette with greens and purples! I used the perfect Morphe palette that is full of greens and purples! MORPHE - 35M Boss Mood Artistry Palette 𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙥 𝙤𝙣𝙚 Let’s start with a bright lime green in our crease. Take a fluffy blending brush and apply the green in your crease with winshield wiper motions back and forth. Just worry about the blend on top, we will be covering the lid portion with another color. 𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙥 𝙩𝙬𝙤 Concealer, micellar water, primer.. use what you’re comfy with to create a cut crease! Sketch out your shape and let’s start to fill it in. Find two different purples to give our look some depth. Darker purple on the outer corner of your eye and a brighter more magenta type purple on the inner corner. Blend the colors together and keep it as neat as possible to give a crisp cut crease. 𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙥 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙚𝙚 Tie it all in together! Add the same green you used earlier to your bottom lash line and bring it up towards your top lid to bring it all together for the look. I suggest using a pencil brush and blending it out with a small blending brush. 𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙥 𝙛𝙤𝙪𝙧 Complete the look. Add some flashy lashes or eyeliner to your eye look. Be bold and add a black lipstick! I used UNINVITED FENTY BEAUTY - Stunna Lip Paint Longwear Fluid Lip Color I’m not a pro at cut creases, but this was pretty simple and easy for me.

Best Drugstore Dupes for Lip Stains
Best Drugstore Dupes for Lip Stains
Some of us are either staying indoors most of the time now or if we’re outdoors, we are wearing face masks outdoors. It is inevitable for we take shortcuts with our make-up now. Even though I’m indoors more than ever, I still like to apply a layer of lip stain at home to allow myself to look more put together before I start the  day. I favor lip stains more than lipsticks now as lip stains are generally liquid or water-based gels and feels lighter on the lips. Compared to a lipstick, the lightweight liquid color serves as softer veils of color on your lips, making it more casual for daily home use. I like how they are designed to give lips a perfectly imperfect hint of color. I am already a habitual lip balm user so although a lip stain can be drying, I use one in conjunction with a moisturizing lip balm. The humble drugstore also provides great affordable options for good lip stains that do the job well. One of my favorites is L.A. Girl Lip Plumper Tinted. I am using shade Tickled, a clear jelly that adds a hydrating sheen to my lips. It also adds a natural pucker worthy look thanks to its tingling formula which may be too apparent for some people. However, I like how I can apply it on its own or layer over another lip color for a long-lasting plumping effect. Another lip stain that has been in my make-up bag is L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Liquid Lipstick. Touting the matte effect on lips instead gloss,  the product is L'Oreal's first “up to 16 hour” matte liquid lipstick. It gives an overall relatively high pigment shade than lip glosses without wearing off as quickly. It feels comfortable and creamy on the lips without over-drying. A thin layer is all you need for a natural color  for hours. I love the shape of the applicator that makes it easy to shape and add dimension to lips. For those sensitive to scents, this lip stain has no funky smell.

My favorite nude lipstick
My favorite nude lipstick
Today I am sharing my favorite nude lipstick and the long journey to find it. When I first started wearing lipstick, I didn’t understand why anyone would wear nude shades when you could wear every other color of the rainbow. It wasn’t until my twenties that nude shades became popular and I set out to find the perfect one. I have fair skin and naturally pink lips, so nude shades that are more brown or tan don’t look right on me. I did find an amazing shade almost immediately. It was from the now discontinued Mary Kate and Ashley Makeup line. It was a glossy nude that was just the right mix of pink and tan tones. I went through probably 5 tubes of that one. When they discontinued the line, I bought every tube that was left. It lasted a while, but soon I was on the hunt again. The next one I tried and liked was Maybelline, in the shade Born with It. That one worked for a while. I used up an entire tube and then couldn’t find it anywhere. After a year or so, it was back, but it wasn’t quite the same. I don’t know if they tweaked the formula slightly or if the color of my lips changed slightly, but my just right product was suddenly a little too pink. It was the tiniest difference, but it was a noticeable difference. From there, I set about looking for another perfect shade. I tried just about every drugstore brand and came up empty. I was the Goldilocks of lipstick. This one is too pink, this one is too tan. I didn’t try a lot of prestige brands until recently. I had my makeup professionally done and saw the difference good products make and set about replacing everything in my makeup bag. I purchased MAC Matte Lipstick in Kinda Sexy online. In the photo, the shade looked darker, so I wasn’t expecting this shade at all. But the minute I tried it on, I knew I found my perfect shade once again. It is a matte formula, but not too drying. I like that I can choose between a matte finish or layer on a clear gloss for a glossy finish. I can see myself repurchasing when this tube is gone.

My Experience and Review of NYX Matte Lip Creams
My Experience and Review of NYX Matte Lip Creams
NYX - Soft Matte Metallic Lip Cream If I had to choose which lipstick I would use for the rest of my life. NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams are where it’s at. I’ve been using NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams since high school and I’m still SO obsessed with them! I feel like I’ve tried many other matte lipsticks from brands like Colourpop, Kylie Cosemetics, HudaBeauty and more, but I always come back to NYX. They have such a large colorway from a variety of shades of nudes and pinks to more outgoing colors like purple and black! NYX is also a drugstore brand so you can find them at your local Target, Ulta, and more! They’re super creamy and blendable and it’s not drying at all (unlike other matte lipsticks). That being said, they do rub off quite a bit, but that’s a trade off you’re going to have to accept if you don’t want a super drying lipstick. However, this product is buildable sooo if you want a more matte look, just put a ton of layers on and it’s pretty much the same as a regular matte lipstick! I know this because that’s what I used to do back in high school when I wanted a really vibrant lip. It’s easy to take off too which is something I love because I hate it when I have to rub off my lipstick with makeup remover! And not only are these lippies super high quality, they’re also super adorable too! At only $6.50 each, you can build up your makeup collection pretty easily! I always bring a tube with me wherever I go and it brings some color back to my look. My go-to colors are “Abu Dhabi” (a nude color) and “Zurich” (a more pinkish color). I’m wearing Zurich in the photo btw! I definitely recommend this product whether you’re just a beginner or someone that has been doing makeup for your whole life.

ABH liquid lipstick 💄
ABH liquid lipstick 💄
✨I recently got this for Christmas in a mini set & it’s become my absolute fav! I don’t always go for a liquid lipstick formula but whenever I do, I love this one! ✨It’s by Anastasia Beverly Hill’s & it’s in the shade Charm! It’s a medium tone nude for my very light skin tone, so sometimes I use a lighter shade in the center to balance it out. Or sometimes I want a full on soft beige lip color. ✨What does this product claim to do? It says it’s a full pigment, long lasting, ultra wearable matte liquid lipstick. - I believe it’s true to its claims! It stays on for hours, it’s super Matte & dries super quickly. The formula is kind of liquid so if you’re a beginner at liquid lips I would probably try using with a lip liner! ❤️ ✨They have over 30 shades & they’re $20! Super affordable. Love this lipstick! Perfect lips!
Perfect lips!
Omg!!!! When fenty beauty said they were releasing sheer lipsticks with immense shine I almost died! But no actually... I told myself okay you can get 1 shade but here we are 4 shades later! This collection has so many amazing nudes I couldn’t just pick 1. Also I don’t know about you but in the summer time I couldn’t be bothered with a matte lip that feels super drying. I like to wear something more comfortable that adds a shine and moisturizes my lips. This product is perfect and does just that! It’s shiny feels so comfortable on the lips and provides the most amazing shine making your lips looks so plump and healthy! Pictured are the shades gogi gang, make out break, cookies and cocoa, and quartz candy. I already have my eye on more shades. At this point I might just get them all lol! Liquid vs. Solid | Milani vs. ABH
Liquid vs. Solid | Milani vs. ABH
MILANI - Color Statement Matte Lipstick ANASTASIA Beverly Hills - ANASTASIA Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick I’ve had experience with both liquid lipsticks and traditional stick lipsticks. Spoiler alert... I’m not the biggest fan of liquid lipsticks. They were super popular a few years ago when everyone loved matte lips. It was never my thing! I tried this Anastasia nude liquid lipstick and while it smelled great and I love the color, I didn’t like how it sat on my lips. Even if I exfoliated and used a lip balm before applying, this always made my lips dry. I don’t like how you could see the lines in my lips with the matte formula. Compared to other liquid lipsticks, this formula is quite thick. It makes for a good long lasting formula but it’s not very comfortable. A similar color, the Milani Color Statement lipsticks, suits me better I think. This formula is great because it has good color payoff but still feels moisurizing. It’s amazing for everyday use because it’s so easy to reapply and I never need a mirror. This color is amazing too, it’s like a ‘my lips but better’ shade! Does anyone else also prefer traditional lipsticks over liquid lipsticks?
