Niacinamide For Acne, Dark Marks and More!
Hailed as the new "it" and “holy grail” ingredient in skincare, niacinamide is an active form of Vitamin B3. It's available in many skin care products and one of the best you can add to your skincare routine! Not all formulas and concentrations are the same or function the same ways. So here are the top products I’ve tried and all about how niacinamide works: PAULA'S CHOICE - Niacinamide 20% Treatment

Which Niacinamide would you choose?
This is definitely not a dupe situation. These two formulas are only similar in the fact that they contain the same amount of niacinamide (as well as some texture and preservative agents). I’ve been a longtime user of The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and it does work, but I felt after my first bottle I wasn’t getting any continued results. I was also left unimpressed and looking for a different option due to the fact that this is a very tacky formula that can be difficult to work with. TO includes zinc in their formula which they state can reduce acne and can be anti-inflammatory. At $6 you’re getting your 2 active ingredients; niacinamide and zinc. PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster includes the same 10% of niacinamide but doesn’t stop there. They also add vitamin C and a BUNCH of calming, hydrating and restoring products that your skin needs (see attached ingredient list). It’s been a controversy whether or not vitamin C and Niacinamide can be used together, even The Ordinary suggests that their Niacinamide not be used at the same time as vitamin C. Many brands and consumers have disagreed. Paula’s Choice adds the protective ingredients to ensure you’ll have less of a chance of irritation. Paula’s Choice serum is a lightweight watery formula that leaves no residue and I find easy to work into my routine. I wasn’t quite prepared for the thin formula as The Ordinary has more of a tacky texture. I found it best to add it directly from the dropper to my face, versus my hands then face. When it comes to the price difference it does seem that The Ordinary would be the obvious choice. I’m not one that believes that quality skincare has to cost more. But Paula’s Choice formula offers much more than Niacinamide. You’re getting several ingredients that are not found in The Ordinary, hence the price difference. Once I’ve emptied my bottle I’ll be better able to determine if spending 4x’s the amount is worth it. I could choose to use a less expensive option and add the antioxidants and other skin-replenishing ingredients found in Paula’s Choices formula, but I have to admit, I do like the simplicity of fewer steps in my skincare routine. 😉 There are also several other options available that I’ve not yet tried. I have tried The Inkey List and it is just a tad bit less tacky than The Ordinary. Other brand options I’d be open to try are: Good Molecules $6 - formula looks similar to TO and TIL with the only active ingredient being niacinamide Naturium $16 - 10% niacinamide and 2% zinc Good Molecules $14 - similar again to TO and TIL I LOVE how Paula’s Choice lists their ingredients. Behind each one you’ll find out how it benefits the skin. This saves me a TON of time and effort when doing my reviews! Individual reviews on The Ordinary and The Inkey List Niacinamide can be found on my page. What’s your favorite Niacinamide to use? ❤️🍒
FINALLY! It’s mine!
This is one brand I’ve been stalking and I’ve finally got my hands on the highly raved, much talked about PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator I’d say what really draws me to this particular brand is its commitment to highly effective, well tested products. I feel they really listen to their customers and value their feedback. Well, imagine my surprise when in pops an email from a Paula’s Choice social media team member asking for my address to send me some products just for being me?!? I couldn’t respond fast enough with a...., “YES!” I’m not sure why I’ve been sleeping on this brand for so long. I follow so many diehard fans that swear and have visual proof of the changes their products have made. I have a feeling it’s all going to change after this... Just a little about PC if you haven’t heard of the brand (taken from the website) : Did you know that the founder, Paula was actually fired from her job working at a cosmetic counter for explaining to a customer what products could and couldn’t do for their skin? (This is what we need more of!! I was immediately drawn to the brand when I first heard about that!) Our Philosophy Science & Truth Highly Effective Formulary Excellence Non-irritating & Fragrance Free Multi-faceted Formulas Cruelty Free Packaged for Potency Environmentally Conscious On the website you can find Skincare Quizzes that can help you develop a Instant Routine or develop a more in-depth Routine at no cost! You can also find Expert Advice Articles on just about any subject you’re curious about. Have a question about ingredients? They have every ingredient known in the beauty industry—-a go-to resource for everyone! Everyone needs to use this! With Paula’s Choice you can choose individual skincare products or you can have an entire skincare routine developed from start to finish! I’ve had on my wishlist, along with the exfoliator I just received, their PAULA'S CHOICE - Resist C15 Super Booster PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster PAULA'S CHOICE - Peptide Booster PAULA'S CHOICE - Anti-Aging Eye Gel Honestly, I want to try it all! I’d probably start swapping out some of the products I currently use for similar items. For instance, I am looking for a replacement vitamin c so I’d trade mine out for theirs. Then the Niacinamide and Hyaluronic and so on. I’m definitely going to do the skincare quiz and see what’s recommended for me! Do you use any Paula’s Choice products? What’s your favorite? Please share! 😘 I’ll be back in a few weeks to tell you what I think of this exfoliator! ❤️🍒
When your skin literally looks like an 🍊 peel..
🍊Orange Peel Skin? Wtf? ”Orange Peel Skin” is referring to a texture of the skin - when pores appear large, more dimpled, + even lax/droopy. People with this texture (🙋♀️) can never get makeup to look right! 🍊What causes it? SUM DAMAGE ☀️🔥🆘 - caused by years of unprotected exposure to UV rays. Sun damage promotes + speeds up the aging process of our skin. Slowing down the production of collagen + elastin, the stuff that is the glue holding our pores together, causes pores to appear larger and saggy or stretched. 🧐AGE - Aging affects our skins production of collagen + elastin in the same way as sun damage. They slow down. Derms say this usually starts happening in our 20s + we need to take preventative care starting then. Aging also slows our cell turnover rate, making it likely that cells will build up around the pores, enhancing their shadows and making them appear larger 💦DEHYDRATION/Compromised skin barrier -!Dehydration is just plain bad for the skin, obviously. But when our skin is in this condition, our sebaceous glands overproduce, leaving a cellophane-like, rough+shiny sheen to our skin - increasing the appearance of texture + pores. 👩🔬What can we do? Remember that actual pore size is fully determined by genetics, and pores do not shrink or close or open. However, there are steps we can take to reduce the appearance of pores ☺️ 💦Hydrate + Moisturize - use hydrating serums & moisturizers with good ingredients like Hyaluronuc Acid, Glycerin, ceramides, peptides, oils with omega fatty acids, panthenol, aloe, + great occlusives to lock in that moisture 💪Retinol - using an OTC or prescription strength retinol will increase the rate of skin cell turnover. Meaning you will speed up the process of shedding those dead skin cells and pushing all the gunk in your skin + to the surface to leave. This leaves behind healthier, plumper, less damaged skin. Make sure you use retinols safely! ✨Exfoliating Treatments - Using a mild exfoliating leave on treatment in toner or serum form every day or using stronger wash off treatments 1-3x a week will smooth out texture. Using a combination of AHA or PHA with BHA will be effective as they work on different levels of our skin. 🐄Collagen Supplements - because the loss of collagen is at least partially responsible for orange peel skin, replenishing collagen levels in our body will plump skin. Collagen is too large of a molecule to penetration the epidermis when applied topically, thus to reap benefits taken supplements is the most effective way to encourage collagen production Products I use- GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon Glow PHA+BHA Pore-Tight Toner GLOW RECIPE - Avocado Melt Retinol Sleeping Face Mask SATURDAY SKIN - Bright Potion Probiotic Power Serum PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator HERBIVORE - Prism 20% AHA + 5% BHA Exfoliating Glow Facial
Saturday skin brand spotlight!
The Saturday skin pretty pop probiotic power whipped cream is a soft and luxurious whipped cream with probiotics activated by probiotics for healthy and radiant looking skin! It can be solutions for fine lines, wrinkles, dryness, loss of firmness and elasticity. The texture of this is so creamy and thick and it feels like you are putting whipped cream on your face, it is so soft and dense and does a great job at moisturizing my face! I have been using this for about 3 months and I purchased it from a friend recommending it to me, and I fell in love. It didn’t make me break out, it’s so so hydrating, and I saw great results in my skins moisture level! I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for an amazing moisturizer for dry or oily skin. It is more on the pricier side but is so worth it! This is why this is one of my favorite products from Saturday skin! Another one of my favorite products the Saturday skin wide awake brightening eye cream is a hydrating eye cream with date seed extract that illuminates and refreshes the eye area! It can help dryness, dark circles, and puffiness under the eyes. The texture of this is a very lightweight cream, that is so cooling under the eyes but moisturizes so nice! I purchased this eye cream about 3 months ago in a set with 3 other products from Saturday skin because when this set came out I knew I had to get it, and when I tried it I immediately fell in love. I use it so often and will definitely repurchase after I run out! It is so hydrating, didn’t break me out, and I saw great results in my dark circles when I woke up the morning after using it. I would certainly recommend this to others because it is so amazing and really helps with dark circles and feels so light and creamy under the eyes! It is $46 for 1.01oz which is a great size because you literally only need a little dot to cover both under eyes! One of my least favorite products from the brand is the Saturday skin bright potion probiotic power serum it is a potent serum enriched with encapsulated probiotics activated by probiotics creating a powerful solution for luminous and healthy looking skin! This serum can be used for normal, dry, oily, and combination skin types. This can be solutions for acne prone skin, dryness, and fine lines, wrinkles, dullness, and uneven texture! The texture of this is a thick gel/cream that has little probiotics in it that dissolve in your skin! I have used this for about 3 months and got it in a set with other mini Saturday skin products and really havent seen any results with this serum! This serum didn’t break me out but is really no better then any of my other serums. This product is definitely not worth purchasing for the price of $51 for 1oz because it is not worth it when there are way better cheaper versions out there! I really do love most Saturday skin products though and would definitely recommend trying out this incredible brand, just because some products didn’t work out for me they may be amazing for you! I found this brand about 6 months just from all the hype on instagram! They then came out with a set with four of there products in mini size on Sephora and I immediately got it, it was very well priced as well and I fell in love with all there products!SATURDAY SKIN - Wide Awake Brightening Eye Cream with Avocado SATURDAY SKIN - Pretty Pop Probiotic Power Whipped Cream SATURDAY SKIN - Bright Potion Probiotic Power Serum

Give me the SkinCeuticals Dupe!!!👆👆👆
I have combination-oily skin and I'm always looking for skincare products good at whitening, brightening, and lightening acne scars. I have previously tried the SkinCeuticals Discoloration Defense Skin Discoloration Serum and found it worked quite well on me. The SKINCEUTICALS - Discoloration Defense Skin Discoloration Serum has a slightly sticky liquid texture. It's moisturizing when applied on the skin but it's better to follow it up with other moisturizing skincare products too. It brightens skin complexion, reduces acne marks, and corrects skin tone. I use 6 to 8 drops every day and night. You have to massage the acne marks for the serum to be fully absorbed and result in a lightening effect. If you're going for a whitening effect, you have to use it consistently without reducing the dosage. SkinCeuticals is very expensive-$98 for 30ml, so I decided to look for a more affordable alternative. And finally I found KOSMEA - Revive Illuminating Essence Kosmea is one of Australia's well-known organic skin care brands. Their Revive Illuminating Essence has a brownish-yellow oil texture which is the same as the SkinCeuticals Discoloration Defense Skin Discoloration Serum. The Kosmea essence has a rosehip essential oil scent which feels great on the skin. I have oily skin so I'm always hesitant to try oils. This particular oil did make my skin look oily when first applied, but it's soon fully absorbed after massaging it in without a strong odor. It also doesn't become lumpy when I apply my Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream afterwards. Great for extra nighttime hydration and I did notice slight lightening of some dark spots . As it contains plenty of fat soluble vitamin C, you can also use this essence in the morning as it doesn't cause photosensitivity. Some of my friends told me that I look fairer after using this essence for a few weeks. It only takes $ 39.95 for 20ml. You can try it out if you think that SkinCeuticals is too expensive.
PEACE OUT - Microneedling Dark Spot Brightening Dots yeah being fully honest, I do not recommend these. I was hopeful when first buying them because I figured the microneedling would take the ingredients straight to the source but after two weeks (like instructions say) I did not see much change. There’s no point in even showing a before and after. In theory they are great.. but I’m guessing this product would only work if you constantly put the patches over a long period of time but it only comes with 12 and I have MULTIPLE dark spots. It sucks that they didn’t work since they are pricey. I know you have to be patient with most products but I just wish they didn’t advertise is it as a huge transformation in just “two weeks”. Very few products do those types of transformations. Anyway, take my experience with a grain of salt and do your own research!! Maybe it could work for you and your skin!! ✨✨✨
Peace out you guys
PEACE OUT - Microneedling Dark Spot Brightening Dots So out of all three of these, I felt like I got the most of out the Dark spots— Niacinamide and Licorice Extract microneedling dots, I really did see a visible difference in a fairly short period of time (precisely after two applications) which is huge considering that scars and pigmentations take quite a bit of time to fade from my skin. About the PEACE OUT - Peace Out Wrinkles I noticed a few fine lines growing deeper on the left side of my face and decided the time to act was now, I didn’t notice much a difference in terms of a fuller looking face. However, I do feel by using these patches on my skin, the physical barrier (as well as the direct shot of retinol in my skin) has helped prevent these spots from looking any worse. PEACE OUT - Peace Out Pores After trying out the wrinkle and dark spot patches, I had very high hopes for this one. It did not live up to my expectations. No oil or dirt or anything for that fact was sucked out of my face, it just left a deep fold in my face (because I sleep in my sides and my stomach, which probably caused it to wrinkle at an angle). I feel like I didn’t get what I wanted out of this and don’t recommend it to anyone with white heads and black heads, or even just plain enlarged pores.

Why does my skin react different night vs day?
Over the years I have gone through hundreds of products figuring out what works for me. I have finally found a good set of products that I love, but sometimes when I use certain products in the daytime (such as Bio-Oil - Multiuse Skincare Oil and certain facemasks, I breakout so much worse than I do when I use the same exact product at night! I am confused by this so I have been wondering if it’s related to my oil levels throughout the day or what? Should I be using more drying products in the day time and hydrating at night? The only ones that really work for me day and night are The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and THE BODY SHOP - Jumbo Tea Tree Oil although I know Hyram has said oils are not for the face
getting off makeup and clear skin with rosacea!
okay... so I know I've posted this before, and Cherie is (devastatingly) closing down, but I thought I'd share one last post. This really works. one is a prescription and there are a couple items missing, so I'll add them to the pictures. Here is the order they say to put on skincare (as depicted) 1) makeup remover/wash (I use Queen Helene cold cream that I SWEAR by, sometimes BURT’S BEES - BURT‘S BEES Sensitive Facial Cleanser ) 2) Facewash/second face wash (I use DERMA•E - Sensitive Skin Cleanser and Joeseph anti Acne soap 10% sulfur) 3) Toner (I use THAYERS - Rose Petal Facial Toner ) 4) Serums (I use a few... my prescription Amzeeq, mostly The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% , and DERMA•E - Blue Light Shield Concentrated Serum ) 5) Spot Treatments (Murad - Invisiscar Resurfacing Treatment , tea tree oil when needed) 6) Eye Cream (not pictured - DERMA•E - Firming DMAE Eye Lift Cream ) 7) Moisturizer (2 different kinds depending on how dry I am- pictured: Alba Botanica Aloe Green tea moisturizer, not pictured: skinfix - Barrier+ Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream ) 8) Retinol: Now, because I have rosacea, I use a retinol alternative. The best one for sensitive skin I found is The Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion use at night only) 9) Face Oil: HEAR ME OUT: If you have oily skin, it's not the WORST thing to use an oil. As a matter of fact, it may work well. BEST ONE BY FAR IS ROSEHIP OIL. I can't tell you how amazing it is The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil , and JOSIE MARAN - Pure Argan Milk Intensive Hydrating Treatment during the day) wear sunscreen during the day, and put it in place of retinol. I use Glossier. - Invisible Shield Daily Sunscreen it's a great light moisturizer, too. And at night in the winter if it's super dry, I'll put petroleum jelly around the corners of my eyes and lips. The results don't lie, Cherie babes (: comment below I'd you know of a better eye cream.

The Perfect Trio!
It has been two weeks since I have incorporated Paul's Choice into my routine and I think that it is time that I give you guys an honest review on the products that I have been using! I found Paul's Choice on Cherie. I feel in love with everyone positive review and I knew I needed to get my hands on their products. PAULA'S CHOICE - Niacinamide 20% Treatment : I LOVE this product! When I learned that Paul's Choice had a 20% version, I was instantly sold. When I first started using this product 2 weeks ago, I was experiencing some cystic acne on my chin. I though to myself there is no way that this product is going to help heal this! I am glad to say that I was wrong! This product helped to clear my cystic acne and I have expereinced minimized pores on my nose and chin! This product has reduced my sebum production and I am experiencing less pimples and I am not an oil slick all the time! PAULA'S CHOICE - 1% Retinol Treatment with Peptides + Vitamin C : This is another amazing product that I love from this brand. I love that Paul's Choice retinol is a light lotion and not a serum. It sinks into my skin beautifully in comparison to a serum! Since using this product I have noticed visibly refined pores. PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster : This is another product that I could not pass up from buying! I love that this product is lightweight and non-greasy. I actually mix this product into my moisturizer and then apply it to my face and neck. So far I have seen a reduction in the appearance of blemishes that I have on my face and fading of some post-breakout marks! PAULA'S CHOICE - Resist Anti-Aging Eye Gel This product is not pictured because i returned it. I am giving this product a 2 star rating because my skin reacted to this product. Upon application it was cooling to my under eyes and then it burned very badly. I first use the product during my nightly routine and the burning did not stop until the next night even after washing the product off of my under eye. I am disappointed that my skin reacted to this product because I was excited to incorporate an eye cream into my routine. I experience dark circles and fine lines under my eyes. I was hoping this eye cream would correct this! I hope to find an eye cream that my skin is compatible with soon. I feel that these three products so far have contribute to my skin clearing up! I have been in an endless cycle of buying so many products that have not worked for my skin. I am glad that I did not give up because if I did I would not have found Paul's Choice! I would recommend these products to anyone who are looking to target minimization of pores, and reduction of blemish appearances!
Paula’s Choice Cult Favorites
A few days ago, I received a package that I have been anticipating for a while now, Paula’s Choice! I have been looking into switch around many products in my skincare routine, and when I found Paula’s choice I immediately feel in love with the products and the reviews. I knew I had to get my hands on them. At first, I was skeptical about what sizes to purchase. I was afraid that I bought full sizes of all of the products on my list I wouldn’t like them. So for a majority of the products I bought travel sizes, with an exception to two full size products. Full size products: PAULA'S CHOICE - Niacinamide 20% Treatment PAULA'S CHOICE - Daily Pore-Refining Treatment with 2% BHA Travel Size Products PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator PAULA'S CHOICE - Pore Normalizing Cleanser PAULA'S CHOICE - 1% Retinol Treatment with Peptides + Vitamin C PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster I’ll admit when I originally purchased these products, I was being cheap and the travel sizes looked a little bit more bigger online than in person. I personally contacted Paul’s Choice to ask for an estimation for how long the travel size products would last. I was told that travel sizes last one week. I decided to return all of my travel sizes and get full sizes. I wanted to be able to give myself and my followers proper usage and review of these products. I may repurchase the travel sizes when I go on vacation. Stay turned for full size first impressions and in-depth product details in the next few days!

Can I give 10 stars?
I have to say what I have just emptied today PETER THOMAS ROTH - Pro Strength Niacinamide Discoloration Treatment is my life saver. I have significant amount of dark spots caused by unprotected sun exposure in younger days, lol, of course. Before I started using this, I rely on full coverage foundation and heavy duty concealer to cover them. I have been using PETER THOMAS ROTH - Pro Strength Niacinamide Discoloration Treatment consistently for 8 months and now I’m comfortable using medium coverage of foundation and ok not to use concealer. This is how I tell it worked. I only use it as spot treatment rather than full face application. I used many PTR products in different categories but this is the best of the best!!
My PTR FAMILY
My overall feeling is they are quite potent whatever the product is. They do their jobs effectively. You will feel being treated really.
TOP 3 FOR ACNE PRONE SKIN
1. BLUME - Meltdown Oil for Acne-Prone Skin wow. Wow. Wow. She’s great. I use this product as a spot treatment directly on active spots. Also on budding cystic acne she breaks it down pretty quickly (1-3days it’s GONE). I’ve seen others mix in with moisturizer - my skin needs to soak this product in separately in order to actually gain the benefits of a moisturizer afterwards. I use this twice ++++ daily and I have NOT burned/over dried. Highly suggest if you have acne prone skin/combo/mild cystic acne like myself. The scent/colour is purely a result of the natural oils inside* 2. The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% THE BEST VIT C serum I have tried. I mix this in with a moisturizer in the morning/evening and damn what a glow getter. I’m on my second lil bottle and will continue to repurchase as not only the price point (which is a bargain at $10) but the very real benefits are astounding. Again, doesn’t dry me out. Helps immensely with uneven skin tone, REDNESS, dark spots/lifting acne scars. You will see results over time, remember exfoliating serums/products take weeks!! Just a few drops will do!! 3. The Ordinary - Retinol 0.2% in Squalane This was my first time introducing a retinol to my regime (hence the very low %, if you’re beginning I suggest this). A game changer. As I’ve reached a point with my acne where I feel it’s relatively under control (knock on wood) I felt I could begin a retinol and not fear the wrath of burnt broken skin. I have deep set wrinkles on my forehead/crows feet (thank u astigmatism) and use this product 1-2 times a week exclusively at NIGHT depending on how my acne is doing. My face does have a slight warmth to it directly after use but I promise it is not a slow burning of your skin. It is simply the retinol doing its job and driving blood to the surface for collagen production/cell turnover. This is another product where results take weeks to become visible but like anything skincare related, it takes its sweet time. These are my HOLY GRAIL products. My skin simply cannot survive without them. I hope some of the info was helpful/informative!!!
The Ordinary-Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%
Why niacinamide is my holy grail ingredient...
Okay so this product is a new love for me. I need to delve into a story time for you guys... So last year I started using The Ordinary’s Niacinamide 10% + Zinc serum after hearing rave reviews from people with cystic acne and pimples and it gave me CHEMICAL BURNS. Horrifying experience all around. So I ditched it, and swore off niacinamide forever... That is until I tried the Summer Fridays Jet Lag mask which has a high-ish concentration of niacinamide...and it didn’t break me out. So then after a while of only having niacinamide in my routine in that mask, I thought I should go with a higher quality niacinamide formula and ended up splurging on the Paula’s Choice 10% niacinamide booster: PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster My skin type is sensitive, rosacea acne-prone, and before I used this product I had insane “orange peel” skin texture where the majority of my pores live. Wait wait, back up: what does niacinamide even do???! Well, it reduces sebum production in the skin which in turn makes your pores appear smaller but this is usually only with the use of a BHA to keep your pores cleaned out. I use this product mixed in with a hyaluronic acid toner or serum immediately after cleansing both AM and PM daily. This is the product that has made a huge difference in my skin texture the most. I am still wondering what is different between the Ordinary’s serum and this one, but I am never looking back! I would recommend this if you’re looking to “treat yo self” on a formula and you have orange-peel textured skin. This is kind of pricey at $44 for .67oz but when you’re only using a few drops a day, it lasts a very long time. I have been using it for about a month now and I am barely 20% through my bottle. I have to rate it 5/5 stars for my experience with it!!
PAULA'S CHOICE-10% Niacinamide Booster
The goat of skincare
This is the # 1 product in my skin care arsenal. I’m on my second bottle which is unheard of! I rarely ever repurchase a product. I use this every morning and it has been the only thing that has kept my acne at bay. It also helps with clearing up past acne scars and brightens up your face with a nice glow. The anti aging part is also an added bonus!
dermalogica-Age Bright Clearing Serum
Acne’s Worst Nightmare
I wanted to share a product I’m so thankful for. #Apassioni is a retinol that has been working well for me to keep my skin flat and soft! It’s helping clean up my scarring and prevent acne and will hopefully keep me looking youthful by preventing wrinkles. I love the smell of this stuff so much so I actually get so excited when I get to use it! The packaging is a little annoying, but if you make sure to only squeeze from the top you should be good. You only need a pea size amount for the whole face and it’s best used with lots of moisture after as your skin can dry out from the cell regeneration. Retinol works from the deeper layers up so its always a process to see results! I’m hoping my skin keeps getting more and more clear the longer I use this. I suggest starting out slow with 1-2x a week and then increase to every other day. I am using #tlcFramboos for surface exfoliation in rotation with this. It’s what really works on my acne which I can’t seem to shake. DRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni Retinol Cream
DRUNK ELEPHANT-A-Passioni Retinol Cream
A few of you might remember that I received the Age Bright Clearing Serum, respectively Age Bright Spot Fader literally as I walked out on my way to Tenerife. I was very happy because I knew already that I will breakout. If you wonder why, in general, what I eat reflects on my face due some internal conditions. . I have used both products at least once a day for nearly 3 weeks (no other spot treatments or products) and here are my first thoughts. . AGE Bright Clearing Serum - designed for adult skin to prevent breakouts and target signs of ageing. Stellar ingredients are Salicylic Acid, Niacinamide paired with White Shiitake Mushroom for brightening purposes, Resurrection Plant for hydration and a specific complex to combat acne. TEXURE: a thick serum, similar to an ampoule, absorbs beautifully and completely, gives a nice glow and can be layered well with other products. Great under makeup. THOUGHTS: I found it very calming and brightening. I do feel like it worked to prevent blackheads (had no pb at all whilst away), but what I love the most is that provides hydration while evening my skin tone. . AGE BRIGHT SPOT FADER - a multi-tasking product created to reduce inflammation (active) and the after red marks. Combines Niacinamide with Salicylic Acid and Hexylresorcinol to target PIH. Love the tube, comes with a silicone application, which you can switch on and off (awesome). . TEXURE: emulsion-like, absorbs beautifully, makeup can be applied on top (if you want to use both am & pm). . THOUGHTS: I used this sometimes twice a day (I had some minor spots and minor cysts). I found it very effective, minor spots were gone over night (without a trace), some in a couple of days, they cysts however, took a bit longer to treat (5-6 days for medium stubborn cysts). I have no PIH left apart from one medium cyst which I picked up (partially my fault), other than that, in my experience I do find they help with PIH, however not necessarily at the fastest speed. .
dermalogica-Age Bright Clearing Serum
Azelaic Acid: You Need This In Your Routine
Azelaic acid is amazing. It occurs naturally on the skin and is produced by grains in labs, holding anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties rather unique to such a gentle, multifaceted antioxidant. It helps with skin texture, redness, uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation, rosacea, and even minimizes the look of active breakouts. All of the pictured products are free of fragrance, alcohol, and essential oils. facetheory - PoreBright Serum N10 ($19 per 30mL) features star ingredients like 10% azelaic acid, 10% niacinamide, salicylic acid (<2%), aloe, and sodium hyaluronate to calm skin while addressing issues like congested pores, uneven tone, acne, oily skin... it’s a versatile serum that I enjoyed. The serum is light and moisturizing, with good spreadability. This is the gentlest of the three in my experience. PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster ($36 per 30 mL) is a game-changer. I enjoyed FaceTheory N10, but something about PC’s formulation transformed my acne experience. 10% Azelaic acid, salicylic acid (<2%), licorice root extract, allantoin, and a variety of humectants + emollients come together in this light gel-cream to give significant texture-smoothing, tone-correcting, acne-preventing results. Whenever I apply this in the AM (which it is gentle enough to do), my blemishes are reduced remarkably by the evening. I also have seen such significant fading of my acne scars that I already got a back-up! Its cream formula allows for use as a spot treatment if you prefer that. This is my favourite of the three pictured. The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% ($7.90 per 30mL) is a simple formula, with 10% Azelaic acid and vitamin e as the star ingredients in a variety of silicones and emollients. I noticed significant hyperpigmentation reduction with this cream, but I cannot stand the silicone texture. It has a strange grit to it, no matter how much I shake up the bottle. I also think my skin dislikes heavy silicones, as I experienced increased breakouts when using this, despite the wonderful brightening and calming properties it has. Not sure I’d recommend this unless your skin handles silicone well. The matte finish would probably be enjoyed by oily skin types.

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
