Skincare on a Budget: Best Drugstore Suncreens

ProblemChild
Sunscreen is one of the most important steps in a skincare routine and finding a good affordable one can be difficult. There are so many different options and it can prove to be overwhelming. I tested as many as I can and have come up with my top ones. —Dry Skin— VERSED - Guards Up Daily Mineral Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 35
This is a really good sunscreen that can be found at Target. It is a bit pricey but it contains many amazing ingredients especially for those with dry skin. -Lightweight formula absorbs quickly into the skin. -Fragrance-free and is mineral based which is great for sensitive skin. -Includes many antioxidants which is great for protecting skin. -Glycerin and hyaluronic acid, two great moisturizing ingredients. sun bum - Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50
This sunscreen has high amounts of hydrating ingredients. It contains coconut oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, sodium hyaluronate, which all really to hydrate and moisturize the skin. -It doesn’t have fragrance listed on the ingredient list but it does have a strong coconut scent. This could be because of the high concentration of coconut oil, shea butter, and cocoa butter. Which is actually fine since at least these ingredients have other purposes besides adding an aromatic component to the product. —Oily Skin— CeraVe - Face Sheer Tint Hydrating Sunscreen SPF 30
Of course a CeraVe product made it on the list. The brand is very consistent with producing great products that are affordable, effective, and easily accessible. -This product does contain salicylic acid which is great for oily skin. This also ensures that the product won’t clog the pores. -This product also contains niacinamide as well as sodium hyaluronate, two amazing ingredients. -Fragrance-free CeraVe - Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 for Face with Zinc Oxide
This sunscreen is much like the one above, the only difference is that this one doesn’t have a tint. This is for people who would just prefer a sunscreen without that tint. —Sensitive Skin— Neutrogena - Sheer Zinc Dry-Touch Sunscreen Lotion with SPF 30
This is great for sensitive skin since it has the least amount of ingredients that can possibly be irritating or sensitizing to the skin. -Formulated with colloidal oatmeal which is good for reducing redness and sensitivity. -Feverfew extract which is another good ingredient for reducing redness and sensitivity. -Plus glycerin to hydrate the skin. I hope this helps you to find your perfect drugstore sunscreen. As for those with combination skin, I found that for sunscreens it’s easiest to look for one based on what skin type you’re closer to. For example, I have more combination to oily skin so I would look for a sunscreen formulated for oily skin.

Tinted Sunscreen 🌞
This drugstore sunscreen did end my search looking for a sunscreen that doesn't leave your skin with a white/ grey cast. It has this sheer tint that looks like a BB cream. Feels very hydrating on application. I do wait for about 10 min after application if I have to do makeup. Spf 30, mineral sunscreen, brown girl friendly!! The only problem is that the opening of tube gets messy everytime. I ordered my third one from Amazon for $11.00. Love it💕

Skin Care Routine
Hello! I though I would come on here and make a post in regards to my current skincare routine. I am looking for suggestions on the routine. First, I would like to give you some feedback on my skin currently. As of right now I am broken out, I have some dark spots and hyperginmentation on my cheeks, my pores on my nose, under my eyes, and my chin are very large and have many black heads. I do have dark circles and deep wrinkles under my eyes, but I am not too concerned with them as I am the above things. I just recently switched around my entire skincare routine. I recently found The Ordinary and contacted them about a skin care routine for my skin type. This was the regimen I was told to use with their products (or others): Morning routine: Cleanser Hyaluronic Acid 2% +B5 Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Moisturizer Sunscreen Night time routine: Cleanser Toner Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Azelaic Acid (2-3 times per week) Moisturizer The current cleanser I am using are The Ordinary Squalane cleanser, Cerave Renewing SA Cleanser, and the Neutrogena Rapid Clear Stubborn Acne Cleanser (only when I shower). For the moisturizer I am switching between First Aid Ultra Repair Barriar Cream, Kate Somerville DeliKate Recovery Cream, and Neutrogena Hydro Boost. I switch between these three moisturizers depending on my skin. For sunscreen I am currently using the CeraVe hydrating sunscreen SPF 30. When I am finished with my sample size I will be switching to the Neutrogena Clear Face Breakout Free SPF 55 sunscreen. I will admit after using these products for about two weeks I have noticed some differences in my skin such as it being much more hydrated, glowing, and small bumps that I have on my neck have reduced. I have also noticed more breaking out of my skin, but I am chalking that up to switching skin care products. I am currently working into adding The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% and the Retinol 0.5% in Squalane. I also would like to add a Vitamin C to my routine, but I am unsure which would be right for me. I am also looking for suggestions on adding antioxidants. Lastly, I am looking for suggestions on other products such as The Inkey List, Paula’s Choice, and La Roche-Posay products for acne prone combination skin.

Does Versed works for darker skin tones or not?
-thanks for reading me in advance.✨- I am reviewing today the Versed daily mineral sunscreen SPF 35. This product has been one of my favorites new finds. It blends to my skin very well, though it does not blends quite well in darker skin tones, it does not feel sticky at all. How does it works for darker skin tones? Mineral sunscreen tends to leave a white or purplish cast on darker skin tones. This is because they usually contain titanium dioxide or/and zinc dioxide. Versed tried to develop their formula for all skin tones they had in mind, but their product hasn’t necessary work in everyone... The YouTube video by the beauty blogger Simply Ijé shows us how the Versed sunscreen didn’t work quite well as it said it would in her skin tone. It left a mild white cast on her skin. She mentioned, that it wasn’t as bad as other mineral sunscreen, but it definitely wasn’t the best one. About Versed sunscreen: Even thought it is not an expensive sunscreen, it is not quite cheap either. I bought this 1.7 oz of product for $22.00 dollars at target. I know there are better sunscreens to take in consideration. Some of the ones that I believe it won’t leave a white cast are: LA ROCHE-POSAY - Anthelios Melt-in Milk Body & Face Sunscreen Lotion SPF 100 Neutrogena - Sheer Zinc Dry-Touch Sunscreen Lotion with SPF 30 innisfree - Daily UV Defense Sunscreen SPF 36 elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 The versed sunscreen will work better in light to medium skin tones. However, I think the re application will be kind of tricky since it is a mild tinted sunscreen. Investing on a spray sunscreen or in a powder will be very helpful for the ladies who apply make up in a daily basis. -I hope you enjoyed my review for today- 🥰 Have a nice day, and don’t forget to always check the product ingredients. 👀

Target Must-Haves ♥️
Hello lovelies, we’re gonna change it up a bit this month and I’m gonna start showing my monthly restock. The month of August, I decided to restock at Target. I actually went to find @cerave products but found these instead and they have wonderful ratings and been suggested to me by many skincare enthusiasts. ___________________________________________ - (15$ at Target) First thing is @drbronner A gentle, clean, castile soap! Castile soap is an amazingly versatile vegetable-based soap that's made free of animal fats and synthetic ingredients. It has many uses but I mostly use to clean my body, makeup brushes, & laundry. - (21$ at Target) Secondly @versed zinc sunscreen is AMAZING. It contains zinc oxide which helps blend into the skin flawlessly. Also has soothing, hydrating, & antioxidants properties. - (4$ at Target) Lastly I never recommend wiping make up off your face because it doesn’t fully come off and some ingredients in make up wipes and clean your pores clogged. If you MUST.. @simpleskin compostable cleaning wipes is the way to go.

Hyram Recommended👉The BEST face sunscreens for the summer💖
The most important part of a skincare routine is sunscreen, it doesn’t matter how many layers of skincare products you are putting on your face, especially during summer.  Hyram has recommended some of his favorite face sunscreens. Mineral Sunscreens Formulated only with Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide. (Ps. Zinc Oxide is the ingredient that Hyram likes the most) BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Zinc Sheer Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 PA +++($30): your skin could quickly absorb it and the ingredients are so great, which contain squalane and make it more like a moisturizer with sunscreen. For oily skin, you could use it as moisturizer and sunscreen. NO white cast, perfect for darker skin tone.  MDSolarSciences - Mineral Crème SPF 50($30): fragrance-free, formulated with 17% Zinc Oxide with a matte and blurred finish.  FIRST AID BEAUTY - Weightless Liquid Mineral SPF 30($34): feel like a very lightweight tinted moisturizer without fragrance, leave with a matte powdery finish. PURITO - Comfy Water Sun Block($15): formulated with only Zinc Oxide and fragrance-free. The MOST lightweight out of all of them. A little bit white cast but feel like a light gel on the skin.  Drugstore  CeraVe - Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 for Face with Zinc Oxide($13): fragrance-free with high-quality ingredients, but leave with some white cast. Korean Chemical Sunscreens dear, klairs - Soft Airy UV Essence SPF 50 PA ++++ ($24): it feels like nothing and is quickly absorbed by the skin but with some fragrance  Krave - The Beet Shield($20): great for dry skin, lightweight with a glossy finish. No fragrance  Neutrogena - Sheer Zinc Face Dry-Touch Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50 ($16): great for sensitive skin. Formulated with 21% Zinc Oxide, without irritating ingredients. Downside: SEVERE white cast OVERALL BEST PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+($15): hydrating but not heavy at all, and leave with a blurry effect. It contains Centella Asiatica Extract, which could reduce skin redness and sensitivity  Let me know your thoughts on these products in the comments if you used it before! 💖💖💖

My New Beauty Buys! 🌤
Now that summer is over, it’s finally time to start going outside (safely). Summer’s sun is too intense and too hot, so I do my best to avoid going outside. As cooler weather approaches, I’m looking forward to outdoor activities! I believed when I was younger that winter and cloudy weather meant it was safe to go without sunscreen, but then I got burnt on a cloudy day. Did you know up to 80% of UV rays pass through clouds? I sure didn’t. As I look forward to going outside, I knew I needed some sunscreen to keep me safe! First off, Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Sunscreen SPF 50This is a chemical sunscreen, meaning it relies more heavily on chemical sun protection. The active ingredients are: Avobenzone (2.7%), homosalate (9%), octisalate (5%), octocrylene (9%), and oxybenzone (4.5%). The plus side to chemical sunscreens is they likely won’t leave behind a white cast. I will be using this one on my face. Neutrogena is unfortunately NOT my first pick, as they are not cruelty free, vegan, or reef friendly. The ULTA I visited had a small stock of sunscreens ): This sunscreen was $14.99. Second is the sun bum - Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50. This is a mineral sunscreen. Mineral sunscreens tend to rely on either zinc oxide or titanium oxide. It’s recommended, when using a mineral sunscreen, to find one that uses zinc oxide as opposed to titanium oxide. Titanium oxide is slightly less effective. The only active ingredient in this sunscreen is zinc oxide (20%). So far I have not noticed a white cast when applied, however it has a very strong coconut scent. I will be using this one on my body. Sun Bum is cruelty free, vegan, and this sun screen is reef friendly! Sounds like this one is a better find than the Neutrogena one! This sunscreen was also $14.99. Lastly, the sun bum - Original SPF 30 Sunscreen Lip Balm Watermelon. I forget a lot that my lips are also exposed to the sun, but I haven’t done anything to counteract sun damage! So when I saw an spf 30 broad spectrum lip balm, I knew that I had to get it! It smells and tastes just like watermelon candy! The downside to this is if you get any in your mouth, you’re definitely going to taste the SPF. If you’ve accidentally gotten sunscreen in your mouth, you know the taste I’m talking about. This cost $3.99. I’m so excited for cool weather! I can’t wait to go places (as much as we can right now) and feel protected while doing it!

Sunscreen is a must!
Hi guys today I’m gonna talk about sunscreen. What is a sunscreen? 1 : a screen to protect against sun. 2 : a preparation (such as a lotion) applied to the skin to prevent sunburn (as by chemically absorbing ultraviolet radiation) also : its active ingredient (as benzophenone) — compare sunblock https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/sunscreen. • Why wear a sunscreen? You can find out more here https://www.ehe.health/blog/always-wear-sunscreen Neutrogena - Clear Face Oil-Free Sunscreen SPF 55 I love this sunscreen this for acne prone it is very ultra light weight and doesn’t leave a white cast looking it also doesn’t have that heavy sunscreen smell. You can use this for beach or hiking etc. Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 100 Love love this very light weight and easy to apply on face, and etc. doesn’t have a heavy smell either use for beach. Neutrogena - Sheer Zinc Dry-Touch Sunscreen Lotion with SPF 30 I rated this one a three cause it is very thick doesn’t had a heavy sunscreen smell but is will leave a white cast . This product is approved by the national eczema association and pure screen. innisfree - Daily UV Defense Sunscreen SPF 36 Last but not least innisfree. I love this doesn’t smell like sunscreen at all! Smell like a lime sebert to me. It is very lightweight unlike American sunscreen this felt like a primer or water cream for example. I like to use this like driving in my car or going or to a park etc.

My 2 Favorite Skincare Items Under $20
I have combo skin that is sensitive and acne prone. Because of this, it can be hard to find good products that are effective and cheap but I have found two more recently that I ADORE. 💙Healing Ointment by CeraVe This product is about $12 for 5oz and it is amazing. It’s a thicker, clear texture and I generally use it at nighttime as a moisturizer, especially after something like using my retinol because that can be really drying for my skin. I wasn’t fully convinced at first but the next morning after my first use, my skin looked way better. It looked healthier and clearer too. I was shocked! A little goes a long way too and I’ve been using it nightly ever since! This product contains Hyaluronic Acid and ceramides which are of course great for skin hydration. This product can really be used anywhere too so I’ll use it on my body and lips when needed. I highly recommend checking this out, even if you’re acne prone and especially if you need help with your moisture barrier from using other products! 💚 Centella Green Level Unscented Sunscreen This product is $15.90 on Amazon for 2oz. It is a physical screen that is SPF 50 and makes my skin feel hydrated and smooth. I use this on my face after my morning routine and love it. There is no sticky feeling to this product or white cast. It is free of essential oils, suitable for all skin types and has organic UV filters. It’s also of course fragrance free. Sunscreen is so important for your skin and really helps with all of my skin concerns. This doesn’t break me out even after wearing for 12 hours straight and I would definitely repurchase. I discovered both of these products from skincare bloggers and figured why not? I’m SO glad I went for it! I got both of mine from Amazon and you can find them in my Amazon link in my Insta bio if you want to learn more too! CeraVe - Healing Ointment PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+

Why are we not talking about this one more?!
Why are we not talking about this one more?!
Okay - this is one of the best drugstore SPF’s I’ve tried! This is targeted for any skin type and no specific concerns. This sunscreen has broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection and hyaluronic acid all in one. It has a thin water like liquid texture and rubs right in with little to no white cast. I originally purchased this to start being more diligent about applying spf on my hands. Come summer and beach time, I began using this on my face since it was constantly in my purse. This layers well under makeup with no pilling, and no irritation or breakouts! It has a pretty gentle formula as well. I absolutely love this product and will forever repurchase. I purchase this at Walmart and it’s under $10 making it sooo affordable! I can’t recommend this enough 💘 5/5 stars Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Water Gel Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30

The elta md Spf moisturizer is my go to product in the morning. It is meant to protect you from the sun, while keeping your skin moisturized throughout the day. It goes on smooth and doesn’t feel thick or sticky like most SPF’s do. I have been using this product for about 5 years now. One of my family members is a dermatologist and she recommends this to all of her patients, and of course her family! This is one of the only products containing sunscreen that doesn’t break me out. It is the best! I would recommend this product to everybody. The product is definitely worth the $28.50. elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46

An amazing and affordable sunscreen!
An amazing and affordable sunscreen!
Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Water Gel Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 The sunscreen obsession continues... part 2. I love the Neutrogena Hydro Boost moisturizer and body lotions. I find that the light, gel-like consistency works super well with my acne-prone skin and since it’s oil-free, I know it probably won’t clog up my pores. I’ve been on the lookout for this for a while because I swear it wasn’t available in Canadian drugstores until recently but maybe I just completely missed it.... The good: It’s oil-free and non-comedogenic and I haven’t had any breakouts since trying this out. This sunscreen helps block UVA and UVB rays. It has the same consistency as their hydro boost moisturizer so it glides on so easily and doesn’t leave even a bit of white cast, you don’t even need to rub it in to avoid white residue. It absorbs quickly into the skin. It doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy. Since this glides on easily and you don’t need to run it in, it’s ideal for re-applying throughout the day, even if you have makeup on. As long as you’re not wearing too much powder, I don’t think you’ll have any issues layering this on. Its super accessible! It was $10.99 CAD and you can find it at several drugstores. This is such a plus for me because being in Canada I usually need to order my other favourite sunscreens online and wait at least two weeks. The not so good: I really wish they had a fragrance free option. Not that it makes a big deal for me everyday, but if my skin is ever feeling sensitive, I know I will probably reach for a different sunscreen for that reason. I noticed that in one area of my face I had some very minor pilling. Not a big deal and it didn’t mess up my makeup, but I do just want to point it out in case this is really important to other people. Is it worth it? Yes. It’s super affordable and you get a pretty good big bottle compared to my other favourite k beauty sunscreens. Even if you don’t even up using this on your face. I think you’ll definitely be able to use this on your hands and body throughout the summer. Will I repurchase? I might hold out to see if they make a fragrance-free version before purchasing another. But even if they don’t I can see myself making this my go-to body sunscreen for the summer time. But if anyone has any other drugstore suggestions, I’d love to hear them! Ps my skin is combination and acne prone :)

Hydro Boost Water Gel Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30
Neutrogena-Hydro Boost Water Gel Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30
The Neutrogena Hydro Boost Wat
The Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Lotion Sunscreen is one of my favorite drugstore products! This is a sun protectant with an SPF of 50. It is also water resistant for 80 minutes. This sunscreen is perfect for people who have concerns with dry skin. The texture is a watery gel like lotion that is very hydrating. It leaves your skin soft to the touch and doesn’t have a terrible sunscreen scent. I purchased this because it was on sale at Ulta and the “Hydro Boost” line caught my eye. I actually love this sunscreen for the summer time because it feels so hydrating on my skin and also cooling because it is a water gel lotion. I didn’t get any breakouts from this, and my skin felt well protected. I would definitely recommend this product! It is a necessity in everyday life and this particular one is very affordable! I think it would be great for all skin types, but if you are very oily it might just make you look extra shiny. If you have dry skin I think this is amazing all year long, especially in the winter. If you are like me you get the most dry in the winter and sometimes nothing works! This will help! This one is $10 for 3 oz but you can always find this on sale!

My skin type is combo oily that can lean more dry during the weather changes or just randomly. My skin concerns are acne, oiliness throughout the day and also dehydration. I’ve ranked these popular hyped sunscreens based on how they worked for me personally (going from favorite to least favorite). My favorite is Unseen because it’s a primer and sunscreen in one, is lightweight and I haven’t had an issue with pilling. I prefer SPF 40 or higher. . Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 Key Ingredients: Complex Derived from Meadowfoam Seed (increases hydration levels), and Red Algae (helps protect against blue light emitted by electronic devices). Texture/Consistency: Gel Scent: None Price: $34 for 1.7 oz / 50 mL Experience: Is designed to be used as a primer, makes it quicker to get ready. It feels so lightweight, I can’t even tell that I’m wearing it throughout the day, doesn’t pill or make me oily. Repurchase/Recommend?: Yes, I definitely am going to purchase the full size of this! It simplifies my routine and lightweight. . Supergoop! - Play Everyday Lotion 50 Default Title Key Ingredients: Sunflower Extract (protects your skin from external environmental elements) and Rosemary Leaf Extract (has a calming effect on the skin and is rich in antioxidants). Texture/Consistency: Lotion Scent: None Price: $32 for 5.5 oz / 162 mL OR $58 for 18 oz / 532 mL Experience: It was too heavy on top of a moisturizer and made me look greasy, but applied by itself it was lovely (have a glow, but wasn’t too heavy). It also doesn’t pill when I put my makeup on. Repurchase/Recommend?: Yes, it would be more for people with dry skin, but it’s moisturizing enough to act as my moisturizer too so I apply it by itself (or on top of serum). . FIRST AID BEAUTY - Weightless Liquid Mineral SPF 30 Key Ingredients: Zinc Oxide (physical sunscreen that helps filter harmful UV rays) and Alteromonas Ferment Filtrate and Vitamin E (both help protect against environmental aggressors). Scent: None Texture/Consistency: Liquidy Price: $34 for 1.5 oz / 44 mL Experience: I love that this is tinted, it doesn’t leave a white cast at all! It is lightweight, easily sinks in, and doesn’t make me oily throughout the day. It also doesn’t pill at all, so easy to put makeup on after. Repurchase/Recommend?: Maybe, I just wish it was a higher SPF. . DRUNK ELEPHANT - Umbra Tinte Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30 Key Ingredients: Zinc Oxide (physical sunscreen that protects from harmful rays) and Algae Extract and Sunflower Sprout Extract (both protect against free radical damage). Scent: None Texture/Consistency: Lightweight Cream Price: $36 for 2 oz / 60 mL Experience: It feels heavy and doesn’t sink in all the way, plus pilled and made my CC Cream look cakey and terrible. Repurchase/Recommend?: No, it pilled badly and doesn’t work well with makeup on me.
