let’s talk neck care!
Neck and décolletage care! This type of skin care isn’t addressed as much, but it’s still an important step of skincare! I never really thought about it while I was addressing my face skin concerns, but I once read that it was good to bring your skincare products down to your neck, so I started doing that about 8 months ago. I think my neck lines are partly genetic, but they’re also due to how often I sit in bed staring at my phone, thus creating deeper lines on my neck. I wish I had a picture from 8 months ago, but my neck was pretty wrinkly, it had really deep horizontal neck lines that I couldn’t get rid of even if I stretched my neck. While I still have some horizontal lines on my neck, they’re certainly less visible than they were before. So what do I do exactly? I really don’t do much besides bring my toners, serums, sunscreen, and moisturizers down to my neck, and I massage it in in an upward direction. So with the product on my hands, I start to massage from the base of my neck up to my chin. I do this until I feel like the product has been absorbed. Massaging the product in an upward direction will help smooth the skin and prevent drooping. I certainly did not see results immediately. In fact, it took at least 6 months of doing this little massage every morning and night to see some change. I really just stuck to it and ended up doing it out of habit for many months, then one day I realized my neck looked much smoother than it was before. Here are some of the products I’ve been using on my neck (I usually use these on my face too): innisfree - Cica Toner with Bija Seed Oil innisfree - Green Tea Moisture-Balancing Toner CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion THE inkey LIST - Hyaluronic Acid Serum Kate Somerville - Liquid ExfoliKate Triple Acid Resurfacing Treatment FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil
getting off makeup and clear skin with rosacea!
okay... so I know I've posted this before, and Cherie is (devastatingly) closing down, but I thought I'd share one last post. This really works. one is a prescription and there are a couple items missing, so I'll add them to the pictures. Here is the order they say to put on skincare (as depicted) 1) makeup remover/wash (I use Queen Helene cold cream that I SWEAR by, sometimes BURT’S BEES - BURT‘S BEES Sensitive Facial Cleanser ) 2) Facewash/second face wash (I use DERMA•E - Sensitive Skin Cleanser and Joeseph anti Acne soap 10% sulfur) 3) Toner (I use THAYERS - Rose Petal Facial Toner ) 4) Serums (I use a few... my prescription Amzeeq, mostly The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% , and DERMA•E - Blue Light Shield Concentrated Serum ) 5) Spot Treatments (Murad - Invisiscar Resurfacing Treatment , tea tree oil when needed) 6) Eye Cream (not pictured - DERMA•E - Firming DMAE Eye Lift Cream ) 7) Moisturizer (2 different kinds depending on how dry I am- pictured: Alba Botanica Aloe Green tea moisturizer, not pictured: skinfix - Barrier+ Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream ) 8) Retinol: Now, because I have rosacea, I use a retinol alternative. The best one for sensitive skin I found is The Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion use at night only) 9) Face Oil: HEAR ME OUT: If you have oily skin, it's not the WORST thing to use an oil. As a matter of fact, it may work well. BEST ONE BY FAR IS ROSEHIP OIL. I can't tell you how amazing it is The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil , and JOSIE MARAN - Pure Argan Milk Intensive Hydrating Treatment during the day) wear sunscreen during the day, and put it in place of retinol. I use Glossier. - Invisible Shield Daily Sunscreen it's a great light moisturizer, too. And at night in the winter if it's super dry, I'll put petroleum jelly around the corners of my eyes and lips. The results don't lie, Cherie babes (: comment below I'd you know of a better eye cream.
Which facial oil should I use? 😤
Who would’ve thought that facial oils would be a thing we’d put on our face?! Weren’t we trying to avoid having oily skin? Before I started getting into skincare, I never used facial oils before. So, when I dove into the world, I didn’t know where to start. There’s so many on the market that it’s hard to pinpoint which ones truly do work and which ones are just veggie oil in a bottle 😭 Here are 3 facial oils I’ve tried & my experience with them. Hopefully you’ve tried them before, too! And, if not, then what you waiting for sis?! 1. from plants - OMG Facial Oil this facial oil by from plants is one of my favorite lightweight oils out there. Because it’s so lightweight, I’ve managed to use it during the AM when I’m just staying home. This facial oil contains: Apricot kernel oil: helps to moisturize while slowing signs of aging Rose hip, lavender and pumpkin oil: boosts collagen production and reduces inflammation Turmeric oil: targets pores and calms skin from breakouts This is a great facial oil for anyone looking to have a nutrient packed product without having to add additional ingredients onto your face. 2. KORA - Noni Glow Face Oil one of my favorite oils of all time! This facial oil does exactly as it says: GLOW ✨ I’ve also used this in the AM and have gone out with it on. All day glow, ladies, trust me. This facial oil contains: Noni extract, rosehip oil, pomegranate oil and sea buckthorn: all combined are meant to create a rich source of antioxidants and fatty acids to your skin! This is more pricey being $68 but the results were well worth it. If you want a similar product, let’s head below 👇🏼 3. sbâèk - Globe Trotter Facial Oil this facial oil is slightly thicker than the noni facial oil so I use it in the PM. It is unavailable on the market BUT a great alternative is THE inkey LIST - Squalane Oil which offers the same result for me. It produces soft and supple skin while also targeting inflammation, great for restorative measures!
Are we into the Dolphin Skin Trend?
Dewy skin is here to stay and one Instagram makeup trend that’s really highlighting it is the Dolphin Skin Trend. Inspired by the slippery skin of a dolphin, the trend involves layering hydrating makeup products to mimic that wet fresh-from-the-sea glimmer with lots of highlight while also achieving a natural-looking glam. To start, it’s recommended to prep the skin with a thick moisturizer and/or oil followed by a hydrating, glow-inducing primer. From there, it’s best to use lightweight complexion products with a luminous finish in order to keep the glow strong while also allowing your natural texture to shine through. Then, it’s time for the highlight. Makeup artists recommend opting for crème formulas like balms for a radiant and sleek look. For me, I’ll prep the areas I want to have an extra shine with Glossier’s FutureDew, which is a thick oil-serum hybrid that is designed to make the skin really hydrated and glowy – it can make you breakout if you’re prone to breakouts or wear too much. Then, I’ll add drops of KORA Organics’ Noni Glow Face Oil to my Kosas Tinted Face Oil for an added glow. The oil is a little thick so you don’t really need that much to get the perfect dew. Kosas doesn’t have the best shade range so it’s not the best brand for everyone, but I think it’s Tinted Face Oil is really hydrating and dewy. My new favorite thing is to apply my foundation with a big fluffy concealer brush to help get a seamless finish. If I need more coverage, I’ll go in with a little sweep of Glossier’s Stretch Concealer because of its dewy finish on the skin. It’s really lightweight and can kind of make you look greasy if you have oily skin. Experimenting with different highlight textures can easily amplify the look – I like to start with a balm like Tower 28’s SuperDew Highlight Balm, which is super lightweight and leaves a gorgeous glow, and then follow up either Tarte’s Skin Gloss Glass, which is like liquid gold but sometimes it makes me breakout – my skin is acne-prone and doesn’t really react well to heavy makeup products. I like the overall vibe of the trend but wouldn’t always wear two highlights but I’m into the finished product! Products used: For prep & complexion: Glossier. - Futuredew Oil Serum Hybrid Kosas - Tinted Face Oil Foundation KORA - Noni Glow Face Oil Glossier. - Stretch Concealer For highlight: TOWER 28 - SuperDew Highlighter Balm tarte - Skin Gloss Glass Highlighter
My exfoliator series!!
I loveeeee to exfoliate and address one of my biggest skin concerns, texture. I’m just starting my skin care journey and these three were my first pick ups. Turmeric and apple cider vinegar are some of my favorite ingredients in cooking and also hair care. Turmeric is a great anti inflammatory and antioxidant and is known as a brightened of the skin as well. Apple cider vinegar has been known to treat blood pressure and also scalp conditions so I thought it would be a great gentle exfoliate for my face. Let’s start with the turmeric exfoliating mask. This mixed physical exfoliation with chemical. It has rosehip seeds and quartz which you can physically work in after leaving the mask on for awhile. The Bha comes from aspen bark and papaya. My skin does feel slightly softer after using this but not enough to pay 48 again. The brightening effect is minute as well. Now the Apple cider vinegar pads come in a box for 72(ridiculous) and a smaller sample box for 12. Thank god I got the sample because this did nothing for me. Maybe the acid is too gentle but I was extremely disappointed. Guess I will continue to ingest it via the gummies to get the benefits Finally, we have wishful yo glow which I will repurchase. It uses aha and bhas only and really smooths out my skin. It is reasonably priced at 39 and is available as a mini for 21. My downside is that it is heavily fragranced and it took time for me to cope with that. The product balls up and it isn’t dead skin alone but I believe the cellulose in the product clings to dead skin cells which I clearly see as the product which is white will turn grayish brown as I work it into my skin. Did I rant or what lol, I will continue my hunt for the perfect exfoliators for my collection and update u guys as I try them
Turmeric brightening and exfoliating face mask
The newest addition to my @koraorganics family✨ I also have an empty bottle of my Noni glow face oil and 3 (not Instagrammable) empty tubes of the turmeric brightening and exfoliating mask on the side. Yes, They’re both THAT good! Disclaimer: it’s very easy to misunderstand the purpose of the turmeric mask. At first, It looks like your typical mechanical scrub and you’d be tempted to use it as such. Please don’t! You need to use this product as a mask to properly experience all its benefits. In addition to the brightening properties of the turmeric, the mask contains papaya enzymes and Aspen bark, amazing at unclogging pores and fighting acne causing bacteria. If your skin is relatively resilient, try doing what I like to call “masking sprints”, a fun challenge that consists of using the same mask every night for a week. One of my most successful masking sprints was getting to experience the brightening and skin softening properties of the turmeric brightening and exfoliating mask👌🏼✨🥰 What was your@koraorganics Experience like? Vitamin C: as great as everyone says
Georgette Klinger's Vitamin C line is focused on reducing hyperpigmentation, brightening skin and reducing signs of aging. GEORGETTE KLINGER - Vitamin C Cleansing Gel Texture: gel. Thoughts: It’s a mild gel soap, it doesn’t foam up, it leaves the skin clean and fresh. GEORGETTE KLINGER - Vitamin C Mask Texture: clay mask. Thoughts: It’s a hydrating mask very easy to apply and lightweight, it doesn’t burn or tingle, despite being clay it doesn’t dry the skin. Leaves skin luminous, hydrated and clean. Being honest every time I use it caused me some kind of irritation or breakout, it is probably very hydrating for me due to one of the oils it contains (probably avocado oil). GEORGETTE KLINGER - Vitamin C Toner Texture: liquid. Thoughts: It’s a tonic that hydrates and leaves the skin fresh and clean. I am not a big fan of toners, but I liked this one, I have combination skin and with some products I am prone to breakouts, but this worked very well for me. GEORGETTE KLINGER - Vitamin C Complex Texture: gel. Thoughts: I used it day and night, in the instructions it says to avoid the eye area, I honestly applied it to the entire face and neck 🙈 and it didn’t irritate me, mainly because I wanted to test if it worked for dark circles like other serums. Leaves skin smooth and shiny. Final thoughts: Notice that redness and dark spots that I have on my nose and left cheek have been reduced, I was very surprised to see these latest changes, because as I mentioned before, I use a vitamin C serum from another brand, and it really made a difference to use this products from Georgette Klinger. The only product that I would stop using would be the mask, since it caused me some type of irritation or breakout that took 3 days or so to disappear. They have a light citric scent, not overpowering and disappear quickly. I really recommend using these products, Vitamin C is an ingredient that we should all adapt to our beauty routines. ** To test this line and give a better opinion during the trial period I only use GK products. ** These products were gifted to me free to review.

VITAMIN C = GLOWY SKIN (ft. Georgette Klinger)
GEORGETTE KLINGER - Vitamin C Mask My favorite product from the range!!! This mask leaves my skin looking radiant while drawing out impurities. It doesn’t dry out my skin (like many other clay-based masks do) and definitely boosts my skin’s radiance. I use it about 1-2x a week and it gives such amazing brightening effects! Ingredients: - Vitamin C - Bentonite & Kaolin Clay - Argan & Avocado Oil - Algae Extract GEORGETTE KLINGER - Vitamin C Toner This is such an easy way to incorporate Vitamin C into your skin routine. This particular one feels super lightweight and absorbs into the skin really quickly and without leaving any residue! I haven’t seen tooo much of a difference in my skin since using it but I know Vitamin C takes a while for results to show. Ingredients: - Vitamin C (sourced from Kakadu Plum) - Aloe - Witch Hazel - Watercress Extract - Elderflower Extract GEORGETTE KLINGER - Vitamin C Complex This face serum is formulated to boost radiance and luminosity and improve skin tone evenness. It’s not the first time I’ve used a Vitamin C serum like this, as I have used my beloved SkinCeuticals one for long time now, but I definitelt find it unique to others I’ve tried. It has a thicker more viscous texture than the other watery-feeling serums I’ve used before. I think this is a product, but I prefer a lighter-weight consistency to the texture of this serum. I will definitely still continue to use it alongside my other products but it’s not my favorite from the line. Ingredients: - Vitamin C (sourced from Kakadu Plum) - Lemon Peel Extract - Licorice Root Extract - Mulberry Extract - Grape Extract GEORGETTE KLINGER - Vitamin C Cleansing Gel This is a cleansing gel infused with Vitamin C and Citrus Extracts to leave skin looking ultra-luminous and clean. The consistency and experience with this cleansing gel is lovely and I would recommend it to friends looking to try a new cleanser. I, however, prefer a cleansing gel with actives in it like Salicylic Acid to help combat my combination, acne-prone skin which I use every single night. I have started using this as my morning cleanse, alternating between this and my usual gentle gel cleanser. Ingredients: - Vitamin C (sourced from Kakadu Plum Extract) - Olive Fruit Oil - Grapefruit Extract - Lemon Peel Extract - Orange Peel Extract

End of Weekend Routine!!
Sunday Night... had makeup on all weekend, sweated a lot, and drank some alcohol so my skin needed a revival. I love the Overtime mask by Summer Friday’s! The smell of the pumpkin and the apricot speed flower helps polish away dead skin. It’s purpose is to reduce dullness, uneven texture, pores, and wrinkles/fine lines. My ONLY qualm is I have extremely sensitive dry skin and eczema flare ups; I only use it once a week to give my skin a fresh revival without drying up! Definitely apart of my weekend routine! And the feeling after?!? *chefs kiss* SUMMER FRIDAYS - Overtime Mask it is for all skin types, but it’s important to understand how your skin would work with this mask I do use other Summer Friday products that I personally give 5 stars!!!!

Herbivore Balance and clarify minis set
Slowly introducing each product one at a time. So far I have tried the lapis oil which I can totally see myself purchasing the full size, and making this a staple in my routine. I’ve also tried the jasmine toner but am having a hard time getting past the smell, and haven’t seen any significant difference from the toner I’m alreAdy using which is bliss what a melon toner . Unfortunately the blue tansy mask is expired and Sephora won’t replace it unless I sent the whole kit back so first I’m going to make sure everything else is ok for my skin. I’m hopeful with prism , will update when I introduce it to my regime. Thanks for welcoming me to such a beautiful community ❤️

juvaskincare One special ingredient in Juva’s products is Fullerene. Fullerene has an antioxidant potential that can neutralize free radicals from our everyday pollution and stress. This ingredient won the Nobel prize, and its antioxidant capacity is 172 times higher than that of vitamin C!! Fullerene is very stable in high temperature or highly contaminated environment. ✨-Brightening Enhancer This is similar to a toner. It claims to restore skin radiance. I like to spritz this after cleanser. It absorbs really well and quickly. There is barely any scent to this product. It leaves my face soft. ✨-Brightening Essence This contains a high concentration of Fullerene. I have been using is for about 2 weeks. My skin has been feeling very soft and skin tone is brighter after using these products. ✨-Brightening Lotion -It contains sunflower seed oil, shea butter, glycerin, and fullerene. This has a lightweight creamy texure that goes on skin efforlessly. It absorbs well. This is a good moisturizer for the summer because it is lightweight. I, however, use another cream on top of this in the evening. ✨-Brightening Facial Jelly- It contains cucumber extract and ginseng root extract. It is supposed to provide hydration to your skin. I definitely love using this when my face needs extra TLC. Overall, these products are good and gentle products. They don’t have strong fragrance; actually, none at all to me beside the jelly mask. My skin feels and looks refreshed and brighten after using these for 2 weeks.

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
