All-in-one exfoliation?! {chemical & physical}

Whether you’re a seasoned chemical or physical exfoliation vet, or you’re new to the party, it’s important to understand the purpose of exfoliating. Exfoliating can help remove dead skin, slough off dry patches, smooth, reduce acne scars and texture, unclog pores, and make your skin look brighter by encouraging cell turnover. Chemical exfoliation uses acids, such as alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) and beta hydroxy acids (BHA), and/or enzymes. These chemicals help to dissolve/loosen dead skin cells. Chemical exfoliation is generally safe to do a few times per week, depending on your skin type and the strength of the product you’re using. Read directions and consult your doctor. Physical exfoliation uses small particles to scrub away dirt and dead skin. Look for gentle physical exfoliants, such as jojoba beads and rice powder. Avoid larger, more coarse particles such as nut shells because they can damage your skin. Physical exfoliation should be done less frequently to avoid over-irritation. Both kinds are great for your skin, and all skin types can benefit. Yes, even dry skin (like me)! My ideal combo is to use both methods at least 1x/week. My current top pick for an all-in-one exfoliator is the GOOD MOLECULES - Pineapple Exfoliating Powder
. It contains rice powder (physical), vitamin C, and fruit enzymes (chemical). You simply pour out some powder and add water. The powder dissolves in a couple drops of water into a grainy, milky foam. Add more water for less physical exfoliation. My skin is left feeling smoother every time, and never feels stripped or irritated. I use 1x/wk. It’s unscented and suitable for all skin types. At $16, this is a great option for gentle all-in-one exfoliation! Available on Beautylish (although currently sold out). Item was gifted by brand w/o obligation.

Goodies from Good Molecules
I am sooo skeptical when trying out skin care products. I saw so many good reviews on this brand so I decided to try. I only been using these products for 3 weeks and I am shook!! They are really good products and they actual work. Let’s start off with my favorite product so far GOOD MOLECULES - Discoloration Correcting Serum My dark spots have faded soooo much. I can’t believe it’s not even a month and it’s doing the damn thing. I haven’t had a pimple n a few months after clearing my acne and once the pandemic began I have been getting maskne. I would say 1-3 pimples a month. I have been using this serum in my AM/PM routine and once my pimple heals there is no mark left behind. If you have a hyperpigmentation you will love this! It’s key ingredient cetyl tranexmate mesylate is what helps even out the skin. It also has niacinamide, and is fine to use with Vitamin C. GOOD MOLECULES - Niacinamide Brightening Toner I been on a hunt for a good toner and I think this is the one!! This is a toner is sooooo good! It has vitamin C ,abrutin, and licorice root extract which helps brighten the skin. I think it works really well with the discoloration serum. Being that my dark spots have faded so much I know these two products will leave no dark spot behind 🙌🏼🙌🏼 GOOD MOLECULES - Pineapple Exfoliating Powder This is a very gentle exfoliator. It doesn’t irritate my skin in any way. After using my skin looks so nice and smooth and I see a glow. It truly brightens the skin and doesn’t leave it feeling dry. After using I follow up with the toner, then discoloration serum. This exfoliator can be used up to 4x a week and a little goes a long way. GOOD MOLECULES - Overnight Exfoliating Treatment This is a pretty good exfoliating treatment. I only gave it 4 stars because I haven’t used it much. I use tretinoin at night and it shouldn’t me mixed with this treatment. So I do try to use at least 1x a week. I can say its pretty good. It’s very gentle and does not leave my skin feeling dry or irritated. Have you guys used these products or anything from Good Molecules?? If so what have you tried and how do you like them?

Super What? Let’s Talk About Superfoods for Skin
“Superfoods” aren’t just for eating. They can have benefits for your skin, too. Generally speaking, superfoods in skincare are items that provide a healthy dose of antioxidants, are nutrient-dense, provide hydration, & fight environmental irritants. Common superfoods included in skincare are berries, healthy fats (like avocado & olive oil), honey, green tea, greens (like kale), and fruits (like papaya & pomegranate). I personally love the superfood trend - there’s nothing I dislike! My super dry skin loves the added moisture & nourishment. Here are some items in my collection that feature superfoods: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser This cleanser contains kale, spinach, green tea. The greens contain vitamins C, E, & K, and green tea to help fight signs of aging. This cleanser lathers minimally and easily cleanses my face of any leftover makeup/SPF residue without leaving my dry skin feeling stripped. It does smell like greens, but the smell doesn’t stick around post-wash. I’ve finished a 2oz mini before and purchased a set from YTTP that contained another 2oz. I like it and would repurchase a full size. $36 8oz, $10 2oz FARMACY - Honeymoon Glow Serum This AHA/BHA/flower exfoliating serum is awesome for dry skin thanks to honey. Honey has antioxidant properties and is also a humectant. This PM serum gently exfoliates, moisturizes, improves hyperpigmentation, & can improve texture & fine lines over time. I don’t use this often because I tend to have stubborn dry patches and irritation that make using chemical exfoliation unwise, but generally will use 1-2x every 2 weeks. Other skin types can use this more frequently. Mine’s almost empty and I will repurchase. $58 GOOD MOLECULES - Pineapple Exfoliating Powder This powder exfoliant contains pineapple, which is known for its fruit exfoliating (chemical) and vitamin C properties, and rice powder (physical exfoliant). It claims to reveal brighter, fresher skin post-use. You simply dispense some powder, add water, mix, and apply to your face. More water = more lather & less exfoliation. Love that it is customizable like that. It does smell kind of weird, like wet paper. I do feel that my skin looks brighter after use. Would repurchase. $16 cocokind - Watermelon Hemp Oil This contains watermelon (antioxidant, linoleic acid) and hemp (fatty acids) to nourish, hydrate, & reduce moisture loss. It’s a multipurpose, relatively lightweight, herbaceous-smelling oil that can use used for hair, skin, & body. I use it on my face in the PM 1-2x/wk and occasionally add a drop or 2 to unscented hand lotion when my hands are feeling dry. This does contain rosemary, orange peel, and eucalyptus extracts, so if you don’t like/can’t tolerate those I would avoid this. Mine was sent as PR by the brand, but I have purchased other things from them. Would repurchase. $14 #CheriePartner

VERSED - The Shortcut
VERSED - The Shortcut
VERSED - THE SHORTCUT Overnight Facial Peel Retails for 19.99 USD x this is a one step overnight peel meant to leave you with bright and refreshed skin. It works overnight due to a mix of acids - lactic, glycolic and vitamin E to gently exfoliate dead skin cells while also preventing the skin from getting irritated. x texture wise it is creamy but light, easily blendable. It also leaves no residue. x my experience with this has been a pleasant one. It is so gentle on the skin and each morning after using this, my skin looks so amazing and I see a reduced appearance of texture. I have had my eye on this for a while so I knew it would be a product I’d love, which I am happy to say I do. x I do like this and I use it about 2-3 times a week for continuous results. I would recommend this to others for three reasons: 1. the brand is budget friendly, 2. It is gentle enough and 3. It’s a product I truly believe in and think it would be great for all skin types and especially those with sensitive skin. x I think this product is so worth it and it provides real results without breaking the bank. x I’d rate this a 5/5!

Key ingredients: The Inkey List Sea Kelp Serum
Key ingredients: The Inkey List Sea Kelp Serum
You may or may not have seen a ton of hype about this product on Instagram. THE inkey LIST - Sea Kelp Serum It costs $10 and has 2 highlighted ingredients: sea kelp extract and a malachite mineral complex. It’s a pretty simple ingredient list so I thought I would test it out in my routine for a couple of weeks. The ingredient claims: -Sea kelp extract: reduce and protect the skin from environmental pollutants -Malachite mineral complex: detoxify skin & deliver antioxidants It’s a lightweight serum advertised to work on all skin types for anti-aging benefits. Unfortunately this serum really set off my skin. When I’m trying to new product I use a basic routine full of products I know don’t irritate my skin so I KNOW the new product is the culprit. This caused a series of tiny bumps around my eye area and whiteheads on my forehead which is so random. I also must mention the smell...god, it’s awful. It smells like dirt, very earthy but in the worst way. When I used this serum I applied it after my hyaluronic acid serum but before any facial oils or moisturizers. Honestly if you have tough skin and aren’t sensitive to natural ingredients this will probably work great for you. It’s $10 for 1oz so you won’t be losing a lot of money if you end up not liking it, but it’s risky if you’re more on the sensitive skin train like me. I have to rate it 2/5 stars for my overall experience, however the price point is good and it absorbs well into the skin. Another product that did not live up to the hype.

Holy Grail Peel for Sensitive and Reactive Skin!
Holy Grail Peel for Sensitive and Reactive Skin!
This is my first use of a peel because I have been TERRIFIED. My skin is so reactive and I honestly haven’t even found a vitamin C I can use because they always hurt my skin. This product is a really gentle overnight peel with moisturizing ingredients like glycerine and Shea butter as well as more gentle lactic acid as well as glycolic acid. I have only use this product once and I woke up with baby smooth skin! The second pic is an unedited photo of my skin. Yes, I still have genetically large pores but look at how clean and smooth they look! I will only be using this product once a week (you can use it 1-3x/week) because I am so dry and sensitive. I used my barrier cream after washing this product off in the morning to be safe as well. I got the mini version for $9.99 at Target and it’s going to last me ages! If you’re scared of peels, this is the perfect starter one for you, it made me a believer! VERSED - THE SHORTCUT Overnight Facial Peel

✨as someone who lives with acn
✨as someone who lives with acne prone skin breakouts are just par for the course, but what's your go to duos in those crisis? One of mine (and I do have a few) is the centella green level calming toner and level buffet serum duo by purito🌱 ✨the kick starting repairing ingredient is the 10% of centella, also known as pennywort. I am love how the toner comes with a small amount of witch hazel a classic astringent and hyaluronic acid for moisture retention. The formula is think like bentoncosmetic BHA aloe toner but is easy to layer with the serum and other products during a routine. It spreads easy and lays evenly whether patted on with a pad or the palm🌱 ✨its partnering serum sets low on the EWG at green and comes with most of the same products but with a extra kick of centella at 49% (39% more than the toner). It works to reinforce and protect the skin barrier from external aggressors. The serum is of course thicker in a slightly cloudy clear color. It a bit sticky for me during application but it fades quickly🌱 ✨both the toner and serum are soothning for me but I definitely feel a little heat from them when I've overexfoliated. It ends quickly I feel the calming effects and all previous redness is gone. A natural treatment team that works to battle me overactive breakouts. I'm extremely please with how these two work together day or night.

Kale-Lalu-yAHA 🌱
Kale-Lalu-yAHA 🌱
One of my favorite chemical exfoliators is Krave Beauty’s Kale-Lalu-yAHA. It is a chemical exfoliator with 5.25% glycolic acid derived from sugar cane. It’s goal is to sluff off those dead skin cells for a more even complexion, less fine lines and wrinkles, and reducing the appearance of sun damage. Key ingredients: glycolic acid, kale, spinach parsley, aloe, hyaluronic acid, and allantoin. This is a very gentle exfoliator. I would recommend this for those who haven’t used chemical exfoliators before. I have no stinging upon application and it sinks down quickly which i love due to its thin consistency. The dark leafy greens are antioxidant packed, so you know you are also getting nutrients your skin needs along with the added hydration from hyaluronic acid. I’ve never experienced redness or irritation from this. If i have congestion or active breakouts I swear this product diminishes them by 75% overnight! I love it so much i also use on my arms, back and neck! This really is a perfect product.Krave - Kale-Lalu-yAHA

How to use Glycolic Acid products
How to use Glycolic Acid products
My skin is a bit mixed but easily get sensitive when seasons change. Acne is another nightmare for me. 😩 so choosing the right product to get rid of acne and dark marks is my big thing fro skincare.  Glycolic acid is relatively mild and very common in skincare. It can remove your dead skin and clean up your pores to make your skin look smoother and reduce acne and deal with pimple marks My skin is quite sensitive sometimes, so I don’t dare to try high acidic concentration product. 5% of glycolic acid in Pixi’s is quite mile but effective. If u r in entry level of using acidic product, start from 5%. Won’t be wrong.  Strongly recommendpixi - Glow Tonic, absolutely big fan of it!!!! I use it three times a week just by wiping whole face with cotton pads. Mine is nearly bottom up and it’s alr in my shopping list.
