Overnight Waves Tutorial
I am allllll about overnight hair styles. Gone are the days where I regularly use heat tools to style my hair. Every once in a while I’ll do it, but for everyday I can’t be bothered! Heatless styles are also great for reducing heat damage and breakage. This is a tutorial for my preferred overnight waves using two twists. This style works best for wavy and straight hair types. About my hair: thick, naturally wavy/curly, frizzy, dry What you’ll need: -comb -small elastic bands -leave-in spray -styling cream/gel/mousse -finishing spray/hairspray Steps: 1. Start with damp hair. 2. Apply leave-in conditioner and disperse through your hair with a comb or fingers. 3. Apply your preferred styling product(s). This will help your hair hold the style’s shape. 4. Either air dry your hair or wrap in a towel for about 15-30 min (less if your hair is fine, more if your hair is thick. I do about 30 min) 5. Take hair out of towel (if using) and comb it. 6. Part hair in desired area in front and part about equally down the back. 7. Work with one side at a time. Take a small section of hair at the front of your head, and another section from the back of your head. 8. Twist the pieces together like a rope braid. I start just above my ears. 9. Add in a section of hair from the front and from the back to continue the twist. 10. Continue adding hair and twisting down. Secure with an elastic. 11. Repeat on other side. 12. Go to bed! Let this style sit for 8-10 hours. The longer the better, especially if you have thick hair. 13. In the AM, remove your twists and gently shake your hair near the roots to loosen waves. 14. Spray hair with your preferred finishing spray/hairspray. Products I used: KRISTIN ESS - Ultra Hydrating Curl Leave-In Cream

Refresh second-day curls: 4 steps⭐Without heat!
As a member of curly girls, I know how annoying it can be to wake up with frizzy and generally out of whack curls. Stylish curls look fantastic but not comfortable to hold without some tips. Luckily, I've searched a lot and finally built my reviving curls routine, which works amazingly for me. Using a spray bottle or a refreshing hair mist. Fill a spray bottle with water and spray it liberally all over my hair. Sometimes I also use a refreshing hair mist instead to hydrate my hair. I'm obsessed with OUAI Hair and body shine mist.OUAI - Hair & Body Shine Mist Using a hair styling product. Rub a hair styling product in between my hands, then run my hands over the curls. I love KRISTIN ESS Hydrating Curl Defining Crème, which is super moisturizing without leaving my hair oily.KRISTIN ESS - Hair Hydrating Curl Defining Crème Using a hair gel. Take a small quantity of hair gel and smooth it on my hair, helping to defrizz my messy curls. SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curling Gel Souffle is my favorite. It is rich in nourishing ingredients like coconut oil, baobab, agave nectar, and flaxseed oil, hydrating and strengthening my strands. Moreover, this hair gel is a clean product without silicones, polymers, or PVP!SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus Curling Gel Souffle Zhooshing up my roots. Rub my fingers at the scalp to create lift and volume, giving me a refresh look! What's your curly hair reviving tips? Leave your words below!
My hair: Thick, wavy, curl, frizzy, dry, unruly, has a mind of its own What I look for: Smoothing, definition, lightweight hold, nourishing I try not to have a lot of hair products open all at once, but ya know 💁🏻♀️ These are two products I have open and alternate using. The IGK - Rich Kid Coconut Oil Gel has been a favorite of mine for a long time, and the KRISTIN ESS - Hair Hydrating Curl Defining Crème has been in my collection for a couple months. I like each of them for slightly different reasons. The IGK rich kid is a gel cream. Thanks to coconut oil and aloe vera, when you dispense the product and rub between your hands, the product melts down and it’s easy to work into towel-dried hair. It is excellent for adding piecey texture and definition to waves and curls, while also nourishing the hair a bit. Due to its texture, this would probably even work with straight hair to give a beachy look. Now, there’s something wrong with the one I purchased (from Ulta). It’s got a very off-putting scent that is not normal for this product. I’ve gone through a mini and several sample packets, so I know this for sure. Nevertheless I decided to keep this bottle because it would be wasteful to return, and the product itself works just fine. It *should* have a light, fresh scent. Just a quick PSA because I noticed some others in the reviews on Ulta mention a bad smell. I love that this is lightweight, provides a bit of hold, and I need very little product, so this bottle will last for a longggg time. $29 for 5oz or $15 for 1.7oz. Worth it and will repurchase. The Kristin Ess curl creme is a creamy, slightly thicker texture. It has a lovely scent (the KE “signature scent”) that is fresh and light, but not overpowering. It adds a little bit of weight to my hair and that helps provide definition to my waves/curls. However, by no means do I think this cream is heavy. It doesn’t provide any hold, so if that’s what you’re looking for I would go with the IGK. This cream makes my hair feel softer and less frizzy than the IGK. I do need more of this product, but at $14 for 6.7oz, this bottle will still last a while and it’s affordable, so I would repurchase. By the way, I follow the “curly girl method” involves “plopping” and air drying. I have used both of these products and diffused my hair in a pinch, and they work great for that too. #CherieCreator
Curly hair Dreams ✨
I have been recently using these two from Kristin Ess, It always caught my attention when I passed by the hair products at Target so I decided to give it a go on these two styling products! KRISTIN ESS - Ultra Hydrating Curl Leave-In Cream This I usually use to untangle my hair before I style it. It’s a spray that helps to loosen your curls so they can look more hydrated and natural. When the product said cream I expected a literal cream. But this is more of a milky texture. I love the smell, it’s very floral and not too strong!! KRISTIN ESS - Weightless Shine Curl Defining Jelly What I love most about this product is that it hold my curls but it doesn’t make it extremely hard to move. It styles beautifully! It’s a clear gel and it really does what it says! My hair always looks so bouncy and healthy! - These two are amazing! They also have another cream which I’m really excited to try! I feel like for the quality you’re getting, these are pretty affordable! They have for every hair type as well! And the packaging are so cute!
How I “Plop”/Air Dry My Wavy/Curly Hair w/ pics!
Do you have naturally curly or wavy hair? What about cults/waves that you've been taming with heat tools for years? Want to improve your curl/wave pattern over time? This is for you! About my hair: thick, long, some layers, curly/wavy,dry What you'll need: •100% cotton t-shirt •Leave-in conditioner •Curl cream, gel, mousse, etc (whatever you prefer) •Patience, because this takes a while! I've included a numbered pictorial so you can follow along, but please note that each numerical label isn't necessarily its own step. Some are just additional angles. This method is part of the “curl girl” method and is called “plopping ". "Plopping" with cotton gently removes moisture while reducing frizz and helping natural patterns look more defined. Steps: 1. Start with freshly washed hair. Squeeze your hair with your towel a few times until it's no longer dripping wet. No more towel after this. 2. Scrunch hair with your cotton t-shirt for about 15-20 seconds. 3. Use your fingers to apply a leave-in conditioner, or if your leave-in is a spray, just spray it and finger comb through. 4. Scrunch hair with t-shirt again. Your hair should no longer be super wet. 5. Apply your preferred curl or wave product and make sure to disperse throughout your hair starting with your ends. 6. Use your hands to scrunch. Flip head upside down and continue to scrunch. 7. Lay your t-shirt on a flat, clean surface (I use my bed). The neck should face towards you. 8. Gather all of your hair with your head up aside down as if making a ponytail and place in the center of the t-shirt. 9. Fold the bottom portion of the t-shirt onto itself, then take that folded section up over your hair towards your neck. Your forehead should be touching the neck of the t-shirt. 10. Use 1 hand to hold the shirt in place while taking each sleeve and tying them together. You will need to switch your hands during this step. The tie should sit low on your head. 11. Leave hair in shirt 20-30 min (depending on hair thickness). 12. Take hair out of shirt, flip over, part with fingers or comb (if desired, but don't comb anything else!!), and air dry. My hair takes about 3-4 hours to fully dry post-"plop". If you want to use a hair oil, use it before wrapping your hair. Products I used: KRISTIN ESS - Ultra Hydrating Curl Leave-In Cream and IGK - Rich Kid Coconut Oil Gel . There are good YouTube videos out there to learn more if you are wanting to learn more about this method!

A quick braid to juje up my hair on a busy day!
Hair type: curly/frizzy/kinky/3C I don’t braid my hair often as a hairstyle that I rock on a day to day basis; however, when I’m busy and running around all day but still want to juje up my hairstyle I throw in a braid at the front of my hair just to feel like I’m having some fun with my hair 😊 1. Separate the bang part of my hair 2. Start braiding it 3. Throw my hair in a relatively loose ponytail to preserve a little “fun”
My favorite hair style to hike in ✨
ANOTHER ONE! I love braiding my hair. As someone with dry, wild, thick curls that are super prone to frizz (especially in these hot humid summer months) my go-to instinct is to just put my hair in a bun. However I have been putting my hair in these cute styles and I want to share them! Today I’m talking about my French braided pigtails ✨ super easy, you can also do this style with a fishtail braid or Dutch braid if you’d like! Here are the steps I take: 1. Brush your hair straight back and part down the middle. 2. Tie up one side while you work on the other. 3. Braid along the top of your head as close as you can. My hair is a little crazy so this is my best 🤪 4. Remember to Bobby pin stray or wild hair back as you go! Especially if you’ll be working out! 5. Repeat on the other side. 6. Remember—Bobby pins are key! They definitely helped this side look more cohesive. 7. You are done and READY TO GO!! This style is perfect for hiking, walking, taking an exercise class or just exercising at home. My favorite part about this style is that as your neck sweats, your hair doesn’t collect it since it’s pulled to either side! Also you can look super cute while keeping your hair off of your neck in these hot summer months. What do you think of French braids?? I think this would look so cute with fishtail braids too!
