I've tried several hair products for curly hair, and these are my favorite! Shampoos SheaMoisture - Argan Oil and Almond Milk Shampoo
It smells like milk. I love that and the way this made my hair feel. Very smooth and non-greasy after washing. Conditioners SheaMoisture - Superfruit Complex 10 in 1 Renewal System Conditioner
Some people don't like its scent, but I personally can accept it. The moisturizing effect is perfect. TRESemmé - Botanique Nourish + Replenish With Coconut Milk & Aloe Vera Conditioner
It's affordable and it's so large that you can use it for a long time. Apply it and wait 5-8 minutes, then your hair will be like seaweed. Kinky-Curly - Knot Today, Natural Leave In / Detangler
It smells like coconut. I use it as a moisturizer. I have now purchased 3 bottles of this. My hair cannot get enough. It is pricey, but so worth it. It is the best leave in conditioner I have ever tried. The best part about it is it's sans silicones sulfates or waxes. If you're looking for a great detangler that doesn't leave your hair greasy, this is the one for you. Leave-in conditioners SheaMoisture - Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Leave-In Conditioner
It is a little greasy. I brush my hair with this leave in in during the shower and it keeps my hair silky and curls not frizzy Hair masks SheaMoisture - Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Masque
I use it once every two weeks, staying for 15-20 minutes before washing off. After using it, it helps hydrate my hair. It’s very light and doesn’t dry with any residue! It leaves my curls feeling light weight! Curl defining gels DevaCurl - Light Defining Gel Soft Hold No-Crunch Styler
I have medium length curly hair and I use about a quarter size for the initial scrunch from ends to root. I touch up around the entire head with another quarter size. Let dry and scrunch to release the cast from the gel. My hair and curls are so happy with this product. It is the holy grail for sure. SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie
I use it to apply a little bit to the hair before setting. It makes your hair look a little oily.

Maria_Simonaoh, i LOVE this routine! Shea Moisture products SAVED my hair. 😍 just to let you know, DevaCurl currently has a lawsuit going on because thousands of women are suing them because of how badly DevaCurl products destroyed their hair (and the skin around their hair). 🥺 do some research on the lawsuit and please be careful with using DevaCurl. letting you know because I want you and your beautiful hair to stay out of harm's way! 💞💞

KristinaCampI was just about to comment this! I personally had to stop using DevaCurl cause my hair was literally falling out in clumps after only using their products once. I agree that Shea moisture is AMAZING!

Just another journey
Natural hair chronicles.👩🏽‍🦱 Based off research & experience I’d say my hair is either high porosity or a mixture of ALL; medium, low & high. Knowing your hair porosity is far more important than the texture(s), when it comes to the health & hair integrity. However, I have multiple textures when its wet. Therefore, I still don’t know exactly how to cater to my whole head just yet & I’ve been natural for years. Protein overload 🚫 Ahhh, I realized recently that almost every product i’ve used had some type of protein in it.😳 My hair is very strong but doesn’t retain moisture like it used to. Consequently, I have to change my entire routine to products that don’t contain any protein or coconut oil. ❗️Knowing the difference between oils that can penetrate & provide strength vs oils that can penetrate & retain moisture is vital❗️ ⚠️Current Routine: Shampoo: SheaMoisture - Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo. I’ll be alternating withKinky-Curly - Come Clean, Natural Moisturizing Shampoofor clarifying. Conditioner: #Aussie - Miracle Coils[products]#[FiveStars] for detangling. Deep Conditioner: AS I AM - Jbco Moisturizing Masque ~ Styling: (not in order) 💆🏽‍♀️ SheaMoisture - Raw Shea Butter Extra-Moisture Detangler Kinky-Curly - Knot Today, Natural Leave In / Detangler MIELLE - Pomegranate & Honey Leave-In Conditioner #Camille Rose Naturals - Camille Rose Naturals Aloe Whipped Butter Gel[products]#[FiveStars] AS I AM - JBCO Leave-in Conditioner Curls - Brule Whipped Curl Cream Kurlee Belle - Thirsty Kurls Leave In Conditioner[products]#[FiveStars] DIY hair butter for sealing. ~ Ingredients: Shea, 🥭 Mango butter, Cupuacu butter, & Tucuma butter w added oils. (still experimenting) I know my hair care needs some tweaking, if anybody could recommend any products that don’t contain anything that’ll contribute to my problem, please do!

HOW TO TURN YOUR HAIR FROM THIS🤮 TO THIS😍🔥
My hair care journey has not been easy but over time, I turned my EXTREMELY heat-damaged hair into lively, bouncy curls! Pictured is my current hair care routine, after 3 years of trying various hair products from ALL different brands I think I found my favorite lineup😍 TPH BY TARAJI - Honey Fresh Clarifying Shampoo With Moisture This clarifying shampoo is one of favorites that I’ve tried so far! I suffer from fast product build-up on my scalp, so I usually need to use a clarifying shampoo at least once a week. Something about a shampoo that bubbles makes my scalp feel extra clean 🧼 so I love using this on days where I feel like my No-Poo won’t get the job done. SLS/SLES free, phthalate free, paraben free, mineral oil free, and cruelty free! DevaCurl - No-Poo Original Zero Lather Conditioning Cleanser I wanted to love this product because I heard so much hype about it but it just doesn’t do much for when I feel like I need a wash day😅 Great texture though and my hair never feels stripped after using it! DevaCurl - One Condition Original Daily Cream Conditioner THIS IS MY HOLY GRAIL. Favorite conditioner I’ve ever used and definitely has a large role in my hair journey. My curls love this conditioner! (NOTE: the decadence version of this conditioner is great for super dry hair as well) Alikay Naturals - Lemongrass Leave-in Conditioner This is another one of my ride or die products and I was so surprised to see that it hadn’t been recommended on cherie yet! This detangles my hair so easily and it’s the first thing I spray on my hair when I get out of the shower. Its main ingredient is lemongrass oil that aims to help strengthen hair follicles, promote healthy hair growth, and reduce hair shedding. Highly recommend this product for ALL hair types! Kinky-Curly - Knot Today, Natural Leave In / Detangler This product is okay. When I first bought it, I though it would serve more as a gel to seal my leave in conditioners in but it just doesn’t work as well as DevaCurl - Light Defining Gel Soft Hold No-Crunch Styler . This gel creates the perfect shine and seal for all my moisturizing products that I apply before hand. AND I love that it doesn’t leave a crunchy feeling most gels do. MIELLE - Pomegranate & Honey Leave-In Conditioner Another hair care staple. The smell is fantastic and it slips through my hair like BUTTAH😩 Once my hair dries, I’m left with pillow-soft curls! (NOTE: I apply this after my Alikay Naturals Leave-in spray and top it with my gel) Briogeo - Don't Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Hair Mask Last but not least, liquid gold in a tub. Man if I could bathe in this mask I would. I use this mask once-twice a week to add some extra richness in my routine!

How I fully transitioned and grew my 4b/c hair
My hair journey is something that means a lot to me. As a child I was always known to have hair so long it reached the middle of my back. Whether my hair was curly, straight, braided or in twists it generated a lot of talk. That’s why when I went natural and lost basically all the length that I somewhat had it was such a shocker. I was natural as a child before I began to get a relaxer at around 3rd grade. It was needed since my mom had just gotten over breast cancer for a second time and my long thick curls were too much for her to take care of. My hair still retained its length, even as I went into middle school but once I hit 9th grade I’d realized something. My length was gone. Now I will say SOOOO many hair mistakes were made when I began doing my own hair in high school. I put too much heat to it, I manipulated it too much, and I didn’t care about my strands enough. I honestly don’t know at what point I realized I wanted to go natural but at the end of my sophomore year I did. My mother who is a very traditional black woman when it comes to hair made it crystal clear there was no way in hell I was getting the big chop I wanted. Because of this I was forced to transition over. I vividly remember the first product I used as a natural being SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie this served a good purpose since my number one goal at the time was curl definition. I don’t mind that as much anymore because I have come to terms with the fact that my hair type is NOT loose curls. Since quarantine that goal has changed. My goal I’m March went from “how do I get my hair to curl” to “okay how do I retain length and keep my hair healthy” and I knew my answer. Braids. I’ll be the one to say I absolutely LOVE braids but I HATE getting them professionally done for so many reasons. The main one being when my scalp gets too dirty the braids gotta go. That is a problem when braids cost 100 and I’m over them in a month 🗿. This pushed me to doing my own braids minus the braiding hair. Every two-three weeks I take my braids out, condition my dry dirty hair, wash the conditioner out, wash my hair, deep condition, and prep my hair for braids. Sometimes I blow dry my hair before I braid it (because I want the length😗) and sometimes I just braid my coily hair as is. This has helped keep my hair healthy and grow it all quarantine. These are the products I’ve used: AFRiCAN PRIDE - Olive Miracle Anti-Breakage Leave-in Conditioner AFRiCAN PRIDE - Olive Miracle Anti-Breakage Growth Oil DOO GRO - Mega Thick Hair Oil ECOCO - Eco Style Argan Oil Gel ECOCO - Eco Style Professional Styling Gel Black Castor & Flaxseed Oil cantu - Argan Oil Leave-In Conditioning Repair aussie - Miracle Moist 3 Minute Miracle with Avocado for Dry Hair Repair Maui MOISTURE - Heal & Hydrate + Shea Butter Hair Mask Aunt Jackie's - Don't Shrink Elongating Curling Gel

Frizzy Hair Fix Pt. 2
I purchased this after much time spent watching curly hair youtubers just dying over how good this product was, naturally I had to try it for myself. Just a heads up: I have wavy hair so I’m definitely not the ideal person to be using this product; however, I figured this could aid with frizz and it sure did! It definitely does make my waves feel different after I use it, but it cuts down on frizz SO MUCH!! I experience little to no frizz after using and sleeping on it. 🕊Makes hair soft 🕊Little goes a long way 🕊Cuts down on frizz 🕊Silicone free! I’d definitely recommend to anyone in need of a cure for frizz. I believe if you have curly/kinky hair this will help define your curls too considering that’s its main purpose.

My absolutely crazy hair journey after chemo
When I lost my hair to chemo I was absolutely devastated. I always had long and thick wavy hair. After I lost it I was looking for absolutely everything and anything to grow my hair. The best thing is patience!! I know we want instant results, but you gotta learn your hair. I ended up growing curly hair to my surprise and didn’t know a single thing about taking care of it!! First off, I strongly recommend looking at the back of your shampoo bottles (yes even the ones that claim to be natural) and look for something called DMDM. This is SO bad for your hair and causes you to lose hair in the hand loads. For so long I wasn’t aware that this was in my shampoos and blamed chemo and medications for all my hair loss even after I grew it back. The shampoo I listed below has been a miracle! I found it at Marshall’s for 6.99 including the hydrating conditioner. I also apply the leave in conditioner and I saw results in 2 months. I went from barely reaching my shoulders to the 3rd picture above. I also use the spray after my hair dries a little more and after I use a styler. Also try transitioning to 2-3 washes a week it’ll do wonders. I’d also recommend using a scalp brush in the shower to get your roots and make sure you’re removing product build up. After you get out try using a hair turban instead of your towel, it’ll reduce breakage!! Hair growth secret!
Hi y’all! So I had chopped my hair in the beginning of the year, around March 2020, right before the pandemic got really bad. And it was around my shoulders when it was straight (see first pic). The second pic is from early December 2020, curly but when it’s straight it’s down to my mid back. So how did my grow that fast?? Well my secret, that’s really not that big of a secret, is SheaMoisture - Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Leave-In Conditioner 🎉 This thing made my hair grow fast like HOLY MOLY!!! And many others swear by this as well! How do I use it? This is a little too heavy to put on all of my hair, so I focus on the scalp and the roots. Since the roots are where the hair follicle is growing, by focusing there, you’re ensuring the hair is healthy. Just put a little bit on your scalp, and I put a little extra on my drier spots. (Mine are usually right on my temples, the top of my head and right behind my ears.) And massage it in! That’s it! I do this maybe 2-4 times a week, depending on how my scalp is. It does build up so if your hair tends to be oilier, use less often or dilute it with avocado or jojoba oil! Why does this work? 🔸Jamaican black castor oil (https://www.naturallycurly.com/curlreading/curls/jamaican-black-castor-oil-for-hair-growth) 👉🏽treats dandruff 👉🏽moisturizes hair 👉🏽promotes hair growth 👉🏽prevent hair breakage, dandruff, eczema and dry, itchy scalp 🔸Apple cider vinegar (https://www.ipsy.com/blog/apple-cider-vinegar-hair-rinse) 👉🏽balances hair pH 👉🏽antibacterial 👉🏽makes hair less greasy 🔸Peppermint oil (https://www.healthline.com/health/peppermint-oil-for-hair) 👉🏽may help with dryness, itching, or other scalp problems 👉🏽menthol in peppermint essential oil is a vasodilator, and vasodilators improve blood flow 🔸Shea butter (https://www.healthline.com/health/shea-butter-for-hair) 👉🏽reduces scalp irritation 👉🏽anti-inflammatory 👉🏽prevents breakage 👉🏽helps curly and coarse hair retain moisture but can be greasier for thinner hair This retails for about $10 at Target and other retailers. I got this back in March and I’ve used maybe half of the box so far, so it does last a while! Have you used this before? 😊👇🏽

Curly Hair Routine
Hey guys! This is my current hair routine 🤗👩🏽‍🦱 ~ i was my hair about 3 times a week ~ All my life i disliked my hair. It was super frizzy, unmanageable, and I was very insecure about it, up until this year. I stopped being lazy, educated myself on my hair type and was able to find beauty in my natural hair. Now i absolutely love doing my hair! it’s a lot of work & takes a lot of effort but i wouldn’t trade it for anything else. 💋 Now for the breakdown of the products: tgin - Rose Water Leave-In Conditioner Right after my wash i apply this leave in conditioner and rake it through my hair, making sure it covers every strand. I absolutely love the smell of this!!! Carol's Daughter - Hair Milk 4-in-1 ''Combing'' Crème Then i apply this super lightweight creme. It is very hydrating & smells soooo good. I’ve also noticed this product definitely makes all the difference in my hair. Support black owned businesses!! 🖤 DevaCurl - Light Defining Gel Soft Hold No-Crunch Styler After i flip my hair upside down and begin scrunching this product throughout my hair. What i love about this product is that it does exactly what it’s names. Super soft gel that does not leave a nasty crunch feel behind. Great for holding that shape. Lastly i diffuse my hair till it is about 80% dry ogx - Nourishing Coconut Oil Weightless Hydrating Oil Mist I finish it off with this spray, it’s great, efficient and inexpensive! & that’s it! 💞💓💗 Let me know if you guys try any of these out. Would you guys like more hair related posts? If you have an other suggestions or questions please leave a comment! 🤍

Alcohol free shampoo?? Its a thing!!!
Alcohol free shampoo?? Its a thing!!!
After reading the ingredients on my cantu shampoo/conditioner, I discovered they had different types of alcohol in them. Why??? Just like in skincare, alcohol isnt a necessary ingredient in your hair care, i did some research and found PACIfICA - Pineapple Curls Curl Defining Shampoo and PACIfICA - Pineapple Curls Curl Defining Conditioner they SAVED MY HAIR!! The shampoo has ZERO alcohol in it and the conditioner only has ONE!! Which is so much less than my old cantu and other curly hair products. They also smell AMAZING!! Theyre made with all ORGANIC AND NATURAL INGREDIENTS! I truly love this brand!!

$6? $ 26? Found RIGHT Shampoo For Your Curly Hair Whatever the BUDGET!!!😆
I have 3a thick and dry hair. Sometimes it can be prone to breakage, which damages my hair. I am always on the hunt for new products to try and recently I have tried to use sulfate-free shampoo and they really save my hair!!! I used shampoo with sulfates before. Sulfates allow grime and dead skin cells to be removed from your skin and scalp and washed away with water. However, they also strip natural oils from the scalp and hair and can create a mass of tangles, and we all know our hair needs those oils. I also find that sulfates increase irritation when not rinsed off properly and in that case, investing in a sulfate-free shampoo might be a better option. Well, I've tried both expensive and affordable shampoos for my curly hair, and here're my thoughts.    🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟AMIKA Normcore Sulfate Free Shampoo $ 26.40 This is a sulfate-free shampoo which has such a good reputation on Sephora.com for the great things it does for hair! After two weeks of use, I have seen such a difference in the ends of my hair they feel so soft, shiny and hydrated. It has such incredible ingredients in the brand philosophy is also amazing. It contains sea buckthorn which promotes elasticity and provides superior hydration. And the coconut-based surfactants do help to remove extra sebum and product buildup from scalp and hair while infusing strands with fatty acids to give our hair a healthier, shiny appearance. Another pro, It smells great!!!!   🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟It's Knot Happening Sulfate Fred Shampoo $6 This shampoo was recommended by my friends to help improve my hair condition. It is freaking everything!! It does not strip your hair at all, leaves your quite soft & moisturized (which is unheard of for a shampoo), I was shocked by how much definition my hair had once I rinsed out the shampoo. But its fragrance does not smell as good as the first. I highly recommend curly girls with or y hair like me consider these two sulfate-free shampoos! Both of the shampoos are great, but if you're on a budget and not sensitive to fragrance, try the second one!

Inexpensive Curly Hair Products & Routine 🙌🏽
Inexpensive Curly Hair Products & Routine 🙌🏽
If I had a dollar for every time someone asked what I put in my hair… 🤪 No, but seriously. I have been playing around my hair routine (products and styling) for about 7 years. This has allowed to try various products, styling techniques, etc. But it has also taught me exactly what ingredients can and can’t work for my hair type. 🥑 I know a lot of the routines on YouTube & IG call for moderately priced to very expensive products that most people don’t have access to 😩🤑 So, I am here to share with you all 3 products I have been using on and off for years and exactly how to layer them in order to achieve flawless curls/coils. Well… almost lol PLUS! Two of the products are under $5 each, so you can get amazing curls for less than $25! 🥳 TRADER JOE'S - Tea Tree Tingle Shampoo with Peppermint - This shampoo is truly divine. Its cleansing without being overly stripping and lathers well onto the scalp. I would suggest washing once if you don’t have a lot of build up, but if you are looking to clarify for your scalp, an additional wash would be necessary. It contains amazing cleansers (No SLFs) that won’t strip your hair of its natural oils and does an amazing job of cleaning the scalp and the minty-ness adds a very spa-like sensation to your wash day. TRADER JOE'S - Tea Tree Tingle Conditioner - One word: MULTIPURPOSE. I love this conditioner because not only is highly moisturizing and has a lot of slip but it can also be used as a leave-in due to consistency. After washing your hair, apply a generous amount to your hair making sure majority of strands are coated, and wait 2-3 minute before detangling and rinsing. After rinsing (with cool water) apply another amount to hair making to coat it but not excessively. You want enough to add moisture back in without the strands being weighed down. SheaMoisture - Sacha Inchi Oil Omega-3-6-9 Rescue & Repair Curl Defining Smoothie - A little goes a long way with this product and I make sure to only add little bit to my hair after getting out the shower. If you have thicker hair, I would suggest using a bit more. I love this because of the smell and how soft my hair feels after using it. I also use this as a styling product when doing other hairstyles, so it has different purposed for me. Honestly, any Shea Moisture curl smoothie/leave-in will work well! 🙌🏽✨ Have you curly babes used any of these? Would love to know your thoughts as well. 💛

Wanna Mermaid Worthy Hair?Trust Me! Try This Haircare Routine!👩‍🦰👩‍🦰👩‍🦰
Wanna Mermaid Worthy Hair?Trust Me! Try This Haircare Routine!👩‍🦰👩‍🦰👩‍🦰
My hair was always frizzy, pouffy, did weird flippy things when it felt like it and it was just an overall hassle to tame. After years of trials and tribulations, money wasted and damaged hair due to the heat, I finally expolered the haircare routine that works perfectly on me.  I'd like to share it with you guys and hope its helpful for you.  1.  wash my hair once a week For someone with curly hair, washing with shampoo every day would strip away the hair’s natural oils and making it more dry and more frizzy. 2. I use shampoo with zero or minimal sulfates Lately the shampoos that have worked greatly for my dry and curly hair is the DevaCurl - No-Poo Original Zero Lather Conditioning Cleanser. This shampoo produces zero lather (which takes a while to get used to) and the grape seed, peppermint and rosemary in it keeps my hair soft and frizz-free. TheLUSH - Rehab Shampoo is another great shampoo if I want to switch it up. I only lather a loonie-size dollop of shampoo on my entire scalp. Tips: I never apply shampoo on the ends of my hair, just my scalp. 3.I use silicone-free conditioner It smells amazing and a little goes a long way with this one and it works wonders on my hair. The olive fruit oil, hops and quinoa in this conditioner makes my hair incredibly soft, but my hair still feels light and bouncy since there are no heavy silicones and parabens to weigh it down or make it greasy, like your average conditioners. I smooth out about 3-4 pumps of this conditioner on the ends of my hair only, starting from my ear, down to the ends. I let the conditioner sit in my hair for about 5 minutes before rinsing off and revealing silky hair that smells enchanting.  Tips: Never apply conditioner directly on the scalp and focus on the ends, because that is the driest part. 4. I rinse my hair with cold water  I always finish off my final rinse with very cold water. It’s worth the 10 seconds of frigid discomfort. The cold water basically eliminates frizz and feels refreshing on the scalp. 5. I pat my hair dry with a cotton T-shirt Never rub your curly hair in a towel! That will make your hair frizzy. Instead, grab a cotton T-shirt and pat gently. I pat my hair, focusing on the ends mostly, to absorb excess water to prepare it for the next step below. 6. I use styling product on wet hair The best advice I could give to styling curly hair: apply your styling product on wet hair. I have used a number of decent curling creams in the past but lately I have been digging thisLOVEurSELF - All-In-One: Curly. It has great ingredients, doesn’t feel heavy, and the curl power lasts all week. With this product, I get bouncy spiral curls for the first half of the week, and by the end of the week my hair winds down to flowy waves, and my hair never feels greasy. 7. I use a diffuser to dry my hair Diffusers distribute heat a little more sparingly so it’s not as damaging. I diffuse until my hair is about 80% dry, I give a brief cold air blast and then I finish off with the final step below. 8. I use a leave-in treatment to set my curls This LUSH - R&B Hair Moisturizeris a Holy Grail product for me. It’s the perfect finishing touch to use after I’m done diffusing my hair. 9. I use coconut oil as a deep conditioning hair mask  I’ll slather it on my ends, comb it out through my entire hair, give myself a little scalp massage, twist my hair up in a bun and let it absorb the coconut oil all day or overnight by wearing a disposable hair cap and placing a towel on my pillowcase. Do you have any ideas on curly hair routine. I'd love to discuss it with U!

Curly Hair Routine
