{Overnight Style} Headband Curls

I loveeee overnight styles. I have a pictorial on my Cherie page already of my go-to overnight waves. I’m back with another easy overnight style. This style is good for pretty much all hair types (except super coiled) and most lengths longer than your chin. What you’ll need: An elastic headband thicker than the width of at least 2 fingers Comb Hairspray (optional) Bobby pins (optional) Steps: 1. Start with clean or next day hair that is 85% dry. You can lightly dampen sections with water if you are starting with completely dry hair. Comb through and part in desired spot. 2. Place the headband on top of your forehead (think flower crown or “hippie” style) over your hair. 3. Starting on one side of your head, take a one inch section of hair from the front and wrap it around the headband once. 4. Take another section of hair (which will include the ends of the first section) and repeat. 5. Repeat until you get to the back of your head. Repeat steps 3-5 on the other side of your head until you’ve wrapped all of your hair around the headband once. You will have long pieces sticking out. 6. Gently make room on your headband by pushing the looped hair towards the left and right (whatever side they originated from) and continue wrapping the lengths of your hair until you run out. 7. Optional - If you have fine hair or toss and turn in your sleep, secure your ends with a bobby pin or two. 8. Optional - Spray with hairspray to increase the longevity of this style. 9. Go to bed! If you’re doing this style during the day, I suggest 6-8+ hours depending on your hair type, desired level of curl, and how damp your hair is. Less time = less curl 10. In the AM (or hours later) carefully unwrap your hair and fluff. You can spray with hairspray or add a styling oil if that’s your jam. Style however you’d like! **Your curls will relax throughout the day!** About my hair: super thick, long, naturally wavy/curly, holds curl well Style was prepped on day 3 hair that was lightly dampened with water. Headband was left in for 10 hours. I chose to pull some front pieces back when I styled my hair because I sometimes feel overwhelmed by so much volume near my small face. I did not use hairspray or Bobby pins the night before because my hair holds this style well overnight. My headband is probably from Target or Walmart but not sure because I’ve had it for a few years. #CheriePartner

RebeccaSuzanne_SaysThey turned out pretty good! It’s not my personal favorite overnight curls method but everyone’s preferences are different.

Creating sleek and straight hair with the hair straightener
Creating sleek and straight hair with the hair straightener
I find that one of the best ways to manage my wavy, thin, and dry hair is to straighten it before heading out of the door. Whilst it may look a little limp at times, I like how it allows me to look put together and sharper. When I was 17 years old, I also discovered this hair service call rebonding, and I have been sticking to stick-straight hair shape for the next decade. Rebonding is a semi-permanent chemical treatment that breaks down natural bonds in the hair and re-arranges them to form new bonds for straight hair. The effects last for a long time (at least 6 months) and it considerably tames down frizzy hair, ideal for those with frizzy and unmanageable hair to get a straight mane every single morning. However, in recent years, I have noticed that my hair is not as healthy as before – my natural hair is brittle at the ends and my scalp tends to flake and itch. I decided to give rebonding a break to focus on restoring my natural hair and scalp back to healthier conditions. On days when I crave sleek straight hair or when I need to look more presentable, I opt for the hair straightener. There are so many types in the market. Do your research according to which best suits your hair type and budget. The one that I have loved for a long time is the Lena LN-508 ion straighening iron. Reasonaly priced, the product has so many key features that I like -turbo ion technology to ensure that the hair is smooth, shiny and frizz-free, titanium tourmaline coating plates that reduce heat damage to hair, a one-touch control panel within easy reach for 5 different heat settings (140,160,180,200,220℃), a 360° swivel cable and a anti-scald design for ease of use, even for clumsy hands like mine. To use, first I wash and blow-dry my hair. Then I comb my hair and spray heat protectant while switching my flat iron on to 180 degrees which is suitable for most thickness of hair. I choose to divide my hair to 4 sections, left and right and then top and bottom. Place your flat iron 1–3 inches above your scalp and close the two heated sides together, with the hair between them. Straightening too close to your scalp may damage the roots or burn your scal and be sure not to clamp too firmly, as this will create a ridge at the top of your hair. Slowly run the iron down the length of your hair. Keep the same amount of pressure on the hair at all times.

FROM FLAT TO WAVY!✨ How To Curl Hair w/Flat Iron
FROM FLAT TO WAVY!✨ How To Curl Hair w/Flat Iron
I always get questions from my friends asking about how I curl my hair with a flat iron! I’ve been doing it for years now (ever since high school) and definitely prefer it to a curling wand/iron. I just love that with one hair tool, I can straighten, wave, and curl my hair! *BTW please ignore the weird faces I make while curling my hair!!! My go-to style with a flat iron is messy, wavy hair. To achieve this look, I do three types of curls: 1) A curl towards my face Clamp a section of hair and twist towards the face, holding firmly, and glide through the length slowly 2) A curl away from my face Clamp a section of hair and twist away from the face, holding firmly, and glide through the length slowly 3) A wave Clamp a section of hair and flip the iron upwards and downwards slowly as the iron glides down the length of hair I section off my hair into two sections (top section and bottoms section) to start. I just alternate each curl as I go around my head and the variety of curls offer a much more natural, messy wave to the hair. There are definitely times when I like my hair to look more polished, but for my casual hair look, the messier/natural it looks the better!

Toned Onto Color
Toned Onto Color
This gorgeous head of hair was completely virgin when I got my hands on it. She wasn’t sure that she wanted to color her hair, so we decided that toning out some of her natural warmth would give her a little taste and go from there! Since she had such LONG, THICK hair I had to mix quite a lot of toner. I ended up using Shades EQ: 2oz 8V + 0.5oz 9P + 0.5oz 9T with 3oz of Processing liquid. (If you’re keeping up that’s 6oz of toner) I chose to use 9P and 9T in half of my formula, because she had some pieces of hair that was naturally lighter than the rest of her hair. I didn’t want to get rid of that lightness, so by mixing half of my formula with an 8 and half with a 9 that gave me a level 8.5 toner. (sounds confusing at first, but you get used to it!) THANK YOU everyone who’s been liking and commenting on my posts! It means a lot that you guys are actually interested in my technical gibberish! If there’s anything that you would like to see, or if you have any questions, don’t be afraid to ask! I LOVE hair talk!

Best hair length for my curls! #Cheriepartner
Best hair length for my curls! #Cheriepartner
I usually have a Very big volume Curly hair that sometimes it can’t be really big so when it is shorter my face can appear to be younger rather than when it is longer. I prefer my hair longer just because it makes my face less chunky. My hair texture is medium so it’s not too thin and it’s not too thick. I also think that for my face structure it works best when it’s longer.
