Is Glitter Primer Worth It?

TLDR: YES glitter primer is worth it Some people choose not to use actual eye primer. I personally do on a daily basis - the MILANI - MILANI Eyeshadow Primer
. Some choose to use concealer, and if that works for you, that’s awesome. So why would you need a glitter primer, especially if you aren’t someone who wears glitter? Keep reading! I own the NYX - Glitter Primer
. It’s affordable (approx. $7), cruelty-free, and widely available. I have a large eyeshadow palette collection. Some of my palettes are a few years old (like my tarte - Maneater Eyeshadow Palette V2
- mine is original version which you can’t get anymore but v2 contains same shades) and the shimmers don’t perform as well. You can use a glitter primer to amp up the intensity of lackluster shimmers! I swatched the shade “foxy” on dry skin w/ no primer, over the Milani primer, and over the NYX glitter primer. The swatch with the glitter primer is more shimmery and the shadow looks like how it used to 3-4 years ago. The glitter primer also holds onto shadow much better and will increase wear time. Glitter primer is great for, you guessed it, glitter. Now, admittedly I own a few COLOURPOP - Colourpop Pressed Glitter
and will flat out warn you they’re not technically eye safe. I regret buying a bunch of them but that’s a story for a different time. I have used the glitter glue to adhere these glitters to my eyes and I experience almost 0 fall-out. That’s incredible! The glitter primer can also be used on your body if you’re into body glitter. By the way, the shade I’m showing is the shade “fyre” - a gorgeous green. You can see in the swatches the glitter primer makes the glitter much more opaque and it adheres to the skin significantly better. I recommend looking for eye safe glitter. The NYX’s texture is quite tacky, so be sure to finish applying any other matte shadows before using this because it will be difficult to blend on top. I use this glitter glue most often for my older shimmer shadows. It’s also great for this of us with hooded eyes (raises hand) that experience a ton of shimmer transfer into the crease. It won’t completely stop the transfer, but it definitely helps. I fully recommend adding a glitter primer to your primer collection. At this price point, it’s a steal for the quality! #CheriePartner

Beauty Bay 🌙 X NikkieTutorials
Happy new year 🎆🎈🎊 I finally tried NikkieTutorials’s collab with Beauty Bay. I actually wanted to go for a neutral and softer look today so I used the browns and beautiful duo chrome shimmers in this palette. I love the formula! Mattes were so pigmented and easy to blend. The shimmers are beautiful and packs a punch. I put the shade “all in” on my lower lash and was going for a little halo but it was so pigmented. This palette is not bad for $30 USD. The palette comes with 20 shades, 2 mirrors (one is is magnified) and a beautiful sturdy packaging. The pans are also huge. BEAUTY BAY - Nikkietutorials x Beauty Bay Pressed Pigment Palette For this eye look I used: • Mila on the crease. I wanted this to be blown up so I extended pretty close to my brow bone • 5 am on the outer crease, creating a V shape • Basic Trut to soften the edges of mila and 5 am • I applied NYX glitter primer to prep my lids for shimmer. This will give more impact NYX - Glitter Primer • I applied underground on the mid lid and Mr. Tutorials on the inner corner • Ivy on the inner corner • Mila on the lower lash then layer with 5 am on the outer lower lash • All- in in the mid lower lash for a halo look • Winged liner and mascara. I used Stila Stay all day and Lilly triple X mascara • Optional but I added falsies. I used HoL in Au Naturale HOUSE of LASHES - HOUSE of LASHES Au Naturale Happy new year! I am stoked to see all your posits for 2021 Xoxo, Francesca 💋

{Brown Eyes} Easy Matte Brown Eye Pictorial
Do you like to wear eyeshadow that is the same color as your eyes? I sure do! I have brown eyes, and I think that brown shadow makes my eyes look so...cozy. Is that weird? LOL. Anyways, I definitely recommend trying shadow that’s the same color as your eyes. For brown eyes, I also love orange, purple, and green. I prepared a simple matte eyeshadow pictorial using the DOSE OF COLORS - Baked Browns Eyeshadow Palette . This palette contains 5 warm-toned brown shadows ranging in depth and undertone. These shadows are very powdery and very pigmented, so less is more! The formula is smooth and easy to blend. It retails for $32, but you can sometimes find it on sale. DOC has a bunch of these 5-pans, so there’s bound to be a color story you’ll like. I used all 5 shades in this pictorial. This look took me about 5 minutes total. I apply my eyeshadow first except for lower lash line prior to doing my base makeup. I have hooded eyes, so I don’t do a lot of “complicated” eye looks (like cut creases) because the effect can get a little lost + time consuming (for me). Steps: Pre-prep: Prep your eyes with eye primer or concealer and set with translucent powder or the shade “tea light” (pale cream) depending on your skin tone. 1. Using a flat or fluffy brush, apply the shade “deserted” all over your lid and into your crease. 2. Using a fluffy blush, blend “outdoorsy” into your crease. 3. Using a smaller fluffy brush, gently stamp “cherry wood” onto your outer corner, then blend slightly inwards onto your lid and into your crease. 4. Using a flat definer or angled brush, apply “rock bottom” across your upper lashline. You can make this as intense as you want! **Blend your edges with a clean brush or one of your used fluffy brushes dipped into “tea light** 5. Use a pencil or flat definer brush to apply a tiny amount of “cherry wood” onto your outer lower lash line. Blend out with “deserted” or “outdoorsy” (I used “deserted” for a softer effect. Highlight under your brow arch and inner corner with “tea light”. 6. Add mascara. Not a fan of all matte eyes? Tap a shimmer shade from another palette on the inner 1/2 or 3/4 of your lid. Other eye products used: MILANI - MILANI Eyeshadow Primer (I’ve talked about this many times) the Balm cosmetics - Mad Lash Mascara (still testing this) #CheriePartner
Practicing My Wedding Makeup!
I’m getting married in two weeks - ahhhhh!!! My fiancé and I are having a very small ceremony and dinner with close friends/family on 9/6. Next summer we’ll have a big celebration when things are safer (hopefully). I’m going to be doing my own hair and makeup. I’ve practiced a couple times, but this look is the highest contender (judge being my very picky and natural beauty-loving fiancé). I wanted a look that provided soft definition and glowy skin. I’ve reviewed a few of these on Cherie before, and recommend all of these items. Face: touch in SOL - No Poreblem Primer raved about this before, great for all skin types, somewhat covers pores, extends wear of makeup URBAN DECAY - Stay Naked Weightless Foundation lightweight, medium-buildable coverage, natural matte finish (my shade is 30NN) e.l.f. - Hydrating Camo Concealer excellent coverage, not drying, stays put (my shade is “light peach” HOURGLASS - Ambient Lighting Edit Volume 4 this was limited edition from 2018, but you can get a very similar bronzer from their permanent line, and the finishing powders are sold as singles too. Provides a bit of luminosity and gives the skin an ethereal finish. Hourglass products are expensive, but worth it. tarte - Hamptons Weekender Contour Palette I used the bronzer and blush from this. Great palette for fair-medium skin tones. Bronzer leans more neutral. Charlotte Tilbury - Beauty Highlighter Wand i used the shade “spotlight” (silvery/pinky). It looks melted into my face! It’s absolutely stunning but a bit pricey ($38), so I’d give it 4.5/5 stars. Eyes: persona - Identity Eyeshadow Palette high-quality, buttery shimmers, creamy mattes. MILANI - MILANI Eyeshadow Primer I use this all the time. It’s great for the price! I did apply some random false lashes from Shop Miss A but I can’t find which ones. Mascara would work just fine. Lips: I forgot to feature my lip products in the flat lay, so I tagged them in my “selfies”! I used Charlotte Tilbury - Matte Revolution Lipstick in “Pillowtalk” with lilah b. - Luxe Lip Oil Mini Duo shade “b elegant” on top. Pillowtalk is a my lips but better shade (pink-ish) and “b elegant” lip oil is a nude gloss. Love the color combo!! There are NO filters on these photos, by the way! Photos of myself taken in natural lighting. #CheriePartner

Super cute!
Super cute!
A super cute and affordable palette with good quality. The shimmers are a bit chunky but the colors have massive payoff. There is a little bit of fall out but overall its a great palette! I bring it with me on vacations and wear it to church because of the soft colors.

I love love love this palate! I use it whenever I need a nice warm, casual look. it’s super pigmented, crazy blendable and smells delicious. As a brown eyed girl (with oily eyelids, by the way) this stuff stays on for my whole outing and then some! I also don’t experience too much fall out with this palate, even though you do have to press on the sparkliest shades because it can get a little crazy, lol. strong recommendation on this if you’re a fall colors fan 😍

MAC - MAC Eyeshadow X 9 Palettessssss! Another fave (and actual palette of mine)! This was gifted to me by my beautiful mom a year or so ago and it’s such a staple when I’m doing a full eyeshadow look. Again I’m fair/light skinned and I gravitate naturally to neutral and blush tones. This palette gives me the best of both worlds with some browns and dusty pinks that I can mix and match in so many different combinations. I would like the shades to be a little more pigmented - the darker shades are but the lighter ones I feel get lost quickly on the lid. This palette has lasted me a long time but I do rotate it out with other palettes. I do think it’s a little pricey - I think this is something like $50 for the 3x3 mini palette which maybe sounds like a good deal because there’s 9 shadows but they pots are very tiny. I probably wouldn’t repurchase for myself because of that but I do love the shades!

Hey guys! The Lamora - Exposed
Hey guys! The Lamora - Exposed Nudes Eyeshadow Palette is one of my favorite nude palettes, so I figured I would look more closely at it today. The palette has 16 shades, 14 shimmer, and 2 a velvety matte. When looking more closely at the colors, the Comfort and Bronze shades are nearly identical in formulation and color. Same with Satin and Wood, Rust and Wood, Cameo and Idol, and Wish and Idol. When thinking about that you’re really getting closer to 7 shades. The packaging is a nice hard cardboard, and came with a sheet of protective plastic on top of the shades. It has some shimmer accents, and clearly written shade names. The formula for the velvety mattes Cream and Expresso, are very hard in the pan, but powdery on the eye lid. The shimmer shades are much easier to get out of the pan, but are very, very, powdery, and probably better for a quick smokey eye rather than a complex look. All in all a good, cheap product for beginners.

✨November’s Boxy Charm✨

✨November’s Boxy Charm✨ •CoverFX “Glitter Drops - Nova”: I was SO excited these came in this month’s box (& a full-sized bottle-$44)! I am obsessed w/ the custom enhancing drops by coverfx… I use them daily (mixed w/ my tinted moisturizer)- these contain a lot more glitter (vs. shimmer) & therefore are a lot bolder, but I still like them! You can mix them into your foundation (a little goes a long way!!) like I do with the custom drops or use them alone as a highlighter •Ace Beaute “Grandoise Palette”: contains 4 shimmery & 4 matte eyeshadow shades - the shimmery ones are beautiful & very pigmented but there’s only 1 shade that I would wear (Jasmine: a shimmery beige)… & I don’t ever wear matte or bright shadows so the other ones just aren’t my style (but others may love them!) •Luxie “Luminous Eye Set”: a four-piece set of synthetic mini eye brushes (round, tapered, angled & flat angled) - the bristles are super soft & I love the sparkly handles! . •Jonteblu “Glittering Star Eyeliner - Black”: I love a pop of sparkle on my eyes so I’m excited to try this sparkly eyeliner! AND, it will be perfect for upcoming holiday parties! •Bodyography “Makeup Brush Cleaner”: a cleansing spray made from natural orange peel and gentle cleansers - looking forward to trying this one! I love my Artis brush cleansing foam, but I would love to find a cheaper alternative (this one is only $12)
