Fight Acne with Retinoids and Retinol to GLOW ✨

🚨If you suffer from stubborn acne (like I have) you may want to consider adding OTC retinoids to your routine! 🔑Retinoids, a vitamin A derivative, are a key player in the skincare industry. Many studies have proven retinoids fight acne, promote collagen, reduce wrinkles and hyperpigmentation to give skin a healthy glow. The good news is now there are plenty of options for Rx strength one now available OTC! 💁🏻‍♀️I only mentioned products I’ve use and that work! Best OTC Rx Strength Adapalene 0.1% proactiv - Adapalene Gel 0.1% Acne Treatment
DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel
LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Adapalene Gel .01% Topical Retinoid Acne Treatment
This former prescription-only retinoid works to unclog pores by slowing pore lining growth and reduces the skin’s sensitivity to inflammation! This is a great introductory retinoid if you’ve never used any before. ✨Prevents pimple formation ✨Speeds blemish healing time ✨Reduces inflammation and redness ✨Evens skin tone and texture ✨Anti-aging benefits Best OTC Retinol Serums Why do I like OTC retinoids better than retinol? Retinol actually takes much longer to work. In fact, because retinol must convert at the cellular level of the skin, it can take 6 months to a year before seeing results. Retinol can be 20x less effective than a Rx strength retinoids. Murad - Retinol Youth Renewal Serum
dermalogica - Retinol Acne Clearing Oil
SUNDAY RILEY - A+ High-Dose Retinol Serum
The Ordinary - Retinol 0.2% in Squalane
The Ordinary - Retinol 0.2% in Squalane
DRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni Retinol Cream
✨Gentle formulas - good for sensitive skin ✨Decrease fine lines over time ✨Serums contain other skin hydrating ingredients Myths True and False: ⚡️Retinoids thin your skin - FALSE They actually strengthen your skin by promoting collagen production. ⚡️Retinoids have drying side effects - TRUE and FALSE When you start using retinoids, skin may go through a process of Retinization, the adjustment period in which dryness, flaking and redness can occur. Symptoms subside in about 4 weeks and are almost eliminated my using a great moisturizer. ⚡️You should wait till your older to use retinoids - FALSE Retinoids and retinol are safe to use ages 12 and up! 💁🏻‍♀️Right now, I personally use Proactive adapalene 0.1% for acne fighting and anti-aging at the same time! How save retinoids improved your skin?

night night routine
My night time skin care roitine is a ritual. It's my "It's time to decompress, remove the day and transition to a relaxing evening" time. I start by using my micellar water and baby washcloth and remove me eye and facial make. Then, I wash my face with my Cetaphil face wash. After patting my face dry, I pat on some Revolution Bakuchiol Serum. Then I move on to the Revolution Hyaluronic Acid. After that, I get a drop of Revolution Targeted Under Eye Serum with Caffeine and Hyaluronic Acid and tap it under my eyes. Then I use Revolution Collagen Skin Firming Solution on my face. After that it's Revolution Niacinamide Blemish Refining and Moisturizing Serum. Then, I moisturize some more with CeraVe PM Ultra Moisturizing Lotion and finish off with a sample of Sunday Riley High Dose Rentinoid Serum. After that, I am finally ready to lay down for the evening and go to bed. Final thought, you probably don't need a complicated skin routine at night. and certainly, have a less complicated one on standby for those nights when you just can barely put one foot in front of the other. As my mom used to say....night, night, don't let the bed bugs bite. GARNIER - Micellar Water Facial Cleanser Sensitive Skin I love, love, love this stuff! it's gentle on my skin. It takes off the toughest mascara without irritating my eyes. I use it as a pre cleanser before washing my face. Cetaphil - Daily Facial Cleanser While I use this every night, I am only using it until I finish the bottle. I am not crazy about the scent and there is a slight sting on my cheeks when I first lather the product on my skin and I am not fond of that feeling. REVOLUTION - 2% Hyaluronic Acid Serum REVOLUTION - Targeted Under Eye Serum 5% Caffeine REVOLUTION - 15% Niacinamide Serum REVOLUTION - Skin Firming Solution Stabilised Active Collagen Serum I've enjoyed all of the products I purchased from Revolution, they will all be empties. I am going to try The Ordinary next but the price comparison is about the same. DIFFERIN - Dark Spot Correcting Serum I haven't noticed a bit of difference since using this. how long do you have to you this before you notice your spots lightening?SUNDAY RILEY - A+ High-Dose Retinol Serum

💙 Powerful but Gentle Retinol! 💙
Follow my skincare Instagram @skincare_by_reba for more content! 🥰 💙 Let’s talk 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐬! 💙⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ 𝗪𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭? This is SUNDAY RILEY - A+ High-Dose Retinol Serum! SR’s site describes it as an “advanced-strength retinoid serum that delivers a 6.5% solution of stabilized retinoid blends and botanical, retinol-alternative extracts into the skin.” See my IG post for the breakdown of the retinoid blend & other key ingredients! ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 𝐌𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: I know you’re all probably waiting for me to say I don’t love a SR product, but I’m sorry...𝘐 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘰 🥰 after using a Pixi retinol serum for a couple months and then switching to Luna (see my review in an earlier post!), I finally added this higher percentage of retinol to my routine in September. I think it was a HUGE contributor to the amazing results I saw in just over 2 weeks after switching to an almost entirely SR routine (scroll way back in my feed to see my before/after for that!). Every morning after I use this I wake up to super soft, even-toned skin. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If you’re new to a higher dose retinoid, try layering a hydrating oil first for a more gentle experience with A+. Start with two nights on, two nights off and build from there. Once your skin has adjusted, you can use A+ nightly (if desired), and I like to layer Luna on top for a bonus dose of retinol goodness! This serum, like all SR products, plays very well with others in the line. I layer A+, Luna, and Good Genes on many nights and have never had an issue! Of course, I have very tolerant skin so make sure you do what works best for 𝘺𝘰𝘶!⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞: The price is steep with this one, as it is with a lot of high-quality products. It’s $85/1oz or $122/1.7oz. I just finished up my 1oz bottle that I bought in mid-September, so it lasted me about 3.5 months with usage of 4-5 nights/week. I’ve cut back on that recently as I’m trying to rotate more products into my evening routine (like Vitamin C), and I used a solid 1.5-2 pumps with every use. If you just use 1 pump and less frequently, it’ll last you way longer! I just received my 1.7oz (just in time!) which I bought in the Power of Three kit — great savings that way on 3 serums I use all the time! ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘢𝘷𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘨𝘩-𝘥𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘰𝘭?

Update: my acne has reduced A LOT
I’ve been a bit MIA since my last post but here is the progress of my acne. If I were to pinpoint the main reasons why, then it’s these reasons: What I did wrong: - experimenting and using alot of different products. I was in a phase where I loved trying new products and my skin did not like that I was switching products all the time. - I did not spot test new products - overloaded my skin with many products. I don’t know who needs to hear this but a 10 step routine is NOT for acne prone skin. - drank little water each day - used harsh products without re-balancing my skin with soothing products - masked almost everyday What I did to improve it: - reduce the number of products going on my skin. I now use only a max of 3 products in the morning and 5 products at night. - drank 2 litres of water every day - used a soothing pH-balanced toner - used a GENTLE chemical exfoliant - used retinol regularly - masked only every 2-3 days Some products I use in my daily routine that really helped my skin: PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator as an all-over exfoliant PAULA'S CHOICE - BHA 9 Treatment as a spot treatment The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% to fade acne scars Products that I use every 2-3 days that helped my skin: AZCLEAR - Medicated Lotion (mixed with Niacinamide) to fade acne scars DRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni Retinol Cream to bring out new baby skin ANDALOU NATURALS - CannaCell Glow Mask as a gentle exfoliating mask If you are going through something similar just know to take it SLOWLY. The skin is going through trauma and it is not an overnight success. If you have any questions I’m happy to answer.

Face Picking Relapse & How I’m Moving Forward
So.. it happened. I relapsed and started picking my face again for the umpteenth time. I won’t lie, relapsing on a bad behavior like skin-picking sucks! I definitely beat myself up over it and even gave up entirely on stopping for a few weeks. That is, until I realized that feeling bad about myself and actively allowing myself to pick were absolutely never going to help me stop. The only way to stop is to be kind to myself and try again. Now, I’m choosing not to focus on my relapse or the fact that I was only able to stop for a few days. It’s happened many times before and it will surely happen again. After all, picking is a compulsion, and usually not a conscious choice. In addition to my other “stop picking” behaviors mentioned in my last post , here’s what I’ve been doing since my little revelation: Stopped keeping a tally of “days without picking”I realized I was way too hyper focused on the number of days I could go without picking and it was actually making me think about picking more. If I catch myself picking I stop and move on, I’m basically not making myself feel shame or guilt anymore. This has helped me significantly cut down on picking Started seeing a therapist. I’ve wanted to try therapy for years and finally gathered the courage to do it! My therapist has made it clear that this is a really tough thing to stop but she has been helping me identify why I pick which is something I had never given any thought to. This is helping me to try to find what helps me not pick and behaviors I can do when I feel that “urge”. Even if this doesn’t help me stop picking, it’s been so beneficial to my mental health already. Changed my thinking I’ve been reminding myself that picking is like hitting the “un-do” button on my routine that I’ve worked really hard to develope. My active acne is staying away and the urge to pick lessens significantly when I don’t have any scabs or spots to pick at. Some other things that have really been helping with my skin: DRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni Retinol Cream PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator Krave - Oat So Simple Water Cream Krave - Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream *HG🙌🏼 HERO COSMETICS - Rescue Balm -this stuff seems to heal spots I pick at in hours! I put it on immediately after picking and before bed. Seriously helps cut down on scabs to pick at. I’ve also started to eat more anti-inflammatory food (currently obsessing over blueberries). It may or may not be a placebo effect but I swear my skin has been way less inflamed! First picture is when I “gave up”and second picture is my skin today. I still have a ways to go but I feel like I’m finally making progress.

OTC Epiduo Dupe Part 1
**Disclaimer: This post is not meant in place of medical advice. It's best to consult a dermatologist about skin concerns when possible. This is another long one, y'all. I've broken it up into two posts to allow adequate explanation, but please, PLEASE, stick around to read part 2. Failure to properly use the products mentioned can result in skin injury!! WHAT IS IT? For those who don't know, Epiduo is a topical acne medication available by prescription only. It's two active ingredients however, are available over the counter. Epiduo consists of a combination of 0.3% adapalene and 2.5% benzoyl peroxide. While you won't find adapalene in that high of a concetraion over the counter, the lower concentration (0.1%) can be just as effective with less irritation. Benzoyl peroxide however, can be found in varying concentrations from 2.5% to 10% with the lower concentrations also being as effective as the higher. HOW DOES IT WORK? For the sake of brevity I'll just give you a brief rundown here. Adapalene adjusts the rate of skin cell turnover to regulate the process. In the case of acne, skin cell turnover is in overdrive. That means new skin cells are being produced while old skin cells are not being discarded properly. These old skin cells, along with sebum and bacteria, clog pores. The regulation of skin cell turnover prevents accumulation of all that gunk thereby keeping pores from being clogged. Adapalene is also renowned for it's anti-aging benefits, but that's another post 😉 Benzoyl peroxide (sometimes abbreviated BPO) penetrates the skin and is metabolized into benzoic acid and oxygen. The oxygen free radicals kill anaerobic bacteria. For a more in-depth look at BPO, see my last post! Together these ingredients prevent clogged pores and limit bacterial growth, addressing two of the main causes of acne. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN TO YOU? It means that your local drug store can supply you with everything you need to get started with an (almost) prescription strength acne treatment. Here are some adapalene products to consider: DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Adapalene Gel .01% Topical Retinoid Acne Treatment CVS Health Adapalene Gel ACNE FREE - Adapalene Gel USP 15G proactiv - Adapalene Gel 0.1% Acne Treatment And here are some BPO products: Neutrogena - On-the-Spot Acne Treatment Neutrogena - Rapid Clear Stubborn Acne Spot Gel ZAPZYT - Acne Treatment Gel LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Duo (+) *Stores like Walmart, Target, and several drug stores have their own brands of BPO spot treatments which are typically comparable to name brands at competitive prices. *Make sure to check the concentration of BPO. In this instance, the lower the better. Stay tuned to find out how to use this hack and to hear about my product picks explained.

My full current routine
My skin is very acne prone skin and has been as long as I can remember, yet I’ve never been able to find anything that really works, you know? Thus, I’ve decided to put my current routine out there in the hopes that someone, anyone might be able to offer some advice or tips to help. Morning: wash with the 3.5%Neutrogena - Rapid Clear Stubborn Acne Cream Cleanser(I’ve searched for a 10% formula but I guess it’s not carried in Canada) tone withpixi - Glow Tonicwith 5% glycolic. Sometimes I also use THAYERS - Lavender Facial Tonerbut not as often anymore mix 3 drops of lavido - Invigorating Facial Serumwith 3 drops of íUNIK - Tea Tree Relief Serumand a pump of vitamin C serum from a local brand called Truly Lifestyle Brand. I’m not sure it’s the best to mix my serums like that but hey. Also the vitamin C serum is a 17% concentration. moisturize with Cetaphil - DermaControl Oil Control Moisturizer SPF 30. I actually do feel as if this has helped my acne but I could just be imagining it; I used to believe that my old moisturizer broke me out before I switched to this one. Sometimes I feel dry since it’s oil absorbing I guess but it’s not frequent. lastly isOLE HENRIKSEN - Banana Bright Eye Crème; I don’t suffer from dark under eyes but I still like this one. Evening: wash with same neutrogena face wash tone with pixi toner I used to use the proactiv md 3 step routine and although I don’t use the cleanser and rarely use the sunscreen-moisturizer, I recently started using the proactiv - Adapalene Gel 0.1% Acne Treatmentagain use the same serums minus the vit c serum moisturize with the CAUDALIE - Vineactiv 3 in 1 Vitamin C Anti-Wrinkle Moisturizer. I’m not concerned about anti-aging, I was recommended this for helping with the skin barrier. Sometimes for nighttime I also mix this moisturizer with the LANEIGE - Cica Sleeping Maskor SUMMER FRIDAYS - Jet Lag Mask spot treat overnight with CLINIQUE - Acne Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel Weekly: one or twice a week, surprise surprise, I use The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution for my pores and to fade my dark spots. usually once a week, sometimes twice I use the AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Claywith acv a bit less frequently I use the alya skin. - Skin Pink Clay Mask, this one I feel is less effective than the Aztec clay mask but I still like it It might also be worth mentioning that I also have been taking 30mg of zinc which I heard helps with acne, and in the mornings I drink a mixture of acv, lemon juice, turmeric, and cayenne in hot water. I also used to juice celery but I don’t have a juicer right now so haven’t been doing that recently. I feel like that’s enough information but I love getting advice about skincare and talking about it so I’d be happy to give more info if anyone would like it😊😊

My Differin Journey (9 weeks in and STRUGGLING)
Hi all, Around the first week of December 2020 I decided to start trying Differin Adapalene Gel to address my skin concerns. As some of my previous posts explain, I’ve struggled badly with oily skin, blackheads, extremely enlarged pores, and occasional acne, most of my teenage years and into my adult life (I’m 26 now). I have tried SO many products to try and help curb my issues (see previous posts for examples), and though they’ve helped a little, I’ve never been fully satisfied with the results... my skin is just stubborn! I decided to swap my retinol for Differin to see if it would target my issues a little bit better and JEEZ has this been a journey so far... So to be completely blunt, I’m discouraged. If you look at the attached photo, the picture with all the acne is me NOW. Yes, RIGHT NOW. The one WITHOUT explosive acne is my BEFORE Differin skin. Okay, now I’ll get into it... So it’s been about 9 weeks since I’ve started on Differin. In the beginning I noticed my skin was starting to feel really sensitive, which it never is. Any other product (Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acid, etc.) felt like burning when I put it on, which is incredibly strange for me. My skin has been consistently pink ever since. I immediately stopped using any BHA, AHA or any harsh acid while using Differin and made sure to SLATHER on reparative moisturizer to help repair my skin barrier. Basically my skin routine needed to stripped to the bare minimum. Throughout the weeks, my skin flaked and peeled excessively, especially with makeup on. It looked SO dry and awful and felt stingy underneath (still does). Then about 3 weeks in, the purging started. It started off slow and erupted to where it’s at now on February 11, 2021. Purge pimples are so strange compared to my sporadic cystic acne bumps I’m used to getting. Purging shows up in a big breakout cluster of pimples, mostly small (not always), but definitely painful and brutal looking for me. Over the weeks it just got worse and worse. I’m getting pimples all in the same place for the most part — my lower cheek areas. It has been tumultuous and my skin has never looked this terrible in my whole life. I’ve done my research on Differin, and everyone says it is completely normal for your skin to get worse before it gets better (for me, A LOTTTTT worse). I’m hoping this is true because I really want to stick this out — I’ve already gone through the worst of it, might as well wait it out a bit longer. If you’re interested in Differin, just be prepared for what you’re getting into! I’m sure this will all be worth it but wanted to share my experience and help others with the SHOOKness that may or may not happen. I will definitely share updates in the future with hopefully better results! Anyone try Differin before? Was it this hard? Did your purging last this long? Words of encouragement? Thank you!! DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel

Before and Afters still in progress....
I truly don’t like doing before and afters especially when it looks like there’s barely any progress but I promise you my skin FEELS so much better than it looks and I’ve seen some amazing progress! I’ve tagged the products I feel have helped the most recently. It takes patience but little progress is still PROGRESS 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

La roche posay review
So the balm? Yes it is amazing, it is everything I always wanted in a skincare product. And it helps clear up my skin while moisturizing so double plus. No scent, and not too heavy or sticky. 5/5 The Adapalene gel. I’d give it a 4/5 because it’s not too harsh, I haven’t noticed any differences and I’ve been using it for 2 weeks. To be fair my acne hasn’t gotten worse but it hasn’t entirely gotten better. Doesn’t dry out my already dry skin too bad, I just don’t know if it’s working

Ulta & Marshall’s Hair & Skin Haul
What’s up my bargain basement bitches? Due to my recent unprecedented BREAKOUT on my damn chin/cheek/mustache area I decided it was time to use my Adult Money ™️ to purchase some new skin ~clearing~ items. Being that I work for the government, I am absolutely the furthest from raking in that dough, so bargains are v appealing to me. I’m an Ulta shopper, not sorry. I don’t give a dern about makeup and I find that Ulta has that good good, cruelty free, clean, & affordable skin care. Also fuck that elitist Sephora energy, my local Ulta has a salon in the back that I can only imagine is the equivalent of a set of Super Cuts side bangs. Featured in this haul: Ulta TULA SKINCARE - Keep It Clear Acne Foam Cleanser($34) TULA SKINCARE - The Cult Classic Purifying Face Cleanser (free sample) LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Adapalene Gel .01% Topical Retinoid Acne Treatment($30) COSRX - Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Power Essence on sale 50% off! ($12) Marshall’s Random ass Facial Steamer ($16) “ABSOLUTEHEAT” Pro Iron Series curling wand ($20) Golden Castor Oil with eyebrow/lash brushes ($7) AQUIS - Hair Towel Waffle Luxe Moody Gray($10) I have been using FIRST AID BEAUTY - FAB Skin Lab Retinol Serumand FIRST AID BEAUTY - FAB Skin Lab Retinol Eye Cream with Triple Hyaluronic Acid which are wonderful, especially the eye cream which completely blasted the dry patch near the corner of my eye that was there for MONTHS but I felt like tapering up a bit after introducing retinol for the first time about a month and a half ago. It is also likely that the breakout on my chin/cheeks is due to the retinol serum (I currently use 2-3x wk and don’t use any actives with it except for Mad Hippie - Triple C Night Creamwhich I’m prettty sure clogs the shit out of my pores but w/e). I will post a skin check-in tomorrow & eventually review these products after I work them into my routine. So far, so good! I will say the Tula SA cleanser had a super strong tea tree fragrance which isn’t a dealbreaker for me so much as a indicator of some powerful shit. Fingers crossed this gets the pesky comedones on my chin/upper lip to dissolve 🤓. In the meantime, comment below with your favorite sheet masks to use with the face steamer! I got it for my bf mostly, as well as an extraction toolkit because he likes to take things into his own hands with his skin and I respect that- so I got him some tools that can be sterilized & keep him from poking holes his face with my stolen embroidery needles.

Hello & Any Advice? 🤍
Hi Y’all 🤍 This is my first post and I’ve been waiting to do this for awhile... ⭐️ I’m Maeve-Darly and I have Oily, Acne-Prone Skin. My main concerns are dark spots, hyperpigmentation, oil control, and pore size. ⭐️Currently, my morning routine consists of the products listed on the second page. I have bought a ton of products from the ordinary and had to make the choice to limit my products and keep my routine simple. I’m looking for a good toner if anyone has any recommendations and a good Vitamin C serum/product to add to my morning routine, as well! ⭐️Also, my night routine consists of the products listed on the third page. Again, I’m looking for a toner to add to my routine. Something that can brighten but I’m not really interested in a AHA/BHA exfoliating toner as I’ve heard that paired with Niacinamide on darker complexions it can have the reverse effect of brightening and clearing up hyper pigmentation. I’ve been using the mask from the Ordinary once a week on Fridays and it leaves my skin soft. ⭐️ I didn’t include this but I also occasionally use the innisfree - Super Volcanic Clusters Pore Clearing Clay Mask in the mornings or nights when I feel I need it. It definitely does give my skin an open and clear feelings sometimes in my morning use but I don’t know if it’s really doing something or if my expectations are just too high. ⭐️If anyone has any suggestions for a good brightening and non-drying toner and/or a Vitamin C serum, please let me know in the comments? Also, do other oily acne-prone folks have any thoughts on the CeraVe products mentioned? I’d love to hear y’all’s thoughts! Thank you so much 🤍

Dermalogica & Paulas Choice - Is it OffThaChain?
I’ve noticed a HUGE following for PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid ExfoliatorI see why from what the reviews say and the ingredients; Certified Cruelty-Free, Gluten-Free, Sulfate-Free, Paraben-Free, Vegan, Oil-Free, Fragrance-Free. I’ve been looking for an effective toner. I’ve posted before about Skinceauticals Conditioning Toner that I currently use but it’s not giving me the results that I want. It’s a great product but I’m looking for more in a toner, which is why I purchased this. I heard about this from a very knowledgeable woman, Cassandra Bankson, and lemme tell you, she knows her shit... She has mentioned nothing bad about this product, not even the slightest. She deals with almost everything I’ve dealt with when it comes to the face. She talks a lot about this product on her YouTube Channel if you’d like to know more. But I can’t wait to use this, and I can’t wait to post about it. You’ll hear from me again about this product, no doubt.👌🏼 I’ve been looking into a Retinol as well, which Cassandra Bankson has also mentioned on her YouTube channel dermalogica - Retinol Acne Clearing OilIt seems to be everything I’m looking for in a retinol - Jojoba, Salicylic acid, Argan & Rosehip seed oils, Pro-Retinol (Retinyl Propionate paired with a booster) I also love that it is Paraben, Sulfate & Syntheic Fragrance free, Aaand Cruelty-Free, vegan; recyclable packaging. Right now I’m currently using The Ordinary Retinol 0.5% in Squalane. It seems to be working really well for me, a slight positive difference in my texture & helped minor fine lines with no purging. Again, I’m looking for more effective/natural ingredients in retinol (& ingredients), which I know work really well for my skin. Recently I’ve changed my diet up (vegan ish), skincare routine (which I’ll post when I have it all assembled), and drinking a shit load of water, which seems to be very beneficial to my skin and all around body. ✨I’m super siked about these two products, and I really can’t wait to let y’all know how it works for me! Please ask away whatever questions you’re curious about! ✌🏼♥️🌻

DO THIS before popping pimples!
We have all fallen victim to sitting in front of our magnified mirror for an hour, pinching and pressing at our skin trying to clear up all the zits. Once we are done, we discover our face is red, splotchy and usually looking way worse than before! WHY you shouldn't pop your pimples at home- 1) It can cause infection! 🚫 Infection can occur for a few reasons. Either your hands are not completely clean when you start touching it, or you pop the pimple but don't completely rid it of pus. If there is still bacteria under the surface, it can spread and cause a cystic bump or nodule! 2) It causes irritation most likely you are not controlling the angle and pressure of your hands when squeezing a pimple. This can damage the skin and cause irriation and redness that may take a while to heal! And finally... 3) Can cause permanent damage I know it is hard to believe that this can happen, but as a licensed esthetician I am alwaus reminding folks of the damage they can cause at home. The skin must heal properly after a pimple is extracted, otherwise it can leave behind a scar or hyperpigmentation. Without using the proper technique, this can happen much easier than you think! The damage leaves you with an even more difficult skin condition to cure than just a pesky pimple. ☆What to use instead of your hands or dangerous extractor tools: MARIO BADESCU - Mario Badescu Drying Lotion I love how affordable this spot treatment is! This works perfectly on those pimples that look like they're about to pop. It absorbs the bacteria and allows the pimple to heal without harsh techniques. HERO COSMETICS - Mighty Patch Original and Invisible+ Bundle The mighty patch products are also great as an overnight pimple treatment. It absorbs the infection and stays on just the spot you need healing. I like this option even more for larger pimples that can spread bacteria on surrounding skin easily! HOW TO USE EITHER OF THESE SPOT TREATMENTS: -properly cleanse the face and apply night time products, avoiding pimples that will be covered in spot treatment. Do not shake, and use a cotton swap to apply the drying lotion only on pimple. The patches are simply stuck to skin right over the affected area. Cleanse off or remove the next morning and reapply as needed the following night! FYI: This won't work as well on closed comedones like whiteheads, so choose a physical exfoliant in your routine instead. 🌿🌿 Some options for closed bumps and deeper acne breakouts: Krave - Kale-Lalu-yAHA The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Solution dermalogica - Retinol Acne Clearing Oil If you can, seek out a professional to perform extractions on the skin. They are trained in keeping your skin clean and cause as little damage as possible. Many facials include extractions as a part of the process. ☆What do you use on your pimples?

Retinol Does Cure Your Skin! My FAVORITE Retinol Product!👍
After the age of 25, your skin starts to deteriorate, leaving you unprepared for the loss of collagen, facial, vaginal, and cervical lines. I've been using anti-aging products since I was 20 years old to make my skin look younger. But as soon as I developed my first dry lines beside my eye area, I started researching the various anti-aging ingredients on the market. There are many anti-aging ingredients, such as retinol, peptides, and the famous one, pro-xylene. Although wrinkles are an irreversible derivative, it is important to take timely precautions. Sometimes just come out dry line, also can desalinate through effective protect skin means to eliminate even. After reading about Retinol's ability to detect dry lines around the eye, I bought Murad's Retinol Youth Renewal Serum, Murad - Retinol Youth Renewal Serumwhich is well known for its Retinol anti-aging ingredient. Retinol, also known as alcohol, can accelerate cell metabolism, let the aging cuticle off, to achieve the effect of smooth skin, no matter it is to fade fine lines or shrink pores, both having a certain effect. However, for dry and sensitive skin, retinol is not very friendly, retinol will be converted into vitamin A acid after the approval of the skin, it is more irritating to the skin, initially, there will be some tingling, intolerant skin will also appear peeling, red symptoms. The essence of this Murad has a core ingredient -- triple power retinol technology, which allows retinol to do its job while being gentler and minimizing irritation. Its texture has no fluidity and is very light and easy to absorb. It is the most comfortable to use in this season, without the greasy feeling. If it's a little colder, you can use it with a more moisturized cream. It is an anti-aging essence suitable for use all year round.

My PM Night Routine 👌
I do tend to switch up serums and moisturizers depending on if I exfoliated that day, or did a chemical peel, or if my skin is feeling dry. But this is the main routine I stick to. Murad is my fav brand. ELEMIS - Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm - This is a great cleansing balm I received in my BeautyFix Box. It Deep cleans and dissolves makeup, including my waterproof mascara and has anti aging benefits. It contains Chamomile, Rosehip oil, Lactic acid and other Essential oils. EMMA HARDIE - Moringa Light Cleansing Gel - Another product I got from a BeautyFix box, this is more of a gel like oil cleanser instead of a balm which I like. It also removes my mascara and is packed with skin loving essential oils dr. brandt - Clean Biotic - This is a PH balanced yogurt cleanser with chlorophyll. Chlorophyll stimulates anti aging enzymes and encourages nourished youthful skin, it also repairs sun damage and fights free radicals. It’s a creamy texture that doesn’t foam up which I love. Has antioxidants like Green tea, white tea and Grapeseed extract. It’s very soothing. exuviance - Anti-Pollution Protection Essence - This Essence targets the skins microbiome to help re-balance and strengthen the skins moisture barrier. Also has ingredients and antioxidants to neutralize the visible aging effects due to stressors like pollution. It’s very light almost like water, I take about 5 drops and press it into my skin. Murad - Essential-C Toner - Refreshing mist with antioxidants that brightens the skin and replenishes moisture. I do use this before my Essence. Has a very citrusy smell and comes in a spray bottle which I like opposed to pouring out the toner. Murad - Retinol Youth Renewal Serum - Fast acting retinol serum that minimizes fine lines, firms, evens skin tone, and boots radiance. It has a technology that releases a fast acting retinol, a time released retinol and a retinol booster. It also has hydrating ingredients like Hyaluronic acid to minimize dryness. Murad - Renewing Eye Cream - A nourishing eye cream that firms and brightens and targets signs of aging. It has Peptides and Retinol to increase elasticity and a brightening complex for dark circles. Love how thick this eye cream is, I’ve seen a difference in my dark circles, and fine lines. Murad - Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture - Cream with advanced hyaluronic acid technology provides 24 hour hydration, restores suppleness and reduces fine lines. Coconut extract helps provide enhanced moisture retention. I love thick extra hydrating night creams and nothing compares to this. Murad - Night Fix Enzyme Treatment - Accelerates nighttime skin repair, and visibly minimizes fine lines. Skin loses water 3x faster at night, works with the body’s circadian rhythm. Def a great extra step.

OMG!🌟Best couple for acne
OMG!🌟Best couple for acne
These two are the best couple of products for my acne-prone skin! I have been fighting acne since I was 16 and nothing has been able to clear my face totally. Until last month my dermatologist recommended SkinCeuticals serum and Differin Gel to me. After using them a few days a week for one month, it is very helpful for helping reduce breakouts and calm redness-prone skin. These two products really had made a difference and also seem to have clarifying qualities to it. Phyto Corrective Gel is a hydrating, soothing gel serum with botanical ingredients ideal for calming and hydrating skin. The key ingredient contains hyaluronic acid, cucumber, thyme, which help to soothe and calm skin. I think it does exactly what it claims. It calms the skin, reduces redness, is moisturizing and calming. I have been using it for more than a month, consistent night and day use is the key and not putting too much on because a little goes a long way. Best discoloration product ever! Differin Adapalene Gel, this is a great acne treatment. Prescription-strength retinoid provides the fastest results—you'll start to see changes in about a month. So it took only a fast 3~4 weeks until my skin was completely cleared, and I've never been more confident in my skin ever! I like that it absorbs easily when applied and does not irritate my skin. Since using the product regularly, I have seen a significant difference in my acne breakouts, and my skin is more even-toned. It is also smoother & softer.

Niacinamide For Acne, Dark Marks and More!
Niacinamide For Acne, Dark Marks and More!
Hailed as the new "it" and “holy grail” ingredient in skincare, niacinamide is an active form of Vitamin B3.  It's available in many skin care products and one of the best you can add to your skincare routine! Not all formulas and concentrations are the same or function the same ways. So here are the top products I’ve tried and all about how niacinamide works: PAULA'S CHOICE - Niacinamide 20% Treatment ✨Improves chronic bumpy skin/orange-peel texture ✨Reduces appearance of sagging stretched pores ✨Brightens blotchy tone, fades post-acne marks ✨Fights advanced signs of aging  PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster ✨Reduces rough texture ✨Minimizes appearance of large pores ✨Brightens a dull complexion  ✨Fights fine lines and early signs of aging  SKINCEUTICALS - Discoloration Defense Skin Discoloration Serum ✨Lightens and improves appearance of dark spots ✨Brightens skin tone and texture  The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% ✨Reduces acne and dark spot appearance ✨Reduces pore congestion ✨Balances oil production in skin PETER THOMAS ROTH - Pro Strength Niacinamide Discoloration Treatment ✨Fades discoloration and post-acne marks ✨Brightens and repairs uneven skin tone  SATURDAY SKIN - Bright Potion Probiotic Power Serum ✨Improves skin barrier protection, hydration and tone ✨Nourishes skin and promotes luminous appearance   #Apostrophe - Azelaic Acid 15% + Niacinamide 4% Formula[products]#[FiveStars] ✨Smooths fine lines and wrinkles  ✨Improves skin barrier protection and moisture  ✨Brightens skin and fades dark marks  PEACE OUT - Microneedling Dark Spot Brightening Dots ✨Micro-needle patches for faster results  ✨Lightens appearance of dark spots ✨Dark patches become clear and even How niacinamide works: ✨Skin friendly - every skin type can use it ✅Best for acne-prone skin, oily skin, dry skin, combination skin, sensitive skin 🧪Works by inhibiting oil production skin which is beneficial for acne-prone and oily skin types. As a cream or serum, it’s non-irritating and very tolerable compared to other skin treatments. This makes it favorable for people with dry or sensitive skin. ✨Anti-inflammatory - skin calming  ✅Best for - treating inflammatory acne, acne rosacea, skin redness 🧪Works to inhibit inflammatory pathway elements within the body. This  subsequently prevents migration of products involved in inflammation to the skin! As a result, skin becomes less inflamed and irritated.  ✨Brightening - a miracle dark mark corrector ✅Best for - dark marks, post-acne hyperpigmentation, dull complexion 🧪Works to inhibit the transfer of skin's light absorbing pigment, melanin, into the outer layers of the skin. This leads to an overall faded appearance of spots. ✨Anti- Aging - treatment and prevention ✅Best for fine lines, sallow skin, wrinkles  🧪Works by supplementing antioxidants that fight against skin’s free radicals associated with aging and photoaging (skin aging due to sun/UV exposure.)  🧪Works by preventing deposits of cellular components in skin cells that make skin stiff and rigid during photoaging. The appearance of creases and wrinkles become reduced. ✨Completion correcting - smoother texture and complexion  ✅Best for uneven skin texture and tone  🧪Works by supplementing an antioxidant that promotes healthy skin cell growth. Skin becomes renewed and vibrant.  🧪Works by increasing the production of ceramides which maintain skin’s barrier. Skin looks moisturized and softer. Overall, niacinamide is a safe, versatile product and fabulous addition to a daily skincare regimen.

TOP 3 FOR ACNE PRONE SKIN
TOP 3 FOR ACNE PRONE SKIN
1. BLUME - Meltdown Oil for Acne-Prone Skin wow. Wow. Wow. She’s great. I use this product as a spot treatment directly on active spots. Also on budding cystic acne she breaks it down pretty quickly (1-3days it’s GONE). I’ve seen others mix in with moisturizer - my skin needs to soak this product in separately in order to actually gain the benefits of a moisturizer afterwards. I use this twice ++++ daily and I have NOT burned/over dried. Highly suggest if you have acne prone skin/combo/mild cystic acne like myself. The scent/colour is purely a result of the natural oils inside* 2. The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% THE BEST VIT C serum I have tried. I mix this in with a moisturizer in the morning/evening and damn what a glow getter. I’m on my second lil bottle and will continue to repurchase as not only the price point (which is a bargain at $10) but the very real benefits are astounding. Again, doesn’t dry me out. Helps immensely with uneven skin tone, REDNESS, dark spots/lifting acne scars. You will see results over time, remember exfoliating serums/products take weeks!! Just a few drops will do!! 3. The Ordinary - Retinol 0.2% in Squalane This was my first time introducing a retinol to my regime (hence the very low %, if you’re beginning I suggest this). A game changer. As I’ve reached a point with my acne where I feel it’s relatively under control (knock on wood) I felt I could begin a retinol and not fear the wrath of burnt broken skin. I have deep set wrinkles on my forehead/crows feet (thank u astigmatism) and use this product 1-2 times a week exclusively at NIGHT depending on how my acne is doing. My face does have a slight warmth to it directly after use but I promise it is not a slow burning of your skin. It is simply the retinol doing its job and driving blood to the surface for collagen production/cell turnover. This is another product where results take weeks to become visible but like anything skincare related, it takes its sweet time. These are my HOLY GRAIL products. My skin simply cannot survive without them. I hope some of the info was helpful/informative!!!

Get Rid Of The Facial Scars
Get Rid Of The Facial Scars
Let me just start this post out by saying that I wished I had the information and know how about healthy skincare back when I was a teenager. Over 20+ years ago, I had horrible horrible facial acne... and yes, I picked and picked at my skin. Now in my adulthood, I still deal with acne and also scarring from my teenage years. I slowly started seeing improvements in my acne flare ups but the scars on my face were just NOT going away. Here’s to today’s post.... I have been using Peter Thomas Roth products for a while now and have always had great results. Their newest Niacinamide Discoloration Treatment has been really helping with my scarring. I haven’t used it THAT long... just a few weeks or so. But I can see the difference in the discoloration around my chin and forehead area (where I have the most scarring). This product DOES has a higher potency but it really has worked well with my sensitive skin. I have seen a real improvement in my red spots and I really feel like it’s helped my acne flare ups as well. I cannot wait for the day when I don’t have to cake on the concealer to hide my scars!! 💕 PETER THOMAS ROTH - Pro Strength Niacinamide Discoloration Treatment

Skincare Story: Acne to Eczema to Glow-Up
Skincare Story: Acne to Eczema to Glow-Up
When I started my skincare journey, I had the oiliest skin imaginable and dealt with constant hormonal breakouts. I tried every brand Sephora had to offer- each one filled with more fragrance, essential oils, and/or alcohol than the last. My skin quickly became overwhelmed and I broke out into terrible atopic dermatitis which would become chronic. And bam! I had eczema. It was... a struggle, to say the least. I went from oily to combination, with flare-ups that got me so dry I’d flake. Unpleasant. But I learned. I switched to fragrance-, essential oil-, alcohol-free skincare. Cleansers with gentle surfactants. Less exfoliation and more nourishing ingredients. Added hydrating products to reduce the dehydration that caused my oily skin and keep my now-combo skin happy. I gave my skin at least 2-4 no-actives rest days every week. My skin slowly recuperated. Now my hyperpigmentation is fading and my eczema flare-ups are less common. I still get breakouts, but they’re less painful and less long-lived. A few products (such as PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster and The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% ) are amazing for their role in reducing my hyperpigmentation, but I can’t emphasize enough how my acne and eczema flare-ups wouldn’t have improved if I hadn’t eliminated my triggers by switching brands. I stopped using fragranced brands like Origins, Fresh, Herbivore, Dr Jart, Tatcha, and Summer Fridays, and switched to biocompatible brands like Drunk Elephant, The Ordinary, The Inkey List, and Paula’s Choice. By taking out all possible irritants, my skin found peace. My acne reduced in frequency + intensity and I nowadays a combo of PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster and PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator keeps them short-lived. Skin rest days are still important but I can’t emphasize enough that your skin is an organ and everyone should be treating it as such 🙌🏽
