I used the skin ceuticals Vitamin C holy grail
6 months after I started to take better care of my skin. Here’s some pics non filtered of my routine. 1. I purchased the SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum the most recommended from dermatologist and was definitely not sure whether to purchase or no because of its price. Thank god I did 🙏 this is really the holy grail. 2. The OLE HENRIKSEN - Banana Bright Eye Crème this eye cream was gifted to me by cousin over a year ago. I love it. It’s absolutely amazing. 3. Last but no least thanks to Cherie for gifting me absolutely the best eye cream ever used Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 Highly recommend these products. The most important is being consistent and using them every morning. 😘
eye cream so BRIGHT 🌟🌞⚡️💥
OLE HENRIKSEN - Banana Bright Eye Crème thank you cherie for gifting me my first ever eye cream !! I had heard so much about this product, so I was super excited to try it. the first thing we gotta talk about is the scent. i’m not the biggest fan of fragrance in skin care, but this product is too good that I don’t mind at all ! it smells like a freshly squeezed glass of orange juice 🍊 and I love it ! as you can see, the texture of this product is amazing! it has a creamy thick texture that glides on the skin so smoothly. I guess a disclaimer would be that I don’t have dark under eyes, but I do notice a difference when I put this on! it brightens my whole under eye area and makes me look so much more awake! a little goes a really really long way with this product ! even if the tub is a little small, I don’t see it running out any time soon. $39USD for 0.5oz
Reflecting on 2020
2020 is coming to a close. I think we are all very hopeful for a better 2021. 2020 has been challenging year. But, as hard as it has been for me having a newborn & a toddler at home during two lockdowns now (Ontario is officially locked down today again), it has also given me LOTS of time with my kids, a HUGE appreciation for stay at home moms, and appreciating all the things I took for granted like seeing friends & family at Christmas. Here’s my @cherie2020 Top 5 1. Product My favourite has been SUNDAY RILEY - Good Genes Glycolic Acid Treatment I received it in a sample bag from Sephora and was blown away by the results. It’s a 7 % lactic acid treatment in a milky serum consistency. It also contains licorice root extract. You really can notice it smooth & brighten your skin in 3 minutes! I haven’t bought the full size yet. It retails for $112 CAD for 1oz. But when my sample runs out I think this one is worth the money! (The sample is .25oz and I’ve been using it once a week for about 6 weeks and I might have one use left) 2. Trend Does Vitamin C count as a trend? I only started my skincare journey 6 months ago. I didn’t really know anything about skincare ingredients. Now I’ve bought two Vitamin C serums, an eye cream, and face wash! Vitamin C is powerful antioxidant that helps give you brighter, tighter, and overall more radiant looking skin. I definitely have noticed a difference since starting use to Vitamin C serums! VERSED - STROKE OF BRILLIANCE Brightening Serum SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. Rapid Flash Brightening Serum(haven’t started using) OLE HENRIKSEN - Banana Bright Eye Crème OLE HENRIKSEN - Truth Juice Daily Cleanser 3. Best Look My best book would have to be my everyday 5 minute natural make-up look (see earlier post). Before I started my skincare journey in the summer, I was maybe washing my face in the shower and putting on lotion. Definitely no make-up. I looked tired and dull. Now I take care of my skin, so even without make-up I look brighter and I also take 5 minutes to put on a little make-up, even if it is just to walk the kids to the park and it makes me feel a lot better about my appearance. CLINIQUE - Moisture Surge Sheertint Hydrator Broad Spectrum SPF 25 SEPHORA COLLECTION - Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer Milk MAKEUP - Lip + Cheek CLINIQUE - High Impact Lash Elevating Mascara CLINIQUE - Just Browsing Brush-on Styling Mousse 4. Favourite Creator on Cherie I might be biased because I won a great giveaway from her, but I really love following @JadesJourney I really enjoy her intersection between skincare and wellness. Check her out! 5. Something I learned The biggest thing I learned this year is not only can I find the time everyday to take care of my skin but that I look forward to it! Happy New Year!
The gift of good skin!
For Christmas, I made my sister a new skincare routine! She has combo acne prone skin with some sensitivity and redness, she also complained of some dark circles around her eyes. She currently uses terrible products and is pretty lazy when it comes to skincare so she doesn’t even wash her face everyday! I tried to design something simple, affordable, and easy to keep up with (e.g. mostly drug store products) but also an effective starting point for her skin needs! How did I do? Washes Off All Impurities, Still Leaves Skin Refreshed
Like most mid-30 year old professional women in New York City, not only do I apply a bit of makeup (eyeliner, concealer, bronzer, mascara, tinted moisturizer) on a day to day basis, but I’m also constantly dealing with the impurities and unclean conditions of the city throughout the day. At the end of the day and as I get ready for bed I want nothing more than to completely clean and clear my skin of all makeup and pollutants that I encounter throughout the day. And while wanting to thoroughly strip my face of all dirt and grime, I also don’t want to remove essential oils that keep my skin moisturized and healthy.
💫Why You Need to Add Emulsions to Your Skincare Routine
Emulsions seem to be a mystifying topic in skincare world. It gets thrown around a lot, yet no one really knows what it is or why you should use it. It’s understandably difficult to know everything in the skincare world as companies tend to create jargon that make the already vast world of skincare products even more complex. Emulsions are one of those products you’ve never heard of but may come across and wonder if it would be beneficial for your skincare routine.
4 Clean Beauty Brand Stories Worth Knowing
In the past few years we’ve become more aware and concerned about what we actually put on our skin, hair and body. Not to scare you right from the start, but very often cosmetics that we use daily cause more harm than actual good, because of containing toxic and irritating ingredients. This is when clean beauty brands and products come to the rescue!
Back to Basics with Clean Hair Brand, Briogeo
Briogeo combines the best of science and nature, to deliver powerful, naturally based formulas for all hair textures and types. "Brio" is Italian and means "vibrant and full of life" - representing not only the busy NYC in which the brand was born, but the considerate, lively and artistic packaging that you’ll find wrapped around each formula. "Geo" is a Latin word meaning "of Earth and nature," which represents the pure, yet strong ingredients behind each formula. Briogeo’s cult favorite products are not a secret—they’re the buzz everywhere! Beauty editors, influencers and consumers have fallen in love with their clean, high-performance hair care. Nancy Twine, CEO and Founder of Briogeo quotes: “We should treat our hair the same way we treat our skin; by nurturing it with ingredients that detoxify, hydrate, and protect.” Nancy also believes that “beautiful hair shouldn’t be compromised by harsh or harmful ingredients.”

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
