My Acne Journey (Long Story)

Pixelle
Hi there! My name is Chelle, and like I’m sure many of you have dealt with, I have been in a battle with acne since I was a teenager. It’s been the bane of my existence and a constant thwart to my self-confidence. About 4 years ago, I started using Curology - Curology formula
which, at first, worked absolute wonders! They prescribed to me a formula with azelaic acid, and for about 3 years, I felt like I had conquered and controlled my acne issues. Of course, I still had the scars and enlarged pores, but no new breakouts or cysts. I was incredibly satisfied and for once in my life, I had gained some the self-confidence that I never had growing up. I even enjoyed not having to wear as much makeup. However, a couple months before my wedding last year, I started noticing some acne beginning to consistently form in my chin area. I at first attributed to pre-wedding stress (which honestly didn’t make much sense because I actually didn’t do all my wedding planning). But even after the wedding, the breakouts continued to worsen. I reached out to Curology and they switched my prescription to the more aggressive tretinoin. It helped to control it somewhat, but unlike before, new breakouts would surface every week. So with that being said, I’m going back to square one with my acne journey. I’ll using Cherie as a journal to document my successes and failures as I try to, again, get the zits under control. I happily welcome recommendations and feedback! I am by no means a skin or beauty expert, but my hope is that my journey will somewhat encourage another individual that they’re not alone in this battle! Here are the list of products that I am currently using. I’ll do reviews of them as I go! AM Routine:

hannahissadRooting for you and your skincare journey! I’m by no means an esthetician, but do you have any experience with retinoids? I hear it can do wonders for acne and scarring. I would also recommend introducing oils like rosehip as it could help balance out your sebum.

PixelleThanks for the support! I’ve haven’t had any experience with retinoids, but I’m willing to try them sometime down the road! Do you have any product recommendations?

Products that helped my acne
I’ve struggled with acne since 7th grade (I’m 20 now). I have used a lot of products and there are a handful I want to share that have really helped me get closer to my clear skin goal. PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator this is by far the best product I’ve ever used. My skin looks smoother and my acne has subsided tremendously. I can’t get enough of this. (I use it twice a week, working up to three). I really do believe this product is essential for clearer skin! CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin this moisturizer has been my go to for about 5 years. It always keeps my skin hydrated and really helped when I was on acne prescriptions because my skin would always get really dry. Curology - Curology formula I have a whole post dedicated to this, but it really did help me a lot. I like having dermatologist prescriptions over other treatments. So, this was a great option for me and worked wonders! CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skin I used to use the harshest face washed out there and strip my skin completely. This cleanser really helped me repair my moisture barrier and was gentle. My skin started looking really good after about 12 uses of this. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% this stuff is a miracle in a bottle!! My face is way less sensitive and my oils are under control. The redness from my acne subsides with the help of this product and I find it to help my acne heal and become smaller faster. Kate Somerville - EradiKate Acne Treatment this treatment really helped me when I had minimal breakouts. This dried out my pimples over night and helped them go away faster. This was a really nice treatment and I plan on using it again when my face is clearer and I no longer feel the need to continue curology!!

How I Cleared My Acne in 3 MONTHS!!!
I‘ve struggled with cystic hormonal acne for years, but when I was diagnosed with breast cancer this summer, I didn’t imagine I’d experience the worst breakout of my 27 years of life... I was so overwhelmed and stressed, that I honestly forgot all about my skincare until it looked like this! And just like breast cancer, cystic acne hurts physically and mentally, but I had to regain control. I couldn’t control what was happening to me, but I could refocus, change my perspective, and restart my skincare routine 😅 Then I was gifted this medically personalized product to try and this is was my three month progress! 👏🏼✨ It’s different for everyone, but I noticed a difference in my skin after 4 weeks of consistent use. I’d say, it’s definitely worth a try, so I’ll leave a link to a 1-month trial for $4.95! http://curolo.gy/RebeccaSantos (No, I don’t get commission or any form of payment for this post or if you use my link.) LAIKOU Face Mask: Sleep Your Way to Better Skin
Hey Beauty’s 🙋🏽‍♀️ My product review today is on LAIKOU Sakura sleeping face masks. I recently purchased the LAIKOU Sleeping Face Mask for my store and wanted to trial the product myself. 😄 LAIKOU say Sakura extract or cherry blossoms 🌸 are rich in antioxidants and helps cleanse the body of impurities and pollutants that damage the skin. Its store of essential fatty acids fortifies the skin's natural barriers, making it smooth and supple. It also promotes a firm, mature complexion, regenerating the skin from the inside out. The LAIKOU Sleeping Face Mask also has hyaluronic acid to draw moisture to the top layer of your skin and seaweed essence, the antioxidants in seaweed can help prevent free radical damage to the skin and protect against skin aging. Seaweed essence can moisturise and calm skin. It is also good at combating acne. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 How to apply After a basic skincare routine apply an appropriate amount evenly over the entire face. Wash off in the morning. How I applied? I double cleansed and applied the mask as I wanted to see it’s results. With sleeping masks you can do a full night routine to lock in all the goodness or use it by itself. 😁 My thoughts 💭 🧚‍♀️ The texture is a gel texture and it’s really smooth when applying. It feels lighter than my one of my usual moisturisers the Neutrogena - Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel Moisturizer 🧚‍♀️ My skin felt amazingly refreshed when i applied the Mask 🧚‍♀️ It has a slight floral fragrance but I was pleasantly surprised it didn’t have an added fragrance, it’s from the flower 🌸 extracts 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 🧚‍♀️ It absorbed well, I applied it an hour before bed and when I woke up my skin looked brighter, hydrated and moisturised. ☺️ I’ve been doing my day routine more than my night routine (I alternate routines) and honestly my skin needed some TLC. This worked wonders. I was so impressed I’m giving away a LAIKOU skincare pack to 3 lucky beauty’s in February. More details next week. 😉 You can also purchase the sleeping face masks on Amazon, Shoppee or eBay. I’m going to start incorporating sleep masks in my routine so look out for more reviews. I had a happy skincare moment when I realised if I do my day routine I can cleanse and throw on a sleep mask in the evening for that extra bit of TLC. 😄 What’s your thoughts? Have you used Sakura in your products. I’d love to hear from you? Have a wonderful day Jade ☺️

5 Ways Snow Damages Your Skin
Hey Beauty’s 🙋🏽‍♀️ I realised it may be summer here in Australia but it’s cold 🥶 in the Northern Hemisphere and the issues of winter can be extremely bad for your skin. Some issues include: 🧚‍♀️ Transdermal Water loss Transepidermal water loss or TEWL refers to the skin's deprivation of water due to arid winter conditions. The drier the skin is genetically, or if you have a skin disorder, the more dramatic the symptoms. For especially dry areas, smooth on a petroleum based ointment like LUCAS' PAPAW REMEDIES - Lucas' Papaw Ointment Lip Balm it’s my go to lip balm 💋 🧚‍♀️ Icy Wind A major contributor to TEWL is the icy wind. The icy gales can aggravate skin and pull any moisture from your skin. I like to hydrate well in Winter ❄️ I noticed having just come out of the colder months here in Oz, I was using two moisturisers a day in Winter. Neutrogena - Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel Moisturizer and Auqest 5 Second Wrinkle Cream. I’ve trimmed down my day routine and currently use CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream☺️ 🧚‍♀️ Sun Exposure on an Icy Day The sun doesn't necessarily stop shining simply because snow is falling. Never skip sunscreen, snow reflects up to 80% of UV light so your hit twice by the same rays. 😱 I use BANANA BOAT - Ultra Sport Sunscreen lotion broad spectrum, SPF 50 I’ve been looking for a new product but I’ll use what I have before trialling a few recommendations from other beauty’s. The higher your SPF the better. 🤗 🧚‍♀️Extreme temperature shifts Very cold weather and icy wind gusts combined with lack of humidity, forced heat, hot baths and going outside for any length of time can accumulate to TEWL. Skin doesn't respond well to extreme temperatures, especially when exposed to both heat and cold in a short period of time. During winter make sure you wash with tepid or lukewarm water and use a cleanser designed for sensitive skin. I have mature combination skin and use acwell - Licorice pH Balancing Cleansing Toner Exposing your skin to hot water can aggravate cold skin. 🧚‍♀️Lack of humidity The base level of humidity is a significant factor in maintaining hydrated skin. The drop in humidity in winter and the over heating of rooms can seriously dry out your skin. I’d suggest getting a humidifier in winter and why not drop a few drops of your favourite essential oil. 😉 Also hydrate well and ensure your products have ingredients like ceramides and emollients that keep skin from losing its moisture on cold dry days. 😁 I’ve realised writing this post that I’ve stripped down my skincare routine significantly as it’s gotten warmer. But I’m lucky that my fundamental products can be used during both seasons. What products do you use through the winter and summer months. Drop a comment below. 😉 Have a wonderful evening! Acne Clearing Magic
Acne Clearing Magic
I used to think all Salicylic Acid treatments were the same, but they are not! Other treatments would dry out my skin and still leave the pimple, the Clinique Acne Clearing Gel is another story. This gel comes in a small bottle, but a little goes a long way. It’s a liquid-y gel and it will tingle a little upon application. It dries quickly and goes to work quickly. At night I’ll dab some on my break outs and wake up in the morning with either my zits gone or significantly reduced. 5 stars. CLINIQUE - Acne Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel

CUROLOGY TO THE RESCUE !!!
CUROLOGY TO THE RESCUE !!!
So my bff had really bad acne. Hormonal/oily combo + cystic. The worst.... 😭😭 I noticed in February her skin was looking really clear and I asked her what she was using/doing differently. She told me she uses the Curology 3 step system. I was not too thrilled when I heard 3 step system because I had tried other brands like that and it hasn’t worked out for my acne. But I gave it a shot. I signed up for there $5 “trial box” and took really in depth pictures of my acne for the dermatologists down at Curology to concoct me my very own serum to pair with their cleanser + moisturizer. After about 3 days I noticed my skin was clearer. So I was hooked and sad after the trial was over. For about $50 every 2 months they send you your 3 FULL SIZE PRODUCTS! That’s a pretty good deal knowing I’m getting customized skincare to my door ;) also I am from San Diego and this is a San Diego based company !!!! CUROLOGY IS DEF MAKING MY HOMETOWN PROUD 🙏🏻🤩💚 I would try this out if your loosing hope and have tried EVERYTHING. I incorporate the cleanser + moisturizer + acne serum with my toners, serums & face essences and they pair all beautifully! I will be uploading a video for my DAYTIME ROUTINE showing you my steps with Curology soon!! ❤️💕❤️💕

My Skincare Routine
My Skincare Routine
I have Oily skin type with acne. My skin is also very sensitive. I love this skincare routine so much. It has helped control my acne. I don’t have clear skin but it really really helped control my acne. Before I would get breakouts every two days. Now i get breakouts every ten days. I use a spot treatment for two days then the pimple shrank. If you have oily, acne, and sensitive skin consider trying these products out. For the Cleanser i gave it 5/5. For the toner (it’s almost out) I gave it 5/5. For the Exfoliater i gave it 4/5 because it can make my skin very dry if i use it more than once a week. For the spot treatment i gave it 4/5 but i would give it 4.5/5 because it burns the pimple (i know it’s supposed to do that) but for my sensitive skin it burns more. It’s still bearable though. For the moisturizer i give it 5/5. In all most of the products are 4.5/5

🏆Never lose your fight with acnes
🏆Never lose your fight with acnes
Hey sisters🥰!!! If everything gets shutdown during COVID-19, one of the few things that should never be affected is your addiction to skin care. My life-long enemy acne never knows how to self-quarantine and spare a little stability to my skin. I mean...who's undefeatable in front of the brutal acnes🤭? But you're lucky enough - in our incredibly loving Cherie community, your skin problem is never a problem because of our super helpful beauty experts🤩!!! @Paola29suffered from acnes because of hormonal imbalances. Weeks ago, they made a post on Cherie and asked for skincare advice. Believe it or not, within a week, they got so many useful tips on acne treatment - read the golden advice below word by word! @mira.nichole "I love using products like The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Masque and any of the Sweet Chef Serum Shots to help my skin out. I definitely recommend seeing a dermatologist though if you haven’t already, since I also use a prescription cream called Aczone (Dapsone) which I found has helped out a ton." @skincarebytate "I would recommend using the CeraVe foaming cleanser and daily moisturizer. The CeraVe foaming cleanser works wonders for oily skin. Also you have to moisturize! I would also recommend steering clear of essential oils as they can cause irritation. The ordinary is great though! so keep using their products! Also don’t forget to exfoliate. I would reccomend chemical exfoliants rather than scrubs :)💗 " @al0na.c "The holy grail acne treatment that ended up working for me (finally @ 26 years old!) was the Roche-Posay Effaclar 3 step acne system, but especially the Effaclar Duo Cream. It really works very fast at clearing up breakouts and soothes the redness of the pimples." @Paola29, hope now you have a better idea of removing acnes - please keep us updated 💗! Girls, if you have other advice, don't hesitate to leave your comments below <3

Curology Review
Curology Review
Curology - The Cleanser It’s not clear if this product is for oily or dry skin. It seems to be for dry skin and I have oily skin. It seems to be a bit thicker than the Cerave Hydrading Cleanser. I have fungal acne and I ran this product through Sezia and it has products that wont help my fungal acne. Curology - Curology formulaIt’s too early to tell if my personal formula is working. My formula is Niacinamide 4%, Clindamycin 1%, and Zinc Pyrithione .25%. I have used Zinc Pyrithione before at 1% so I don’t know if this will help. Curology - The Moisturizer This moisturizer is very light weight which is good for my oil skin, but has ingredients that are bad for fungal acne. The acne body wash has Tea Tree Oil and I’m not sure how to feel about it. Since it’s a wash off treatment and meant for the body the fragrance isn’t too bad but I don’t like the smell. Overall: I wouldn’t recommend the moisture for oily skin. I’ll wait and see if I see any results before looking at my personal formula.

Hi this is my first post here.
Hi this is my first post here. And I just want to show you guys my journey. The 1st-3rd pics were the days my face looked really bad. Because I had so many acnes everywhere. I got really sad and my self esteem was really low. I didn’t wanna go out anymore. Because I was embarrassed. The 4th picture was when I had makeup on. As you could see the makeup didn’t help at all. Btw I used the clinique 123 acne set and I tried proactive too. But my acnes got worst. My boyfriend’s sister told me to try beauche set out. She said it really helped her with her acnes. And I did tried it. And finally I’ve seen the difference when days go by. My acnes were vanishing little by little. Until it was really gone. The 5th pic is when my face was finally acne free. The last pic is when I put makeup on. You could see the differences from my 4th pic with makeup on. Anyways you can buy beuche from ebay or amazon. Trust me I was scared at first.
