My skin journey!

The first picture is how my skin is today. The second photo is how my skin USED to be. I would get giant, hormonal, cystic very painful acne all over my face. It’s been a loooong and hard journey. Below I will list my daily skincare steps but I will go in to detail on each product in another post. First- if you see my other posts you will see the MAIN thing that changed my skin was going to see a dermatologist and getting spirinolactone prescribed to me. It was literally life changing. My AM routine: cleanse with a gentle hydrating cleanser, use a vitamin C serum, use moisturizer, and lastly sunscreen before I put on makeup My PM routine: take all my makeup off with a balm, cleanse with a dermatologist recommended benzoyl peroxide cleanser, use a toner, use a dermatologist prescribed retinoid cream, and last I put on moisturizer Every Wednesday night I do a clay mask and every Saturday night I do a chemical peel. Staying consistent on my medication and this routine has provided amazing results for me I’m so happy with my skin! ❤️

I've just started to really get into skincare, and have designed a routine that I think is doing me better? I'm looking for suggestions, I have sensitive, acne prone skin that burns super easily in the sun. I have improved the quality of my skin with the changes I've made from just cleansing and moisturizing to adding in some serums, but I just wonder if there are any products that might be helpful for me. I'm a college student looking for more budget options that I can get at a local Ulta or possibly even Target. Please leave suggestions!!

Anokha is a natural skincare brand that is super gentle on the skin. No more extreme drying or irritation of the skin! Their products cater to a variety of skin types. My skin is usually super oily but has been very dry lately because of all of the harsh chemicals I’ve been using for cleansing and to keep my acne at bay. These products have been helping to add moisture much needed back into my skin. ✨Anokha Oatmeal Cleansing Milk - This products smells amazing. As you rub it in it starts to turn white and foamy and I can really feel it working to remove oil and dirt from the surface of my skin. It cleanses without completely stripping my skin of moisture and does not irritate my skin at all like some of those harsh acne face washes. It gently exfoliates And leaves skin feeling soft! ✨ Anokha Jasmine Serum - MY SKIN DRINKS THIS STUFF UP! It is so light and hydrating and it absorbs into my skin instantly. It leaves my skin feeling refreshed and has a very clean floral scent. One issue I have with the product is the packaging it is glass so you can’t squeeze the bottle but the hole that the serum comes from is tiny and barely any product comes out. I find myself having to pop the piece, that the product should come out of, off to get the product out. This product is also a bit pricey but it is a real treat for my skin I haven’t found a product that makes my skin feel as smooth. The cleansing milk does claim to even skin tone. I felt like the products worked to cleanse my skin without over drying or irritating and hydrate my skin but it did nothing for my hyperpigmentation.

hi!! i have super oily skin which gets oily about 2 hours after cleansing and it’s like a pool of oil on my face in the morning. haha i know, it sounds gross. i just started using DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel again which i had used last year but didn’t see any results, which was probably because of my poor diet, so i decided to try it again! for a cleanser in the morning i use the everyday cleanser from suzanne organics (something i just had laying around and i thought i should use it up) and The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%and after that i use Neutrogena - Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel Moisturizer. at night i cleanse with CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skinand moisturize with the same one from the morning routine and then i apply the differin. i have tried many many products and have tried to stick with them for a while but i haven’t seen much difference, for a little while it works but then my skin goes back to how it is now. also any product i use for oily skin doesn’t seem to work either that well. help!!

Breaking up with my dermatologist
Breaking up with my dermatologist
Hi all, Here is the first post in my ongoing skincare journey! I am currently 26 years old, and am a starving artist living my best life. ✨ I have sensitive combination skin with severe recurring cystic hormonal acne that has plagued me since my teenage years. Seriously, in 8th grade my face looked like a pizza. I also had braces, was the first in my class to get my period, and was about a foot taller than everyone else. Tough luck. In 9th grade my mom took me to a dermatologist who SAVED MY SKIN. I believe I was on epiduo forte topical lotion and internal antibiotics. The problem is that the antibiotics MURDERED my guy biome, and for the last few years of college I suffered from a combination of IBS, constant nausea, and hormonal acne brought on by stress, the antibiotics, and a lack of sleep. In short - BAD COMBO. Since I just turned 26, my insurance has changed, which means dermatology is no longer covered. I am actually thinking this is a good thing - for the last few years, I have felt that my dermatologist is not listening to me, and about 12 years into our doctor/patient relationship I STILL do not have the skin I want. She has thrown every product at me. I mean you name it - sulfur, 3 different types of retinoids, multiple types of topical antibiotics, benzoil peroxide, the list goes on. I just barely keep pushing the cystic acne on my cheeks back, while the rest of my skin suffers. I have white heads and black heads on my T-zone, my skin is often flaky and dry, and the pores on my butterfly zone are enlarged and have the dreaded “orange peel” texture, interspersed ced with larger acne scars. My dermatologist kept saying we would deal with those problems once we got rid of the serious acne, and that enlargened pores are just part of aging (aka there is nothing she could do about it.) But you know what? It never happened. My skin is still suffering. I love being creative with makeup, and it is hard to do this with such a damaged canvas. Also, I work in the entertainment industry, where sadly, being a woman, how you look affects how much money you make. So. Rant over. Thank you for bearing with me! 🙌🏽😘 Above are my current night and day routine, with the actives I am currently prescribed. Neither the dapsone gel nor the clindamycin phosphate dry/damage my skin, but I am not sure if they are doing anything either. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I just did a shit-ton of research, and have ordered some new products. My hope is to repair my damaged skin barrier and focus on nourishing my skin rather than punishing hing it. Stay tuned to see my revamped skincare routine. I am taking this into my own hands! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽

I struggle with mild acne, dark spots, congestion and redness. Throughout my teen years I had troubled skin but became almost PERFECT when I was using curology ( Curology - Curology formula). After about a year it just completely stopped working and I’ve been lost ever since. That was 3 years ago. I used to have dry skin but when I moved to Florida I developed a lot of congestion and an aesthetician told me I have very oily skin combined with being an athlete that sweats a lot I should use a Micro-foliate face wash. I use the dermalogica rice powder and I do see a difference but still not all gone (dermalogica - Daily Microfoliant Exfoliator). A few weeks ago I was routinely doing chemical peels to fix my dark spots which seemed to be doing well and I was happy with it (Mad Hippie - Mad Hippie Exfoliating Serum) Mad Hippie - Vitamin A SerumMad Hippie - Vitamin C Serum Then I added in an deep cleanser acne wash to try and help with the congestion again DERMA•E - Acne Deep Pore Cleansing Wash. BIG BIG mistake. After using it religiously for a week it BURNED my skin around my nose, lips and chin. ( this was about a month ago) I was extremely frustrated so I stopped everything and just washed my face with water (my boyfriend’s skin care routine) my skin started to calm down but then I was getting a lot of hormonal acne and painful cystic acne. So I started the microfoliant again and spot treat with MARIO BADESCU - Mario Badescu Drying Lotion which works very well for active breakouts. I’m looking to add in a basic calming face wash but I’m not sure which one I should use? Please help I feel like I’ve done everything. Also how do I heal the skin around my nose? I’ve tried a deep moisturizer and Vaseline....
